Not cleaning his armor he continues until the group reaches the temple. He addresses the others, "Please look for anything we can use like that sword case wrapped with cords. I must take the time to do what I can with what I have to cleanse this abomination."

Taking all three of his flasks of oil Constantine pours them over the mass of severed limbs. Once the pile is thoroughly soaked he lights one of his torches and ignites the blasphemous mass.

"I castigate thee foul fiends and pray to the Lady of Valor to strengthen our hands and hearts to destroy the filth infesting her holy place."

@GM: So that's what he did. I don't know if it would be considered "religious" but this is the best he can do to 'clean' the altar. He doesn't have the spell Consecrate or have the spell Bless in memory so he can't 'fix' the altar if it has been Desecrated per the spell. He also does not have holy water or else he would've sprinkled it on the altar after the fire had run its course.

The mace is going to be used as the 'door opener' but the GM was asking about the altar situation first.
