Here we go! I hope this is sufficient!

  • Kusano is a human magus, runelord scholar. He is intended to be the Arcana reference for the group, but has good damage dealing capability. He also has some minor skill in healing, so he can be a backup healer for the group, if needed.

  • Again! Kusano’s father was strict with training. Hesitation will cost you or worse, your charge, their life. Some day, you will be called upon to serve the Kaijitsu family and when that day comes, you will be ready.

It was his 8th birthday, that day. He remembered it like it was yesterday, for that was the day his father left with Ameiko North to Brinewall Castle and never returned. From that day forward, Kusano dedicated himself to becoming stronger. Not satisfied with his skill at fighting, he learned all he could about the arcane workings of wizards and how to meld them seamlessly with his own skill at unarmed combat. Study was his solace, and his mother spent much of her time managing the Glassworks after Ameiko’s father died, allowing Kusano the freedom to do so. Their friends, all glassworkers that had served under Lonjiku, some that had apprenticed to the Kaijitsu patron, did the work and Kusano’s mother handled the finances and sales.

By this time, ancient Thassilon was rediscovered and knowledge of the archwizards fostered a new age of arcane learning and young Kusano was fascinated by them and their fall from grace…

  • My PF2e experience is relatively new. I dove in with PFS and am currently running my first PFS Scenario and a home game based loosely around the Jade Regent AP converted to PF2e. I have been playing PbP on these messageboards for over 10 years, so am fairly comfortable in this setting.

  • Post 1

  • Post 2

  • I am willing to try my best to post at least once per day, but acknowledge that my weekend posts may be very concise and if I go on vacation will work with another player to bot me while I am gone.

  • The first game that I ran when I moved back from Oahu to Kauai was Rise of the Runelords. It has a special place in my heart and hope that I can earn a place in this game.

Plenty of people are still in Outpost games and PaizoCon Online is coming up. That might have something to do with it. I haven't applied yet, cause of the number of games I'm in.

Technical basics Elf (?), Runelord Scholar, Wizard
Role Ranged blaster, support, problem solver.

NOTE Still need to buy gear, but this can easily happen before May 1

Two’ish paragraphs:

Vildran Aistellmar does not quite look like most elves. Certainly his manner is deliberate, sharp, and precise. Though when he speaks he is somewhat more understated than most. He’s also suspicious of others’ “fun,” and has a hard time of that when it comes so easily to others. In fact he can be aloof at times and his focus is hard to break.

He is used to being anyone’s burden. The problem wasn’t just being an orphan. The problem was not quite looking like other elves. It wasn’t unusual for someone to ask for his ancestry, even being raised amongst elves in Kyonin. Thankfully he showed enough talent to be shipped off to the Arcanamirium.

He found two subjects of interest at the Arcanamirium: the ancient Thassilonian rune magic and the possible heritages of elves and the strange places that may have come from. He wondered… The more he tried to discuss his origin with professors, the more afraid they seemed about the possible answer.

After a time, they assigned him to take time away from the lecture halls and take up as Scholar in Residency abroad, to focus on the Runelords and rune magic in the lands they had most recently appeared.

Vildran has found Sandpoint to be a pleasant place to disappear this past year. He trades muddling in the back of classrooms with long hikes in the countryside around town, tentative approaches of the Old Light, and short interviews with locals who knew the great heroes to any degree. He doesn’t expect to simply stumble upon ancient magic ruins suddenly, but he also doesn’t expect to be let back to the proper school any time soon. Instead of troubling colleagues who are disturbed by his suggestions that he might be descended from (or partly?) lashunta, he resides in a town where some express concern that he’s going to disturb yet another long-resting curse or trouble beyond the Runelords. While he has that in common with the Runewatchers, they’ve yet to fully accept him.

Your degree of experience with PF2E Have played PF2 since the playtest.

and PbP:
Lots of PFS (1e and 2e) and SFS play. Fortunate to participate in several Adventure Paths (Dead Suns, Live Free or Die, Devastation Ark, Rise of the Runelords, Ruins of Azlant, Strange Aeons), Fall of Plaguestone, multiplied failed attempts at Kingmaker (lol), a homebrew Eberron conversion, and a homebrew Dark Sun conversion and some others. I GM one game at a time (currently 2e Arclord’s Abode for Outpost).

In short, after many years (AD&D2e) away from the hobby PbP gave it new life for me.

Gameplay posts Post 1 (Arfsnarf Ah’sneeze, PFS), Post 2 (Jevar Shadowmantle, Strange Aeons 2e conversion)

Do you agree to keep up with the minimum 1 post per day described above, and acknowledge that if you can't maintain that you'll be replaced? Yes

Anything else I should know about you or your character? I’m hoping some way to reveal a concrete tie to the lashunta ancestry can be revealed and worked in at some point.

Hey there PaleDim! Good to see a familiar face here!

Oh yes, you might recognize some of the games referenced in "PbP experience" :)

About Autumn Forfallan:
Synopsis: Self-interested grifter searches for changeling mother; finds unexpected home in Sandpoint.
Basics: Versatile Human Sorcerer (Hag bloodline) w/ Scarnetti-Connected background. (Details under this profile.)
Role: Face; Occult Magic

RP Sample: With a wry smile and a knowing look, as if she were a fashion designer for the Taldan elite, Autumn nods approvingly as Cyrdak Drokkus models his new clothes from the stage. So fetch.” With practiced ease, the stylish sorceress shifts from flattering the man’s vanity—not much effort required there—to coaxing an opportunity for her benefactor. “But those benches are heinous,” she tut-tuts with both sympathy and distaste. “Don’t fret—I heard Ibor’s received a supply of choice darkwood,” she suggests helpfully in a coy voice. Indeed, updating the Sandpoint Theater with wood from the Scarnetti-owned Lumber Mill would be helpful to both her and her patron.

Autumn is still unsure about her lot with the Scarnettis, but it’s not as if she has a choice—they’re the only link she has to her mother, however tenuous that might be, and possibly to her unknown father too. It’s been a few long years since her mother mysteriously left—a few years since her happiest memories, drifting from village to village, scamming a life together with her best friend. But you can’t pull the same cons when you’re stuck in one town, unable to cut and run, so she’s cobbled together an ostensibly semi-respectable living for now. Unexpectedly, Sandpoint has grown on her—she’s never stayed in one place for so long, and now she can’t bear the thought of a day without one of Alma Avertin’s pastries, or chatting with Lanalee Magravi about their sorcerous origins. But how strong are these new roots for someone who misses the adventurous life of a grifter?

About Me:
PF2e & PbP: I’ve been playing PF1e via PbP consistently since 2012, but mostly at another site with a slower pace. I’ve been on the Paizo boards for about a year. And I just started playing PF2e about a month ago. I like to think I’m good with the basic rules, but please be patient with me if I do something wrong.

Posts: The posts I’m most proud of are on the other site, but they’re also for slower games where we have more time to craft longer and richer posts, which won’t be representative of my work/style here. Here are two from this site:
post 1
post 2
I'm not sure that they're my best, but I certainly enjoyed writing them!

Post Rate: I totally agree that a consistent post rate is essential to keep a game alive. Outside of planned absences (which I will always announce in advance, and provide botting instructions), I will maintain a minimum 1/day posting rate, and should I fail, I should be replaced. As a heads-up, I will be on vacation May 5 – 16 and probably without internet access.

Miscellaneous: My time zone is MST. My default posting time will likely be late evening. Note that I certainly don’t expect Autumn’s mother to appear in this AP, but I’d love to be pleasantly surprised. (Or perhaps unpleasantly, if she’s turned into a hag.)

***Arcane Tattoos*** I would like to take this Uncommon feat for Autumn. The Arcane Tattoo (Shield cantrip) was a gift of protection for her 16th birthday--the last birthday gift from her mother. It provides a tangible representation for her mother, who is otherwise an abstract concept due to her absence. I can definitely make do without this feat, but I think it’d be nice to have for roleplay purposes, and it also provides a nice link to Thassilonian lore.

Dark Archive

Technically all you would need would be Varisian ethnicity to qualify for Arcane Tattoos, which should be pretty easy. :)

Tempting! If I’ve got the time and headspace today, I’ll see about working something up.

Basics
Ekbertur Folmavrost - Gnome Bard
Role: support, debuffing, (potentially) party face

Summarized Backstory
Ekbertur Folmavrost is a happy-go-lucky fellow, lifelong learner of tall tales, and a traveling performer by trade. After growing tired of his last surroundings, he relocated to Sandpoint to learn more about the famous bard, Ameiko Kaijitsu, and maybe earn a bit of coin by yarning with his vast repertoire of over-the-top stories.

Beyond storytelling and performing, Ekbertur is currently occupied in a balancing act of local politics. He has noticed that, ever since he took a meeting with Titus Scarnetti, it is harder to find stage time at Cracktooth’s Tavern and The Rusty Dragon, not to mention the Sandpoint Theater. Ekbertur is now focused on sweet talking Bethana, pleading to her that he isn’t actually associated with the Scarnetti’s; he only took that meeting as a newcomer.

(Details may change as I pore over the player’s guide tonight and tomorrow)

PF2E & PbP Experience
GM’d the Beginner Box for a couple of groups. I have played a few PFS scenarios via PbP and PbD, and recently joined a couple of APs over PbP.

Posting Frequency
I can commit to at least 1 post/day. If I routinely fail to keep up, I am good with being replaced.

Anything else
I’ll be working on a more detailed backstory this evening and tomorrow. Will added it to my profile. Along with a Pathbuilder link.

Thanks for considering my submission!

Glad to see a few folks sneaking in here at the end! As a reminder, I'll be closing recruitment at 9PM EST tomorrow (Wednesday).

@Autumn: Arcane Tattoos are perfectly fine and very apt for the region.

Can't wait!

I have the guts of the backstory and WIP mechanics on my profile. Not sure I’ll have time before the deadline to complete the backstory to my satisfaction.

Recruitment is now closed. Thanks all for your submissions! I'll be reviewing over the next couple of days and then provide the selected players on Friday.

^_^

Gah! I'm so nervous. I need my runelord research to be funded or I'll be stuck taking ooze samples in Oenopion. Do you know what's that like after burrito day?!?

Good luck everyone! Let the anxious waiting begin!

I didn't have the time to even have considered making a PC for this, and have been resigned to just Lurking -- and I too am Refreshing every hour or so, anxiously waiting for Gameplay to start.

Vildran sounds like he applied for grant funding for his research! Awesome!

LOL @ every hour or so

No pressure Cellion ;)

Thank you all for your patience. As is usual for recruitments, narrowing down the candidates to just a single party is tough, and extra tough with some spots already filled. The array of interesting characters you all brought to the table certainly didn't help either. After some hemming and hawing, I've decided to bring in four of you to join the two I'm bringing in from previous games.

Those four will be:
Sidonie Gavidan-Brishen - rdknight
Autumn Forfallan - Lepidopteran
Tao Lavinia Heron - rainzax
San Thevin - natloz

Come on over to Gameplay to dot in and then over to discussion to say hi.
---

For everyone else, thanks again for your submissions. I hope another GM sees the great potential candidates here and looks to recruit their own table.

Looks like a good party! Have fun y'all!

Thanks again for considering my submission. Hope y’all have a fun time!

Congratulations, everyone! I'm going to drown my sorrows now! XD
