I will always raise a glass to the lord in Iron. Thank you for a god of war that was not some blatant rip off of Greek or Roman gods, but something new and who stood for those who only wished to hear the ring of steel, and to die in a good way one day. I look forward to seeing what this event brings to the world. (But hands off Pharasma!!!! She sticks around until the new universe comes around) Thanks for sharing your home brew world with the rest of us.

Well this killed the last of my hopes for an in person con experience again returning. I’m glad I got to attend the last full con in 2019 as I suspect that we will never again see something like that again. Online cons are never going to really replace the experience of being with a group of people who all come together for a love of a shared game. And while I had hopes that we could return to such a fun time again, that could have both an online and in person component. I have the feeling that the time of us all gathering for 4 days of gaming is now a nostalgic time in the past. Kinda a bummer for me. Hope those of you love online cons will have fun though.

This is so very exciting. Really love the cleanness of the PF2e system and am looking forward to seeing it IN SPACE! Really hoping that the playtest is as thoughtful and complete as the pathfinder playtest was. I especially loved playing doomsday dawn and thought that it gave a great opportunity to try out the new system. My group probably would not say no to a doomsday dawn sequel. Maybe with a title like, Doomsday Dawn 2: 2 doom, 2 furious. :) But seriously I really love this step forward for both games.

Well I for one am excited to see this. While I do like the owlcat games I really don’t have the time to always play. It’s hard enough to carve out free time several times a month for our regular game as is, but it’s almost always easier for me to find time for less time involved games like this. Plus anything that helps get the pathfinder brand out there is a good thing. It’s kinda exhausting constantly telling non gamer folks that the game their co workers play is “kinda D&D”. Getting people to associate fantasy adventure with “Pathfinder” will also help those who are new to the hobby discover the TTRPG as well. But I think my real hope, is that this is just a great game. I play games like this to enjoy myself and relax. I only have so much time for leisure between work, family and other commitments. I backed both owlcat games on kickstarter for many of the same reasons that I just listed, not knowing if they would be good games either. I was pleasantly surprised with their quality and fun, so I will keep the same hope and optimism for BKOM and will definitely back this. Just one persons opinion and your mileage will vary. However with some of the negative feedback I’m seeing, I hope some folks can see this as a good thing. And if it’s not your thing, then just don’t worry about it. No one is forcing you to buy it. Play games to have fun, and hope that the next game partnership is more to your tastes. Hope everyone out there has a great day and keeps playing games that make you happy.

Well. There is one thing for certain. This announcement has generated some very strong reactions from lots of folks. People don’t like change or love it, and the forums sure don’t provide a nuanced place for civil discourse. As for me I understand why this is happening. I also understand that this is a pivot that Paizo has made due to having to distancing themselves from the OGL. This means that I will lose things from my game of choice that I have an irrational emotional attachment to, probably because of nostalgia. Alignments are from my childhood and we are constantly chasing that same feeling we had as kids, and it feels like someone is taking that away from you. People are gonna feel what they feel, and most will not stop and look at where those feelings are coming from before they start typing out a post here. The thing is. I overall trust Paizo. When they changed from a magazine publisher to making monthly adventures I followed and liked what I saw. When they made their own game instead of just using a dead game’s rules, I followed and loved what I played. When they made an entire new game from the first. Starting it over essentially from the first game that I played for a decade, I followed cautiously and discovered a game that I might genuinely love far more than I loved the first. And now they are asking me to once again follow. And I think that they have earned my trust and loyalty by this point to at least see what they have in mind before I make up my mind about it. Change is hard. We instinctively fight against it. But this is a living game. It needs to change or it may wither and die. And if I don’t like it I am free to go backwards and retreat to the point of the game that I did love. However I have the feeling that once again I will be pleasantly surprised at how much I like whatever is next. Just my opinion, two cents or whatever. Play what makes you happy. This is supposed to be a game we play for fun.

As someone who loved what he saw in pathfinder unchained and saw how many of those changes got brought into the core design of Pathfinder 2e, I am super excited to see what is going to be introduced in this. Keeping in mind that unchained came out about halfway through the life cycle of PF1e, I expect that this is something of the same. The kind of changes that several years of feedback have shown that need to be addressed. I am not expecting a second edition of starfinder anytime soon, but I am hoping this will help smooth over the rougher aspects of the existing system.

*Sigh*. Well while this is not that surprising I am still disappointed. I have tried to do online play and frankly I would just rather not play. I play tabletop games to get away from screens and while I can appreciate how convenient it is for a lot of folks and now some even prefer it, it will never be for me.

Well. Shoot. As a huge fan of both the pawn line and the adventure card game, I hid a burning hope in my heart that maybe, somehow they might make a resurgence. Huge sigh for the final nail in that coffin. I still have all the card games and almost every singe pawn set in existence. But I was still willing to strive to find more room on my already stained bookshelves for more. Just know that should you ever decide to bring back either of these lines, I will be one of the first to buy.

Well, I guess this is sort of a good thing. Someone who really wants to attend in person might be able to go now. If they can get that time off and make extremely short travel plans.

OK looking at the signup for paizocon 2022 it shows that the general tickets would go on sale at 9 am pacific on Wednesday the 16th of March. However as of writing this the website still has not been updated nor has there been any post of any change in the scheduled events or how tickets are going to be sold. What is the current status then of an in person con?

Ok, maybe I missed something but it is past 9 am Pacific on Wednesday the 16th and the website still has not updated from 2021’s paizocon and nothing about the tickets going on sale? I can not find any blog posts with any other updates either? Has something changed?

I’m going to attempt to go. I’m hoping that there is enough room with the limited number of tickets available. Unfortunately I was only planning on attending one day in 2020 and so don’t have anything to roll over to 2022. We will see what things look like when tickets go on sale on the 16th. Hope that everyone who can, and wants to go can.

Well I truly hope that I can get tickets for the in person event. Also that I will be allowed to purchase more than just one as I’ve had to jump through a few hoops to have my teenage son attend with me in the past including setting up a Paizo account for him to have his ticket attached to. Is this going to be a lottery drawing or a mad dash first come first serve to whatever tickets are left on the 11th? I’m glad you are doing something but frankly I am never going to ever enjoy the online con. I have tried virtual tabletops before and during the pandemic but they really are not for me. I really need to be at a table to enjoy the tabletop game. If we can’t get in I will still watch some of the panels and whatnot but I had to take time off of work last November to get the time off for this, as we have to bid our vacation time based on seniority and availability and I had to roll the dice that this was even going to happen. Also my game group also had to roll those same dice and I’m not sure the likelihood of us all getting in together. What happens if some of us get tickets and others do not? Would we be able to turn them in for a refund? I guess I have a lot of questions now that something has been announced more than actual answers. Hoping that everyone has the con that they want to attend.

Nervous but possibly optimistic. Really needed some good news to start this year with. Just like most of us I’m sure that no big plans can be made quickly but I’m still pretty excited.

I absolutely love using these at my table. Saw them at paizocon 2019 and was absolutely salivating to get them at my table. Now I have to have each new one to come out. My players love getting these when they get their hero point awards. Can’t wait for the next designs.

As a proud card carrying member of my union, the NALC, I wholeheartedly support the formation of any workers who would like to band together and assist one another to make a better workplace. That is what a union is and does. I know that a majority of the workers at Paizo support forming this union and the best thing that Paizo management can do is to recognize this union of their workers. I really do not want to see a repeat of what so many other companies out there have been doing in the last few decades, engaging in union busting. That is not the kind of company I wish to support. Do the right thing Paizo executive board. Recognize the union and then get to work building a better future for all of you.

Seriously this sucks. Sara Marie was so calm level headed and really a soothing balm on the forums when they got a little too hot. And on a personal note she really assisted me above and beyond when I needed to bring my autistic son to paizocon and needed to make sure we were always booked at every event together so that he would not be in anything alone. She was amazing and I really felt like she was watching out for every customer. This is making me feel very uncomfortable with how things are going on behind the scenes, if a superstar like Sara Marie is let go.

Really nice to see this. My son is autistic and struggles to communicate with others. The last few years he has joined us at our game table, first with first edition and now with second. He loves to play charismatic characters like sorcerers and bards as it allows him to play someone who is charismatic and easily convinces others though his words. This hobby gives all of us the ability to play someone we are not and helps my son feel like he is part of a group that he can help. Great job Paizo for bringing this great program front and center.

Well, this sucks. I don’t do online gaming and this really was what my family played all through the pandemic. Plus I have gotten several coworkers interested in playing now that folks might be able to get together again. This game has been our go to for most family game night for years. Played through the other sets and some of the society scenarios as well, and we were all so excited that there seemed to be much more on the horizon in 2019. I really hope that Paizo sees some of the love here and realizes that maybe there is more of a market than they might have realized. I don’t know what their sales numbers are like but maybe as some on here have suggested, crowdfunding might be a way to go to fund future expansions. I for one would back another AP.

Well, I’m glad that I was able to put my two cents into the survey this time. And I am glad to see that once again the development team is indeed listening to the community. While not everything I see is extremely exciting to me I do look forward to the final product. And while I don’t think that everyone will be happy with the final product, my hope is that it will make for some fun around the table.

Might be a fun addition to a PACS scenario. Also love the thought presses that goes into each card. Great to see the conversations that go into the development and editing of each card. Plus adding in the math and the amount of fun we would actually get out of it was very enlightening.

I would love to actually playtest this but my group is pretty much on hold until the world gets back to some semblance of normal. While I too have read a lot of angry back and forth, and this is definitely not new. The community fighting on the forums is passionate, but it does seem to come from a place of ownership in this hobby and that can hit a real nerve in some people.

Not going to lie, I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this one. This year has been tough and it’s really nice to play make believe with some friends to take your mind off of the real world for a bit. And this was gong to be my first AP ran in second edition. But it’s not in the cards for this year.

Just got done with the paizo 2019 and beyond panel at PaizoCon. When the question was asked about subscriptions, they were not able to give a ton of details because some things apparently are still not finalized at this point but Lisa Stevens did say that if a subscription did include a pdf with it before then it would continue to do so. But it sounds like they are still figuring discounts and the like for all the new and consolidated subscriptions, or at least they are not able to say, as of yet, anything more.

Well I am a bit nervous and excited for the changes. I have thoroughly enjoyed the original system and like most I am always a bit dubious of change. I found in the original system that when teaching new players there was a steep learning curve. It took a couple of games played with a bit of handholding but once the core concepts were understood these new players would be feeling pretty comfortable after these first few games. While cutting down on the card text might help with making the cards less intimidating to new players, there are now quite a bit more terminologies for them to learn as well. And while this "cleans" up the card text, I still do not see a way that the set up and tear down is going to be any less time. Unless there are some new mechanics for this as well? One of the few drawback of this game is how long it takes to set up a game and take it down when done playing. I do however like the fact that whole new core boxes will not have to be purchased each time to play the next adventure path, as this made for a large investment in both finances and space (my gaming shelves only have so much room). This all being said, I look forward to getting my copy and seeing for myself. The original game has become one of our go to games for family game night and I truly hope that we will enjoy this new system as much.

Hello, this will be my first year attending, and I am bringing my teenage son along for his very first con. As he is a minor but who is over 10 years old, I have purchased a 4 day pass for him. My question is what is the best way to make sure we are both attending the same events together? Should I create a paizo.com account under his name or keep his pass under my account? Just want to make sure that we are together for any events that we are attending. |
