I am getting more and more excited for PaizoCon by the day! So many people (staff and volunteers) are hard at work on making this event fire, and I am glad to get to be a part of it from the other side this time. <3

I'm also STOKED to get Liane to sign my book too!

Hi, Ivis here. Let me be clear, I am coming here as an author, and a GM, to share the answers as I run them. Hopefully, this can help with gm consistency.

The.Vortex wrote:

I am currently preparing to run this scenario. The first encounter seems to have two contradictory instructions:

However, their resolve is shaken, and Jamimpi will surrender if reduced to low enough health (see Creatures below). A critical success adds 10 to this HP threshold [...] If any PC critically succeeded on the above Request or Coerce checks while trying to get them to stand down, Jamimpi surrenders when reduced to 20 Hit Points (30 for levels 11–12) [...]. Otherwise Jamimpi fights to the death, believing it is the only way to protect Csilla from herself.

Which one would be the correct one to use? I can't follow both instructions.

My Table Call

If any PC succeeded on the above Request or Coerce checks while trying to get them to stand down, Jamimpi surrenders when reduced to 20 Hit Points, 30 on a critical success (30 & 40 for levels 11–12).

The.Vortex wrote:

Later on, there is another contradiction, though a less severe one:

Quote:
If the group obtains a number of these equal to the number of PCs, they trigger the Gug Guardians encounter [...] This combat is triggered by either accumulating 5 Observance Points, or[...]

My Table Call

A number of these equal to the number of PCs, the Ropers are triggered at double this number.

The.Vortex wrote:

1. On high tier, a crit fail on a certain save will most likely outright kill a character. On Low tier it doesn't do that. Why the difference? High Tier Characters are not better equipped to deal with such an ability in any way.

2. The "Endless" ability was changed from 1 minute to 1 hour in both subtiers. That is a good thing, otherwise the fight might happen multiple times.

My Personal Reason

The highest tier in ANY scenario has more in and out of game resources to handle the aftermath than the lower one. You're also fighting under the LITERAL DARK TAPESTRY - it SHOULD be deadly. However, dealing with it once is all you should be - which is part of the regen ability being extended from a minute to an hour.

My Table Call
I make sure that all players have access to a minimum of 1 Hero Point going into that room, in order to have the best shot at dealing with their dice.

mizinamo wrote:
Also, the scenario has the Vigilant Seal tag, but has no "Faction Notes" which give Reputation with the Vigilant Seal faction under certain circumstances.

My Table Call

This is most likely to call out the choice at the end. I give Rep with the PCs individual factions as stated in text.

andreww wrote:
Hound of Tindalos bite and claw damage are both listed as 2d10. The claws are agile and listed as 2d8 in the regular creature.

My Table Call

I run as the stat block, because otherwise there isn't a reason to utilize the jaws.

andreww wrote:
At the start of the scenario it says it may be difficult to recover the PCs if they die.

My Table Call

Since this is in box text, I treat it as flavor, since there isn't a sidebar or anything that calls it out anywhere else.

andreww wrote:
Encounter B2, the text says at 9-10 you start with 2 weak ropers, the encounter section at the back suggests it is 1 normal roper with weak ropers added at higher CPs.

My Table Call

The balance at the back, since it follows the Game Mastery Guide encounter Balance for a Moderate encounter, which is what it is stated to be.

I hope this helps others with clarity and consistency.

OK. So we have THREE options for new PCs:

1. Vanilla ability boosts as printed
2. 2 free boosts and no flaws, any ancestry
3. Old optional flaw system

Is this correct?

As I understand it, yup.

Nic's arrow pierces through the brute, causing him to stumble and roar as the arrow goes cleanly through his arm. Delta and Zelen simultaneously attack as he is stumbling, his misstep causing them to miss with their attacks. As Watson goes to guide Ulvard, his greatsword swings true, first slicing off the zombie's arm, and then cleanly chopping off his head.

With that, the immediate threat is over. However, the passengers of the caravan are more antsy than before, and even Arek and Andri seem shaken. Arek looks to you, speaking in a quiet voice, "I think we need to get moving before anyone else comes after us." He then echoes a similar sentiment to the others, moving to quickly gather up the camping supplies and load the wagons. Others move to join him as they shake off their shock, and the camp is broken down much faster than the previous morning.

Once the caravan is packed, the group is able to leave, heading out into the fog. Though the fog remains heavy throughout the morning, the sounds of the forest quiet, and nothing more than the occasional chirping of a bird is heard.

Right before lunch, the caravan enters the bustling town of Caliphas. Once they reach the marketplace, the Graghol's pull the wagons off to the side, and Arek begins to unload. Andri comes over to you, thanking you profusely for your help, admitting clearly that they would not have survived the trip without you. She then pays you each your reward of four gold, and bids you farewell as she goes to help her brother with the wagons.

With that, you have survived your travels on the Tireless Path!

I want to echo Alex's sentiments about PaizoCon - it was great getting to be there, and meet so many people in person (especially those that previously were only "virtual" acquaintances). Also seeing the energy in the Org. Play room the whole weekend was motivating, energizing, and rewarding for me personally. I hope that I get to meet even more of the awesome people in our community at GenCon.

Also, congrats to all of the new coin holders, especially one of my partners in crime - David Peever! Welcome all of you to the club, for each and everyone of you has earned your place at the table.

Ok - so first my apologies. Between PaizoCon and real life medical I got behind, and then posting again has been causing anxiety cause it was late, which would then cycle and get worse until I was much further behind here than I thought - and for that I am really, really sorry. (I also just realized I had the PM on here, I'm not the best at noticing them at times). CanisDirus got in touch with me earlier and I talked this out, and I think I am okay to pick this back up as long as y'all are okay keeping me as your GM. I am planning to try and get the post up moving us forward before I head to bed this evening.

If you mean signing up for games to play. The games are listed in PaizoCon 2022's Warhorn. Make sure that you filter to only see the games for online play.

This is not open to the public yet, which is why it hadn't been shared. Because gms have some choice in what they are running, we have more games on the schedule than GMs. As such, this schedule will be culled before it is officially shared.

I promise we will have this information out for players to see in time to look it over before player registration opens, and when we do you will see it in a blog.

Replying to Coptidel (in elven), "Barad can be very vicious with his words, and often they are sharper than his sword. He means no ill to you or Avonathalanthalasa, only wanting the greatest good for us all."

Nope, the base of the idea actually is derived from the character of Amarië in The Silmarillion, flavored by some of ideas from Lúthien's story. From there, it was things we spun up on our own for Barad and Amarië.

As everyone else is gathered, an elf with golden hair and violet eyes steps out from behind her companions. Amarië then curtseys to everyone in turn, somewhat apprehensively towards Avonathalanthalasa. "I am glad to meet you all as we step forward to assist our societal brethren in this endeavor. I will try to stay out of front liners way, as I tend to be better at talking my way out of things than trying to hit them."

She then looks at Avonathalanthalasa, and addresses her in elven, "It's been a long time since I have seen another from Kyonin. It is good to see someone from home, even if not under the circumstances I would have wanted."

Accompanying Amarië are a small raccoon as well as her lady Cassenia Ainur. They stick closely to Barad and André when possible.
