Give us something set in the Darklands, how about Far Parathra or one of the Duegar or Dark Folk cities. Perhaps adventurers escorting surface ambassadors or merchants. So much potential :o)

Dungeon crawl. A straight up loot the tomb/ruin story. I think it would help ground how being a resident of Golarion views treasure hunting as a legitimate occupation. Maybe a bit of Aspis or Pathfinder rivalry in the mix.

Also, something I've never really seen work well in longer form than a short story or a few chapters of a longer novel is a dungeon-delve style story. So please stay away from that.

I've been giving more thought as to what sort of story structures are missing from the Pathfinder Tales line. Note - I haven't read all the books, so this isn't entirely informed. From what I can see a lot of the stories tend to follow a similar adventure-like structure: there's either a mystery to uncover, a bad guy to thwart, a magic item to recover/destroy, etc. And if the writer's good, they'll weave together a number of these into obstacles facing their characters, all tying together in a lovely combination of fireworks at the climax.

I think what makes Inheritance stand out is that it's a character-based tale wrapped in the guise of an adventure. It's not the demons that need dealing with, but the emotional trauma of a broken family - to phrase it a little over-dramatically.

Now, I love me some adventure, but I think there's some cool elements that can be explored in the Pathfinder setting. For example, the Kingmaker AP has the PCs ending up ruling their own kingdom. In a similar vein, how about a novel where the protagonist has to struggle with the weight and responsibilities of rulership, or the difficult decisions of military command. There's plenty of conflict in Golarion, would be interesting to see that explored in more nation-vs-nation detail.

Just something to consider.

And finally, while I know this isn't the story usually told in Sword & Sorcery fiction, I'd like a novel where the protagonist doesn't fight anything or anyone throughout the whole story, but wins by simply being that good at talking his/her way out or in of things (or persons).

And hmm... I don't think we've seen a good, fun trickster protagonist since Winter Witch. (I know, Gad and company are definitely tricksters - but I wouldn't call them fun.)

I'm sure I'm in minority, but more stuff dealing with with Tian-Xia classes/characters would be nice. Probably with fish-out-of-water storylines. Master of Devils/Husk/Jade Regent AP brought up some great locales that I'd like to see explored more in the novels.

I'm a pretty big fan of Golarion's various faiths and religions and mythology.
More Clerics, paladins, oracles, inquisitors, or especially devout non-divine spell casters as characters would be cool. Or more stories that center around religious conflicts.

I'll second Ryan Costello's idea (how aasimars and/or tieflings view normal races), the Darklands requests, and also, Hellknights and something set in Galt (not sure if any of these have been done before, as I haven't read all of them yet).

I would like to see something that picks up and develops the lore of one of the deities who are dead, missing, or obscure.

Not Aroden. He's plenty well developed. I'm thinking:

- Curchanus (dead). Any last tattered remnants of his legacy lingering in some forgotten corner of the world?

- Count Ranalc (missing). What HAS he been up to these last few millennia?

- Lissala (obscure, maybe dead). Is she truly gone? Hanging on in some diminished form? Morphed into a different deity? If she is really gone, maybe she left some nasty surprises somewhere?

A female half-erinyes/half-human seeking to escape the Daughters of Eiseth and the clergy of Asmodeus in order to forge her own destiny and discover who she is and what she wants.

A male Ifrit Inquisitor of Iomedae discovering just how corrupt and amoral the Burners of Hulran are in the Worldwound.

A female undine oracle (Mystery: Waves) who makes a living in a costal community rescuing sailors stricken on the rocks and helping fishermen.

A love story between a human cavalier (order of the dragon) and Thais (aka the accidental herald of Cayden Cailean).

A adventure/romance between an male aasimar paladin and a female half-elf sacred prostitute of Calistria.

I would read the hell out of a novel about how WotR's half-orc paladin's parents met, or a parallel to that background elsewhere.

Taking a slightly different tack with it... This might work better as a web fiction, but I'd love to see someone 'transcribe' an Ailson Kindler novel or short story. I'd be curious to see what sort of fiction is actually popular in Golarion.

I'd like some more fiction about Blackjack.

I liked how King of Chaos was a tie in for Wrath of the Righteous, and that it gave a good immersive view of the AP without really stealing any of it's plot. I'd like to see more novels do this, especially with some of the more non-standard APs to help players and GMs for those campaigns get a feel for the tone of the campaign/region.

I also would love to have the novel line be able to explore areas of Golarion that aren't yet covered in the RPG line, and could therefore be used as a litmus test for the popularity for these other regions to spur the RPG line in directions that Paizo thinks could be more risky. I'd especially like to see Arcadia and Southern Garund covered this way, as well as Casmaron. Also, psychic magic would be great to have in a novel to test the waters for including a system for it in the RPG.

Similarly, the fiction line could be used to re-visit areas that have been covered, but aren't likely to get more RPG coverage in the future, like the Crown of the World, etc.

I'd like to see a Cleric handled as a Cleric, for some reason writers are allergic to divine magic in their stories. (I know the reason, because it's hard to imperil characters who can get healed up soon after). I still think a full on Cleric of Shelyn would be a fantastic romantic lead for a novel (male or female).

More halflings, those guys really need fleshing out.

I agree with the call for bad guy protagonists. I just re-read "Plague of Shadows" and thought that Arcil was a much more interesting character than the rest.

Hmm... speaking personally, what I really enjoy is an unusual take on the standard ideas that we see in games. For example, I recently made a vengeful ghost NPC... bucketload of curse skills, emotion-affecting magic, and other things designed to cause torment for whoever she's currently haunting. However, this character isn't an evil problem for heroes to defeat - in fact, innocent people have absolutely nothing to worry about, because the spirit's goal is to make evildoers suffer. Not just die courtesy of sword or spell, but find themselves shunned, scorned, and ultimately broken by the weight of their sins. Great heroes in particular might find themselves the object of the spirit's protection (whether they like it or not).

I guess what I'm trying to say is... throw a bunch of ideas together. Pick a favorite or two from the pile, then start asking how you can do something with that idea in a way people probably wouldn't expect to see. You can explore a lot of interesting themes and ideas when characters are able to confront something that's not always black-and-white.

I think there is some ground to mine here. Nightglass covers some of this territory (students in a magic school), but in a different context.

Still holding my breath for an actual print version of the online short stories,as well as compiled and collected versions of the stories in the APs. I just like to carry a book around to read while my wife shops and short stroies are the best for that. And books do not run out of power or need wifi. (I play pen and paper table top for a reason) Other than that, I would like to see some historical tales, I love that kind of stuff. They tend to make the world a little more rounded and flesh things out. I love dimensional travel, I know Salim already did that and I hope to see more, but what about all those gates? Where do they go? Definently want to see more of the other planets

That is a really neat idea. I like that one a lot.

On a similar note, one thing I think would be funny would be re-education fables in Galt, a la Aesop with morals as approved by today's revolutionary in the Reign of Terror. And then each of the four chapters would just be revised/censored versions of the original story with the moral suitably tweaked to suit the whims of the power of the day.

I will never do this project because I've got no plans to write about Galt in any capacity ever, but I think it'd be a fun experimental piece.

Fleshing out some more of the Kelish empire, that part that always falls off the East side of maps. There are supposed to be tons of nations and peoples there... lets read about some of them!

A history on the dervish wars

That whole area West of Azlant could use some fleshing out

I enjoyed the Pirate's Honor run ins with the slavers... something developing the slavers a bit

Not sure how to keep spoilers out of things, but I would like to see some of the past seasons' PFS metaplots pulled together

What is the Dev's/your viewpoint on the quasi trilogy way of handling blocks of time and groups of peoples that Dragonlance did? I enjoyed that format... maybe I am in the minority but it gave some cohesiveness across arcs, sort of like what we are enjoying with the Radovan et al line. Dragons of... , Heroes, Classics, ... Nations, Chronicles.

Me, too. Their names are Azra and Malena, and they've been waiting patiently in my idea folder since I turned in Prince of Wolves. I would love to revisit them one day, but the stars have not yet aligned.

I would love to see a story where the main character is a summoner personally, haven't really seen many of them outside of King of Chaos and Faithful Servants. For that matter I'd really like to see a Numerian magus to see how they differ from the more traditional magi, think that witches and gunslingers could both use a little more exposure too for that matter. Going off prestige classes I'd really love to see something with the Red Mantis Assassins and Hellknights.

Personally I would enjoy seeing something take place in Numeria, probably one of the most interesting nations that hasn't really been delved into. Same goes for the Mwangi Expanse, another place that gets mentioned pretty regularly but never really explored in any of the novels. Would be fun to see how things work in Andoran, got that distinctive 13 colonies feel to it that could be fun from what I've read.

As far as races go, where to begin? Aasimar, androids, dwarves, kitsune, and, perhaps most importantly, kobolds. Actually haven't seen anything dealing with Cayden Cailean or his ilk so I'd really like to see that change in the near future, just seems like he hasn't been very active compared to all the other good aligned deities which is a real shame since he has always struck me as being one of the most interesting gods.

While I always love the traditional fantasy stuff I've discovered over the past few years that I've really got a thing for the noir genre thanks to a culmination of comics, movies, games, and novels.

Plague of Shadows spends some considerable time in Galt, and there are some Galtans in the connected web story Walkers from the Crypt.
