I can take a glance if you want. Probably won’t get to it until Monday but maybe today.

If you could attach either the hero lab file (preferable, if you have it) or the pdf of the sheet to a private message that would probably be best

Found this image of Tania Sol-Mizi-Halval This is just perfect.

Would somebody be willing to help me spend my remaining PPs? Aurora was built with 144, and I want to spend 10 to get +5 to some of her abilities. I think that leaves me with like 21 left.

Beyond that, I'm really not sure. Most likely more dark/light powers, or maybe just increasing the ones she already has.

Unfortunately, she currently exists on a Herolab sheet my old GM made for her, and idk how to really share that, aside from like an email attachment or via google drive.

I'd be happy to pull together some ideas. I think I can do that on Sunday.

One trick is that you can use the mutants and masterminds package on Herolab classic even if you don't own it. You can use it to build powers and it will show you power point totals. You just can't save it or export the character.

Darkforce is usually cold in the Marvel universe. Could add some cold powers. Also usually drains energy. Could add an affliction leading to paralysis.

Light powers could be blinding burst or aura.

Environment power to control light and darkness in an area. Crank up the area to make it big.

Immunity to light effects would be 10 points. Immunity to Darkness effects would be 10 points.

Invisibility by warping light.

Darkness fear effects. Make people run away, freeze in fear.

I think this is what I see as far as progress on submissions. Likely I missed something in my review of the thread, so please update. Will take submissions through Wednesday. Still play to take 5 players.

I've not seen the build ST/MG but if not present you could also consider Sensory options allowing Aurora to be unaffected by darkness/fading light or not dazzled by bright lights etc.

Other option would be Remote Sensing also - she can feel or "see" anything her darkness/shadows or beams of light touch etc.

@Monkeygod

I use this powerlisting fandom site for superpower ideas: Dark Powers and light powers

Or do you require a specific paizo id for a submission?

Nope. I just missed it.

I've worked in more background and tweaking my points. I have 3 left, I spend three, come up with some efficiencies and have 3 left. He's basically done, just fine tuning. I will continue to work on the background as well.

Okay, still working on Maggie's sheet, but I'm definitely submitting her. I need to stat up her minions and finalize a few other things.

And on that note, I'm struggling how to add something to her sheet.

So, one of Maggie's abilities is to create paper golems that move, attack, distract, and spy for her. She creates one of eight unique creatures that each have a role. Most of these can stat up fine as ordinary Summonable minion constructs.

But one of the constructs is a paper dragon which she essentially uses as an airplane: it flies, it carries a small number of people. And, slightly more complex, it can expand itself to wrap around another object (like another airplane) to carry it.

It mostly makes sense not to stat this as a creature, per se, but as a vehicle. And it works out pretty well:

Paper Dragon (built using vehicle/equipment points)
As small jet (base 19 points): Gargantuan, Str 12, Speed 8 (Air), Def 4, Toughness 11; Minion (-1); Summonable (+1); Power: Manipulator System (Extra Limb) (+1, sustained)--be able to carry objects up to the "vehicles'" strength. 20 equipment pts total

I could add imperviousness to its Toughness, but other than that it seems a reasonable cost as is.

Where I'm not sure to continue on the first point is to apply certain limitations: it is her summon, and only she can control it. She can't do anything except control it while she uses it and it eventually falls apart as the paper wears out. All of these are stattable--could add a bonus Extra to indicate sole control; could add the Concentration, Distracting, and Fades flaws. But can I add those flaws directly to a vehicle? Or do I try to more complexly stat this thing up as a Device package first?

I'd also like to add this to her paper powers array (she can't use most of her other powers while using it) so the whole thing can't cost more than 20 Power Points if I add it as a power (I think that's equivalent to the equipment points? Or do PP equal EP/5?). Does that make sense?

In short, does this sound like an okay build add, and/or how would you add the Paper Dragon to her sheet?

20 power points would buy 100 equipment points.

Herolab lets me build an array that includes Summon and a power called Summon Vehicle.

Powers
Array 1
Summon Vehicle: Summon 7 (Controlled)
Summon: Summon 10

SUMMON VEHICLE
You conjure up a vehicle to transport you (and possibly others). Create it according to the usual vehicle rules (Deluxe Hero’s Handbook, page 221) based on (rank × 15 points).
Cost-wise, this is similar to the Equipment advantage (which costs 1 point per 5 points of the vehicle’s cost) but sustained rather than continuous and with different descriptors.

You may pilot the vehicle yourself or have someone else do so. If the vehicle is capable of driving itself, apply the Responsive modifier of Summon; it essentially removes the move action required to pilot. If the vehicle is remote controlled and must come to you, rather than simply appearing, apply the Self-Powered modifier.

Power: Summon Vehicle, Controlled • 3 points per rank

Thanks, I'll plug that into my Excel sheet. I know how useful Hero Lab is for M&M, but I purchased Hero Lab so many computers ago, I've surpassed their installation limit, and I refuse to purchase it again given said draconian DRM practice among their other nickel-and-dime profit strategies. (I.e., Hero Lab is a great product made by a shitty company, and I refuse to engage with it.)

Hello Everyone, I'm not a regular on this site, but I was told you all have a great superhero application going and that I should look into it. Not sure what you all are applying with, but I was thinking about applying with Blue Beetle. I'm currently working on the build with HeroLab and hope to post it soon enough. I'm staying pretty true to his Post-Crisis origin from the 80s, but I'm not including his Bug airship in the build. I just wanted to drop in and say "Hi" and let you all know my interest and that I'll have that build up in a few hours (just need to finish up with work first).

Welcome Rogue-Mage - looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)

Here's Black Dow's version of 1950s Herakles - I've managed to incorporate some DC elements into the (mostly) Marvel version of this mighty mortal demigod.

Have injected the Amazons into his reality's mythology/status-quo and he's gained Bracers of Victory for debt repaid to them during WW2. Have also included him joining the Agents of A.R.G.U.S as part of their Avengers programme... and sprinkled some other easter eggs into the mix :)

Build nearly there - struggling to spend the 175PP like everyone else lol, but would appreciate a cursory eye o'er my maths etc and any suggestions on where those points could be spent.

Again he's an exiled Demi-god whose no longer immortal - hence his lack of full godhood abilities etc.

Thank you for the welcome Herakles.

I like how you blended DC with Marvel to create your own Amalgam character. That sounds like a fun idea. I might consider that and blend DC with Watchmen to make Blue Beetle a bit more Pulp/Noir than his take. Lets see how that comes out. Will post HeroLab build after work.

Cheers rogue-mage, took me a while - initially just went with Marvel variant of Herakles as I'm more familiar with that comic universe. Once I got that down pat I started researching down the various rabbit holes that bore me the version I have now :)

Here is my 1st draft, so I'm still tweaking it a bit.

Blue Beetle - PL 10

Advantages
Improved Critical 2: BB Gun, Improved Critical 2: Unarmed, Inventor, Speed of Thought

=Visual: Senses 5 (Acute: Visual, Analytical: Visual, Darkvision, Microscopic Vision 1: dust-size)
=Wireless: Radio Communication 1
BB Gun (Easily Removable)
=Concussive Air Blast: Cone Area Move Object 10 (25 tons, DC 25; Cone Area: 60 feet cone, DC 20, Damaging; Diminished Range 3, Limited Direction: Away from User)
=Dazzle: Cumulative Affliction 10 (1st degree: Impaired, 2nd degree: Disabled, 3rd degree: Unaware, Resisted by: Fortitude, DC 20; Cumulative, Increased Range: ranged; Diminished Range 2, Limited: to Sight Only)

Grab, +7 (DC Spec 13)
Throw, +5 (DC 18)
Unarmed, +15 (DC 18)

Complications
Heart Condition: Ted Kord has a heart condition, and for someone in his line of work it can be even deadlier than the enemies he faces. The human body can only take so much stress and punishment before it just runs out.
Inferiority Complex: Ted Kord is just a regular man. He is surrounded by "heroes" with more powers than he can ever dream of possessing, and this makes him feel less than everyone else.

Languages
Native Language

Defense
Dodge 5, Parry 8, Fortitude 5, Toughness 10, Will 5

Power Points
Abilities 70 + Powers 40 + Advantages 6 + Skills 50 (100 ranks) + Defenses 3 = 169

The Myth of Orion, you are correct. It could be a hell of a character, it just isn't steeped in quite as much lore. I would be open to hearing preferences from anyone :)

@rogue-mage - you have more PP to play with than you think mate - believe Skill ranks cost 1:4 in this game rather than the 1:2 traditionally.

I've put Maggie into an alias here

I still need to fix and finalize a few things. For example, I only just realized I somehow gave her Toughness 12 instead of 10, with powers active). And actually that might be appropriate but I need to be sure I've got the right tradeoffs elsewhere. She has a few points to be spent still. I may give her a "Sense Paper" ability... pretty limited, but the idea is she can sense paper or books within a certain radius of her even if she can't see it. This is mostly to allow her to make use of the paper in her environment for her powers, but could be handy given her detective skills as well.

I also need to finish statting her Paper Familiars (summons). She has six specific ones she can use, including the Dragon. One thing I'm hitting is the familiars are PL 6 (based on the rank of her summoning ability). But do I limit their abilities based on their power level or the game's power level? I am assuming generally their power level, and I'd actually prefer to keep it that way for the most part, but then I hit stuff like... is it okay to give one of the creatures Shrinking 8 so it can shrink to Tiny size?

(Also there's some math errors in the familiars I need to fix but wanted to get the answer to this question first.)

Great catch @Black Dow, I'll look into spend those points. I do appreciate the review.

I reread the Summon rules, and the summoned minions are limited to their own Power Level.

But I *think* I'm okay taking 8 ranks in Shrinking as long as the abilities they get from that size doesn't exceed the PL caps. Would still like feedback on that.

Good luck everyone

Finally got the crunch for my Spider-Woman pitch. Powers-wise she's pretty standard with nothing to off the chart for a Web-Head but hopefully getting into her history and complications (the fluff) will make her more distinct and interesting. Beyond that I have been struggling to find some extra points to boost some of her skills and I am worried about not maxing out some of her save defenses and attacks but I think the build is functionable. If anyone has some advice to share or a review to offer that would be great.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If you lowered your Agility and Presence by 2 each that gives you back 8 points total. You have two agility skills and two presence skills. To keep their bonuses you spend 2 points for 8 skill points and done. You have to bring your dodge back up to 12 costing 2 points. This gives you a net 4 points to work with for other things.

I know you are trying to have a smart character but you could do the same thing with Intelligence. Go with a 3 Int, recoup 2 points and then spend that point on skills to raise all three intel skills by 1 to make up the difference, add 1 to one of those skills, and still have 1 power point left for other things.

Hello! Finally, Maggie is in a reasonably complete state/. She has 3 points left but unless I realize I forgot something, I'll either reserve those to spend alongside XP later, or contribute them toward a shared HQ or something (those 3 points could add 15 points to a vehicle or stronghold).

Never mind on the question about Shrinking, I just did away with the shrinks to tiny aspect for the one creature.

I'm sure this could still do with tweaks, but man is it a lot of work to stat up the summoned creatures. I think I resolved all the obvious tradeoff problems and math issues. LMK if any questions, concerns, or WTFs.

OT talk about Lone Wolf:
I'm glad you had a good experience with them. Truly! If their restrictive licensing and other policies weren't enough to annoy me, there was a Lone Wolf rep who used to post here at the Paizo boards back in the day named Rob who I recall as arrogant and dismissive of anyone who had a complaint or concern, no matter how legit or calmly/respectfully expressed. So it's nice to sound like at least their representatives' attitude has changed.

I've nonetheless spent more money than I wanted to on a product I can't use, and I have no patience for going back and forth with a customer service rep to try to get what I paid for, especially since I bought it long enough ago I'm sure I couldn't provide proof of purchase. There's no reason I should have to spend time begging people to simply give me what I purchased, so I'm just not going to engage with the product. I'm not the kind of person who pirates (pirates ruin shit for the rest of us) but they're the only company who's ever tempted me to. But I'll just use my other options, even if they are less than ideal.

Delightful, is this a Gwen variant? Doesn't matter too much, just curious.

Upped Herak's skills somewhat and also included a Alternate Effect on his Bracers of Victory.

Still a bunch of PP to spend - so might need some steer on how best to spend them pending the final lineup.

I will tentatively say yes. Still hashing out some details though. Might decided an adult Mayday Parker might fit better but I think I'll probaby stick with Gwen.

I'm pretty close to decisions, but I'm going to sleep on it.

Thanks everyone for the submissions. You have made it very difficult to choose.

Dang it, I was really hopin to get to play Aurora again. I had gotten rather attached to her before Reckless' game died. Ah well, perhaps someday I'll finally get to play in a decent length M&M game, but alas not this time :(

Truly sorry Monkeygod. I really like Aurora, as I hope you saw in my investment in working on the build. Maybe we can bring her in for an issue or two, or put her in a different series.
