What would you spend your platinum on?
I'm having a hard time with the Firefly 'verse economy.
There's not a lot of better equipment (i.e., weapons, armor, etc.) to buy. You could go for the really expensive Alliance and illegal gear, but if you're caught by the Alliance with it, you *will* go to jail.
Any ideas?

Well, during stops, I am looking for underbarrel lasers, magazines (also known to laymen as clips), ammunition, bipods, scopes, red dot sights. for the legal stuff.
Just methods of making my shots more accurate.
Keeping an ear out for Black Market for the following.
Rifle Grenades, Underbarrel Grenade Launcher, grenades. Assault rifle ammunition and magazines.
Will not be pushing for the Black market stuff.
I have the rifle (Browncoat issue) from character creation, but have 0 ammo, and 0 extra gear for it.
I will also be buying more mundane stuff such as good food for the ship for a couple of meals, of the next trip, along with changes of cloths, sheets, and other stuff.
Beyond that, I really don't know what else I would be looking for right now.
Daisy Mae Puckett
Daisy is using some to save up for the future in whatever banking method the Firefly universe uses.
She also spends money on clothes, necessities, things to make the ship nicer like sheets, artwork, pillows, nicer dishes and such.
She might be in the market for a larger rifle at some point.

Harold - is there any SW system book that prices the legal and black market weapon-based items you listed?
For black market stuff, you'd need to do a Networking (Persuasion) roll to find a seller.
Whenever you land on a planet and want to buy weaponry, just say so and we can roll-play it (briefly).
Daisy - I can't find anything on-line about banking in the 'verse, so I'd say you can either carry your platinum around with you, or convert it to Alliance credits and store it in an Alliance bank (many Border planets have at least a little Alliance presence, so that's not as restrictive as it might seem). I suppose non-Alliance planets might have local banks or maybe even a banking chain, but I doubt planets on the Border (and definitely not on the Rim) are organized enough to have a banking system that spans planets. So you could deposit your money, but you'd have to come back to that planet to withdraw any. Heck, the Rim planets probably deal more by barter than by actual money anyway.
Any time you want to go shopping for a larger rifle, just let me know in-game.
ALL - I'm not going to track the few platinum it costs for fresh food that you all buy on each planet in preparation for the next trip.

Arabella is interested in a camera (still, video, or both). I there are images on the in-game version of the internet, I'd assume they have digital image technology.
She has a rapier but something more like a katana or wakizashi (longsword/shortsword, essentially) or a Chinese Tai Chi traditional ceremonial sword, called a jian, a straight double-edge sword with a tip. This video shows an example and some instruction in how it is used in meditative Tai Chi exercises.
Arabella would like to have such a sword, which could be used in combat, but she would use it more for meditation exercises, but also so she might become a better fighter, should push come to stab. I'm not expecting this to be anything special, even if she finds a katana, it need not have any special properties. It's mostly a prop, but it could come in useful. She can trade her rapier for one if she can find one.

Arabella - I'm just making up numbers here, how about 50 PP for the video camera (no IR or UV capabilities), and 150 PP for the sword? Mechanically, the sword would be treated as a short sword.
The camera would be easily available on Alliance planets, but in the Border and Rim, you'd probably have to Network to find one. The sword could be found with a Networking roll on any planet. For both, -2 for Border planets and -4 for Rim planets.
Sound good?

Just to clarify, I will not be looking for the BM, on any alliance core world.
As for the rest of the stuff, you can find it in the main SWADE book under gear.
but I will chase down the prices for you, and will get back to you.

Just a heads up I'm headed to the Origins convention, and I'm not sure how often I'll be able to check the boards to post - at least not until next Monday, June 23rd. Please bot me as needed!
GM_ZenFox42
Wren - you can add the +1 to just the higher roll if you wish, it's just traditional to add bonuses (and penalties) to both dice so you can tell at a glance your final number.
Oh, I just noticed that you added the +1 as plain text outside of the die roll. You can add it directly to the roll by doing something like :
{dice=Whatever & Wild}d10+1; d6+1{/dice} (the "dice=" title doesn't have to be in this exact format)
But whatever works for you...

Portrait, use with Paizo Firefox Browser Extension if you have it
I updated the image I use for Arabella. Also, the Chrome version of the browser extension no longer works on Chrome, so I'm using Firefox to be able to take advantage of what the extension has to offer. I recommend it.
If you are unfamiliar, the browser extension does two things. When you open your root profile with the Campaigns tab, it shows all active campaigns with a notice of how many new posts there have been in each thread since you last viewed that thread (assuming you viewed it with the same browser).
Second, you can replace the profile image you see in games with one of your own choosing. No one else sees those images, but I often have trouble finding an image in the Paizo collection that matches how I imagine the character. Sometimes I also replace the images for other PCs or GMs to more closely match the character, particularly for games with non-human PCs that don't have many options in the Paizo portrait list.
If you have a pic that matches your character concept better than your profile image, post it and I'll use it for your character.

Feeling a bit better from when I buggered up my back again. :(
Got to love doctor prescribed morphine, and bed rest for 3 days.
Give me a bit of time, and I will get caught up and posting again.
Harold Wainwright
I'll never be 100% again, but I get to a point were I can live with it.
I just have to be aware that I cannot use my back as much as when I was younger. :(

Another late afternoon thunderstorm; another night without power. Still waiting for power to be restored. I will post after that. Sorry for the delay.
Ohhh. I hope you aren't stuck under the 'heat dome' with no power. Hate to hear this, hope it's fixed soon!

Power came on by noon on Monday, so not too bad. I'm more comfortable in hot weather than most. The heat dome did make for good stargazing conditions that allowed me to get some good astrophotos. I also played a PFS game at a local gaming store, first one since before COVID.

Believe it or not I am headed into public for gaming as we speak (type). I am going to head to a gaming store where I should be able to attend one of my VTT games and not have to be constructioned out of my mind here at home.
A reno AND a full scale building project outside are a lot to try to deal with at the same time. Hope to sleep in bed tonight too ...

Heh, the black knight
Well let go from. My job for "Sleeping" when it was a diabetic event
Lots of concern for thier employees.
Looking for a lawyer for wrongful dismissal due to medical conditions.
So will continue on phone and tablet, just if i am holding things up, bot me.

Just noticed someone with an ongoing SW Deadlands campaign is recruiting for some new players. Recruitment link as of July 23. Seems it might still be open.
GM_ZenFox42
I'm in that game. Sorry, it just didn't even occur to me to post here when the GM re-opened Recruitment. I've been wrapped up in a personal project.
For those of you who don't know, Deadlands combines the old-west/wild-west genre with horror and steampunk elements. It's an alternate history where magic and monstrous creatures exist, stemming from a supernatural event called "The Reckoning".
We now have 4 players, don't know if the GM has a maximum limit, but everyone's welcome to post and find out.
We have a shaman, a gunslinger, a territorial ranger (works for the government), and a harrowed (undead) chi master. We don't have a huckster, witch, blessed, grifter, or a mad scientist. Don't know the setting well enough to know if there's other archetypes.
You'd need to get the current, "basic" (there are many sub-settings) Deadlands setting book if you don't already have it.
