All good Tern, no stress my guy. I'm so as it stands you guys have successfully delivered Oreld and his merry men (and women) to the tavern, and you are now en route to the shrine. I'm going to say that Aelethea and Shi'ra stay behind to guard the civillians; haven't heard from AJM in a few days so I'm assuming that he's tied up with house things. Plus, there's quite a few non combatants there now, makes sense to leave someone behind to provide support

So is the plan we fire first and you try to calm the wolf (will probably rachet up his hostility level) or you try the spell and we fire as the Hob notices?

You guys are currently taking cover in the remains of the building to the south of the shrine, so the wolf is within range of Craig's calm animals. I figured that he is going to cast, then Val, Macharius and Thess simultaneously take their shots. Reknar, Moragul and Tern can act as well, my guess is that Tern might join the archers and throw a spell, Rek and Mor charge in to skewer that poor scout if she's still alive, or deal with the wolf if he makes his save?

Oh after this, it's gonna be like old school Oprah with ranged options when we loot hobgoblins "You get a ranged weapon, and YOU get a ranged weapon, and everybody gets a ranged weapon" flings arms in the air excitedly.

Next level will be another level of Bard - Versatile Performance + Performance (Oratory), and no one will be able to shut up 'sergeant Reknar' :P

So will still need to stick with Short Bow for now.

At level 3 we might see a Ranger or Fighter dip, and then yeah! ALL weapons baby!

If I ever end up using a weapon that isn't a trap I have erred badly.

I don't mean for Craig to hog the limelight too much but that animal domain is coming in handy earlier than I thought it might

Hey guys, long day at work today so sorry for the super delayed post. I take it the consensus is to enter the shrine? If so, who is the brave soul who wants to enter first? Not that bravery is required to open a door or anything, I just need a marching order for....DM stuff... no need to worry :D

Moragul has pretty good perception and dark vision

Craig uses a bow mostly so will probably position behind someone to shoot past them.

Thess and the others will probably have guard duty outside and be ready call alarm in case of another patrol.

Sounds like our druid is volunteering to be one of the front liners /first in?

Jusst so we know everything is kosher, I rolled perception vs stealth IRL before I made my post... not sure if that's a PbP taboo but it seemed the easiest way for me to get my head around how to write the scenario...if that's a no go I'm sorry guys, I'm happy to do the rolls openly in future if need be

Would prefer no rolls to be private myself. I have had bad experiences with it. Both someone taking advantage of it, and people crashing out suspecting someone of doing that.

A pretty good example of what other GM's I've been in games with have done is here (about halfway down)

The rolls are made under a spoiler, so people can look if they feel like it.

I am perfectly fine with private rolls for the DM. No issue at all for me.
Believe me when I say though, rolling ‘in the open’ can be liberating as a DM ;)

I'm unsure. Sometimes I like open rolls so I can curse the die roller with less attachment to any person ;) But it isn't a must

Thanks for the honest feedback guys, much appreciated. I'll take it on board for next time for sure! On a side note, I just got called to go out of town for 2-3 days for work, unsure how much internet access I'll have so forgive me if we have a pause. At least it's over Easter, gives everyone plenty of free time to enjoy the holiday!

Well, hopefully nothing terrible has happened to the DM. Whenever there is an abrupt and sudden silence I fear Truck-kun has claimed another one.

I sent a private message a day ago, no reply. I suppose we can give it another few days at least.

Well, it's been six more days. Should we see if we can find another GM, or let this wither on the vine?

Yeah we're coming up on a month since the GM's last post. I'd be cool with trying to find a new GM.

I would wish you the best of luck in finding a new DM - it was a pleasure to play with you. But I will drop off from this one.

There were some things hyping me about GM2H DMing style which I find will be hard to re-capture, and I also got busy with other games in the meantime, so I prefer to bow out.

Hopefully we will cross paths around the boards!
