Welcome to this PaizoCon online game.
Before we start, can you all do the following:
- Register on the RPG Chronicles sign-up linked above.
- Upload a mini picture on the slides
- Enter your perception and initiative modifiers on the slides
The game runs from May 26 to July 10. This is a bit tight for a PbP game, so I'm hoping to keep the game going at a good pace. Because of this, I intend to bot (or ask players to bot) when I haven't received a response for 24 hours. Please let me know if that is ok.
Also, it can happen that you expect to be away for a longer period of time. If that is the case, can you let us know and post botting instructions?

Looks like we're all here. I'm trying to see if I can convince anyone to join as fourth player, otherwise I'd have to ask you to pick a pregen to bring along (or go hard-mode, if you prefer that)

That post suggests it is combat heavy and isn't hard in the way of diplomacy/skill checks. If so I'd go technomancer for more fire power.

It wasn't meant to suggest that, I'm just echoing the Starfinder Guide that allows a three-player playthrough, but warns it might be harder. I'll leave it up to you to decide if you want to go the three-player route, or if you want to select a pre-gen to add.
You might just want to consider if there is any type of skillset that isn't covered between the three of you. Let me know what you decide upon.

Dotting in...
Hi, team! I'm your non-magical 4th player for this romp through the Pact Worlds.
I'll post an introduction for Saar (level 10 prototype weapon mechanic) shortly and set up his character sheet.
Here's to the game!

DM Kludde |

Welcome Saar! That makes four, so no more need for a pre-gen. With a level 10, we're stil in high tier (with 4-player adjustments), so no changes there.

I have a starship upgrade if we're interested -- Broad Arc. Description below.
I thought we could apply it to the port side heavy laser net to give us point defense on forward/port/aft arcs. Since the point weapon is +12, the -3 penalty shouldn't hurt much.
----------------------------
Broad Arc Upgrade (Starship Boon): You have acquired the technical blueprints to modify one of the weapons onboard your ship to incorporate a broader arc.
Benefit: When this boon is slotted, select one weapon onboard your starship. This weapon gains the broad arc weapon special property (Starfinder Core Rulebook 304) if it did not already possess this property.
This weapon takes a -3 penalty to fire in adjacent arcs rather than the standard -2 due to the nature of this modification.
If the modified weapon already has the broad arc weapon special property, then reduce the penalty to firing in adjacent arcs by 1. This boon can be used to improve weapons gained as a result of other starship boons.

A quick comment on how I like to do starship combat: I usually process the combat from piloting phase to piloting phase. I ask everybody to act at the system time (following the 'I'll puzzle it together' method).
So for the start of combat, we'd have the engineering phase and the piloting phase, then we'll have a full round with gunnery, engineering, piloting, and so on. I realize this requires the players to speculate a bit on what will happen during a round, but it is one of the fastest ways to run starship combat without leaving anyone waiting for too long of a time.

This is paizocon, which comes with an end-of-game raffle system. I need to report winners before June 20, so can you all please make an unmodified d20 roll here in this discussion thread. If you get a 19 or 20, you win a prize. In that case, please pm me the email linked to your paizo account.
GM price: 1d20 ⇒ 8

I hope this starship combat resolution makes sense to all of you. Let me know if anything is confusing.

My gunnery check is an 11, anyone with a full bab or ranks in piloting has every level has a 14 up to a 17 if they maxed dex at 18, updgraded it and then bought the +4 upgrade. I'm not a full bab character with no ranks in piloting, therefore I suck at gunnery.

Even though you're +11, the ship gave you +5. That made an 85% hit chance on the platform and 60% on the drones.
You're a better gunner than you think... :)

DM Kludde |

@Saar: could you enter your PFS details on the RPG Chronicles, please?

I should give the drow translator to Zoey...
