Calling for Volunteers!

Wednesday, January 16, 2019

The Organized Play Foundation (OPF) is putting the final touches on their call for volunteers for Paizo organized play programs. Paizo requested volunteers for Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild, Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild, Pathfinder Society Academy, Starfinder Society, and Pathfinder Society version 2 at PaizoCon, Origins, Gen Con, UK Games Expo and PAX Unplugged. Registration launches on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 6:00 AM Pacific time. To register, visit OPF Convention Volunteer Page and complete questionnaires for the events you wish to attend. Due to how requests are processed by convention organizing committees, you will need to complete a different questionnaire for every event you wish to volunteer for. Registering early on will ensure maximum choice of program and level of volunteerism, though cancellations mean volunteers are often accepted up to the week before the event.

Each convention will offer a volunteer incentive package based on the number of blocks an individual volunteer. While volunteer incentives vary between each convention, potential offerings include rooms, badges, printed Paizo products, credit for use at Paizo.com, t-shirts, free scenarios, and in-game rewards. The listings on the Organized Play Foundation will outline each conventions incentive package.

Check back next week as the organized play developers preview this month's scenarios for Starfinder Society and Pathfinder Society!

Until next time—Explore, Report, Cooperate!

Let convention season commence!

Will the individual convention listing also which night which "specials" will be running? Or at this point is the sign-up generic and we are simply stating how many blocks we are willing to run, not which specific blocks we are volunteering for?

Looks like the registration link is broken.

It's not going live until Friday at 9am EST, so I don't expect it to work until then.

Oh, a unified Call to Vol! That totally makes sense given how many Paizo conventions there are each year.

Hmm

Sign up to run, register a PFS number, then show up prepared to run a good game.

The Roleplaying Guide Guide can be found here. and should answer a lot of questions.

You should be able to register a number at your My Organized Play page.

I cannot advise enough that you need to play a bit to get a handle on a couple of particulars in society play. Even if (especially if) you have a lot of DMing experience on your players parts.

Well, as far as I can gather: if they're releasing PF2 at GenCon there wouldn't be a season 11.

But yes, I'm also curious if they intend to run Hao Jin Cataclysm again.

I *think* Tonya meant 10-99.

This is what i get for posting early in the morning!

We are not running 10-00 Hao Jin again. The entry I meant to post is "The Finale". I'll double check the number.

Editing original post now.

I was under the impression that volunteer t shirts are only given out at Paizocon every other year. Am I mistaken?

Dark Archive 4/5 5/55/5 **** Venture-Lieutenant, Ohio—Columbus

And i have registered for Origins! FYI there is still some GenCon verbiage in there. Also when i got the confirmation page it gave me the GenCon leads email.

Just want to verify I registered for Origins :)

Also, excited to run PFS Finale!
And my first SFS special!

Thanks!

They are given to new volunteers every year, and to previous volunteers after a certain time period if they request replacements for worn out originals. I forget how long the interval is however.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

The general expectation is volunteer shirts are good for at least two years.

Scarab Sages 2/5 5/55/55/55/5

Not going to lie, I was hoping for a hotel tier for Paizocon. Going to have to take another look at the budget.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

PaizoCon has never provided hotel rooms for the volunteers

The GenCon signup questionnaire says 7 to 10 slots are "Hotel or parking pass"

At what level gives the hotel for sure? Flying in, I won't have a car to park...or sleep in :)

7 Slots. I imagine the parking pass is for those who don't want to stay downtown, such as locals.

FWIW, there was some talk last year of redesigning the T-shirts, which may mean new shirts for everybody this year.

The parking pass wording in the Gen Con rewards is an error to be corrected. There are no parking rewards for Gen Con. All parking arrangements and fees are the responsibility of the volunteer.

The hotel reward is for 7+ blocks

Time to volunteer. It was too much fun not to do it again.

With the launch of a new PFS campaign and the addition of Starfinder, we are taking this year to create new shirts. We are also changing the distribution a bit and allocating shirts based on the number of days volunteers need to wear them.

After this it will be an "every other year if you already got them" distribution model.

Sovereign Court 4/5 * Organized Play Manager

The "parking" entry for Gen Con is now corrected on the OPF website. This was a copy/paste error as other conventions have parking rewards. If I could find a way to guarantee space in a lot, we would offer a parking pass as a reward. I regret that we cannot!

Cleaned up the verbiage. We used Gen Con's questionnaire as a template and some of it didn't get updated. Thanks for the heads up.

Rats! I had assumed that 8-99D would be run at Origins, not 11-99 "The Finale" (or what ever it's number is).
