Starfinder Masterclass Miniatures Partnership

Starfinder Masterclass Miniatures Partnership

Thursday, July 25, 2019

Three flaming skeletons with mouths open wide attacking a 4-armed, bipedal alien with grey skin and an angular face and dark pits for eyes. The alien's upper left arm is wielding some sort of yellow energy bolt. The silhouette of another adventurer looking on in horror can be seen in the foreground.

We have some really good news to share about the Starfinder Masterclass miniatures Kickstarter! Paizo is pleased to announce that Archon Studio will be taking over the license to produce Starfinder Masterclass miniatures, formerly produced by Ninja Division. As part of the agreement, Archon will fulfill backer rewards from the Starfinder Masterclass Kickstarter.

About Archon Studio: With their Unicast technology, Archon Studio has published several board games with miniatures, including League of Ancient Defenders, Vanguard of War, and Chronicle X. Recently, Archon Studio advanced its technology to hard plastic, which resulted in even more highly detailed miniatures.

Archon Studio also recently moved into the production of tabletop terrain with Rampart Wargaming. In August this year, its second tabletop terrain project, Dungeons & Lasers, is being launched on Kickstarter.

There are a few areas we want to highlight:

Archon Studio will be producing plastic miniatures instead of resin. They will also be starting over with Kickstarter fulfillment; this means that backers who have already received resin miniatures from Ninja Division will receive those minis again from Archon, this time in plastic.

Archon Studio plans to ship Kickstarter rewards in waves. Approximately every 6 months, the pledge rewards produced during the previous 6 months will be shipped to backers free of charge. Additionally, any time a Kickstarter backer purchases any Starfinder mini from Archon Studio—whether that’s a new mini or a duplicate of a Kickstarter mini—they will also ship any released Kickstarter miniatures due to that backer for no additional charge. Details of which minis are shipping when, and how to purchase other miniatures, will be posted on the Kickstarter page.

Archon Studio will be fulfilling backers in Europe, and Ninja Division will be shipping to the rest of the world. Paizo does not have specific answers to fulfillment questions: if you’re a backer with a question about your order, you’ll need to post the question to the Starfinder Masterclass Kickstarter page.

Thanks for all of your patience as we worked with Ninja Division and Archon to get this done. We’re looking forward to some epic minis!

And why exactly? Are the funds already spent on other things?

So...they can't issue refunds...but are to believe they can deliver with this money they claim to have set aside.. yea I'll mark this down as I believe when I see it...sorry paizo no disrespect but they have burned us more than once along with our money...

It is especially difficult because the main obstacle I've had finding someone to buy my pledge has been the fact that ND IS STILL INVOLVED WITH SHIPPING. Potentially interested people don't trust them to ship a blasted thing at this point.

You could try and find someone in the EU.

Another question: What happens with the UK if Brexit hits?

I'm really tempted to give stupid answers here^^

Technically the transport routes all still stand, so there might be some routine. The big question is how they plan to handle customs on 2 sides then, since both sides could say "stop".
Most likely, a lot of things if not all get stuck in customs for weeks or months.
Might be faster if they finaly can come up with something and negotiate it successfully, but i don't believe in that. After all, they elected...

This would be independant wether ND makes the deliveries or Archon. Indeed there is a chance that ND sending things from the US would have a better opportunity than sending things from the EU.

Kinda like the fact they are adding new miniatures and curious with what they will come up with.
Having to wait that long and not be sure it will follow through on everything really sucks, but it's better than getting nothing.

The Archon minis also seem fine, a bit different from the "originals".
Hopefully they can hold to a good standard.
I'm really spoiled by Corvus Bellis Infinity miniatures and hope they can produce them at some point :D
Or at least in that quality and metal.

How do we know which are included in the kickstarter pledge and which are "new"?

I looked at the kickstarter and made a list.

I just ordered Zo! on the Archon Studios site. So the mini is $10 USD, not bad, however $13 shipping is not good. But, if as an All In Pledge, they ship me everything they have up to this point at no additional cost, then I'm ok with that.
This whole deal with these miniatures was bad from the start with ND, but if Archon is going to come through like this with the quality of the minis I've seen in renderings on their site, then it will have to do. I was one of the "fortunate " ones to have received the first two waves from ND and I will compare those minis to what Archon ships and see if their quality is better.
I went through a period, like most due, where I saw Kickstarters, got enticed by that campaign, saw the abundance of stretch goals and renderings of the minis and pledged to way too many of these, including Black Rose Wars, Sine Tempore and two of the Zombicide offerings. It had taught me to be more judicial and investigative if I ever want to pledge to another Kickstarter going forward. I really need to do my research on these offerings, I don't think I would have pledged to this if I knew the troubled history of ND in the first place.

Same here, to Texas.

I really don't trust ND to actually ship anything so that is why I am willing to pay the extra shipping.

But the sculpts are new, right?

The previews there may look different from what's going to be the final product?

ND Starfinder Minis list

Thanks very much for that. Hopefully there are minimal changes. I backed at the all in level so didnt bother keeping track of the mini list, the number of each sculpt or what extras were unlocked during tge campaign - just the extra things I ordered via backerkit.

Cheers

Actually based on the Game on Table Top page I think I only added the Blue Dragon which was not part of the Kickstarter.

I'm jealous. I tried to get the dragon, but ND was doing weird stuff and wouldn't add it. I appear to be one of the "under the table" late backers

Unsure if Archon-Studio is making the Dragon.

I searched my past emails for the list of my pledge. Under an email from Game on Table Top dated 12/23/17, they sent me a list of everything I got in my pledge. Sad now to think that it’s been nearly two years just to get to this point.

Well, my first order with Archon didn't go well.

I ordered Zo! on their website and as instructed by their customer service wrote a message in their "anything you'd like to tell us about this order" space in which I told them I was a Ninja Division kickstarter backer and would email through all the kickstarter info I have.

I then sent an email referencing my Archon Studios order number with my identifying kickstarter info, my email address, my physical address and a list of all minis I am entitled to as an all-in backer plus the add-ons I ordered.

They sent me an automatic "we've got your email" message saying they'd answer it in forty eight hours.

Meanwhile they sent me a total of six emails telling me they've received my order...charged my order....assigned a reference number....they're processing the order....they've shipped the order.

I think the chance of them having included the kickstarter minis is negligible.

Anyone on the fence, I'd suggest doing as sanwah68 said above and waiting for the next wave - hopefully by then they'll have got a working process in place.

I did learn that a single mini costs $13 to ship to Australia and that there wasn't any choice of shipping method. They do appear to ship to PO Boxes, which is a plus.

I got the same, your order has shipped, email too. I checked the assigned tracking number and it looks like it’s shipping from Poland. If ND was handling all USA shipments, what does that mean?

As I understand it, our six Kickstarter minis were supposed to ship alongside Zo!

It seems to me that their warehouse/packing crew weren’t briefed on the plan.

It’s kind of concerning that they invite comment on the order but then seem to ignore what you write (I’d have at least expected someone to query what I was talking about, even if they didn’t understand what I was asking for).

It’s hard to keep emotions straight with this project. ND have lost me as a customer and I have no faith in them at all. However, I appreciate what Archon Studios are doing in this regard and like to cut companies some slack early on in a new process.

It’s kind of irritating though, given how predictable this issue was and that I asked their customer service team what to do ahead of time. To no avail.

I guess. My optimism for this project is easily shaken. If that had happened, I’d expect to see them listed on my order history.

What color you want tech...cause no update on the 25th. Major doubt if we are getting an update on the 11th...at this point I would say a broken clock is more on time with updates and good, relevant info than ninja division will ever be.

Can Paizo get a rough schedule from Archon on which figures are going to be produced at what time? Such as ‘these’ figures will be in ‘this wave’ projected to ship on ‘this date’?

We've asked for such a schedule, but as Archon Studio has been making minor changes to the sculpts for their production process, there's a lot of change going on. We'll make sure they share their plans as soon as they're solidified enough that they're not moving minis around...

Can we get any form of confirmation that ND has more than a handful of pocket lint and a quarter actually set aside for shipping costs? They are claiming on their other Kickstarter pages that they are no longer expending any attention or resources on Starfinder fulfillment.

I'm getting increasingly more worried about ND shipping my KS order.
Their first attempt was such a disaster that I already had little faith in them as it was.
I really hope Paizo and Archon stay engaged with ND during this, even if it's just to keep the pressure on ND.

We'll definitely continue to stay engaged with both Ninja Division and Archon Studio as they work to bring the Masterclass miniatures to the marketplace and to backers.

John Starck Candice aka Ninja Division has traveled to Germany and Prague on vacation in October, possibly also China according to Facebook posts on Oct 28. I took screenshots since he'll likely delete these once he realizes backers know. no money for refunds eh?

Small business owners with excessive financial obligations don't go on vacations abroad like that. I know because small business owners without such massive debt don't typically do that. Maybe things are different out in Potatoland, I don't know. Makes you think...

Maybe Cadice was meeting with people for business while he was overseas? Maybe he took the shipping money and went on the vacation of his dreams? Maybe this was paid for by his day job at the local hardware store?

Know what would be nice? Updates so we don't descend to endless speculation. Like it or not, in an absence of information people will seek it out wherever it can be found. If updates are too difficult, ND should refund the shipping money and divest from the project entirely so we can pay Archon directly for shipping.

I haven’t yet. However I think there’s no way the extra minis will have made it into that package. It went out way too early - they hadn’t processed my kickstarter backer info by the time it shipped.

my guess is that I’ll get a second package or that next time I’ll get twelve “extra” minis.

Sorry if I missed it somewhere but do we have a rough guess as to when North American backers can expect to see the first wave.
I know that it needs to go to ND first (shudder) but I'm hoping that since people that have purchased Zo! are seeing shipping notices, that it means we might see something soon.

Greetings, all. I reached out to Archon Studios to clarify the questions posed here and this is what they've told me.

What's going on with the store? Why can't I order miniatures?

The plan was to start on the 14th, but now they need to migrate the servers to support the new platform. They expect that process to be complete in the next 24 hours or so.

If a Kickstarter backer purchases Zo, will Archon ship both Zo and their pledged miniatures at the same time? If yes, does this apply to backers worldwide? If no, how does that process work?

Yes, Archon Studio will ship the new miniature, plus all currently produced miniatures produced that match your pledge level.

What if a Kickstarter backer does not purchase any of the new figures from Archon Studio?

Miniatures will be shipped after (roughly) 6 monthly waves. Shipping is handled as follows:

-Archon Studio fulfills EU orders

In addition, If you backed an Archon Studio Kickstarter and are waiting for those items, they will ship any outstanding Ninja Division minis to you worldwide once those products ship.

Ninja Division will fulfill NA and Rest of World

I know there's been some concern about how Ninja Division can afford shipping charges. It's my understanding that they've set money aside from their Humble Bundles and from their ongoing sales to pay for shipping.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Ok my Full experience ordering directly from Archon to avoid dealing with ND.

Made the order for Zo! adding a note to the order and using their message system in the store that I was a backer and to add the entire wave to the order.

2 Days later got a shipping notification stating only Zo! was being sent and still no reply from Archon for my messages sent to them.

10 Days later after sending 2 messages using their messaging system in their store to please reply I used Steve's advice and replied directly to my shipment email.

Next day I got a reply, 5 emails later on trying to communicate that I was a backer and wanted the entire wave sent with just confusing emails as replies I got my package that included the entire Wave. Never got a confirmation email from Archon that the entire wave was already sent which would have avoided a lot of wasted emails back and forth.

So going through Archon got me what I want the entire process is confusing and needs to be fixed. Paizo Please talk to them about that.
