Tank hoped Joe or someone got the crane fast. This shield was really starting to hurt. Well not this time but it could. Sometimes.
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 Not even enough to hurt it.
Soak incoming damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 6) = 21x5=105 Or hurt me.
Sorry about the delay. Got absorbed in a story to the exclusion of pretty much everything else. Wandering Inn. You have been warned.
As for the game, I haven't really felt like I was roll playing as most of the rolls have been on the DM side. It's not a bad thing but I've always liked both sides of rpg's. I mean I want to move towards a system with less rules than pathfinder but this one makes them feel arbitrary. Feels like Mutants and Masterminds and I had trouble wrapping my head around that one. You're a fine DM but I don't think this is the system for me. Thanks anyway.
On the second hit, Tank reconsiders his choices. That one did more than tingle. A lot more than tingle. Holy s!*$. Blisters? When was the last time he had those? Anyone else and it might have actually killed them. The hell was up with this shield? And why was Jedi out but Vitality still kicking...well them? He looks over his shoulder and sees Joe heading for the crane. Yeah, that'll do it. With greater vigor, Tank hammers the shield some more, if only to keep the one inside distracted from Joe.
2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 x 2 = 14
Tank looked at his fist momentarily after he hit the shield. Little tingly. Little numb. He almost felt that. "Don't touch the shield," he says as he winds up to hit the shield again. Then something...happens. Something tried to grab him. He couldn't see it but he sure felt it and only instinct got him out of it. With a wild twist he pulls free and smashes the shield again.
2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7 x2=14
Control Collar? "The F&@*?" Oh that he could not stand for. He couldn't see through the illusion, couldn't see the person beneath, but it didn't mean he couldn't get a lucky hit. Tank takes a step forward and swings. Then another step and a swing. Rinse and repeat until he felt flesh or armor or whatever the HUSH agent was wearing. He was confident he could take whatever counter attack they threw back.
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 2) = 5 x2=10 Just swinging wildly until he can find something to grab.
Tank tests a few crates before finding one he can lift and begins to head back. They fight seems to be progressing well. Jedi appeared to be back on their side but Vitality was still fighting them. He wondered what was the difference for a moment. But it'd be moot once they stopped the kid in the tank, so he trudges back with a weapon.
Right. Map. Do I need to head to the stairs in the back to get to the crane? If yes then never mind. That will take to long. He'll go grab a crate instead. If the crane controls are close he's going to them to see if he can figure them out. That's what the roll was for.
DM Jubal wrote: Otherwise, you just see scattered crates. He'd have tried on at least but I guess that wasn't going to work.
Tank throws a crate at the hyperbolic chamber with predicable effectiveness. Not a scratch. Worth a shot at least. As he looks for something...smashier, he turns his head up and spies a 10 ton crane above. "That'll do." He races for the controls, hoping the keys were left in and it was easy to figure out.
2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 I have no idea what I am rolling.
Really tempted to pull some three stooges shenanigans while were beating up Vitality.
Seeing little he could do to help with Predator going all el luchador on Captain Vitality, Tank searches around for some weapon he could use to break into the tank and get to the source of all this madness. Assuming he finds something, Tank takes a whack at the reinforced glass.
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
Don't know what the rule is for hitting an inanimate object with a weapon. Guessing +1 to Brawn maybe?
He saw a crack. That worked? Hitting the tank with Vitality worked. He should feel a little bad about that but right now he just felt happy it worked. Too happy, it turns out, as he let's Vitality escape. "Oh no you don't," he says, reaching for Vitality again.
Grapple: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8 x3 = 24 Spend more points to make it happen.
Kenny was a little surprised he managed to catch a speedster. Those grappling lessons really paid off. "Sorry about this. But also not. You did clock me pretty good." Kenny shoves hard and aims Vitality at the tank. Two birds with one stone.
Wield Them: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6 x3 =18 Up to 10 again to make this work.
Damage Brawn +1: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8 x3 = 24
Kenny smiles. Success. He only sees Vitality as a blur that slams into him at tremendous speed. The hit feels like a teenager punched him. The fact that he felt it at all was a little worrying. But he didn't let the opportunity pass. He reaches out to grab Vitality before he can speed away.
Wrestling: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 x3 = 33 I'll add up to ten points to grab him if his defense is higher.
For a moment, Kenny is torn between jumping into the fight his comrades were engaged in and striking the obvious source of all the mischief going on here. But only for a moment. His whole shtick was to be the prime target. That meant going after the prime target. Kenny charges forward right for Lamont.
If there is a control panel:
He goes for the control panel first hoping it was simple enough for him to figure out.
If not:
He charges for the pod itself, crashing his fist into the glass in the hopes of shattering it.
2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 Here's a roll. x1 for smarts and x2 for strength. I'll add hero points enough to figure out the panel or break the glass if that will be enough.
"Alright. Knock some heads it is," Kenny says, following the rest of his team in. He was not prepared for what he saw. The kid they were looking for was screaming in pain and two of their own were trapped here as well. With no HUSH in sight? "Uh. Who's heads do we knock?"
"As much as I want to get in there and knock some heads," Kenny says with some heat. He let's it go with a breath. "I called in back-up and we're dealing with HUSH. I say make sure nothing gets out and wait for back-up. Think you can sneak in?" he asks Predator.
Tank's anger disappears for a moment as he looks at the phone confused. So the sword guy was a villain already? At least the spectral kid wasn't giving people power. But he could take over people who did have them. Scary prospect. "Oh. Well I wouldn't add the deaths today to his sentence...yet. Still looking into it." He hears and Predator confirm their location and hurries to follow. "Capes preferred for support. HUSH agents are usually powered individuals. Keep the police back and the EQUALIZER unit on standby. In pursuit. Over and out."
Yeah. Had to spend the rest of my vacation days before Christmas so I've had the last three Friday's off. Rule on weekend still stands. Just more weekend now.
Kenny cursed some more while he waited for someone to take point and track down the HUSH agents. For lack of better options and to give him something to do he called in their location and relayed the situation. "This is Tank at..." he looks for an address and rattles off the number and street. "HUSH operatives sighted at the scene. Probable kidnapping. Kids probably the unidentified cape, temporarily dubbed Locust, at the previous crime scene. Considering his actions and movement Locust should moved up to primary suspect in the murder case we're looking into. Reinforcements requested to pursue HUSH agents. Will update movement as we go."
He paces angrily, waiting for Joe to get a statement from the parents and for Predator-X to find their scent.
"JOE. JOE GET YER ASS OUT HERE AND HELP ME FIND THEM!" he yells back at the apartment building. He paces, too angry to contain the energy.
Am I on the right track thinking they kidnapped someone? Literally. Or killed a kid?
"Aw s#~&," Kenny says as he looks at the scene. He didn't need super smarts to know what happened. Battering ram. Anguished parents. HUSH fleeing the scene.
They got what they came for.
"S~&+, s#!$, s%#@. I'mma kill em!" he yells. True to his name, he barrels back out of the building like a Tank. His head swivels as he tries to see which way they went.
Can he still make them out or guess which way they went?
"Okay. That's not f*&&ing ominous," Kenny says sarcastically as the HUSH units ignore them and leave. And the only thing that stopped him from rushing them for turning their backs on them was Joe's comment about the ghost boy still being in the building. He walks up to said building, "Guns blazen or cloak and daggers?"
I'm still here. Was quite because of Thanksgiving.
Sneaking (pffft): 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Sorry, don't usually post on weekends. And the closer we get to Thanksgiving the less I would expect. Also Tank has 90 hits.
The HUSH uniforms give Kenny a momentary pause, memory of his beat down by one of URGENT's heroes is still fresh despite the months of training. He'd challenged that particular Super no less than 100 times since. Still he failed. And HUSH used real Supers too. Indoctrinated and fanatical. They'd be tough. They had to be smart. But smart wasn't really his thing. "Plan?"
"Didn't we just lock him up?"
You still haven't explained that and I am always in character. Except when I'm not. Vote is to follow the spirit boy.
"Whatever. Vengeance ghosted as soon as we were done here. Doubt we're going to catch him again."
Kenny wipes his hands together as if riding himself of the situation. He's decidedly more subdued now. Blood still stains the ground were the vengeful ghost took its anger out on the IB gang members. He scratched ideally at the wound on his chest. This thing was dangerous. "Hey Joe? Any idea what that Locust Locate thing was about?"
"Anyone...know what this...dude is babbling about." Tank grunts with exertion as he tries to hold the green clad villain steady. The very childlike scream almost made him loose his grip. What the hell was going on? Was this person possessed? Casting spells? Who died and why was she so angry about it? Well, once they were out and bound up, then they could ask some questions. There was little doubt this person was the culprit. Kenny gives the arms a twist, trying to incapacitate they quickly.
Grapple: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9x3=27
Crush: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8x2=16
Kenny did not have patience normally but when he was in combat, he had enough to wait for the right moment. And when it did, Kenny moved faster than his bulk suggested. He went from a headlock to a full nelson in one smooth motion, twisting around and under one arm to attack from behind.
Brawn Contest to Restrain him from attacking.
Brawn Contest: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6x2=12
At the strange feeling in his chest, Tank looked down to see his shirt ripped and a red line beneath across his chest. A bead of red liquid gathered at the edge and slid down, soaking into his shirt. S$@%. Those blades are serious, he thought. He was actually glad there were some people in URGENT that could disable or bypass his supernatural toughness. The first time he felt pain was not an enjoyable experience. For so long, nothing could harm him and his pain tolerance was abysmal. The first time he took a real hit he almost cried, it hurt so much. That was something he needed to work on and work he did.
"Oh shut up you broken record," he says as he goes for the mans flailing arms again. He was a better grappler than he was a brawler so he stuck to his strength and continued to draw the psycho's attention.
2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8x3=24 That's a little better. I want to attack but x2 versus x3 is a pretty big difference. Best stick with what works best. So I've taken 10 damage?
Tank doesn't bother with a snappy quip or humorous one liner. He stalks up the blade-wielder, heedless of the flying weapons or the bullets bouncing off his supernaturally-protected skin. He reaches in for the man's arms in an attempt to disarm or at least restrain his murder spree.
2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6x3=18 to wrestle
Cool, glad that worked. How is it I have 4 jump but 3 run?

I think you mean South Fist, Predator.
Kenny "the Tank" Harrison rolls his eyes at the gang members continue to fire at him. He doesn't even bother dodging, smiling as the bullets bounce off him. "If the first didn't work what makes you think the other 6 would? This is why you stay in school kids."
He prepares to physically throw the lightweight IB into his companions when a new challenger enters the field. And the new challenger does not pull punches, or blades. Kenny watches as two people slump to the ground. Two people that could have been the kind of murdering, thieving gang members were usually portrayed as. Or they could have been two people who had fallen on hard times and were doing what they could get by. Kenny drops the jovial brawler persona and glares daggers at the swordman. Over the comm he announces, "I think I found our killer, converge over here. Twin swords and green and blue outfit." Then to the gang members before him yells, "Out of the way!" Whether they listen or not, he charges forward, headless of the guns aimed at him.
I want to get to the green dude as fast as possible and hopefully prevent a few more deaths. My sheet says I have a jump of 4 squares which seems off. If I can I would like to do that and start grappling. If not, on the DM screen there is a Bowling for Minions maneuver. If the gang members are minions I want to bowl through them to get to the new guy. Or they can just get out of the way.
2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 x2 for bowling and x3 for grappling I think.
"Aw. Where ya goin buddy," Tank calls after the fleeing gang member. He takes a few steps in pursuit when he's struck by a few rounds. They don't even stagger him as they glance off. He looks at the spot one hit, scratches it, and continues forward. "Owwww," he says, a smile creeping onto his face. "That tickled." He walks carefully towards the IB lines and reaches out to grab on of the gang members.
Wrestling:Grab: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7x3=21
If this wins by 10 I can do another wrestling maneuver. I choose to damage his gun which is a Brawn damage roll. I assume hat's it's just 2d6x2 beacuse my Brawn is 2?
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7x2=14 damage to the gun
"This is also not the street. S#!+," Kenny says coming out the wrong side of the building. He charges the nearest Iron Bander yelling, "Let's see what an Iron Band yells when it bends."
Wrestling/Grappling/Grab something like that: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9x3=27
Kenny hits the man broadside with a flying tackle.
Kenny was fit. Fitter than most. But there was no way he was going to be able to keep up with Vengeance. Not by a long shot. Or apparently Livewire or Southfist. He'd have to wait for them to get close or make a mistake. And judging from the conversation, Vengeance didn't seem to be all there. His focus was a little for narrow. "Something up with him?" he asks over the comms.
But before he can even think about how to get on the roof, (starring up at a not-so-low-hanging ladder on the emergency exit on the side) the sound of gunshots can be heard from down the street. The fighting was already starting. He runs in the direction of the gunfire. "I'll draw fire. You guys start taking out gang members." He exits the building right in between the two fighting gangs and pauses, looking sheepish. "Uh, this isn't where I parked my car."
Assuming I can go through the building. Want to end up near the blue car.
"Thanks for the warning." Kenny has no more questions and instead takes some time to call HQ and warn them of a possible gang war on Drive. Hopefully they could get to the other scene and back to Drive before things got too messy.
Assuming we know the name of the victim from what the police said.
Kenny has a hard time not agreeing with Vengeance. He knew what he'd done as a thug bodyguard and knew what others had done. And the man before him was proof Vengeance' way worked in a demented kind of way. Dude was working a real job and no longer running with the Black Bones. So Kenny left it to others to decide that kind of stuff. He'd just stand in front of the bullets and crack some skulls if they were stupid enough to get too close. "You know anything about the victim down the road? Friends, buddies, family? No one's actually seen an attack yet and were looking for an actual witness."
If nothing else this man confirmed that Vengeance was bulletproof and used claws. But it sounded like something happened recently. Like something changed him personally and now his vengeance was personal.
"Which ever's closer man," Kenny says noncommittally.
"That...was fast," Kenny comments. It was only a few blocks. By foot or car that would mean this new player knew exactly what he was after or was just indiscriminately taking down hoodlums. It looked like each victim got a shot off though. Giving them a chance? Kenny looks to the witness. "You got any names on the punks this guy used to roll with?" They might have witnessed the scuffle and scattered.
He's a supernatural guy with claws and bulletproof." And every added detail was making this sound more fun by the minute. "And it sounds like we need ta hit the other crime scenes."
"Well keep at it and watch yer backs. Donuts are on me when you get back." He winks at the old cop joke and pats the the officer on the shoulder with force, knowing the armor could take it. Just a few months ago he'd be standing in the way of such officers. Now he was on their side. Life was weird. He gives the crowd one more pose as he waits for Joe to wrap things up.
With the Officers
"Nah. Vengeance was always too much of coward to finish what he started," Kenny says waving at the crowd. "So who's the chalk outline?" he asks pointing at the crime scene. "BB or IB?"
With the Group
"So bullet proof and blades? Ain't much to go on Wesk."
Streetwise on Vengeance: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
Kenny, knowing this was definitely not his forte, slaps Joe almost painfully on the back saying, "Guess that's you ghost whisperer." He then walks over to the URGENT officers to rub elbows, talk s&@#, pose for the crowd and generally be himself.
I know you said once per day but I don't usually have time on the weekends.
"Alright then, let's crack some skulls," Kenny says boisterously. "And then turn them over to the hospital for appropriate medical attention."
Smart phone? Not great but doable. At least keep us posted.
Do we get deployed by URGENT or do we act on our own initiative? If the latter that sounds like a it'd leave URGENT open to a lot of criticism and controversy.
"You keep winking at me like that and I might get the wrong idea. Gotta tell ya up front, not into fisting," Kenny says with a lurid, eyebrow waggle. He turns more serious as he focuses on the TV. "Black Bones and Iron Band's been like two rabid dogs chained just inches from each other. This might just be the last tug they need to pull the stakes and go for each others throats. New guy's either a moron bent on revenge or egg'n 'em on to see it happens. Either way, that street will be filled with blood if URGENT doesn't do something. The new guy and Vengeance both."
Forgot.
Streetwise: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
I don't think this gets a multiplier. If the gangs were named I would like to know about them. Also want to predict their response.
