Eager to assist her comrade With finding the murder weapon she searches high and low unfortunately her eyes wander more watching her companions than helping them

DM Kludde |

Inside each of the cages is a resting rust monster. Some grains of oxidised iron lie scattered on the bottom of one of the cages, unidentifiable. These animals eat metal, they have to eat, right?

![]() |

"so would you know who was the last person to feed these creatures and what they fed them?" Liara asks kindly to the man watching him for any sudden movements.

Intel check for Darvik to put the pieces together, DC 12 maybe?: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5 Bah, does it matter?
Who cares what these foul creatures eat? We have more pressing things to worry about! Darvik gets agitated again. I'll go check out the forward hold. Nice speaking to you, sir. And Darvik goes off without another word to search the forward hold.
Perception in the cargo hold: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Perception in the forward hold: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Poor Darvik is out of his element, LOL.

![]() |

Hagrym follows his friend, Darvik. "Have you had any success? I haven't found out much. Only crew I spoke with said she was sickened after eating dinner and went to sleep in her room. If we can't find anything else, we could ask around about that excuse, but the others would probably be much better at that."

![]() |

My friend, I'm sick of speaking to these people. As you know, conversation is not my strength, unless we are to speak of our times in battle. Darvik tries to smile to his old companion. I'm not great at looking for anything but trouble but maybe I can help you shift through this stuff and find something that the others might figure to be a clue.

![]() |

Noticing that Darvick was leaving the area Liara starts to follow him until noticing Hagrym was in tow the dwarf is with him she thinks obviously intimidated . Looking at Loenor timidly " so what is next" she says looking down towards the ground as she twirls her finger in her platinum colored hair.

The forward hold is where Azura and Eolowyn are talking to Snig, so I guess Hagrym and Darvik walk in on us?
Azuretta, and that bodyguard. Kept silent. Tried to sleep through it. Didn't work. Still kept silent. Always do.
"Bodyguard? Do you mean Thanzeril, then? He should have been at his post... What were they doing in here? Don't worry Master Lacrosse, we mean you no harm."
Reacting to the intrusion of Darvik and Hagrym, she exclaimed "Goodness! We are nearly done in here, fellows. Would you let us finish our conversation before you go about "tearing the place up", eh?"
Once they have privacy again, Azura continues speaking with Snig. "This isn't the most secure spot to try and get some rest, no? Seems as if anyone could stumble in on you at any given moment. Does noone respect your personal space here? Wouldn't you prefer some place where you could have your own space? Our Andoran superiors in Absalom think highly of your skills for stealth and subterfuge. Could I convince you to disembark at Riddleport to meet with them about finding you a more suitable position on another ship where you could aid the cause of freedom?"
Diplomacy on Snig: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
"Now with your permission, Master Lacrosse, I think my fellow Pathfinders need to search this area to be sure the murder weapon hasn't been hidden here. I will help them along so we do not bother you more than necessary. Alright Hagrym, let's look this place over and get on with the investigation."

Saddened at the lack of clues by the rust monster, Loenor sighs. At Liara's question, "I don't rightly know. Talking to these people is an up-current battle. The weapon is probably gone," he says hiking a thumb at the caged beast, "and half these people's stories couldn't hold an ounce of water. I fear we may never find who did it and clear our name." He stands and stretches his arm. "Still, someone's gotta know something here. What have you found out so far?"

![]() |

" I still believe that we have yet to talk to the most suspicious crew mate that is here yet, the first mate he was the only one with a key to the elf's room she says grabbing Leonor's hand and leading him to the first mate.

![]() |

"Nothing .. Nothing" the cleric says her sapphire eyes flashing with anger. " I have been running around this boat trying to clear your name and I don't even know if you are truly innocent" she says venting her frustration on the elf.

![]() |

"I am innocent! ... of the murder, at least," he finishes with a grin. Approaching the main deck, Loenor lets Liara up first so she can (hopefully) make a better impression than he. He studies Mallick unassumingly as they approach. (Favored Target again) He grins with a thought crossing his mind.
Maybe my presence will unnerve him into saying something incriminating.

![]() |

Turning still frustrated at the lack of enthusiasm Liara continues walking to Mallick tapping him on the shoulder " excuse me I understand that you are busy but my companion and I have a few questions to ask you " she says trying to be kind to the man.

213 NPC Snig Lacrosse |

Snig looks distressed at the idea of moving ship. Don't like to be outside. He is clearly very afraid to move from his current position. Still, the convincing wording of Azura cause his to say Another ship? I'll try it., which is about as much as a confirmation one can hope to get from the Agoraphobic were-rat.

DM Kludde |

Hagrym and Darvik tear up the forward hold. While they find little related to the murder, to do find a bag of valuable stones stashed away under a floorboard.

![]() |

What have we here? Darvik says as they find the stones. We'll let the others know, could be important.
With that Darvik will move to the next area of the boat that has yet to be searched. Were we just in #7?

DM Kludde |

Aaaaah. No, I assumed you were in #10 (forward cargo hold), and not #7 (crew's cabin). Nobody has been in #7 yet.

![]() |

raising an eyebrow at the mans cooperation " well first off I would like to know where you were when the elf was murdered and who you were with" she says "also I would like to know who else has a key to the cabin or the capability to pick the lock from what we have gathered the only one with a key is you so it would be wise to speak up on this"

![]() |

Hagrym moves with Darvik. "Now let's take take anything from the crew's cabin. We want to keep them on our side."

Moving through the ship Eolowyn tries to get everyone gathered in their cabin.

Appears there is another crew-member we haven't met in #7 as well, so probably best not to take anything. ^_~

213 NPC Marzack Mallick |

Trying to frame someone else for the murder, eh? I was with that idiot of a captain we keep around here, talking 'bout crew discipline, when I heard the commotion. If I were you, I'd talk to Killick. He was first on the scene of the crime, but - as a cleric - did nothing to help Sephriel. Don't trust that old pirate!
Mallick looks smugly at Liara, contemptuous and taunting.

![]() |

Hagrym pokes Darvik, and nods toward teh man. "Ho there, Don't believe I've run across you yet. I'm Hagrym. Who are you?"

Darvik lets Hagrym do the talking while searching the rest of the room.

Loenor speaks up from behind Liara. "That doesn't answer how the murderer got in if you have the only key and the lock was not tampered with. Do you still have the key?"

213 NPC Killick |

The crews' cabin is jammed full of rickety cots and threadbare hammocks. There's a footlocker directly below Killick's cot.
Killick. the man responds. Look, I can talk to you, but you're going to have to pay for the privilege. You see, each moment that I spend talking to you, I lose out on opportunities in other areas. But we can talk for, say, 10 gp from each of you?

![]() |

" Implying that we are framing someone would indicate that we are guilty when we are not unfortunately for you claiming that the lock was tampered with and failing to providing any evidence is not a solid defense so I would get talking seeing that you are one of the prime suspects.. also hiding your guilt behind a veil of rudeness will not discourage justice" Liara says ignoring the mans rude words.

![]() |

And if we recall as Darvik ran down to check on the man, "Darvik speeds toward the manhole down, and immediately runs into Marzack Mallick, the boat's first mate."

![]() |

"If I remember correctly you were the first to come up from below decks on the aft side after the murder nipping that alibi at the bud please do continue to lie it is only pushing you closer to the edge of the ship" Liara says smugly even as she starts tip toeing behind her protector her hand around her holy symbol radiating negative energy.
SM if the one above is not usable: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

213 NPC Marzack Mallick |

Yeah, so? the first mate responds. If you recall, everyone except Ulamon and the captain were below. Killick just had a single look at the corpse, didn't even try to help. And that bodyguard? Gone! I swear to you, I heard him and Sephriel fight just moments before.
This guy is probably quite used to juicing up his stories, and he is juicing them up good.

![]() |

"Do I have to remind you that we're not the ones who own the ship? Or who are crew on this ship? How would your reputation fare if word got out the crew let their fare get murdered? It seems you have more to lose than we."

Eolowyn rummages in her pouch and throws 20 gold at the man
"Here is 20 for the four of us. If you make it worth it you will get the other 20. If it turns out you have squat to tell us...." she touches the hilt of her sword. "but you will tell us something usefull, won't you?"
![]() |

Azura frowns at paying a man for his own alibi, but she allows her fellow Andoran to take the lead. "Keep in mind you are as much a suspect as anyone, Killick. Where were you when Sephriel was murdered?" She watched the man closely for signs of deception.

Or at least I think she's Andoran, Shadow Lodge is showing again just now...

213 NPC Killick |

The man's face widens to accommodate a broad moustachioed smile as he grabs the gold.
Let me give you a rundown then. First myself: I was asleep in my cot last night, when I heard someone get up several. That isn't all unusual, but it still keeps me awake. I think almost everyone was asleep here, except for maybe the first mate and the cook Killick says, apathetically avoiding any names, the captain doesn't sleep here, and the entertainer usually doesn't either. The bodyguard was supposed to be on guard. Oh, and there's that smuggler in the hold - keeps close to his zoo all day.
So that makes the lookout, and the navigator.
That lookout was acting strange, challenging the elf for a game of knivesies the day before
I got up when the first mate shouted for help, found the elf already dead. he shrugs Mallick got frustrated when I couldn't do anything, but dead is dead.
For all Azura knows, he's telling the truth, with a grating amount of apathy.
