Across time and space, the Daleks have terrorized countless planets and species, all in the quest to be the supreme beings of the universe. But one person has always been there to stop them. A person that even the Daleks fear. That person's name....is the Doctor. But the Daleks are prepared this time. They've shot the Doctor with a special weapon, one that will erase them from ever having existed. If something isn't done soon, the Doctor will fade away. Every invasion they stopped will succeed, every person they saved will die. A group of heroes must rise up and save the Doctor, or face the end of the universe as we know it at the hand of the Daleks.... Been a while since I've been on these forums, but I got the itch to run some Doctor Who again and thought I'd open up a recruitment thread here. I would run my own campaign, but I think this pre-made campaign is a good easing into the system. It'll also help get me used to doing PbP again. Just for clarification, this game use the Doctor Who Roleplaying Game published by Cubicle 7. Character creation rules:
Standard character creation as per the Core Rulebook, although if you wish to make a Time Lord, you may use the Advanced Time Lord Creation rules found in the Time Traveler's Companion sourcebook if you wish. You don't have to make a character if you don't want to. I am allowing you to play the various incarnations of the Doctor and their companions. Their stats can be found in the core book and the various Doctor sourcebooks. You may pick traits from all available sourcebooks, but just know that some traits may be restricted/off-limits due to how powerful they can be.
Just let me know if you have any other questions. I look forward to seeing your submissions!
So I finally got the chance to run IG with a group of friends and I'm really excited :)! So I thought I'd try to keep a campaign journal of their adventures. We had our first session last Thursday. The Characters: Heiser Jordan, Female Rakshasa-born Tiefling Kineticist (Overwhelming Soul) Cas Chisholm, Female Angel-born Aasimar Dread Necromancer (converted 3.5 class) Ani Lilith, Female Sylph Witch (Hedge Witch) Samantha, Female Changeling Investigator (Mastermind) Daruk Gozaggo, Male Oread Fighter (Two-Hand Fighter) So the party went to Dolga Freddert and accepted the mission to save Khonnir Baine, and immediately went to Joram Kyte to receive water breathing. They then headed to the caves, with Daruk being the only one to fail swimming to them, and Ani and Sam got sickened from the filthy water. The party hardly had any trouble getting through the caves, the kineticist and fighter often charging in. They killed the skulk tribe, Sam got hit by a spike trap, and the gremlins proved annoying. They completely missed the slime molds. They then reached the habitat module where they destroyed the repair robot, then beat the ghelarn. They began to explore the desert and were attacked by all but one of the kasatha skeletons, Cas having gained control of two of them, whose names are now Hans and Ada (He had also animated the skeleton of the dead half-orc in A2). One of the skeletons nearly killed Ani, but thankfully she stabilized and was given a potion of cure moderate wounds. They are now second level and are still in the desrt. I shall post another update after next Thursday's session.
The Doctor is in danger. During the Time War, he has been shot by a powerful Dalek weapon, and now his timeline is unraveling. If this is not stopped, the Doctor will be completely erased from history! Now, a group of adventurers must travel across time and space to save the Doctor and stop the machinations of the Daleks. Doom of the Daleks is a campaign for the Doctor Who Roleplaying Game by Cubicle 7. I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who and I've really been wanting to play this game and run this campaign. You may play an incarnation of the Doctor, one of his companions, another Time Lord, an alien,or nearly anything you can think of! Character creation rules:
Standard starting Character Points, Skill Points, and Story Points as per the core rules. If creating a Time Lord, you may use the Advanced Time Lord Creation and TARDIS creation systems found in the Time Traveller's Companion book if you wish. I do not have all the books. If you wish to use a trait or something else from a book I don't have, you will have to explain said trait, etc. to me Some traits will be restricted. Just ask me if you wish to know if a certain trait is restricted. You do not necessarily have to make a character if you don't want to. You may choose to play as one of the Doctors or one of his companions from the sourcebooks. I shall be picking players sometime this week or the next. Good luck :)
I recently got the latest version of the Doctor Who RPG and it looks fun, but no one plays RPGs locally and I can never find a game online. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in running a game online. I would prefer Roll20 but I could also do PbP. Just let me know if you're interested. Thanks. :) P.S.: I only got to the Series 6 episode Night Terrors before the show was taken off Netflix, so please no spoilers. Sorry, just a bit paranoid when it comes to spoilers.
As some of you may know, I recently expressed interest in using Pathfinder to play in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe. But now I realize that Star Wars Saga Edition might be a better system to do that in. The problem is, I'm terrible at statting things up from scratch in RPGs, so I might have trouble statting up the Mobile Suits. I haven't found any homebrew stats online, so any advice or ideas on how I could adapt Saga Edition to play within the Gundam universe?
I recently started getting into the Gundam franchise, and it's made me wonder how to do mecha in Pathfinder. I know about the construct armor rules, but I'm looking more for something where the players can make their own mechs. I thought about possibly making a mech race with the race builder to simulate mech customization, but I'm not sure if that would work. Any advice on how I could do Mobile Suit-Style mechs in Pathfinder?
It has been only a few months since the Galactic Republic was transformed into the Galactic Empire. Since then, the Empire has begun to tighten its grip on the galaxy, employing many anti-alien acts and oppressing the galaxy. Now, the galaxy needs heroes to rise up and save it from this corrupt government. It is aboard a small space station that the first sparks of rebellion begin... Gotten back into Star Wars recently (for obvious reasons, PS, don't spoil it for me.), so I thought I would try to run this campaign again, as the last time, it fizzled out. Standard character creation. You can use species and items from other sourcebooks as long as you provide a reference to where it is. Recruitment ends Saturday evening Central Time. Good luck :). *EDIT* Forgot some things. I have a house rule where Jedi automatically get Use the Force as a trained skill. Also if you are a Jedi, you must explain how you survived Order 66. Also, this takes place a few months after the end of the Clone Wars.
So I'm thinking of running a Saga Edition game set a year before the events of Knights of the Old Republic. I want to start it in a similar way, with Revan and Malak attacking a group of Republic starships, with the help of two other Sith (the BBEGs for the campaign) who happened to have their fleet in the same system. I want the opening to end with the PCs getting in escape pods and flying towards the planet below. However, there's still a lot I need help coming up with. For example, what the two BBEGs' ultimate goal is. I was thinking maybe they find a piece of Rakatan technology that could upgrade the Star Forge and make it even stronger, with them potentially plotting to keep this tech a secret from Revan and Malak in a plan to usurp those two, but I'm not sure if that would work. I also dunno what planet to have the opening battle over. I want it to have strategic value to both sides in the war, but also have it be somewhere that the PCs would not want to be (i;e,a Sith-controlled world, a wild world, or a world dominated by crime lords.) Any advice is appreciated. :)
Long ago, in the land of Aranstra, 4 adventurers made their way through the tomb of a long-dead priest of Zon-Kuthon, hoping to clear out threats that had recently been sighted coming from the crypt. They came to the area where the coffin lay and saw a glowing holy symbol of the pain god behind it. Thinking its dark energies were causing the disturbances, they smashed it. But to their horror, this was a trap, the priest's final act of cruelty in service to his sadistic god. For as the symbol was destroyed, it opened a portal to the Plane of Shadow, calling forth a horde of kytons and other shadow beings into the world. The adventurers were bathed in shadow energy and were transformed into servants of the Shadow Plane. The summoned army continued to pour forth as it marched to recreate the world as Zon-Kuthon envisioned it. The Aranstran government took drastic measures to counteract the invasion. They issued a very strict and hated law: Adventuring is outlawed. No one was allowed to leave the settlement they resided in. Walls were raised and guards were doubled. Many attempted escape, but most were captured and sent to the Crater, a hole in the ground built as a prison on the nearby continent of Girakesh. They were forced to stay put as the military fought against the oncoming horde. You are a descendant of one of the 4 who delved into that tomb many years ago, born from the bloodline of their children who had been waiting for them to come home. You dared to escape your home, to fight back against the cruel beasts. But you were caught and now your fate seems to be to sit in your cell in the Crater, never to have your freedom until the shadows are beaten back..... This will either be a PbP or it might be my first ever Google Hangouts game, if there's interest in that. It is in a homebrew setting, but for backstories, you don't have to name specific cities, towns, villages, etc. I'm looking for 4 players. Character Creation:
20 point buy No 3rd-party material Any class from a Paizo rulebook, but if it's an unchained version, you'll have to link me to it, as I don't have that book. All races below 20 RP except fetchlings, wayangs, drow, duergar, svirfneblin, and other similar races. Average starting gold Max HP at 1st level, Average afterwards Looking for good roleplayers who also love good combat. Can't wait to see everyone's applications. :)
Recently, I've been getting into doing PbP since it's easy and convenient. However, I've always wanted to run a group the old-fashioned way: Around a table, dice in the middle, GM behind a screen. However, I can never get one going, and my friends are usually too busy to commit to a weekly game, and I'm not sure if they are still interested in Pathfinder. So how should I go about getting a group together? I know about the Gamer Connection forum, but due to my younger age, I'm hesitant to post there as it may bring unwanted attention, if you know what I mean (No offense to the Paizo community though, it's a good community, one of my favorites in fact :))
So recently I started to think about world building again, as I love creating worlds, so thought I'd see if anyone would be interested in working together with me to create a setting and then we could run campaigns in it. Now, I have considered 2 methods of doing world building. One is to use a system called Dawn of Worlds, where you play as gods creating the world, and you get a certain amount of power points per turn to spend on alterations of the world. The other method is to just have discussion and talk about what we want for the campaign setting. We would discuss the different aspects of the world and add to it gradually. So lemme know if you are interested and what method you would prefer. :)
The sun rises once more on the desiccated corpse of Astrexos, the wind whipping across the barren plains and broken mountains. The animals, both native and alien, all rise to begin another day of survival. And so do the people. If you live in Karagas or have stayed the night in an inn::
You awaken to hear much of the town already bustling. The merchants begin calling out that they are open for business, while Mayor Arag comes on the town intercom to give the morning greeting and discuss recent events. The Military Police begin their rounds, marching through the town in their black armor with yellow stripes and carrying their arc rifles, with their stun guns at their side. If you are arriving in Karagas::
You approach the town of Karagas, a town with scrap-metal buildings, guards awaiting you at the gate in their black armor with yellow stripes, and.....a giant scorpion robot with chainguns mounted on the front watching your approach. As the guards let you in, you witness many people bustling about, merchants crying out that they are open, and the Military Police making their rounds, wielding arc rifles with stun guns at their sides.A voice also is being projected over town, greeting everyone and discussing recent events. You may describe what you do as you arrive/wake up.
I've recently started to get into the kaiju genre and I was thinking about doing a campaign based around a large coastal city that is constantly attacked by kaiju, with the PCs being caught up in it all.I was also planning on making it a bit like the Godzilla movies and have Mogaru make an attack on the city at first but then have him defend the planet from other giant monsters. However, I'm not sure what to have the PCs do. I did have the idea of doing it Pacific Rim style and have them pilot giant constructs but I'm not sure how to do rules for mecha or drive-able constructs in Pathfinder. Any advice is appreciated.
Astrexos, a desolate planet where life is an everyday struggle. Long ago, a war was waged in the stars above between the Astrexian Armada and the Rarnag Imperium, a tyrannical group who had conquered many worlds. The Astrexians were able to fight off their adversaries, but they soon discovered the horrible aftermath. Pieces from the destroyed starships from the war had fallen onto the planet, causing it to change. Radiation had seeped into several regions, causing horrid mutations. Magical laboratories had exploded on impact causing rifts between the planes. The planet had become a wasteland, where only the toughest survived. Today, the Astrexian government attempts to keep order among the wastes, but even they realize that they preside over a dying world. Astrexos needs heroes now more than they ever have, even during the war. Heroes like you. This is a homebrew fantasy/sci-fi campaign where you will journey across Astrexos, making your name one that strikes fear in some hearts and hope in others. Character Creation Rules:
20 point buy or 2d6+6,your choice Standard and advanced races only No 3PP materials or occult classes Max starting gold for your class Max HP at 1st level, roll afterwards You are allowed to have technological items if you can afford them. Recruitment ends Sunday at midnight Central Daylight Time, which is technically Monday lol. Can't wait to see the character ideas :).
Don't get me wrong, I like GMing but I'd also like to get to play. I'd like to play in any APs except RotRL (as I'm currently runinng it.) I'd especially love to play in Iron Gods,Kingmaker,or Wrath of the Righteous. But I'd also be interested in homebrew campaigns. Just lemme know about your campaign and I'll see if I'm interested :).
The town of Sandpoint is alive with excitement, as not only is today the day of the Swallowtail Festival, a special festival honoring Desna, but it is also the day for celebrating the town's new cathedral, built after the first one was mysteriously burnt down a few years back. Children run around, playing and screaming with happiness, while the adults gather around and discuss many different subjects. Please describe what your character is currently doing.
Ya know....I'm tired of seeing my copy of RotRL just sitting around not getting used. So I thought, "Well, I could always find a group on Paizo's forums. :)" Character Creation::
1st level All standard and advanced races allowed No gunslingers, ninja, samurai, or occult classes. 15-point buy or roll 2d6+6, your choice. Average starting gold for your class. I expect at least a post a day during the week. Note that I will not be available some weekends. I will be choosing players Monday. I can't wait to see your character concepts :).
As I'm sure it's obvious since I'm on this site, I love Pathfinder. It has awesome game mechanics, the world Paizo has built is fantastic, and it introduced me to tabletop roleplaying. However, one thing about it intimidates me. As an aspiring writer, I love the idea of doing homebrew campaigns and settings. However, I'm afraid to do them because of treasure. There's so much treasure in the game that I could give to players, but I have no idea what to put as treasure within rooms and for some reason, that makes me wanna stick to modules, even though I really wanna do homebrew stuff. I have posted about this before, but I just thought I'd post again since I've been thinking about doing homebrew campaigns: Is it weird to feel intimidated by this part of the game and what would be a good solution?
War...war never changes. Ever since the first weapons were created and were then used against other humans, war has gripped the mind of humanity, shifting the balance of power and causing destruction. It was thought after the bombs fell in 2077 that war had reached its peak, that the Great War was the one to end all wars. But war,war never changes. Even after the bombs, great battles raged across the waste between survivors. One such battle took place in the Mojave Wasteland, where the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion faced off for control of the Hoover Dam for the second time. The battle was decided with the help of the Courier, who turned the tide of the battle. You live in a small village that sprung up after those events. How you got here is known only to you and a few others perhaps, but you have heard the legend of the Courier ever since you came here. Your life is about to change, though, as danger is always around, even in the safest of settlements, and war.....war never changes. This is a Fallout PnP campaign using the rules with the Matthew Standley update. The only restriction on race is no deathclaws. You may pick at least 2 weapons to start with that are 500 caps or under. If they require ammo, you get 3 clips of normal ammo for it. You may also have a suit of armor that is 500 caps or under. Same goes for helmets. You also have 1,000 caps to spend on chems and other miscellaneous equipment. I will pick players in 2-3 days. I can't wait to see the submissions :). Also, as a side note, the players will also get to decide amongst themselves what choices the Courier made during the events of FO: NV. This will affect the world and change some areas.
While I am running another Saga Edition campaign on these forums, I thought I'd run a sandbox campaign to help me get used to the rules. It is set in the Clone Wars era. Character Creation Rules:
The game will start a few months after the Battle of Geonosis. I shall be selecting after I've received a good number of applicants. I need 3 more players. Good luck :).
I've been wanting to either play in or run a Star Wars game for awhile, but since I can't find one to play in, I thought I'd run the Dawn of Defiance campaign as it seemed interesting. Character Creation rules:
This campaign takes place several months into the Dark Times, the period following the Jedi Purge where the Empire is tightening its grip on the galaxy. If you play a Jedi, explain how you escaped Order 66 in your backstory. I will be checking back to see who applies and I will let you guys know when recruitment is over. Good luck and may the Force be with you :).
There are many games out there that are enjoyable and great, yet very few people get to experience some of them. What obscure or little-known games are your favorites? My favorite obscure game is not too obscure, I think, but it sure feels like it. The game is Timesplitters: Future Perfect. I've always heard the second one is better, but I've never played it, only Future Perfect. It is my favorite FPS of all time. I love time-travel, and this game combines good FPS action with plenty of humorous moments in the story. The multiplayer, however, is the best part IMO. Hundreds of ridiculous characters to play as, loads of fun weaponry, good amount of game modes, lots of match settings, and some pretty awesome maps make the multiplayer something that I love to play in old-school couch split-screen with my friends. Add in plenty of challenge modes and a map editor, and to me, Timesplitters: Future Perfect is (no pun intended) the perfect FPS.
You had an ordinary life (or as ordinary as it can get, depending on your occupation), you were doing well for yourself. But tonight, everything changes. Tonight, terrible things will happen. Tonight, insanity will rule. Can you survive? I know this game system isn't well-liked among Lovecraft fans, but I wanna run a game using it where the PCs must survive in a city ruled by the horrors of the Mythos. It will take place in the Modern era. Character Submissions will end Tuesday night before midnight strikes. Thank you for submitting if you choose to. :)
I have been thinking about running a LOTR campaign using Pathfinder rules here on the forums as a PbP. I was wondering if these house rules are appropriate for this type of campaign.(P.S. the PCs would be replacing members of the Fellowship and could make different decisions than in the books and movies.) Character creation:
15 point buy
Campaign systems being used:
Hero Points
So would these work? Any advice is appreciated :).
I'm making an aasimar gunslinger for Iron Gods, and I don't know which of these 2 archetypes to pick. I want Mysterious Stranger because I want this character to be a bit of a wisecracker, plus I like the abilities it gives. But I feel Techslinger might be more helpful, since from what I hear, my black powder gun will only be useful during the first book. Which should I pick?
Hello folks and welcome to the recruitment board to enter the world of Theloras. It is a homebrew setting I made a while back but never used and now I wanna dust it off. The campaign setting info will be located in the campaign info tab. Also wanted to give my players even more choice for this campaign soooooo..... I am letting you guys vote from 4 possible stories for the campaign! But first, character creation rules:
Now for the story choices: Hunger for Life:
The vast kingdom of Sonorn is usually a rough, but generally peaceful region. But recently, turmoil has raged across the land. King Zakur's court wizard is missing. Sorcerers are murdered in strange and macabre ways. The mysterious Assassunae Destructor have been committing crimes that are not their style. You have been summoned by the king to help solve these mysteries and bring tranquility back to the land. Spinning Cat, Raging Bull:
The ruler of the city of Karasaki,Toshirashi Sayako on the continent of Kabuto has no blood-related children left after years of war with their rivals, the people of Haysamo, and he is growing old. He declares his apprentice and adopted son Sujiko, a catfolk, as his heir. An outrage erupts from this, as some defend this choice while others fight against it. Even further complicated by the war with Haysamo, you arrive in Kabuko amidst the rebellion and war-torn land and are dragged into the mess. Song for the Dead Immortals:
The land of Darenthil is in the midst of a great war as the drow, demon-corrupted elves who were banished beneath the earth long ago, have broken out of their earthy prison and now construct war-cities to battle their surface-dwelling kin. This war has raged for years, but now a chance to defeat the drow monarchy is at hand. You are brought to Darenthil as mercenaries or new recruits sent by King Zakur. The elven king Tarenthil has a plan for you to end this bloody war. Theloras is Your Oyster:
A sandbox where you just explore the world as you wish, making your own adventures by exploring (of course with telling you what awaits in the dark and such) Voting for the story will end this Wednesday night at midnight Central US time and I will select the party next Monday at the same time. Also, I am new to doing PbP so might need help getting used to it. Campaign info will be up soon. Have at it with the character submissions!
As I'm sure most or some of you know, Obsidian now has the rights to make Pathfinder video games, starting with an adaptation of the Pathfinder card game for tablets. But I got to thinking about what other games they could make. My ideas are as follows, but I would like to know everyone else's thoughts on what future Pathfinder games you would like to see. 1.A Dragon Age or Skyrim-style RPG based in the Worldwound 2. A turn-based strategy RPG using the Pathfinder rules and using Rise of the Runelords as its story.
I have been thinking of an idea for a Nagaji paladin of Apsu who decides that he no longer considers the naga gods and doesn't want to serve them anymore. My question is would a nagaji, having been created by the naga, actually be capable of such thought or would the naga be able to purge those thoughts since they are the nagaji's creators? And if so, what would be the repercussions of saying or thinking that and then leaving the nagaji society?
I'm usually the kind of person who just wings it on campaigns, coming up with encounters and maps on the fly. But I am currently attempting to outline a campaign for the first time. Now this is hard for me to do due to the fact that I'm not good at dungeon design or making treasure. So any advice on how to outline a campaign well? P.S if details for my campaign are needed to help, just lemme know
