Whoops. Should have kept reading the second wind rules instead of reading what I thought was enough. Pg 146. You recover a quarter of your full hp or your constitution score whichever is higher. So that's 15 for me instead of 8. That puts me at 29 hp currently.
Okay. I've seen it done both ways, so I thought I'd ask.
Sorry Cora/Warhawk7, I was mostly kidding and the other part of me just wanted a mechanical hook for roleplaying.

You're fine. I'm hoping Cora's RP purposes for being a crappy shot with a blaster won't effect the group too much. I think it effectively shows her age and inexperience though. When she picks up scoundrel next level, she will pick Prof (pistols) for her 1 starting feat. Perhaps she learns from one of you guys.
I've been there... I played a Jedi in a homebrew dark times campaign. I distinctly recall taking five attempts to shoot out a stationary camera...
I'm also having a good time. Thank you Souldragon. If you couldn't tell though, I an completely new to this system. I've been trying to get into this game for years. So rare and the book is expensive. I am using a pdf core rulebook only. I apologize in advance for any missteps. I am also open to pointers. I have a good solid concept of Ryn. There is not much canon on Twi'lek and some mechanics puzzle me. Such as skills. We only train the 6+ in the beginning and not every level, correct?
That's right. If you want more skills you can take the feat: Skill Training, which gives you training in one skill. ( You can only pick skills on your class skill list (If you multiclass the you can pick from that classes skills too.
If you want to increase you trained bonus you need to take the Skill Focus feat (which gives you another +5. Other than that you just get to add half your level, your trained bonus and the stat bonus.
I love the Saga system. I think it's my favourite Star Wars edition. Haven't played it in a while though.
Definitely mine as well, although the Fantasy Flight game isn't too bad - it's just expensive.
I had the fortune of Saga coming out while I was still in college with no significant bills to worry about, so I was able to buy each book the month it came out for a while. I eventually had to stop doing that, but was able to complete the set at Gen Con a couple of years ago.
If you think trying to find the Core Rulebook is hard, try finding Starships of the Galaxy. I don't know why, but for some reason that book is near-impossible to find, and incredibly expensive when you do.
By the way, Cora/Warhawk7, please don't take offense from Kalus's attitude towards you. He's going to call you out on your inexperience a lot, at least for a while.

@Souldragon I didn't see backpack on gear list of items to purchase. I would think that Ryn needs some kind of backpack or over-sized hand bag for some of her gear.

I really like Fantasy Flights Star Wars too. I bought the Edge of the Empire book and ran an adventure with it. I liked the dice system but by the end of the adventure I wasn't sure I could run a long campaign with it. The PCs seemed to get really powerful super quick.
One of the few things I don't like is the limit to Skills. I know Jedi are already a relatively "powerful" class, but if you don't have a high enough Intelligence score the maximum number of trained skills is 2. Take in the fact that 9/10ths of a Jedi's abilities require Use the Force as a trained skill, they really only get 1 skill with a 10-11 Intelligence. Burning a feat to get another skill to me is meh.
I have all of the Sage Edition books in PDF form. I have the Core Rulebook, KoTOR Era Sourcebook (of course!), the Jedi Academy Training Manual, and the Starships of the Galaxy hardcover books as well.

Maybe the trade off for the Jedi's lack of skills is all the talents you can pick that allow you to use the Use the force skill in the place of another skill.
Although there are only four in the core book.
Pilot
Perception
Persuasion
Initiative...
It's a bit of a talent tax too. But good when you get skill focus Use the force.
They have pretty much every skill in the game as a talent at one point or another.
The d20 version resulted in a game where non-Jedi were constantly overshadowed because Jedi could be good at ordinary skills and had Force powers to boot. WotC sought to balance the classes out a bit more.
The underlying system is excellent, but the Jedi got the short end of the stick. And since Intelligence is the only stat they don't need for anything but skills, the class often got short changed.
A common opinion held in the player community was that class did not equal what your character was, and people would often take a different class at level 1 along with the Force Sensitive feat, plus Force Training if they were Human, and would then multi class into Jedi after that for lightsaber proficiency. They would then say their character was a Jedi, even though level 1 was a different class.
True. probably should have gone that route, but I would't have been able to start with a lightsaber. In my home games, a personal house-rule was that Use the Force was automatically a trained skill that did not count against their skill choices at 1st level.
If you'd been able to afford it, you could have bought it, but agreed, it does make it so it's harder t start with one. It definitely required some house ruling, though.
A lightsaber is 3000 credits, far more than I would have been able to afford.

Sorry guys, had a day off so I spent it replaying some of my favorite SW games. Also, Cora, I have been thinking of my first homebrew SE game being a KOTOR one, since that's one of my favorite eras.
Cool beans. I LOVE the KoTOR Era. The sourcebook I have was the last one the bookstore had, so I was all "yoink!" and bought it. I was debating on the Starships of the Galaxy book, but when I opened it up for the first time at the store, I opened it up to the Dynamic-Class freighter (Ebon Hawk). I felt that it was a sign, so I bought that book too. Eventually, I managed to get all the books on PDF. I also was working on my own homebrew campaign sector hidden in the Unknown Regions.
I saw an update in this thread from you and thought "oh sweet maybe SD was considering my house-rule for Use the Force!" LOL.
Also, I really wish I could play in a SW:SE campaign. Not that I don't enjoy GMing (because I do a lot :)) but I hardly ever get to play in RPGs , I usually end up GMing.
That house rule does seem to make a lot of sense, might adopt that one :).
Maybe someday I'll run a SWSE PbP campaign based in my homebrew sector. It takes place around the same time as the game The Old Republic, so Sith and Jedi are present.
As someone who has run several games during The Dark Times, an all-Sith game, and having fleshed out concepts for two Old Republic games, I am there with you. Rarely do I get to play in Star Wars, as I typically find myself running them.
By the way, Kalus is about to freak out a bit about Cora being a Jedi. I apologize.
These Saga games are somewhat rare in pbp. This is only the second one I have seen since I have been on the boards.

I know everyone is going to freak out. Don't forget, she's a young, naive, teenage girl. Yes she was trained as a Jedi, but she really wasn't done her training when the Empire came-a-knockin'.
