So, the basic story is that once every hundred years a ghostly coachman rises from his unknown grave to travel the roads collecting souls in his black carriage. Of course, most people think this is just a myth or story to scare little kids. On the night of your village's harvest festival, the carriage passes through, stealing the souls of most of the villagers. As the most experienced/trusted villagers, you are begged to rescue the stolen souls.

I know right?! It just came to him while he was in the shower! I thought it was pretty cool too.
We were thinking and talking about character ideas, and thought I could be like the Vicar (Cleric) of the Village. I thought maybe this time I'd try to play a more petite character, who's not quite so....dominant? I'm gonna go for sweet and demure. Lol
We just have to figure out if we're husband and wife, wife and wife...or whatever. I just don't think I play a very good male character.

Wellll....not exactly demure, but you know what I mean right? It's kind of a stretch for me personality wise, but I thought it would be fun to try and switch roles?
Does any of that make sense?
Of course, that makes sense to me. I'll need help with mine as usual, and still have to figure out race. If I'm going to be the more petite one, and not an Amazonian ass kicker, I'll need to pick a race that reflects the right body type.

So, coming up with a name has been really difficult for this character, and I need some help. Halflings use simple names, usually only 2 or 3 syllables, and it either ends in a vowel or s sound. Plus since I don't know my married name, that makes it hard too.
I wanted something that would kind of go with her looks overall, as well as her personality. So, I'm going to list the names I found that seemed okay. I would like for you both to pick 3 names you like the most, and then we can pick the one that fits the best.
These are only in alphabetical order as I really have no favorites. I just really really need help picking one.
Okay, here we go.

Emma is the name that both of you like, so I'll go with that as a first name. I have so much trouble with picking a name, sometimes that's the hardest part for me so thanks for helping with that decision.
I love Shadow for the wolf, but your name....that's tougher. I definitely like Aiden and Dane as well, but when I say our names together, "Aiden and Emma",or "Dane and Emma", I think I like how Aiden and Emma sound together the most. Something about how the vowels sound together. :o)

A hunter is a mix of druid and ranger, so he gets spells and an animal companion early. He can emulate aspects of animals and his animal companion will have more utility, but the trade-off is less focus on combat (no favored stuff, lower BAB, less feats). A hunter can be more strategic in that regard.

Sounds cool, can't wait to see how this all plays out. How are we gonna do our background story? Is it gonna be like, one background for the both of us, like a cooperative collaboration, or are we each going to tell our own story? I was just wondering how it would work in this instance.
I suppose it can be individual up until a couple years ago at which point it becomes joint/collaborative.

Kinda like just a brief, not "How I Met Your Mother" synopsis of our lives (parents, siblings, interests blah blah), until we met, got married, and how we ended up in the sleepy little village of blank?
Oh, we pretty much got my character done except for equipment and the fluff.
Once you come up with our last name and stuff, I can finish my profile and stuff, cuz I need the last name for Emma.
I think I'm getting tired. Lol

The ward part is the truly unique thing. Being able to link to the types of places that often draw a guardian spirit.

I'm thinking maybe something like Northwood (like Aiden is actually the son of a druid, and that's sort of how last names in that era came about "whatever of the North Wood" would become "Whatever Northwood")

Yeah, I like the name. Cool story behind it too. I think it sounds good with the names. Aiden' and Emma Northwood. Say it to yourself and see how they sound together. That's what I do when trying to figure out a last name.
Henry said he was thinking of the setting being around the 1500 to 1600 if I'm remembering correctly. He said that family names are starting to appear, but I really like how you made your name a part of your background.
I'm gonna have to think of a Maiden name for Emma for her background story. I'll work on it today after I get some more rest. I've been up and down a lot. The heat and my body keep waking me up.

I have an idea for our "how we met and fell in love" story.
What if Aiden's family moved to the village my family lived in? Of course as kids it would have been like, "Ewww...boys are gross" for Emma, and "Girls are icky" for Aiden, but as time passed and we grew and got to know each other, feelings started developing.
What made us realize our true feelings for each other though, was during one of the hunting trips. I went along on the hunt with the village Cleric to assist and learn how to heal during battle.
Aiden of course had accompanied the hunting party with his father since he was of age to join the hunt.
They had been tracking a group of wild boar, when one broke through the brush and was barreling straight for Emma. Before the tusked beast could reach her, Aiden came out of nowhere and leapt in front of Emma, thrusting his spear through the neck of the boar, stopping it in its tracks, and killing it instantly.
As their eyes met, Emma's chest heaving from the fright nearly being killed by a boar, a new awareness of the young man in front if her came upon her mind, and Emma knew without a doubt that she loved him.
What do you think? Feel free to add to, or change things. It just popped into my mind.

If you have your own ideas or anything, that's cool. It's just a rough idea.
I also need to know how old Aiden is when we start the game. Halflings age differently than humans, and we've been married for 2 years....are we still living in the same village that we grew up in, or did we move?
Just trying to nail down some details.

You could tell your part of the story, like about your family. If you have siblings and stuff like that, and then give your view of events that led up to us becoming involved, and the boar attack that cinched it for you. That way the story is told from 2 different perspectives. :o)
