Here is the original post for these doors. San eventually got them open with a 22 (religion) roll, which GM Cellion said was the trickier of the two skills.

Question: Can I use a Hero Point to reroll my failed check?

I'm not sure if you need to reroll before the result is known, or if you can roll after? I did find this discussion but of course it's ultimately up to our GM.

(This is for future reference--the Rust Creep has already been described, so I'll stick with the failed roll.)

Yes, you can reroll after results are revealed. I handle it differently at my face to face table, but PbP is a different beast thanks to being asynchronous, so late rerolls are OK.

@Vildran: Just trying to understand the wizard class correctly before botting Vildran this weekend—am I correct that Vildran gets 10(!) cantrips? 2 (Detect Magic + Light) that are fixed from the Sorcerer archetype, 5 from the Wizard class, plus 1 (Message) as a Curriculum cantrip, and 2 from the Cantrip Expansion feat? (Not including Ignition from your staff.)

If so, on your profile I see Message listed twice, so I think you can prepare one more cantrip instead? (And in the future, if you want to diversify the party cantrips, Autumn has Figment so you can prepare something else.)

Working on a post now. But I was thinking it'd be better to hope that Morga randomly attacks the sinspawn, and that the sinspawn damage triggers the flat checks for us? Otherwise we're wasting actions.

You can tumble through as well. Technically Vildran also acts before Morga (I accidentally didn't order my tracker correctly) if you want to try another slap attempt. In general, if you connect with a slap, do roll a d20 with your post so we're clear immediately if the confused party is brought to their senses. Once Vildran acts if Morga's still confused I'll roll her random attacks.

Confusion is a little awkward in group initiative for pbp.

Yep, thats the d20 I mentioned in my previous post. I think going forward if anyone is rolling to break someone out of confusion, you should also roll the flat check to see if they break out of it when you connect. Also, slapping someone is still an attack, so don't forget that MAP.

Sorry, just want to clarify a couple things.

1) Morga has a max of 30 hp, so I assume the 20 dmg to Morga in your last post is a typo (because otherwise she'd still be up)?

2) Morga had a shield in one hand, and a starknife in the other--was it even possible for her to cast a spell (with the manipulate trait)? I know you can't do that in 1e, but I'm not sure about 2e. (Yes, this is a desperate attempt to keep Morga alive--she wouldn't be able to cast Heal, but the Reactive Strike also wouldn't happen then.)

Seaweed Leshy Technomancer 1 / Game Master 3 | Maps: (SRD Handouts) | (SRD Maps) | (DoF Handouts) | (DoF Maps) | (DA Maps)

Oops, I completely misread Morga's max HP. That said, due to the crit reactive strike interrupting her heal, there are no changes to the result.

The sequence of actions was:
- Morga attempts a heal. Reactive strike crits for 18 and interrupts it.
- Morga raises her shield
- Morga shield blocks the 10 damage hit. Takes 5 damage and falls. Blue stands there menacingly for its remaining action.

And yes, in 2E, you can cast with your hands totally full!

Oh, that’s really useful! I was keeping track of whether Autumn had both hands on her crossbow or one hand free for casting, but it’s nice to know I don’t have to bother with such things. Maybe she could even use a shield like Morga … if she survives.

Anyway. Hmm. Definitely a bad day when it’s down to the two squishiest PCs. And as much as I want to heal Morga, there’s no point—with the sinspawn right next to her, it’ll just reactive strike anything she tries to do and send her back to dying. I’ll think about this and post later.

Seaweed Leshy Technomancer 1 / Game Master 3 | Maps: (SRD Handouts) | (SRD Maps) | (DoF Handouts) | (DoF Maps) | (DA Maps)

Yes, its a nice bit of flexibility for casters in this edition. Its especially nice for spellblades and clerics that were otherwise needing to juggle things between hands. As a veteran of older editions though, I can't help but feel it was a loss of a bit of gameplay flavor.

Didn't Autumn and Vildran use all their spells/slots as well? It may be prudent to try to rest. Out of character, we fought the Cynthigot and now two sinspawn in the same cycle. And some cultists as well I suppose.

Should we bring something to the boggards to show we eliminated the "long tongue" creatures? A claw or something not overly gruesome.
