So far, I imagine Edwin as the oldest brother who is exasperated with the young'uns--K, Jack, and Calliope. I like the way we all work together~
I will be sitting on the exp as well.
I'm going to get a post in by the evening. This week has been exhausting.

Calliope Marchette |

I'm betting Edwin's still dealing with moving stuff, but are K and Alexander still around?

Storyteller Shadow |

Ugh, finally about to dig out of catching up with moving and work. I will be posting up this weekend.

ST Talomyr |

Seems we have lost K and Alexander. I'm happy to continue with who we have or possibly recruit another one or two players.
What do you all think?

Calliope Marchette |

I would be happy to add another person if you think we'd benefit. I'm not familiar enough with VtM to gauge if three is workable in the long run. I like our current trio and would be happy to continue on with just us and happy to have other folks join the fold too :)

ST Talomyr |

As a storyteller, I've always thought that the World of Darkness games worked smoother with smaller groups. Proceeding with only 3 PCs wouldn't be a problem (Kudos to ST Shadow for dealing with some of the group sizes I've seen him deal with on here BTW).
I think we'll go forward with what we have for now, if we get to where we believe we could use a bit of new blood (pun intended) to the group, I'll petition the folks in Shadow's games to see if there is anyone interested (assuming Shadow is okay with that).

Yeah, those large groups bog down the game sometimes :-(
Of course, recruit away!

Calliope Marchette |

I'm totally down for a smaller group, then! I like our people and really enjoy the dynamics so far.
As for posting, I will try to have something up before the evening today. I only have three weeks left coaching esports (our season is over at the end of the month, and it looks like we won't move on to compete in the regional tournaments...but it's our first year) and then my life is hopefully calming down.
Then, I can finally start my 2e Kingmaker game...

ST Talomyr |

You have a full table for that already I assume? If not, I'd be interested in throwing my hat in the ring. Haven't played 2e yet, but looks straight-forward enough.

I have about four confirmed players and two who are kinda iffy. If those two who aren't fully committed end up passing on it, I'll let you know - a table of 5 for an AP seems good. I can send you some details about what classes we have confirmed sometime today or tomorrow and see if there's anything that tickles your fancy.
They're all people I play with in my Age of Ashes campaign (and my husband)...we ended up finding another DM after Fern left the boards.
PF2e is pretty easy, I think. It's far less crunchy than PF1e, although I love both. I ran Plaguestone on the boards, and it went quite well. I'm looking forward to a full AP. :)

Calliope Marchette |

I hate it when I notice a spelling mistake days after I make a post and the editing window has closed. #EnglishTeacherProblems

Calliope Marchette |

I will get a post up this evening. I woke up at 4am due to tornado warnings here in Ohio, and yesterday I was ill. Thankfully, no tornadoes touched down in my area.

Calliope Marchette |

I'm fine with that if you would like. Likewise, I'm fine with proceeding with parallel paths.
I'm down with parallel paths! Then that keeps anyone from having to be too quiet for too long. With only the three of us and all. :)

Calliope Marchette |

My "attendance" here might be a little spotty for the next couple of days. I am dealing with yet another super fun medical issue, and it's taking a lot out of me.

Calliope Marchette |

I have a kidney infection, which sucks...but it's responding very well to antibiotics. I'm back now. :) Writing a post shortly.
Oops, guess there's nothing for me to write yet. but I'm around and paying attention now.

Storyteller Shadow |

Can we come out of spoilers now that we're all together?
Also, feel free to recruit in the Venice thread, not sure if I saw any post there yet.
Finally, will K and Alexander still be NPCs or just fade away?

ST Talomyr |

For current night, yes come out of spoilers. Keep the previous night still in.
Alexander and K will still be NPCs for now.

Chalk some of Calliope's ignorance on the Lasombra up to my own ignorance too, lol. Catching up with a lot of the lore of VtM is a little daunting, but I'm trying!
What? It's mot like there's 30 years worth of metaplot and lore to catch up on or anything like that. ;)
On a more serious note, don't feel like you have to unless you want to. Your character is a neonate, so Calliope wouldn't necessarily know everything about the different Clans, particularly the ones from outside the Camarilla bubble.

Calliope Marchette |

Hahaha, well, if you know of any good rundown articles or YouTube videos, let me know. I can search on my own but if you have recs, I'm down.

Go onto YouTube and look up "Lore by Night". Good series of videos on the lore of V:tM.
If podcasts are more your thing, there's the 25 years of Vampire: the Masquerade podcast, but those are more dives into the individual books from the line.

Storyteller Shadow |

I don't know V5 very well, but what I do know I don't like very much. I would not adopt this system or the meta plot on my home table. Talomyr though could run anything and I'd be willing to give it a try. Probably the best player I've had in a PBP game! Consistency, longevity, quality!
This sounds like an ad for Talomyr, LOL

ST Talomyr |

Shadow, thank you for the compliment. The check is on its way ;)
I'm consistent with Lorenzo anyway. Marcus leaves something to be desired.
When it comes to V5 vs previous editions it's definitely old school lore and metaplot all the way.
The game mechanics could get wonky from time to time, but as long as you weren't doing a lot of combat the system worked great.
Two things from V5 that I think I like mechanically more than the old editions is the hunger system and how willpower works.
When I first looked at thd hunger system in general, I was quite resistant. Once I started using it I liked how it added a layer of uncertainty to the relationship with the "beast".
Willpower giving you the opportunity to reroll up to 3 dice rather than just an automatic success makes a bit more sense to me too. Sometimes no matter how much you want to will something to happen, it just doesn't work.

Calliope Marchette |

I have zero experience with old versions, but the system is easy to pick up for a super newbie like me. I've played some of the VtM video games on Playstation, but... lol. As for ttrpgs, I've only really played Pathfinder (1e/2e) and 5e d&d.
Talomyr, I'm enjoying this too. I've liked playing alongside you and like this as well. Thanks for thinking of me when you were putting it all together. Glad my life has stabilized enough to commit to these again.
I'll check out the videos! Thank you for the recs. I am a podcast person. I pop them on when I'm awake 3 hours before everyone else on the weekend. Dang teacher sleep schedule gets me up at 5:30am whether I like it or not.

Calliope Marchette |

I will post at some point today. Tornadoes ripped through Ohio last night, and I was up late camped in my basement. Work as per usual though...
Luckily, we missed the worst of the tornadoes, but a 1/4 mile wide one hit a couple of miles away from me.

Thank god for that! Terrible for the people they do hit though.

Calliope Marchette |

Yes - unfortunately, north of me is experiencing a "mass casualty event" - over by the lakes. :( Several cities around me got hit, too. One touched down where I worked, but only messed a little bit with the road. It's been quite the day.

Storyteller Shadow |

ST, I'll respond to the previous night post for Edwin tomorrow, getting tired and wanted to get a big post up for the Venice game before I went to bed.

Calliope Marchette |

Sorry for my quiet - between the eclipse stuff, applying for grad school, and work starting again, I've been a little overwhelmed. I will post today.

ST Talomyr |

No worries. I'm always quiet over the weekends and Monday night didn't have it in me to post to any of my games.

Storyteller Shadow |

Weekends have traditionally been slow on the boards unless you have a DM with a daily posting requirement. I do many of my big posts on weekends as I am very busy during the week.

Calliope Marchette |

This program needs my resume to apply. So annoying! I haven't updated my resume since I got hired at the job I'm at now >_> (5 years)

Storyteller Shadow |

Glad I am done with those days. At the end I was a Grad school drop out, making my teenage self very proud! I decided after an MBA and a Law Degree, I just didn't need that Masters in Law. Turned out I was correct though I may have left significant money on the table, the work hours would have made my quality of life shit.

Calliope Marchette |

I have a Master of Education (I had a full ride scholarship for it, thanks childhood trauma finally being worth something), but I'm getting a Teaching of Writing Certificate so I can teach college credit plus classes (dual credit, whatever...), and my district is paying for my entire certificate, so I'm not even out any money on it. :)

Storyteller Shadow |

Yeah, when I was in the LLM program E&Y was going to "pay for it" but they changed the terms. You had to remain for 3 years past the semester in which they paid or you had to reimburse them for the tuition in full. On the one hand, I understand they don't want to pay for education for people who might up and leave but on the other hand 3 years is a long time! Between the work hours and that wrinkle I just didn't bother, plus the per credit cost was crazy on top of already existing loans.

Calliope Marchette |

Thankfully, it seems like few strings are attached to this. We are losing more and more kids every year to the local community college, so me getting certified in CCP gives me a lot more job security because it keeps students in our building. They can still get the college credit, and our enrollment doesn't go down, so we don't have to reduction-in-force anyone due to enrollment.
I am lucky in that I really enjoy my worksite, my coworkers, my admin, etc. It's not perfect - nothing is - but the bad isn't bad enough to drive me away. Plus, it's just not going to be different anywhere else... the education system needs a major overhaul in the United States!

With your subject, I wouldn't worry about the dual credit stuff as much, to be honest. Those composition classes are required for everyone whereas social studies aren't necessarily required for college. We are going to offer a CCP government course, but for the most part, English and Math are the most CCP heavy.
It can be a shitshow for sure, but don't feel too bleak or anything. :) If you hate your life at one job, switch districts. Different admin, different buildings, different coworkers can make such a huge difference. I have a lot of support in my building, so even when the kids are driving me nuts, I know my principals/superintendents have my back.

Hey! Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I've had the flu these past few weeks, and things have been a bit... rough. I'm still hopped up on Dayquil most days, and the really lucid moments have been few and far between, but I'm starting to feel a bit better now. I'll see what I can do to catch up, and I'm so sorry about my absence! I hope that you'll keep me on, but I understand if you can't!
