The Show Must Go On!
![]() Welcome! We'll be starting on 2 March. Please sign in to RPGChronicles here. Please let me know: Have you played or GMed this scenario before? Glyphs to share? Anything weird about your character that I or the party should know about? (Trap finding, unusual reactions, void healing, etc.) ![]()
The Show Must Go On!
![]() The messenger boy approaches each of you and hands you a letter closed with a wax seal of the Glyph of the Open Road. The missive within directs you to meet J Dacilane, the Headmaster of the Dacilane Academy, in front of the Grand Lodge first thing the following morning. Upon arrival the next day, a few other Pathfinders are milling about. One very senior agent is chatting with the Headmaster. You each elect not to interrupt, given that the Pathfinder in question is so senior she has an entire volume of the Pathfinder Chronicles written about her missions alone. And she is well known for having little patience with junior agents not worthy of joining her on missions. Instead, you take a moment to introduce yourselves to the others holding similar missives to yours. ![]()
The Show Must Go On!
![]() Three players so far, but we'll wait to see who joins from the other session to decide if/when we open for recruitment. In the meantime, please let me know: Have you GM'd or played this quest #20 Dacilane's Academy Show Must Go On)? Has this character played or gotten GM credit for either #4-16 Dacilane Academy’s First Great Prank War OR #3-18 Dacilane Academy’s Delightful Disaster? Has this character played or gotten GM credit for any other Dacilane Academy scenario? As much as I would like to, I don't want to count on finishing before Outpost starts on 2 March, so please plan accordingly for character selection. ![]()
The Show Must Go On!
![]() As you each arrived in Kintargo (see map on Slide 2), you were met at the docks by a messenger boy who bade you wait until all the agents had assembled. Now you find yourselves being led into a somewhat damaged shop. Discarded papers and debris have mostly been cleaned up, but the location has clearly been burglarized. Further in the backrooms, you find several chairs positioned around a table. Your guide asks if you would prefer coffee, tea, or other similar, refreshing beverages, and then departs to prepare them to your order. Silence settles over the room as you wait…. ![]()
The Show Must Go On!
![]() Closed recruiting. Q2 #21 Infernal Infiltration for the Impossible Playtest. For those brining a different character than what you played in Footstep of Horror, please let me know if there's anything weird or unusual, or any automatic checks you get (ala Trapspotter, etc.) ![]()
The Show Must Go On!
![]() Ambrus Valsin nods to each of you as you take your seats at the large oaken table in Meeting Room #5 on the second floor of the Grand Lodge. He waits until you are all seated before beginning the briefing. ![]()
The Show Must Go On!
![]() While we wait to start, please allow me to lay out the ground rules, which are designed for fairness and consistency, while keeping the game moving at a pace to ensure we finish in a timely manner. ⚔ Please have a complete character profile here on the Paizo forums, not a link to a pdf or character sheet hosted elsewhere. Please have either full text descriptions of feats and character abilities or links to the SRD or Nethys so that I and your teammates don’t have to go digging thru source-books when there’s a question. ⚔ Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is. If you’re benefiting from a Level Bump, please update your header tag lines at least. I don’t expect you to update your whole character profile, but at least let me know if you have or haven’t for when I look up skills for secret rolls, etc. ⚔ I roll group initiative and track character actions by block. Unless you state you are waiting for another to act, I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted to the extent that it makes sense, as those posting later have the benefit of acting based on what’s come before in the thread. ⚔ You may delay to a later position in the initiative sequence as usual. ⚔ If I make a mistake, please let me know, and I will try to make it right. If it’s too far back, too complex to correct, or too minor to matter, we may have to accept it and move on, with the understanding that I will be fair and equitable. ⚔ I generally prefer PCs to roll their own saving throws, flat checks, and reactions. It keeps the game moving, and by reducing my workload it means I may be able to make a quick post when I otherwise wouldn’t have had time. ⚔ I like a relatively fast-paced scenario. However, do be aware that my posting can be irregular. ⚔ If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting. Likewise, I will do my best to update you all if it will be significantly more than 24 hours before my next post. Nomadical’s unusual life, for those that are unfamiliar:
The name says it all. I’m a long-haul international cargo airline pilot who is intentionally and happily homeless. Many of my work days are spent sleeping as much as I can right up to the wake-up call before a flight, flying one or more legs between 8 to 16 hours long, then falling into bed at the next hotel. My employer’s jets do not have wifi because the boxes we carry don’t need to check their email or watch movies in flight. So it’s not unusual for me to not be able to post for 30+ hours on occasion. However, when I’m not sleeping or flying, I’m off duty in a hotel somewhere in the world with no responsibilities, and that’s when I can post as much as I need to and keep the game moving along. Questions? Just let me know. Let's have fun! ![]()
![]() Welcome to the Recruitment thread for Quest Series 2, #15 In the Footsteps of Horror. This is a Series 2 Repeatable Quest. It will take longer than a bounty but less time than a full Scenario and provides 2 XP and no Downtime. Recruitment is generally first-come-first-served. However, I do require that you have a full and complete Character Profile with a reasonably useful header built and accessible here in the Piazo Forums before we start. Please do not send or simply link to pdf’s or other online character sheets. Because I simply don’t have the brain-space to memorize every feat and ability, your Profile should either fully spell those out or be linked to the SRD or Nethys. Three spots are being held for UncleFroggy, Pirate Rob, and Black Molly. Sub-tier is TBD at this time, though Black Molly is level 4 for sure. ![]()

![]() In the city of Oppara, the Pathfinder Society has been investigating a recent crime spree that targeted the assets and allies of Grand Princess Eutropia, Taldor’s new monarch who came to power following the War for the Crown. The Society has learned of the group responsible for these crimes, but it has more work to do if it’s going to untangle the web of deception and get to the heart of the treasonous conspiracy. Gloriana Morilla, a trusted ally and former Pathfinder leader, has concocted a plan to draw out the Society’s enemies. For her plan to work, she’s going to need agents who are willing to take some risks, as there’s no telling what sinister forces might be responsible for the recent crimes in Oppara. The plan starts like this: first, try to flee the city… but make sure they see you doing it! ![]()

The Show Must Go On!
![]() You’ve traveled by river boat up the East Sellen river to Restov, the capital of Brevoy. As you disembark, Marcos Farabellus greets you on the docks. He is a man of sturdy build with a bald head and a full beard. “Ah, agents! So very good to see you! Welcome to Restov. I hope your journey wasn’t too bothersome. This time of year the mosquitoes on the Sellen can be worse than falling face first and buck naked into a patch of poison ivy.” Marcos punctuates his own jest with a bellowing laugh. “Let’s get you all a bit freshened up before I get to the heart of the matter.” Marcos leads you to a nearby street vendor who sells fried fish and vegetables. He buys each of you a portion and buys himself a skewer of crayfish. While everyone eats and walks, he elaborates on the mission. “First off, thank you for coming. This is a bit of an unusual ‘mission’, so let me get right to it. I received a challenge recently from Orlaelia Aldori. She’s an up-and-coming swordmaster here in Restov. Claims her students are capable of besting any of mine. Now, I get challenges like that all the time, and normally I ignore them. But this time? Well, there’s a little bit more to it. A double-edged sword, so to speak.” He lets out a small chuckle. “Which is apt, because one of these extras is a sword. Orlaelia has bet Inheritor’s Fury, her old longsword, on this deal. She used to be a Mendevian crusader, you see, and the sword has seen the depths of the Worldwound. It’s a relic in its own right and an item the Society would love to study in depth, not to mention a valuable piece of modern history deserving proper cataloging and preservation. “While the pursuit of a relic alone would not merit taking you away from your other duties, this challenge also gives us a chance to make new friends and acquaintances in Restov. It’s been a while since the society had an active presence here. Rising to this challenge could give us a friendly rival at worst and some new friends at best. “Orlaelia, though a veteran of many battles, is still Taldan at heart, from what I know at least, and still loves the arts. So! While this challenge will culminate in a duel between you and her students, she will most likely have a few other tests in mind that go beyond raw combat. Who can say what they’ll be. From what I hear her style is quite practical, but old veterans like us see lessons in the strangest of places.” He smiles, perhaps thinking of similar examples from his own past, though doesn’t elaborate further. “I’ve opened up Birchwood Hall, our lodge here. Haven’t managed to get all the damp and dust out yet, but that shouldn’t bother us overmuch. I’m sure you’ve all seen much worse during your travels.” ![]()
![]() Recruiting for a hopefully speedy run of the Repeatable Quest Series 2 #14 Swordlord's Challenge in support of the Battlecry! playtest. Replayers welcome and even encouraged. I'd like to run this pretty light on RP and focus on trying out the playtest builds, both as players of them and as teammates. In order to ensure there's some balance to the party, I'll allow up to 2 Commanders AND up to 2 Guardians. That way there's room for at least 2 other classes at least, and room for some folks that can't or don't want to build playtest characters. I'd also like to run this in the high-tier as a test of the level 3 playtest builds rather than just level 1. See the Lorespire Playtest Rules page for details on making a level 3 character. I'd suggest also using messageboard "aliases" instead of committing a character name to a short playtest PBP run, but that's up to you. ![]()

Your instructions from Fola Barun were quite clear: enter the Hold of Belkzen and begin your search for Uirch and the Burning Sun hold orcs. You also carry sealed diplomatic papers meant for Mahja Firehair, inviting the Burning Sun to formally ally with the Pathfinder Society and allow its agents into Belkzen to trade and work with its citizens. ![]()

![]() Your comms chime with an urgent assignment from Ehu Hadif. Checking the CC’s on the message, some of you instantly recognize the names of your teammates from that mission to the planet of the giants. It’s no surprise then, when you arrive at the Lorespire briefing room to see Ehu Hadif and Naiaj with a holographic globe of Pholskar floating behind them. They wait patiently, discussing things quietly between themselves as you all take your seats. Ehu Hadif turns his attention to you as Naiaj focuses on her datapad. “Welcome!” Ehu Hadif exclaims. “Thank you all for responding so quickly. I see we have some of you back for another go at Pholskar, and I recognize a few of the other faces, but why don’t we go around the table and introduce ourselves.” ![]()

![]() Rushed into boarding a Society starship, there was no time for a formal briefing from any of the Society leadership. Even after a few days en route, there's been no official word of where you're going or what your mission is. All you can determine from the preprogrammed Drift course is that the destination is an inhabited but previously unvisited Near Space world named Pholskar. Character intros and RP as you please.

![]() The feat Memory Access from the COM has a prerequisite of "Construct type, constructed racial trait, exocortex, or head slot augmentation." (emphasis added) Looking through AoN, there are exactly zero "head" slot augmentation, although there are 46 "brain" slot augmentations (15 biotech, 7 cybernetic, 7 magitech, 3 necrografts, and 14 species grafts). Presumably the prerequisite should have said "brain" slot, and possibly have been limited to cybernetic augmentations to match the flavor of the other prereqs, but as written you can't use any augmentations to qualify as there are no "head" slot augmentations available. FWIW, both HeroLab and Starbuilder prevent you from taking the feat unless you qualify one of the other ways, even if you buy a brain slot item. Seems like a simple thing, and fairly obvious, so can we get a quick errata or clarification, please. ![]()
![]() As I mentioned in this waaay off-topic post, I wish to ask for a reconsideration of legality for an archetype. Full disclosure, IRL I’m a proud Teamster. My son who also plays in SFS is a member of IATSE, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and my parents and ex-wife are former AFGE members. I salute and congratulate the members of United Paizo Workers for their successful organizing effort. So I have to ask why the poignantly topical Union Organizer archetype can’t be made legal? The archetype itself doesn’t seem to be excessively powerful, and the associated feats are all Society legal. I understand that the prerequisite: “You must have paid dues on a union membership to take this archetype” isn’t tenable in worldwide Society play, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a different prereq written specifically for Society play. I propose: “You must have and maintain 1 skill rank per character level in a Profession skill. The Union that you organize for must be directly related to that Profession skill.” This would impose an easily verifiable cost on the character, but one which is directly related to the archetype’s concept. Using the phrase “and maintain” ensures that the cost continues. Failing to maintain the skill rank progression would lead to loss of access to the archetype’s benefits. It would provide for a vast amount of role-play opportunities without being unbalanced by any means. And it would show IRL support for the UPW and other hard working union members worldwide. I therefore hereby petition Org Play leadership to do whatever is needed to make the Union Organizer archetype Society legal somehow. ![]()

I encourage, but do not insist, that you have some botting instructions and/or dice macros in your character’s profile especially if you have specific things that they always or never do in combat or have very complex dice rolls for combat. ⚔ If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting. Likewise, I will do my best to update you all if I will be much more than 24 hours before my next post. My unusual life, for those that are unfamiliar:
I’m a long-haul international cargo airline pilot. Many of my work days are spent sleeping as much as I can right up to the wake-up call before a flight, flying one or more 8 to 16 hour legs, then falling into bed at the next hotel. ![]()
![]() Recruiting for SFS 1-34 Heart of the Foe One seat is reserved. Preference then to be given to those that played at my table of Treading History's Folly (Aravon, Ceolor, Iris, Stiehle Darkwing, and Yarameh). If they don't take the seats, I'll give next preference to those that need the scenario to complete their Scoured Star Segments, and then those new to PBP. This is a tier 3-6 scenario with the Second Seekers (Jadnura) and Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) tags and NO starship combat. ![]()

I'm only asking for a Discord name as an alternate method of communication in case we have extended or frequent issues with the Paizo forums as happened during a PBP con a couple years ago or recently with the whole Cookie Fiasco. If you don't Discord, that's okay; as I said it's just a backup. If your character has any extremely weird or situation-breaking abilities please let me and your teammates know. I’m not at all opposed to them, I’d just like to know what I’m in for. Also, if you have any always-on abilities, please let me know. Re: Boon slotting, this scenario has the Second Seekers (Jadnura) tag and does NOT have a starship tag. You can slot boons after the briefing. I hope to see daily posting with one post on the weekends, please. I will do my best to keep things moving, also in spite of my crazy and unpredictable work schedule. I cannot promise that we’ll be done before Gameday X starts on 6 Sep, so please plan accordingly.
