Sorry about the slow posting. First part of my week went haywire.
* I believe removing the double damage on crits would completely throw off the "Tight Math" of PF2. You take more damage but have more HP in PF2. In addition, you get to hit harder as well. I find that in actual play the game becomes trying to get to that Critical. That's why the +1's and +2's matter so much more in PF2.
* I agree about the critical failure combat optional rule. It would punish players more than creatures who might not worry about prone or have weapons to drop. In my tabletop games we just have them lose their next action. Perhaps that is a better way to proceed here as well. Simpler and affects PC's and enemies equally.
* On the rare case that the critical miss has a different effect I would rule that that overrules my house rule. I just find it strange that critical misses have no consequences on "to hit" rolls but do almost everywhere else. In addition, this only applies if you roll a natural 1, not to a normal critical miss.
More to come... and don't forget to join the DISCORD Server per the above link.

I'll get the profile all setup tomorrow.
Lillanith is a Human with the Slyph versatile heritage and is an Air/Water Kineticist. I plan to build her as a mobile support/off-healer.
Telurion |
And this is Telurion.
Level 2 he will grab the Champion (Paladin) Dedication.
Still needs equipment and so forth.

Looks like we have some characters coming together... so perhaps it's time for me to come up with some questions about who you are, and what happened to bring you to the city of Raven. I'll come up with some basic questions, then explore them in more depth once the idea's come together.
I guess the first question is where do you originate? I think OSW has a basic idea of where, but we need to determine more details... like are there any surviving family members or friends...etc... Hopefully the basic questions I come up with will get us started down the path.
I understand many of you are not that familiar with the Lost Lands. (Its scope is immense) ... but if you can give a general description... I grew up in a coastal community near a large city with advanced technology, and my family have been farriers for ages. It gives us a starting point. The delay before we kick off this campaign can hopefully be used to really develop the characters and bring them to life before we kick off for good. In my experience working together as a party is important to both Pathfinder 2, and our immersion in the experience of the game as well, so having your characters more flushed out, will automatically, make the game more fun.
If you want to keep certain aspects of your background secret for now, then feel free to PM me and we'll keep it that way till you want to reveal more. Hopefully everybody won't be intent on keeping things secret... but if that's the case we'll deal with it.
Would you prefer me to make a Discord channel for each separate character that you can keep information in?
NOTE: I created a "Gameplay" thread so if you haven't feel free to "Dot and Delete" so the game shows up in your Current Campaigns page on the forums.

Is it possible to be a ratfolk??
Not a common race, but we can work out where your ratfolk might be from. Probably a big city like Castorhage.

I've got my profile basically done. I'll add some background things over the next day or so. I think she'd be from a coastal city, preferably one with cliffs. She'd currently be traveling, looking both for interesting things to do, and to help people.

Ratfolk
Almost as numerous as mongrelfolk, the ratfolk inhabit a similar place on the pecking order. For the citizenry’s part, they make little distinction between the two races, though the ratfolk of Castorhage seem largely to have originated in Jaati or other areas of far Libynos, and the source of the mongrelfolk remains a mystery to all. In any case, the two races get along well enough and are among the only ones that engage in any sort of social contact with the coprophagi. Like the rest of the city, the ratfolk harbour a special grudge for the disgusting night-slugs. Ratfolk are usually Invisibles.
This is from “The Blight” city of Castorhage has 161,000 ratfolk.

Feel free to use the following for inspiration on backgrounds. You can choose options from each and I'll help with the details... ie Metropolis... I'll give you options for the Metropolis. We can work together to eke out the details, perhaps through our preliminary adventures. If any of you are acquainted before the adventure begins, let's hash that out as well.
I'll also review the characters this weekend for accuracy.

Cool...let me make some rolls for the Deep Background!
Family Background (Large): 1d100 ⇒ 70 = 4 People in Family
Homeland: 1d20 ⇒ 4 = Trade Town
Major Childhood Event: 1d20 ⇒ 17 = Survived a Disaster
Influential Associate: 1d20 ⇒ 17 = The Relitive
Relationships: 1d12 ⇒ 7 = Magician
Challenging Relationships: 1d12 ⇒ 9 = Seeking Accolades

Both Telurion and Alorea have the same Raised by Belief Background, so perhaps...?
More than happy to have common backgrounds with anyone in the group!
Alorea |
Alorea was raised as a follower of the halfling god, Mick O'Delving. Not sure if Telurion would want to worship him instead of a human god! :)
Âdayil |
I don't find the family size chart granular enough given the different biological/cultural/social differences between say Conrasu and Orcs or Kholo and Iruxi.
As I've already made Adayil I'll just roll the childhood event for flavor.
Scranford: cliff notes - Adayil was the healer attached to a warband under sub-leader Uduksh, though the party's remit was never known to Adayil. Adayil's people lived in the wild hill country of the Old Tors region. There may be some link between her Death's Head tribe and the Black Monastery - though the Black Brotherhood made overtures to her tribes leaders over the years Adayil has no knowledge of when or what promises/compacts were made.
Somewhere in the Shadrack forest the group was waylaid and massacred by a larger Gnoll band. As most of the group were close relatives/cousins etc the massacre has had a profound effect on Adayil.
Happy to chat more over a discord channel. I know. I'm growing up. ;)
Âdayil |
I clearly didn’t look at the family size chart clearly enough. I guess you can map different brood sizes with Small/Medium/Large ranges…
Major Childhood Event: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Witnessed War You grew up against the backdrop of a major military conflict that affected much of your childhood world. Add the Battle Medicine skill feat to your background options.
Well. That tracks perfectly. Very nice.
Supreme Being |
The deep background was for inspiration. You can use it, but these are not additional benefits to standard character creation creation.
Supreme Being |
I’d like to get the characters firmed up by next weekend, then we can start the background adventures. I’ll be rebuilding your characters I Demi-plane to check for accuracy as they are completed.
* if you want access to all my Demiplane content download the free version, the PM me your email address and I’ll share with you.
* if you haven’t signed onto the Discord server yet the link is above. If you don’t intend to do so just let me know.
* can everyone provide me their general location and time zone?
Telurion |
Alorea was raised as a follower of the halfling god, Mick O'Delving. Not sure if Telurion would want to worship him instead of a human god! :)
Good point, maybe not :P
My Time zone is CET.

Yep, as I posted in the post above the one in which I rolled, I’d already fully created Adayil so the roll was just for flavor - I had already taken Battle Medicine. The fact that the rolled flavor fully matched the concept was pretty cool however.
As for Time Zone, I’m not sure how it equates to USA - I’m on the east coast Oz here, we call it AEST - Australian Eastern Standard Time. Though maybe it is AEDST - Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.
Supreme Being |
Then you’re getting ready for Sunday lunch, and were having Saturday dinner. ☺️
Lillanith |
I'm in U.S. EST. I'll have a background basic info up later today, and I'm more than willing to adjust and adapt to tie it into others.
Alorea |
I am in US EST as well. I'm going to be busy for the next few days but hopefully will have time to write up a short background by Wednesday.
Supreme Being |
Resubmitting link to Discord Channel for those who might be interested. This is where I plan on storing information, images, maps etc. If you aren't planning on joining this channel please let me know. :-)
BTW... I'm EST as well. Potentially hectic week, but I'll get stuff up as time allows. Village of Raven coming soon.
Supreme Being |
Hi all. Been a pretty crazy first of the week. Things should slow down after today, and I'll get up more lore. If we can finish the characters mechanics by the weekend, I'll begin the introductory individual adventures first of next week!!!
Lillanith... you are from a small village called Wavecross. This is a made-up town about a hour south of Tarry in the Fetid Sea. Feel free to make up any details about the town that you wish. The more you develop it, the more the chance I'll work it into the story. :-)
GM Lia and Daniel Stewart... Are you guys going to join the Discord Group? If not I need to rethink how I'm going to share things.
Supreme Being |
I guess we've got a good start on profiles for everyone but Daniel Stewarts. No hurry as we don't start the real campaign till 4/1, but I can begin the "Pre-adventure" posts next week. Choices for how to post the pre-adventures...
* Post publicly here in the gameplay tab so everyone can read.
* Post in spoilers in the gameplay tab.
* Post in the PC sub-category in the Discord group.
The game will definitely take place here on the gameplay tab, but things like quests, loot, NPC's, etc. are much easier to track on discord, so we don't have to keep track manually. If someone would prefer to keep a linked google doc or something feel free, but I'll be putting on discord anyway.
Lillanith |
I'm fine with doing the pre-adventures publically on the gameplay tab. It lets everyone see everything, and maybe come up with ways the stores might merge and we meet before April.
Supreme Being |
So this week I'll take everyone's character. Check them for accuracy, and do an introduction post. Five days five characters...
Supreme Being |
Adayil
I put a pdf copy of your character sheet as well as a link to the Pathbuilder sheet. Not sure if you can open it or not, but the pdf should help. Your profile is very complete!!! I did have a couple of minor questions, which I posted under your text channel in Discord. I'll get you started either tonight, or early tomorrow. Been a busy day.

Telurion
Need a little more input to do your intro... See your tab on discord.

I promise to get everybody else going soon. This week took a turn for crazy, but should have some time to get things going.

Happy for you to start with the others, just keep Labels on each story as in

….or similar.

Ready to build your character in Pathbuilder to check for accuracy. Please check your character tab in Discord for some questions.
As far as your backstory, there is a Halfling owned Meadery in town, bees and all. If you'd like to work this into your background you may. You could either be a family member who has been away learning about Mick O'Delving, or a travelling priest sent here to check on this family, and perhaps negotiate a mead contract for the church. Or find a way to increase their donations.
Or feel free to come up with something on your own.
Supreme Being |
****Lillanith****
Your character sheet is mostly finished. I made a post in your PC channel in Discord. Once you get these questions answered, and your alias updated we'll be ready to start your journey.
I have a village picked out for you to be from, and will start your journey to Raven in the near future.
