Meet Reepazo, Your New Buggy Buddy

Thursday, May 11, 2017

You probably have guessed that we like goblin promo characters. To date, we've issued three of these rotters: Ranzak, Ekkie, and Tup. If goblins could read, they'd tell you to collect the set!

Today, we're just giddy about introducing you to your new best friend. Her name's Reepazo, and she's the new Free RPG Day promo character for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Mummy's Mask Adventure Path. You'll be able to pick up a copy at participating hobby retailers, or you can preorder her on paizo.com. She comes with a character card, a role card, a token card, and most importantly, LOTS OF BUGS. (Don't worry—postal regulations prevent us from shipping most of the poisonous ones.)

Best earring.

Reepazo is a Goblin Bugzapper. No, really. She combines two elements that surprisingly rarely coincide in the Pathfinder universe: she can turn herself into a bug, and she can turn you into a bug. Basically, everybody's a bug. It's Free BUG Day!

No, actually, it's Free RPG Day, on Saturday, June 17. Reepazo will be there. Will you?

(If you can't be there, don't worry: Reepazo will be for sale right here on paizo.com starting July 1.)

So We Be Goblins part 5 then?

What are the chances we can get an Ekkie, Tup and Reepazo in a pre-painted plastic mini? We've gotten Ranzak, Chuffy Lickwound, Reta Bigbad, Poolg of Zargonel, Mogmurch, Vorka, Warchief Ripnugget, Konkrud (Chuffy re-paint) and those are just the ones given proper names. I need more :)

Damn goblins! Scurry and Fury don't really rhyme that well and now it's going to bug me all day.

Oh god! That was part of her plan all along!

Thanks for the update!

There is a slight error on the product description, where she is referred to as Tup.

Thanks. Fixed!

I love everything about the USPS's "except scorpions under limited circumstances."

If you look at the details on mailing scorpions, you'll notice the requirement that "Inner receptacle is made of material that cannot be punctured by a scorpion." I'm not sure where to even start with that. I think we need the MythBusters to get back together for a new special entitled "What is Scorpionproof?"

(Also, "Scorpionproof" would make an excellent name for a pepper-infused vodka.)

Will subscriber get her automatically at some point or should we preorder her?
The idea or "preordering a goblin" scares me. I know she won't get my order right. Anything can happen then...

Yeah, I have same question as Frencois. If she's going to be included in a future subscriber shipment, I really don't need to get her right away. But if not, she's going in the next order I put in.

No stats? Buggy wuggy!

Do we have to wait until June 17th to find out her stats and skills? =I

Or a Christian metal band.

Anything in Reepazo's game text which is confusing or doesn't work right is clearly an intentional "bug."

Previous character promos have always been released reasonably close to the start of a new AP, and have thus been sent to subscribers as part of a new AP launch. Our release schedule doesn't provide a similar opportunity within the next year, so if you want Reepazo, you'll need to either get her at a Free RPG Day event or order her from paizo.com in July. (As always, her character sheet will be a free download.)

Yep! But hey, it's barely more than a month away...

Step 1: Drink enough vodka to clear space in the bottle, and to ease any doubts you may have that proceeding to step 2 might or might not be a good idea...

Step 2: Chop two to three North Carolina Reapers into bits small enough to fit through the bottle neck. If you've done Step 1 properly, you should have no qualms about leaving the seeds in.

Step 3: Insert the peppers into the bottle. (EDIT: I had assumed this step was implied, but I remembered my audience, and figured I'd rather not have to FAQ it later...)

Step 4: Re-cap and leave on the counter for 3 to 4 weeks.

Step 5: Prepare to cast Fire Sneeze...

Now now, if your going to do this, I must insist the pepper be Trinidad Scorpion Peppers otherwise, it just doesn't work.

WAY better thematically. But you need to add about 25% more pepper by (dry) mass to get the same heat.

OR just add a pure capsaicin crystal to it with the scorpion. though the oil would be easier to measure by volume.

So, did anyone get their hands on Reepazo already? I'm itching for some spoilers here :)

I'm at work. And my FLGS isn't on the Free RPG Day site. (*grumble*)

I got my copy, and I will just say for the moment that she has one of the longest single powers I've seen on any character, even ones I've created. It involves displaying divine cards to make some of your dice D12 but while displayed you can only play cards with certain traits and all your checks gain the Vermin take. She's weird, to say the least.

Reepazo is definitely weird, alright. If that extra long power bugs you, feel free to let us know.

SPOILEEEEEEEEERS!
We demand spoilers.

Was able to pick one up today, last pack at the FLGS when I got there around 12:30pm PST. I also picked up a copy of the Starfinder booklet for the heck of it.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Oh, and Reepazo also has the ability to ignore Poison resistance on enemies with one of her two roles, which is AWESOME.

My FLGS closed, but the city in which I'm vacationing has one!

Reepazo's skills:
str d8; dex d8, Melee: dex+1; con d6; int d6; wis d8, Divine: wis+2; cha d6, Survival: cha+3

Reepazo's powers:
hand Size 4[]5; light armors & weapons.
When you encounter a card, you may display a boon that has the Divine trait ([]and you may recharge a card displayed by this power to evade your encounter). While displayed, your Constitution and Dexterity dice are d12, and you may only play boons that have the Goblin, Melee, Poison, or Vermin ([] or Divine) trait; add the Vermin trait to your checks. At the end of any encounter, you may recharge all cards displayed by this power.

When you attempt a check that invokes the Poison, Swarm, or Vermin trait, add 1d6 ([] and before the roll, you may draw a card).

I picked up Reepazo at my FLGS, but the packs were open and I was only able to obtain three cards. These included one token card, one role card, and one advertisement card. Was that everything, or am I missing something?

The copies I saw at my FLGS were also "open" with the cards banded together with plastic, as opposed to being in a sealed bag as in previous years. My Reepazo has the three cards Gingernatar mentioned, as well as a PACG Mummy's Mask card (sort of a title card for Free RPG Day, no game value).

Looks like your pack is missing the Character Card.

One odd thing I noticed was that the way you flip the role card or character card to read what's on the other side seems to have changed; I'm used to flipping the cards along the long edge, but for Reepazo I have to flip the cards along the short edge.

If you can't get it from the store, try the Paizo customer service and ask if they can send you the missing card.

I was really disappointed that Reepazo wasn't available at Origins this year like Tup was last year. It's really annoying that choosing to go to a major gaming convention makes one miss out on Free RPG Day entirely. Especially as this is suddenly the first promo we don't get for free as subscribers.

Does anyone know when Reepazo's sheet will be added to the online compendium download? My Ak in Mummy's Mask feels bad being the only half of his party with a sheet :(

I agree. I also use sheets instead of cards. It would be nice to have the character sheet available.

I find myself wondering, because I like the look of this character, how Reepazo would translate to actual Pathfinder rules. I think that they would be a druid, but am now considering alternatives since I'm thinking of making a pre-We Be Goblins adventure for my group that would follow a young Gutwad Rendwattle and Vorka (I made them lovers that eventually spurned each other), and I would not want to have another druid, but I totally dig Reepazo's vibe...
