Still waiting on one more player. PM to the player has been sent.
GM Valen
This is a repeatable scenario. Are there any players at this table that have NOT played this scenario before?
GM Valen
Excellent! Then, I will proceed accordingly.
GM Valen
No level 3 PCs, so no level bumps.

I will be travelling between September 4 and September 8. During that time, I expect my posting to be very limited, if not non-existent.
GM Valen
I do not anticipate making another post before I return from my trip next week.

The lack of updates on my part have been a combination of catching up on work/life after travel and waiting on Ving and Aleksander for any possible Aid attempts. While normally Aid attempts should be done before the primary check, I allow for them to be rolled afterwards due to the asynchronous nature of PbP.
Schedule permitting, I will update sometime tomorrow and resolve the current and any additional checks. Note, it may be midweek before I am back to my usual posting schedule. Vacations now days seem to be less getting away from work for a time and instead more just putting it off as it continues to stack up.

I noticed on the map that I started with 2 Hero Points. I adjusted my tagline accordingly. It currently reads 1/2 instead of 0/1. If I am incorrect, please let me know. Thank you.

I will traveling over the next few days and through the weekend. I will try to get another post in before going to bed tonight, but if do not, my next update will be Monday or Tuesday.
GM Valen
Did a '26' miss the Black creature?
No. I was I who missed the '26'.
Damage updated in Gameplay thread.
GM Valen
It appears to me that, from Ving's current location, Ving has line of sight with right, but not with blue.
I added a pale blue dotted line showing line of sight on red to the Map.

post after the cone attack listed 28 damage. 9 damage absorbed by the hardness of 10 means no damage from that attack. 7 damage was taken from the second attack for a total of 35 not 46.
Point of contention: You stated that the cone attack was not targeted, but if that was true the caster would not have moved into a postion where it would avoid hitting it's companion as well.

Target is a game term with a specific definition.
Targets are chosen whereas areas affect creatures and/or object inside the area, but they are not chosen and are thus not targets.
As an example, you roll a flat check to target a creature wthat has the concealed or hidden conditions. You do not roll a flat check when that creature is inside an area.

You are correct on the first attack. I made an error applying only Hardness 5 when--as you noted--heightened, it was Hardness 10. The 9 damage from the first attack was absorbed. (-28 HP -0 = -28 HP).
The second attack appears to be a critical hit due to the result of a 20 on the die roll. As such, damage was doubled (7x2=14) (-28 HP -14 HP = -42 HP). If I missed anything else, let me know. Otherwise, I will correct the damage in my next post.

The cone attack was an area attack and not targeted. That is my call. If you would like another VA to review my call, I invite you to do so. As noted above, I am quite capable of making errors.

I am fine. probably thinking old-school where when you cast a spell you choose which area you were targeting with the spell. Sorry for the disruption. Getting old.

Quick question, Ving has his belongings in his sleeves of storing. Is retrieving and drinking a potion 2 actions or 3?
2 actions total.
One action to retrieve the potion.
One action to activate it.

Your dice roll total was 34 to hit. Ving's AC was 21. That makes it a critical hit.
The damage roll was 16. Critical damage total 32. Ving's HP was 11.
Ving is now instantly dead beyond healing and basically spare parts.
I went to the Boon section and purchased the Second Chance Boon.

I agree.

That is a good boon to have, but I don't agree that Ving is now dead (though his situation is dire).
Per the dying rules, I believe that Ving is dying but is yet not dead. Because a critical hit dropped him below 0 HP, he is at dying 2. He is not "dead beyond healing" until he reaches dying 4. He does have to make a save versus the poison sap, so a failure could drop him to dying 3 (or a critical failure could drop him to dying 4). But he is not there yet
Massive damage rules require the damage to double the PC's maximum Hit Points (not current) so those rules don't apply.
Also, Ving has 2 Hero Points, which can be used to keep him from becoming "basically spare parts" this round.
