PaizoCon 2022 Logo PaizoCon Online 2022

We invite you to join us for PaizoCon 2022, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend (May 27–29) at the Doubletree in Seatac, WA. For those unable to make the trek in person, we’re also pleased to announce that PaizoCon Online will once again bring events to your screen with online play and seminars (and an extra day’s events on May 30th). Join us for an amazing weekend of Pathfinder and Starfinder gaming, including the launch of Year 5 of Starfinder Society and the kickoff of the Drift Crisis! We’ll also be celebrating a huge milestone: 2022 is Paizo’s 20th anniversary, and we’d love to have you join us!

While our physical show will be limited to 500 attendees, we still plan to bring plenty of Paizo content to both the online and physical space. Some highlights include:

Premiere events debuting simultaneously at both PaizoCon and PaizoCon Online!

  • Launch of Starfinder Society Year 5
  • New Starfinder Special #4-99 on Saturday evening from 6–11 pm
  • PaizoCon Puzzle Hunt returns for its 6th year!

At PaizoCon 2022 in Seatac you’ll find:

  • Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society games from Friday to Sunday
  • The Paizo Store
  • Rooms for attendees to watch what’s happening at PaizoCon Online
  • Small-scale seminars and workshops
  • The Glass Cannon Network room returns! Join them for their show in downtown Seattle on Friday night and their PaizoCon show on Saturday night.
  • Onsite places for attendees/staff to watch digital events

At PaizoCon Online, you’ll find:

  • PaizoCon Online Keynote with Publisher Erik Mona
  • Pathfinder Society and Starfinder Society games running around the clock from Friday to Monday
  • Panels focused on products and big announcements, Friday through Sunday 10 am to 4 pm Pacific

For purchasers of PaizoCon 2020 tickets who rolled them over to our next physical show, we will be updating your tickets to ones for PaizoCon 2022. Anyone who wishes for a refund can do so by contacting customer.service@paizo.com. Please use the subject line “PaizoCon 2020 Refund” to expedite your request. The deadline for refund requests will be March 11, 2022, after which we will open up PaizoCon 2022 tickets for general purchase and put PaizoCon Online tickets on sale.

One change from prior in-person PaizoCons is that we are using Warhorn for all our event scheduling. We will have an initial schedule posted by March 21st and will update it as we add more events. If you are an author, third-party publisher, or Pathfinder Infinite content producer interested in running events, please stay tuned to the Paizo blog for more information about how to add your events to our online or physical schedule!

Covid-19 remains an ongoing consideration, and Paizo is committed to the safety of the Paizo staff and attendees. The precautions we are taking include:

  • In-person attendees are required to show proof of vaccination (including booster shots) and wear masks in all Paizo-controlled spaces such as ballrooms, seminar rooms, gaming spaces, and the Paizo store.
  • No banquet event
  • Hand sanitizer available in public spaces
  • Reduced number of physical show tickets with a capped attendance of 500.
  • More space between attendees in the seminar rooms, OP hall (between players and between tables), and in the Paizo store
  • Paizo will pivot to an online-only event should conditions take a turn for the worse.

Look for more communication over the next few months as we finalize more details, including event registration dates. We look forward to seeing you either in person or online!

Are tickets already on sale? If so, is there a link that can be provided?
I'm going to try and go in-person if I can.

I'll be curious about this too. 2020 was going to be my first time attending before everything exploded.

I imagine in general this may be a delicate thing for Paizo to handle and I hope things go ok, given the possibility that there are more than 500 holdovers from 2020. I'd venture a guess that that's why refunds are opening first so they can pray and see how many out of 500 they actually have available for new people to purchase.

But overall hype! :)

Thanks for the heads up on the image, it is updated!

We will be doing refunds for the banquet tickets. You don't need to do anything to invoke the refund. We'll post here when they are complete to make sure we don't miss anyone.

When we decided to roll our tickets over we were told there would be a special bonus for doing so.

Banquet is a big part of why I go to the Con, with no banquet I am not sure I want to attend in person. Even then I would only decide to if the pandemic is looking like it is heading in the right direction....

Is there any details on a bonus for attending, or if that is off the table? Actually would totally understand if it was off the table all things considered, just looking for clarification.

I'm sure I can run a few online tables. Wasn't sure if a hybrid event was going to happen but glad to see it.

WRMUSALL asked about masks. Redacted to not get this post removed.

2 things

1- Mask mandate 'will' be over. That is from the local government.

2- Local businesses can require masking without a mandate and that was made clear in the announcement.

Same way your local corner shop can say no shoes no shirt no service. No Mask no Entry.

Is there anything special we need to do to roll over our 2020 tickets if we want to attend in person this year?

Well I truly hope that I can get tickets for the in person event. Also that I will be allowed to purchase more than just one as I’ve had to jump through a few hoops to have my teenage son attend with me in the past including setting up a Paizo account for him to have his ticket attached to. Is this going to be a lottery drawing or a mad dash first come first serve to whatever tickets are left on the 11th? I’m glad you are doing something but frankly I am never going to ever enjoy the online con. I have tried virtual tabletops before and during the pandemic but they really are not for me. I really need to be at a table to enjoy the tabletop game. If we can’t get in I will still watch some of the panels and whatnot but I had to take time off of work last November to get the time off for this, as we have to bid our vacation time based on seniority and availability and I had to roll the dice that this was even going to happen. Also my game group also had to roll those same dice and I’m not sure the likelihood of us all getting in together. What happens if some of us get tickets and others do not? Would we be able to turn them in for a refund? I guess I have a lot of questions now that something has been announced more than actual answers. Hoping that everyone has the con that they want to attend.

Great to hear!

I thoroughly enjoyed attending seminars, games, the banquet, and meeting so many great freelancers, 3pp, and paizo staff at each of those events. I completely understand decisions to hold back on things some and make the event smaller for the pandemic. It's the right choice and definitely helps keep your staff safe.

I am far away and got the time off well in advance, making my costs to attend pricey, and now I am asking myself if that interaction with so many awesome and talented people I experienced at PaizoCon 2019 will have a chance to happen at PaizoCon 2022. I support you guys and everyone else in this corner of the industry to the ends of the earth, but I'm really wondering if this event will be as worth the pretty penny in travel and lodging it was before.

I guess pointedly, will PaizoCon 2022 in person be all community staff managers manning the store and moderating the digital event rooms and mostly community self ran and interaction? Will the energy be the same?

It's definitely a hard question, I know.

How do we ensure that our ticket(s) from 2020 'rolled over'?

Sovereign Court Director of Community

Going to catch a few answers at once.

@Yoshua - we are still talking about what the bonus will be, but I anticipate it still happening.

Secondary note, on March 21, Washington State lifts its mandate, but King County mask mandate remains in force. The uncertainty of what mandates will be in May is one of several reasons we are requiring them at an event level.

@topperharley - you don't need to do anything to attend. Soon you will see your ticket on our account update to 2022.

@Postal Apocalypse - Open sales will be first come/first served. With the attendance capped, we needed to give first right of refusal to rollovers. As we approach March 11, we will have another blog with ticket prices and the actual date/time they will go on sale and will work with families to facilitate ticket purchases. I will make sure we address refund parameters in the update blog.

@TheKillingJay - It is a hard question and I don't have a good sense at this point. We will have Organized Play games, a store, special events, and an as-yet-undetermined quantity of staff at the physical show. We will keep updating our community via blog, so that is probably the best place to get an idea of "PaizoCon 2022 vibe".

@Wei Ji the Learner - Keep an eye on your paizo.com account. I'll post again here when the tickets are updated to confirm it occured.

Is there any way to tell if our PaizoCon 2020 tickets are still valid? I don't think I would have asked for a refund, with the option to roll them over available, but I'd like to know for sure if possible. Thanks.

For those of you wondering if your badge has rolled over, I think I've figured out how to tell. Select My Account at the top of this page, then Order History. Scroll down to when you purchased your 2020 badge. Mine now says "PaizoCon 2022 4-Day Badge"!

March 11th deadline is coming.... Do we know what the bonus for attending will be? Factoring that in on if I am asking for a refund or not.

Thanks!

I was wondering if the extra day we are losing from the badge will be refunded along with the banquet ticket?

Will Paizo be pushing an email communication out to 2020 badge holders? I wonder if they will wind up with no-shows from people who did not see this blog post to know they have to opt out.

Marketing team pushes blogs to those who have opted in. The Community team may also push an email, I don’t have an answer at this time.

I think not. The terms of this convention for the employees are agreed to with the union and we will not be turning on a dime. Employee participation will be voluntary and I think we all want to maximize that. :)

Our State and County governments are relaxing requirements so I understand the question. We will be intentionally more strict that is required and hold to that position this year.

As I singer, I have only recently returned to singing in a group setting with a mask on. There are singers' masks that cost a bit more, but create space around the mouth. I recommend them for comfort.

Only have this week basically to decide if we are asking for a refund and the bonus hasn't been announced for rolling over tickets. Do you know when that will be announced?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Pathfinder Accessories, Rulebook Subscriber; Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber

Deadline for asking for a refund is in 2 days. Still looking for the info on what the 'bonus' for rolling tickets over is.... Already leaning towards the refund because we are still in a pandemic, but also trying to avoid fomo.

Basically tomorrow is my last day on deciding if I am keeping my tickets or asking for a refund. Hoping that someone will let us know today, even if it isn't finalized, what the bonus is looking like. I buy the coins and glasses from the web shop, so if it is going to also be available via the shop I am ok just picking them up there. But if it is a bonus exclusive to showing up, then that is when FOMO kicks in.

Wayfinders Contributor

KN95 Masks can be pretty comfortable too. I especially like the Yuikio brand for comfort. I can wear one of those for eight hours at work and sometimes forget that it is on.

Hmm

PS We can go maskless when we go to lunch, Gary!

Sovereign Court Director of Community

@Yoshua The benefit is still being determined as we talk to licensed partners and get further into planning, but it looks like it will be something related to the swag bags given to participants.

If we produce any PaizoCon commemorative exclusives, we will put them for sale via the webstore that weekend, as our show is hybrid and we will want to give our online attendees a chance to get the items as well.

To confirm what Aaron said, we will not be changing the mask guidance originally posted and that masks are required for access to any Paizo Convention Spaces at the DoubleTree.

OK looking at the signup for paizocon 2022 it shows that the general tickets would go on sale at 9 am pacific on Wednesday the 16th of March. However as of writing this the website still has not been updated nor has there been any post of any change in the scheduled events or how tickets are going to be sold. What is the current status then of an in person con?

We absolutely missed our deadline, I am so sorry. I had to do emergency dental work that took me out of the office Mon and yesterday. We've been working to pull things together today, but didn't make it.

At this time, we don't have any tickets to sell. Given our reduced capacity of 500 people and that we rolled tickets from 2020 to 2022, we've been processing returns to see what space we would have. I'm working to contact ticketholders now and we are going to extend the date for returns. I hope that we will have tickets to offer and will keep the group updated.

I'm working on a blog for next week that will have the hotel information and the new dates for returns, as well as some other show news. To those of our community who were looking for ticket sales today, I am very sorry for not updating earlier!
