I am looking for two to three players to join two existing players in a semi-homebrewed Chicago by Night game.
The game originated as a V5 game, but in the interest of getting more players, I have made the decision to switch the game to V20.
Character creation is standard as per the Vampire: the Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition rulebook, with the exception of being granted 20 XP to start off to bring you up to par with the existing characters.
Politically, the existing characters currently sit on a fine line between the Camarilla and the Anarch Movement.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thanks!
EDIT: One other restriction - the Generation Background. I would like to limit characters to 10th generation as the lowest generation to start.

Not familiar with it, but I guess that is for the better.
I haven’t played VTM in a looong time, so my character creation fu will be rusty. Might just pick up my old character sheet and take it from there :)
"From a distance, Triel looks nothing more than a black speck with flowing hair, running across the roofs of the shanty side of town - her athletic frame does not let immediately across the strength it hides but seeing the easiness and speed with which she traverses the large expanse of buildings hints otherwise.
It’s been an interesting two years since first I saw her moving around at the Pit Stop amongst the “rabble” (the way she gets infuriated when the Brujah are treated by their nickname still makes me smile) – there is something unusual in that one – of course she is as fiery and has a temper like any other of her clan, after all it IS her heritage – but she seems to command… no, command is not the word… let’s just say she has managed, though on a very small scale to aggregate some of her clan mates around her and LISTEN. Now in my book that is something already massive for an Ancillae among Brujah…
Although I have seen her party like no other, she seems to walk among them with a purpose, actually listening to their sometimes never ending ranting about this or that oppressor, or the kindred society discrepancies, the abuse and concentration of power and all those matters all Brujah love so much – the difference seems to be that she actually listens and always seems to have something to say.
This attitude makes me worry more about her than the entire bunch of so called biker gang rebel wannabes out there…
I overheard a conversation she had a few months ago with two rambling disgraces that waded into the Biker’s Club – they were all hyped up about revolution, rebellion and burning things up – probably their sire gave them some task they were not too keen on, or some other biker just had a better vehicle than theirs… Anything will do for a Brujah I guess.
In any case no one would approach them since they seemed on the verge of frenzy but Triel did and sat down – definitely she is a beautiful, alluring woman by kine standards but this doesn’t work so well on kindred – in their case, either because they already knew her, or for whatever reason, they did slow down a bit and listened while she spoke about something Brujah are not specially fond of - using their rage in a constructive way – she seemed to advocate that it is possible to be free willed and rebel against the system by making yourself heard but still maintain a modicum of organization, and most of all (and that one sent shivers down my spine…) sticking TOGETHER – my, my, my, now THAT is crazy rambling… Brujahs doing team work without being constantly at each others throats, that’s a scary fantasy.
One of them did however listen to her and seemed to calm down, actually interested in what was being said. The other one showed all the Brujah in himself and just told her off with an amalgam of insults about being weak willed and conformist – that was when she spoke just a tad louder, even though it was clearly heard above the pub noise – I am sure there were vampiric disciplines involved but there it was, a unmistakable invitation to “step outside” spoken slowly but clearly and without doubts regarding the underlying menace – he saw also the Brujah in her at that moment and they did step outside. Only she came back in though, a sparkle in those green / brown eyes and the smile across the face was not enough for me to understand if they actually came to blows, neither am I interested.
Fact is, that day and some others showed me something that has piked my curiosity – this unusual Brujah seems to come up with a different speech regarding team work – I wonder if there is an actual agenda behind that or if it is simply is a cosmetic change on the usual Brujah way of seeing things. I have seen her rage and be as Brujah as can be, ripping traffic signs to beat someone with them – there are pet hatreds clearly and she gives in to her rage with abandon and pleasure… But I have seen her also facing fire to drag a ghoul out of a burning car or jump in front of a bullet to protect another wounded kindred and that makes others pause and look at her differently.
If she is honestly trying to accomplish something bigger, and indeed she defends this notion of ‘working together’, then she will certainly meet with a sad fate eventually – this is not a thing for Kindred to follow through and the lesson will be learned… the hard way I am sure. Even so, I admire the effort and the commitment – I haven’t seen this kind of mix between ideas and raw strength in a long time. The fact that her presence in the Elysium during the last year is getting more and more frequent seems to attest that there is something she wants to say, or follow through.
And now there she is in the distance, and I realize something else – the thrill of the challenge is there, of accomplishing harder, more dangerous tasks day in, and day in. Why else would she bother to accept, without hesitation, to be hired to stop a yakuza courier when she knows Kuei Jin are involved? I was there when the job was offered and I saw that sparkle and that smile again and immediately understood that she would do it – but more disturbing than that, all three that were sitting at the table with her immediately accepted to accompany her, and I know for a fact that those are not ghouls but free willed Kindred – they went because they wanted to – something was shared there, either same desire for action, or maybe…nah…. Comraderie?
Apologies for the crudely constructed prose, but this was waaaaay before PbP was even a thing :)

The game is linked in the first post.
The basic story pretty is a young coterie trying to make their own marks in the world. With a backdrop of a new Prince of Chicago seizing Praxis (Kevin Jackson) and the Camarilla as a whole becoming more hardline against the Anarchs.
A lot of this follows the "meta-plot" of V5. The Brujah and Gangrel have left the Camarilla (that's not to say that there are not still members of those two clans within the Ivory Tower, just those clans no longer have Justicars. Portions of the Banu Haquim/Assamite clan have joined the Camarilla, much to the chagrin of the Tremere, and the latest development that had all at the recent Elysium stunned. The probationary membership of the Amici Noctis (portion of Clan Lasombra).
Add to that contact with the Anarchs of Gary and a former Prince of Chicago and there's a bit going on.
I could go into more, but I don't want to give anything away for the players.
The remaining members of the group are a Toreador and a Tremere.
Restrictions: V20 books. Standard build + 20XP. No stronger than 10th generation. If you are looking to build something weird like a Blood Brother or a Salubri, your gonna need a good reason/story.

Ollivor Myles |

Okay, Ridge here. Here's my submission. I think I've got all the points placed out in the profile correctly
Everything should be in the profile, but I did put a point in a possible communal haven background in order to chip in with the Coterie if folks liked that. Otherwise I can turn it into a small domain or the like.
Summary: Ollie a 12th Gen Gangrel with anarch sympathies though he wouldn't call himself a member. A former K9 Unit cop who got 'killed' by fellow police when he tried to expose their corruption, now he's jaded and cynical (but has held onto a surprising amount of humanity despite that). He's not a native to Chicago and is either fresh off the boat/train or has been year less than a year as suits.
He has one ghoul, a German Shepherd with police training... named 'Buttons'.

ST Talomyr |

A Malkavian would be fine.
So far I have -
Existing Characters:
Toreador
Tremere
Submissions (Completed):
Gangrel
Malkavian
Submissions (Started/Theorized)
Lasombra
Brujah?
Unknown
Malkavian?
That being said, I do not have a problem at all of having multiple members of the same clan, so do not feel the need to base a submission around the clan of another submission or existing character.

Albion, The Eye |

After some thought, I am respectfully bowing out of the race - got invited to join another face to face game, while running two others. As much as the idea of playing a VTM game appeals to me, I should be decreasing the amount of games I am in, and not increasing :D
Wish you a great one, and see you around!

ST Talomyr |

ok, Savanna is mostly done, if you want to check; I still need to spend the 20XP.
Do we choose the name of our Sire? is the Sire in Chicago too?
You are welcome to choose the name of your Sire, or I can. Whether or not they still are in Chicago (or even still among the unliving) is up to you.

ST Talomyr |

My mom and I have Covid(or at least I *might*). I don't feel awful(no fever, still can smell and taste), but don't feel great either. Had a bit of chills earlier, but those seem to be gone.
I may not get a character done up by Mon. We'll see how I'm feeling later.
I've been in games with you before, if you can let me know by Sunday if you think you are going to get a submission made, I can likely extend that deadline.
Bringing new characters in will require a bit of one on one interaction with the new characters in the thread anyway, so maybe I'll do the acceptance in stages.

Looking over the character a little more closely, it appears that I may have mislead/you mistook what I was saying about Merits and Flaws. You may purchase up to 7 dots of each (i.e. not granted).
As currently constructed, you are 7 freebies over-spent, easy enough to remedy by taking flaws/spending XP to get to what you have.

Savanna Douglas |

Oh, I misunderstood that.
So If this time I understand well..
Buying a discipline with my Freebies point cost 7 FB
But If I buy it with my XP, getting from Dementation, my Clan discipline, from Level 1 to level cost 5XP (5Xp* current level)
So I have my 7 points to buy my Merits.
15 XP left
Get Brawl (3 Xp, new ability, and rise it to 2 (2+4 XP), total 9 XP (to help hunting)
Get Drive 1 (3Xp) and Intimidation 1 (3 Xp)
Is that right?

Hey there. This looks pretty interesting. I'd have to refamiliarize myself with some of the rules (haven't played since Vampire: The Requiem was the hot topic) but I'd love to throw something together.
I have an odd idea for a character creation concept. How would you feel about me making a human with stats and a backstory, and then letting you determine their sire based on which character is most likely to embrace them, and picking my clan stuff based on that?

Hey hey! Hope I'm not too late. This submission is for Joey Hart, a vampire who's greatest claim to fame is a small apartment building he's slowly turning into a haven-for-rent with a generous supply of blood.
I'm doing that thing where I leave the clan unspoken so you can slot it into your current NPCs and let me improvise, but if you're too short on time to co-op the character creation I've also got a clan suggestion below.
Let me know if there are any mistakes. I haven't made a VtM character in a loooong time.

Appearance:
Joey Hart is an unremarkable man with slightly scruffy, dusty blonde hair and a slightly overweight physique that hints at proper muscles buried under a decade of neglect. He is often seen with a band tee-shirt under a worn gray hoodie with well-worn blue jeans. He has the resting face of a sleep deprived businessman but often shifts to a pleasantly neutral expression in conversation.
Backstory
Joey always was the creative type. He dabbled in music, tried his hand at theatre, but ultimately found his passion in writing. Unfortunately, his aspirations were cut short thanks to the untimely death of his parents at the hands of a drunk driver who also died in the accident.
His folks didn’t leave much, but they did own a modest apartment complex that he had lived out of through most of his childhood. This bittersweet homecoming had him learning the trade of being a landlord, setting aside his personal projects for a crash course in home improvement and business management.
He did well enough, keeping the place functional and even making a modest living off of it, but the required time investment suffocated his social life and cut him off from furthering a creative career. After a while, his tenants were the only people he had time to interact with, and they were a mixed bag on the best of days.
Of course, owning a relatively secure property with easy access to mortal dwellings had its own merits, which Joey suspects wad the first thing that caught the interest of his sire. The embrace was quite a shock to Joey for all the usual reasons, as well as a few that were uniquely frustrating towards the failed writer. After all, he was sitting on an inspiration for what might have been his greatest story yet and the Masquerade demanded that he could do absolutely nothing with it.
Between the shock of the embrace and this denial, his already weakened muse hit a breaking point. Turning to focus on utilitarian things, Joey focused what he could: property management. Keep up the domain. Attract tenants, living and dead. Make friends. Curry favor. Allow the sire to act as the surrogate parent that he misses so much. Help out every neonate he can so they remember who helped them when they make it big. Once he’s got himself truly settled in, he can worry about making sense of this strange curse.
And he certainly will get to the bottom of it eventually. As much as he’s ashamed of admitting it, directly witnessing examples of strange mystical vampire stuff is beginning to rekindle his love the craft.
Toreador
Maybe his early writing earned him a fan in his sire...

You've made your submission in time, but I will not have time to look at it closely until this evening. I have read the background and am kicking around a couple of ideas for your sire/clan.

Running behind on a number of things today, but here are 3 of the selections. One more will be chosen later today or tomorrow.
Gangrel - Ollivor Myles (Ridge)
Malkavian - Dr. Matthew Baker (Silver Priest)
Malkavian - Savanna Douglas (Escharid Blackrose)
Please report to the discussion thread. Hopefully I'll get in game posts up for you later tonight or tomorrow.

She straddles the line between the Anarch Movement and the Camarilla, which makes her a good fit for this story, as that is exactly where the PCs find themselves in the current nights.

Oh cool. Sounds like an interesting idea. And Ventrue Landlord is a very classic kind of modern vampire. I wonder what kind of blood would fit his particular palette....
