I believe it would affect the eidolon's Spell DCs (and Will saves, Int-Wis-Cha- checks, etc). It may use your DC, but conditions affecting just it could modify that for the eidolon as normal.

And as you agents have been going through quite a bit already in getting your bearings and starting to corral and monitor an unwieldy class of preteens, well that sounds pretty Heroic to me.
Kaz: for trying hard to bond with a fellow kobold (even if unsuccessfully), and finishing of fitfully frighting fey, grba a Hero Point.
Jinglemane: You're wrangling roars to keep students on point and your pointy bites to keep enemies wrangled have been quite effective. A Hero Point to you as well.
And a few more to go as the mission continues (timing these is a lot more complicated in PbP :p

Thanks for the Hero Point, GM! Does it come with a lollipop like Kit's healing?

Sadly the intangible spirit of heroism merely nourishes the soul, not the stomach :(

Both Bret and I will be gaming tonight. No responses until late!

![]() |

Clearly, lion centaurs are gifted out-of-phase communicators. That's Jinglemane's story, anyway.
GM, assuming that I can get to the pot, would Diverse Lore help me follow a recipe?

![]() |

It's good that Jinglemane does not know how faint his roars sound to the students. His feelings would be quite hurt... He is so very proud of that roar!

GM Zoomba |

A marginally preemptive (for me at least, for some of you it may be belated) happy 2023 to all of you!

Happy New Year to you too!

Looks like we are about to have an impromptu family holiday. So I may be away from posting until the weekend. Please bot me as required.

![]() |

Hey it is a crazy Wednesday for me. I have back to back storytimes at the library and so will not be pushing things forward.
I'll probably be able to check in at some point, but feel free to bot me.

![]() |

Ya sorry to be a mushroom feeling past its prime the last couple days. Been very busy and today is the first day back into work, mind melting...

GM Zoomba |

Well, hope you two are better enough for a surprising and potentially complicated turn of events! :)
And for door detective work let's grant Kit a Hero Point.

So if I understand the mechanics correctly, we can not ready an action to Communicate from Beyond because it takes two actions. We could delay, but we can’t ready.
Do you concur, GM Zoomba?

![]() |

@Eddie,
Do you have a Pathfinder t-shirt, messenger bag, or other item that counts as Vestments?
If so, you get a +1 on hero point rerolls which would make that recent Fort save a success.

GM Zoomba |

So if I understand the mechanics correctly, we can not ready an action to Communicate from Beyond because it takes two actions. We could delay, but we can’t ready.
Do you concur, GM Zoomba?
Correct.
Though with the in world semi-meta nature of ‘rounds’ I’m considering the three-Comminicate-together timing to need to be in the same set of turns. So despite going already in ‘Round 1’ and now about to go before Eddie in ‘Round 2’, if Kit wants to spend her next actions trying to Communicate then it could still be in the same ‘turn’ as Eddie’s success.
Does that make sense? PbP is a format with many benefits, but precise timing mechanics are not always one of them :p

![]() |

I think Eddie needs the healing and Tels isn’t in the room with the shield.
If all three are in the room and doing so wouldn’t cause a character death, feel free to cancel my stated actions and have me shout “Narven” (botting the roll) on my turn.
I would use a hero point on a failed attempt to communicate this.
Otherwise, I’m going to try and keep everyone alive through this.
Delay is the best way to deal with it. Delay until everything is in place or the monster is about to act. Have two sets of directions, Communicate from Beyond if things are in place and something else if things aren’t in place.
Although it can’t interrupt an action, it will give the full round worth of actions.

Looking through Eddie's available options, Eddie's musk thrall has an entangling aura that I believe would affect allies. Shocking grasp not so hot for something not made of metal. Maybe I'll just keep rotating the guidance around and likely continuing Diplomacy's.

GM Zoomba |

As you can probably guess, we are careening wildly towards the end of the scenario!
The VC and professor are of course there and talking to you right now as you regather your thoughts and reports (and the students are around too).
As Kit pointed out a few posts ago, the ‘learn combat techniques’ is the one bit of the class’ official homework assignment that hasn’t been checked off yet: you had plenty of combat around them but they couldn’t see any of it! If you’d like to show them you moves, a Strike, Spell attack, or Athletics check in front of the kids could demonstrate the right skills.

GM Zoomba |

Sorry for the posting break: was out of town and away from computer this weekend, and wasn't able to have as much time to get posts up on phone as I anticipated.

That's alright!

GM Zoomba |

And with that, you all having successfully survived and solved the most recent of the Dacilane Academy's Delightful Disaster (s)! Congratulations!!!
Chrocnicles can be found HERE. Please look them over and let me know if I messed anything up!

Looks great, thanks Zoomba!
If anyone is ever looking for a quirky mushroom druid please let me know.

Great group, great adventure, great GM!
Zoomba, we have got to do more GM trades in the future. This was awesome!

This'll be a milestone for me--160 Achievement Points!
My mirror-wielding Wishborn Poppet Thaumaturge--surely an entirely unique concept--can be a legal character.

![]() |

I'm sure you can make yours different from Jinglemane.
GM, have you reported this adventure yet?

![]() |

It has been reported.
The chronicle boon gives access to a rare feat taken in place of a class feat that allows you to step out of phase with reality for a round. Re-entry can be a problem.

I'm sure you can make yours different from Jinglemane.
I've had Clover mostly ready to go for a bit. That doesn't mean I can't make some tweaks, of course, but I won't change her just because a similar character build exists in Society. I'm sure it's hardly the first time.
And they're not really similar characters, anyway. I just thought it was funny that Jjnglemane is the first poppet I've seen in PFS and he's mechanically so familiar. Poppets are rare, and they're are so many implement choices. Same heritage too, though I might switch to Ghost Poppet. It's just unlikely.

Thanks, that looks good to me.
Nice feat. I think I'll probably take it for thematic reasons rather than anything else... at level 6.
It kind of goes with Slipp not being tied too heavily to the material world.
Thanks for the game everyone.

![]() |

So tell me what Clover is like!
Most of the poppets I have seen so far have been variants on creepy dolls, though I will be playing alongside a toy poppet this Wednesday that sounds much more cheery. I spent a lot of time with Bret discussing what I wanted to do with Jinglemane.
Fun fact: When we first discussing Jinglemane, he was a horse. But then we moved on to lion-centaurs because they have manes too, and the whole lion-hybrid thing led us to Kit being a geniekin and worshipping Ranginori.
Who is an awesome god because he's a lion!
I am really happy that Jinglemane's fluff (yes, I know the preferred term is flavor, but in Jinglemane's case, his flavor is literal fluff) matches his mechanics in a way that just works. I have had the points for a poppet for a while now, but I did not want to make another bard, and was looking for something else to create. The thaumaturge is kind of the melee bard that I have been wanting.
And there are so many awesome thaumaturge options!

I was going to go with sword and shield like she had in the picture, but then I settled on Thaumaturge for her clad, so a shield didn't really work. And then I realized she'll need armor. At that point I have to admit that I'm ignoring the equipment in the image, so I might as well swap to a Warhammer (I have a mild blood phobia; I'm intellectually aware that beating people with a hammer is still bloody, but I just have a bit of an aversion to blades).
I'm going with the default poppet flavor, which I think is actually somewhat unusual for poppet characters--where she started out as a mindless construct before awakening. She was created by a toy maker who used her for labor when the store was closed and as a kind of mascot fir his shop by day.
She theorizes that the affection she received from being a big cuddly toy who always had children in her lap for storytime contributed to her awakening, but nobody really knows, do they?
One night, some kind of creature burst into the shop and brutally killed her creator.
In response, she... well, continued doing what she had been told to do. She sat in the middle of the floor for an hour for storytime, stood by the door to wave to customers who never came, cleaned a shop nobody had entered, and reattached merchandise on shelves that were still full.
After a few raja she suddenly realized that this was pointless, and she'd really rather do something about that dangerous creature that was still an obvious threat to the children and the town. What was she doing eating her time in this?
The second realization, that she had suddenly started realizing things, thinking about them, expressing desires, and making decisions, can't later.
She never did confront the best that killed her creator--some Pathfinders eventually handled it. She knows that's not the main focus of what the Pathfinders do, but she still reasons she'll have more opportunities to help with problems like that traveling with the Society.

I do love the crusading Princess Doll picture. I think what you have described here is totally different from Jinglemane. Where in the world is Princess Clover from? Does she have the merchant background?
At least you'll have a good default portrait of your character, as it looks like the Princess Poppet from the book.
For Jinglemane, I literally had to draw him because where else was I going to find a suitable picture?

![]() |

Also there is a cute poppet avatar option at the bottom of page 55 of the avatars. I would say Absalom or Tian Xia.

I think our conversation in here is done if you want to close out this game, Zoomba!
