Next fight will likely have colored borders for enemies to make this a bit easier.

Arrius Voralius Constantine |

This is the first more serious combat (realistic probability of player death), do you like it so far?
I try to increase the number of "fair" decisions to make for players, and I think Targis definitly got some mileage out of it.
It's good for me but it gave me a nasty flashback since one of the last PFS1 scenarios had a PC get coup de gras'ed.

Liliyashanina |

I was pretty happy I gave the Succubus deft maneuvers (yes, EITR also applies to enemies) for the disarm attempt, she would have actually failed otherwise.
But well yeah, these are intelligent enemies who want to kill you.
Being in something resembling a formation, which you are, certainly makes CDG attempts a lot more costly.

I forgot about EITR; I could've had Constantine using Power Attack although the way I'm rolling to hit maybe I shouldn't.
Btw Constantine took his turn over in the Gameplay thread.
Liliyashanina |

I typically just use the modifiers you did for your last attack, unless it is clearly suboptimal, for AoOs.

Liliyashanina |

Absolutely not, I also tend to roleplay extremely high CHA beings as genuinely fun to be around.

Liliyashanina |

@Targis by my count you can easily walk up to the pinned priest and righteously smack him with your halberd.
Its unlikely to kill him outright.

Liliyashanina |

You can totally ask the Lady a question. She did just namedrop your plotbeat :).

Quick Paladin chat:
When does a Paladin fall:
I strongly dislike the RAW version, as its overly harsh.
For me, fall worthy acts are:
--Willingly and knowingly evil. F.e. getting fooled by a hag into cannibalism does not make the Paladin fall, although his patron deities would request righteous vengeance for this deed in a high likelyhood.
--Greater and lesser evils count. A Paladin can associate with a reasonably evil entity and either a more evil entity, or an unreasonably evil entity. He needs to be careful of course, but you dont outright fall for that.
--Willing direct violations of his Paladin code, I am very happy that Arrius does not have Torag as a Patron. As is Mr. Drummer Boi.
If Arrius fails a will save vs frighten and runs, there will be some story consequences, presumably a fair bit of angsting on his part, but Iomedae, while sometimes being pretty harsh, does not throw her servants under the buss for a failed willsave.
--Also, if you are under a dominate person like effect, and do evil, it does not make you fall as long as you try everything in your power to resist it.

Whats on the bodies O great and wise GM?

Liliyashanina |

The manor is revealed, tell me where you search for extra loot. Loot post for the bodies is coming up.

Arrius Voralius Constantine |

I also agree on the even division of loot. In the case of something that everyone can use, like the Cloak of Protection +1, Ring of Protection +1, if we can't decide on which PC should have it, perhaps roll off? I just don't want items concentrated in 'first come, first grab' style.

Liliyashanina |

Personally, I go for "Imagine this was a CRPG, and everyone is your character, whom would you give this item to". Loot distribution while maintaining relatively fair overall wealth levels.
Rolling off is fine too, highest wins.
when I GM, I kind of hand loot out in phases, at low level, everyone should get some magic item, and once heroes are established, I often hand out quirkier items rather then the big 6, which most people buy or craft anyway.
Oh, feel free to PM me wishlists!

Sapphire Aurora |

Loot wise, I expect you to aim for a fair distribution. Currently there are 3 people who have equal rights to the ring of protection mechanically, and the cloak of resistance is likelwise useful to a number of people. The circlet of wisdom and the breastplate +1 are perhaps less useful to the party, although they are great finds for other parties. Let it be said that the loot in this module is rather plentifull.
Sorry GM, was playing my PC as I think she would act. She feels she did a lot of killing and so has the right to it.
BUT, If you feel that some evil/selfish actions on the part of PCs is out of bounds, for the sake of goodness and fair play.Happy to roll for it and then roll play the out come.

Liliyashanina |

It is unavoidable that someone gets the first ring of prot.
Oh, party vote if you want spoilered Abyssal slice of life of Belana the escort service Succubus.

She's comical! If I weren't playing a Paladin, I'd have my PC engage with her more than Constantine will.

There, role played it out :)

Sapphire Aurora |

She is ribbing him because he is good, she loves tempting him to the LE dark side.

Liliyashanina |

Ok team, you got hurt a bit, got some loot, made some "friends", of whom one is actually pretty trustworthy (and may or may not get a class level in bard).
The Succubus dropped a hint that someone in the area around he silken thread succesfully frustrated a CR 16ish Ulkreth Demon into buggering off in frustration, but she is a Succubus and uhm, extremely opportunistically, at best, attached to reality, although she conciously lies very little for one.

Sapphire Aurora |

Loot
1 Agile mwk breastplate [Take or has been taken]
1 Cloack of resistance +1 [Take or has been taken]
1 Brestplate +1 [Take or has been taken]
1 Headband of wisdom +2 [Taken Saph]
1 ring of protection +1 [Taken Yartak]
2 Scythes [leave]
1 Masterwork Scythe [leave]
2 Brestplates [Leave]
4 chain shirts [Leave]
4-2 Glaives (one claimed by Jürgen the sacrifice boy)[Leave 2]
A booklet titled "dealing with arrogant goatf%+!ers in the name of the swarm" [Leave]

Yartak "Woodensword" |

I would give the ring to Arrius since he has the lowest AC among the melees.
We also found some wands; Yartak took the Magic Missile one (I believe Saph can't use it, though I'm not sure if she wants it anyways)

Arrius Voralius Constantine |

Constantine will take the Wand of Bless Weapon since he can activate it. The ring could help anyone and I wouldn't begrudge our healer wearing it to help him stay up.
I'm considering swapping Constantine's lamellar (leather) for the agile breastplate but I don't like dropping his movement from 30' to 20'; what's everyone else's thoughts on the matter?

Arrius Voralius Constantine |

I will take 1 of the glaives as a backup weapon.
For money purposes maybe the MW scythe? Or do you prefer the reach of the glaive?

Targis of House Fal |

I prefer the reach! I'm specc'd into using polearms with my shield, in fact I took special care to find a non-reach polearm in the halberd to use my feats properly, but if reach is needed, I'd like a glaive :)

The question for me is: "The gargolye has DR10/Magic, does telekinetic projectile get through its DR?".
The bolded part:
You fling an object weighing up to 5 pounds at the target. You must succeed at a ranged attack (not a ranged touch attack) to hit your target; if you hit, you deal 1d6 points of bludgeoning damage to both the target and the object. The type of object thrown doesn’t change the damage type or any other properties of the attack, even if you throw a weapon or magic item in this way.
The bolded part is the complex thing.
However:
Spells, spell-like abilities, and energy attacks (even non-magical fire) ignore damage reduction.
And then there are the general FAQed DR rules:
Although the Bestiary definition of Damage Reduction (page 299) says "The creature takes normal damage from energy attacks (even nonmagical ones), spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities," that's actually just referring to damage that isn't specifically called out as being of a particular type, such as fire damage or piercing damage. In other words, DR doesn't protect against "typeless damage" from magical attacks. However, if a magical attack specifically mentions that it deals bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage, DR affects that damage normally, as if it were from a physical weapon. (Otherwise the magical attack might as well not have a damage type, as it would only interface with B/P/S damage in a very few corner cases, such as whether or not an ooze splits from that attack.)
So the question for me is, does the specific
sentence from telekinetic projectile The type of object thrown doesn’t change the damage type or any other properties of the attack, even if you throw a weapon or magic item in this way. Mean the the projectile is not magic, or just that it is essentially magic and bludgeoning and that its properties cant be altered further?
The fun part is that you could also use this to rapidly move unattened objects (I am houseruling that you can not telekinetic projectile somebody elses spell component pouch if he has it on his body, our casters would be justifiyably displeased if I pull this on them.), for example McGuffins, or some evil spellcasters recently greased and then dropped spell component pouch, or you could telekinetically smash on bottle of unattended alchemist fire into a barrel full of alchemist fires and enjoy the fireworks.
I would almost argue that the flexibility of being a budget mage hand makes it worthwhile, even though d6 rather then d3 damage dice typically isnt worth hitting normal AC rather then touch AC.

Liliyashanina |

As far as I see it, you definitly would get sneak attack on those spells that require attack rolls. Sneak attack on spells like f.e. Fireball requires 10 levels in arcane trickster, so no.
I am unsure if I use the common houserule that you only get sneak attack on the first hit on a creature if you scorching ray someone with 3 rays at the same time.
If other conditions needed for sneak attack (flatfooted target variations) apply.
However, flanking only applies to melee,
When making a melee attack, you get a +2 flanking bonus if your opponent is threatened by another enemy character or creature on its opposite border or opposite corner.
so unless you find ways to consistently impose flat footed, or cast it defensively and more like "Acid Slap", or "telekinetic knee kick" the enemy it would be hard to set this up. I ruled based on you trying to have been sneaky, that he was unaware of you and thus subject to sneak attack, for the turn in which it happened.

Sapphire Aurora |

Your right that you can't flank with a ranged attack [Ok there are ways but feat-enabled ones] I should have used pike arm as other have.
:( reach need reach.
Ok she is now running away.

Liliyashanina |

Do you have long arm on your spell list? The legendary item I have in mind for you can also end up fixing your reach problem. Yes, alchemist is a great spell list for legendary items.

Liliyashanina |

I overlooked that its my turn twice now, moving forward, are you ok with group initiatives?
Alternatively, the last player character that does an action in his initiative block could add an Gm youre up.

Or I'll just roll the dice for the monsters since I can't buy over a 10 these days...

I must confess that I am rather happy the gargyole failed its save vs Sahalas spell, his dice were pretty nuts.

I must confess that I am rather happy the gargyole failed its save vs Sahalas spell, his dice were pretty nuts.
That's why I offered to roll for them from now on. :P
Let's see....
Fake Monster Hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 81d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Fake Monster Hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 61d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Fake Monster Hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 141d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Fake Monster Hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 161d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Fake Monster Hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Arrius Voralius Constantine |

I would like Arrius to make all attack rolls against me from now on. Ideally in all the games I'm in :)
Just be warned when I GM my dice heat up. ;)

Sahala Love |

Hello everyone!
I'm going away for two weeks, and I'll be without internet at all. This is a yoga and meditation retreat with complete disconnection from the outside world. I will be in touch from May 15, I will start playing from about the 16th. I tried to reduce the number of games to a minimum (without starting to play new oneshots for some time), with such an eye that after returning I only needed to read a couple of hundred posts, and not around a thousand, as it could be with my usual 15+ games at the same time. So I think I'll switch back on quickly!
Don't lose me, I will definitely come back and continue playing!
PS Feel free to bot Sahala ;)
PPS Perhaps I will add in this and one another game that the last month at least (or two? time flies fast) I was not a very active player. I hope to reboot on retreat and then fix it after returning. Rested, cheerful, energetic, I will rush back to a roleplay! See you.

You have cleared 2 locations, the Nyserian manor and the Silken thread.
As a general reminder:
--The temple of Shelyn is a place where Inquisitors are rumored to be found
--The park has Kellid holdouts, reinforced by Orchestra mercenaries. This may be plot relevance for Yartak. An envoy from there is currently there.
--The last stand tavern has normal crusaders, probably.
--Topas solutions was noted as a Cultist hideout
--Tower of Estrod was noted as a Cultist hideout.
--You could hit one more location before being affected by exhaustion etc.

Arrius Voralius Constantine |

I leave it up to the casters. Constantine is down to 2 uses of Lay on Hands and 0 Smites.
