Pathfinder Second Edition Humble Bundle

Wednesday, July 15, 2020

Last month, Paizo reiterated its commitment to diversity and racial justice; today, we’re launching a new Humble Bundle to support these values. The Pathfinder Second Edition Humble Bundle supports three nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting people of color. A portion of every bundle will benefit the Carl Brandon Society, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., and the National Urban League.

Graphic featuring the logos for the Carl Brandon Society, The NAACP, and the National Urban League.

The Carl Brandon Society seeks to expand racial and ethnic diversity in fiction. “We envision a world in which speculative fiction, about complex and diverse cultures from writers of all backgrounds, is used to understand the present and model possible futures; and where people of color are full citizens in the community of imagination and progress.”

“The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization in the fight for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks to achieve racial justice by enacting structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments.”

The National Urban League’s mission is “To help African-Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self- reliance, power, and civil rights. The League promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life.”

Purchasers can decide how much of their donation goes to each participant in the bundle by scrolling down to the bottom of the Humble Bundle page and clicking the “Choose where your money goes” header.

Paizo is including its most popular Pathfinder products in this bundle. You can get PDF copies of the Pathfinder Second Edition Core Rulebook, Bestiary, and Lost Omens World Guide, as well as enough adventures to keep you and your friends entertained for hours of epic gaming around the table or on virtual tabletop.

You can also unlock tons of accessories, and Humble Bundle is offering a reward tier for a physical copy of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook shipped right to your door! Shipping is fulfilled by Paizo, and you’re responsible for shipping fees. Complete instructions will be included in the email you receive from Humble Bundle.

Thank you for supporting Paizo’s commitment to creating a diverse gaming audience that is free of racial injustice. Through our continued efforts together, we hope to make the gaming world a better place than it was yesterday.

A bit of a shame that the tiers a muddled such that as a GM you are probably rebuying all the rulebooks to get the scenarios or as a player you are getting a bunch of scenarios with your rulebooks that you don't want to then read. But I guess thats kinda the point. Still very awesome, may think about picking this up depending on how my groups try at a "no more than 4 session mini campaign" series.

This is fantastic. Great work. I've already gone and linked this to just about everyone I know with even a passing interest in RPGs.

We have blogs coming with fiction and NPCs. We are moving away from full out content previews that go stale after the product is live. But I am working with Polygon, Comicbook.com, Know Direction, and others on preview articles that will hit before July 30. Something tells me YOU are already hyped. Let's just say there are different communications for different audiences. ;)

I will be throwing in even though I own most of these. Glad to see continued commitment on Paizo's part.

Thank you for mentioning this (and I don't mean this sarcastically, it's good information to know). It means that I'll stop paying attention to the blog going forward, as I've just never been very interested in the fiction or NPCs.

I'm afraid I don't pay attention to any of your other channels either, so I'll just have to wait for the release.

Bought! I already have most of it, but $20 is still a steal for 8 maps I didn't already own and the character sheets!

I've got almost all of this bundle from being a subscriber for the past year. I'd like another option for purchasing these bundles, that you might be able to set up in the future.

What I'd like to do is buy the bundle, but donate the codes to organizations that can help create a more diverse user base for Paizo products.

Is there any way to connect avid Paizo customers with organizations who could make use of these materials in their programs?

Honestly, I don't care if it's just some local program near where you folks live. It' doesn't have to be some big national organization.

Or, perhaps we could loop in Organized Play GMs and let them use these codes if they find programs for kids who belong to communities that are historically under-represented in RPG fandom.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

The only things I really needed were the LO Character and World Guides - but at these prices getting them and a second copy of the Core book was a no-brainer! The additional content is just gravy.

I believe the download codes are already giftable. Instead of entering the code in your Paizo.com acount, you'd give it to someone else and let them download it.

(What you can't do is split up the contents of the individual tiers, like keep the Monastery Flip-Mat for yourself and give the Fall of Plaguestone to someone else.)

Yes, they are. I've bought a couple earlier PF1 Humble Bundles and gifted the codes to friends.

What I'm looking for are the connections to the groups who would use the materials to reach a more diverse audience for Pathfinder stories.

Bought this even though owned most of the Corebooks. But the Maps are a big help as I have started to use Fantasy Grounds for exploration and combat tracking when leading games for my group.

Also it's always good to give money for good cause.

PS. Just noticed that Bigger Sewer mat seems to bee missing from my Digital Content.

In the short term, I posted this to our social media. "P.S. Consider donating the codes for products you already have to your favorite nonprofit organization or school, especially those serving marginalized communities." Good idea.

Love this! I own most of them physical, so it is great to get the digital copies. I would love to see a humble bundle that has a bunch of your older campaign settings and world guides in it. I'm sure at this point everyone owns the pf1e core rule books.

Had most of this already, but for the price it was a no brainer to pick up what I was missing and get a spare CRB.

Many thanks!

That's a great bundle and I guess a sound way of patching your massive sales hole generated by no physical conventions and folks cutting down on their entertainment budgets.

Love that you guys do this! Normally love to humble bundle for the goodies, but will these codes be bundled for a full unlock or, for example, will the PDF's for the rule books be separate?

As a subscriber I have all of the rule books. I could use the maps, but would rather give the codes for the books to one of my kids so they can start up their own accounts and adventures.

Will likely still go in for 20$ to get the maps, but feels like the codes will be wasted as I already have all of the rule books in my digital library.

Happy to support this. Anyone know if there's an easy way to use the flip maps in Roll20?

rokeca wrote:

I haven't done it with the Flip Maps specifically, but for pulling AP maps I've done it two ways:

1) use a PDF image extractor to extract the map images I want, then drag and drop them into Roll20 and adjust as usual
2) use the Windows Snipping Tool to take a snip of the map in question, save the images, then drag and drop them into Roll20 and adjust as usual

Number 1 gives better image quality, but has been a bit more fussy for me in the past getting the images to extract correctly. Number 2 is not as good of picture quality, but is fairly simple to do and works well enough to give the group an idea of where they are and where they've been. Hopefully one of the two works for you.

Awesome! My CRB is already worn out being shared among so many players at our lodge. Now my players have no excuse to not get their own books... and I can get a fresh copy!

Well played, Paizo. hehehehe. I bought the bundle and seen Pathfinder Tales and thought you all had returned the novels! Was so excited, came here to add that subscription again, only to be crushed, again. :P Joking. I do miss them, but been there, discussed this here and not worth it. Just thought some of you may find it humorous, if not doing the same thing. Thanks for the bundle!

There's no way to gift someone my extra rulebooks, while keeping the other stuff for myself, right? Not that I'm complaining, this is a pretty sweet bundle.

Bast L. wrote:

Not just the rulebook. There's a separate code for each tier, so you could gift someone the $5 tier (including the CRB) and keep the $10 and/or $20 tiers for yourself, but they'd get all the other stuff in the $5 tier as well.

How are the pdf's sent?

Is it a one-off download or does it go through the Paizo website?

I'm asking because the big draw of the pdf's for me is the automatic update for download via the Paizo website when any errata is incorporated into a new print edition.

If it is a one-off download that options is not possible.

You get a code you enter on the Paizo site and then it's just as if you'd bought them normally.

If you have a Paizo account, the material from the redeemed codes is added to your Digital Assets here on Paizo, and works just like every other Paizo pdf.

I think my friend had to create a Paizo account to redeem their code, but I don't remember for sure.

This actually has me a little worried. The last time I remember Paizo offering this was during the later part of the lifetime of PF1. But PF2 has only been out for one year and now this bundle is pretty much all of their PF2 product line.

Is this a sign that PF2 may not be doing as well as we hoped? I'm not asking this to disparage Paizo. With what is going on with Covid19 it's not exactly a good time for business in general.

Well, this is for charity...

That said, I also surmised that it probably is quite so good to make up for there not really being a GenCon this year. That has to hurt all physical RPG publishers.

Yeah, I was wondering the same. I hope it's doing okay. While I may disagree with some things in the system, I much prefer PF2 to 5E, and hate seeing 5E so completely dominate the RPG market (5E is fine, but it lacks the depth I'd prefer, and variety is nice). I only play on Roll20 these days, and it's to the point that 5E should have its own LFG forum, so other games don't get buried.

Maybe it will result in more AP and APG sales, if more people have book access?

And per Mark Moreland:

"This has nothing to do with sales of Pathfinder product and entirely to do with offering some of our newest and highest-demand books for an insanely low price to benefit some really worthy charities. As the person primarily responsible for deciding what was going to be in the bundle, I can 100% assert that we didn't even consider sales data, and focused on what would make a good, well-rounded bundle for someone new to Pathfinder or Pathfinder Second Edition."

Awesome bundle! Great to see Paizo doing this. :)
Is it possible to put something I've purchased normally (specifically, a physical copy of the Bestiary) in a shipment alongside the physical Core Rulebook, so I don't need to pay for shipping costs twice?

With cons cancelled (and with them the con sale boost where nerds just grab everything off the wall because COOOOON!) and FLGSes worldwide locked down and with covid-19 putting millions of people out of jobs globally (and thus having them cut down on expenses), you kind need to get your buck in any way possible.

So, I never read a Pathfinder Tale. Any suggestion on where to start from?

Hiyo!
This is great thank you, I have always been wanting to start dnd but Im almost by myself all the time. I got the first tier and would like to know if theres a video or a guide that I can use to start learning about dnd with these basics

Thank you for your time have a great adventure

Cheers to Paizo for taking a bold stand here- It makes me proud to be part of the community and a fan of the company.

My group just made the transition to 2E and we're having a blast sinking our teeth into it! It'll really enhance our play and interest to have all these books.

Thanks for those ideas. I'll have to try the PDF extractor approach. For AP maps I've been cutting & pasting into a Word document, cropping as necessary, then eliminating margins at top and bottom and converting to PDF which I import into Roll20, then adjust to line up with the R20 grid. It's worked well, and image quality has been good. But it's time consuming.

It would be awesome of Paizo flip maps were plug and play in R20 but great resources regardless.

I'm introducing my girlfriend to Pathfinder and we were just about to make the jump into 2nd edition so this release is PERFECT for us, combined with the fun weekend of Gencon events, we picked a really opportune time to join!

Quick question though if anyone can answer, will the Advanced Player's Guide be PFS legal for Gencon weekend? Is the PFS Legal blog post being updated with the most recent stuff or is there another area I can find that information? Thanks in advance!

Hows this:

Quote:
Going forward, we have plans to get Near Space sanctioned for Starfinder Society and the Advanced Player’s Guide sanctioned for Pathfinder Society before the end of the month. There may be more, but these two are the next ones on our radar.

and this:

Quote:
Additional Resources will be updated with the Advanced Player's Guide materials in time for GenCon.

I personally would still have a back-up plan just in case, but it does seem that they are pushing for it to be sanctioned and the Additional Resources to be updated accordingly before Gen Con.

PFS Guide for 2e - Character Options is where you'll want to keep an eye on. The options I suspect will either be made available there, the "Additional Options" blog might be updated, or a new blog might be linked to under "Additional Options". Either way, that link *should* be where you can get to that info.

Sovereign Court

Thanks! Those posts definitely help. And that's where I've been checking so it's good to know I'm looking in the right place. APG is going to open up so many possibilities. Exciting!

This is a great cause, but I am super-leery of PDFs in general (what happens if my tablet dies? I have to buy all the stuff again!) and I will be GMing in person when the pandemic passes, so I have absolutely no use for PDF maps. Still, I hope you raise a lot of money!
