So Hilary and I each have 3 glyphs. That means everyone gets to start with 2 hero points. She also has a campaign coin.
Let me know if there is anything you would like me to change or add to my header.
Jinglemane |
If I recall, you're not an RPG Chronicles GM, correct, Zoomba?
So... I guess it is time to sign in the old-fashioned way!
Character: Jinglemane
Org Play Number: 820-2009
Player: Hmm
Ancestry: Poppet
Background: Printer
Class: Mirror Thaumaturge
Level: 2
XP: 12
Faction: Grand Archive
Reputation: 12
Preferred Exploration Activity Scouting
Downtime:
Earn Income: Performance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Success 4 SP
Weird Stuff the GM should know:
Jinglemane has a very complete botting spoiler in case the player has real life happen.
He has all the main knowledge skills, plus Diverse Lore (think of it as a bardic lore variant.) With his mirror, he can teleport 15 feet. Oh and he has a weakness to fire!
Lacking a real bite attack, he 'bites' people by hitting them with a club covered in shark teeth.

I guess nobody wants a str 8 gnome labouring for them today.
Weird Stuff the GM should know:
Has darkvision.
On taking damage makes a flat check to slip into the first world and reduce the damage.
Kaz, Kobold Summoner |
I actually played a session I wasn't expecting to earlier today, so this character is now level 2.
If that change is disruptive, I can always stick with the Psychic.

Or the Psychic:

Jinglemane |
I've included a portrait in Jinglemane's header that contrasts his self-image with his actual appearance.
So at this point, we're only waiting for Ms. Blooddrive's character to find their way here, correct?
We're a really small group so far. Only Kit is standing head and shoulders above us.

Questions for the GM
1) Will you be using Doug H's Macro Sheet for secret rolls?
2) How do you intend to handle the Exploit Vulnerability class feature for Thaumaturges? I think that it would work better if Jinglemane just rolled it each combat, since I'm allowed to know if I succeeded in order to be able to apply a mortal weakness or personal antithesis to my attacks.
It does come with Dubious Knowledge baked right in.
If I rolled it myself, this is what it would look like:
Exploit Weakness (Esoteric Lore): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 Success!
+1 Lion’s Bite (Empowered Leiomano, Mortal Weakness): 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 = 27
Bludgeoning / Slashing damage that triggers Highest Weakness: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
Deadly: 1d10 ⇒ 2
If the creature has a weakness, I rummage through my esoterica and add something to my attack that triggers that weakness. If it does not have a weakness, I give it a special allergy to the spit found on shark teeth. In that case, add 3 to my damage above.
Does this work for you, GM?
GM Zoomba |

Yeah: the Thaumaturge with all of its dependent actions is a bit more complicated in PbP having played one myself, well aware
That way should work - if in play there comes any issues/problems with it we can readdress then.
As far as Secret checks, thank you for reminding me of that Macro tool: a much simpler form than me collecting them each time myself. If you could each fill out the MACRO sheet attached at the top of the campaign it would be appreciated.
Also reached out to Ms. Bloodcove to remind/tag that the table has been opened. We'll give them another day or so, and then get started!

I'm a huge fan of the macros sheet. I love secret checks, and while they do place an additional burden on the GM, it allows them to incorporate character knowledge seamlessly into the action, keeping game flow steady and smooth.
Qitarah al-Tabib of Sedeq |
This will be a helpful discussion though for preparing spells. Eddie is not a melee combatant, although they can put on the shield and tough it out in a pinch. Usually I'm either zorting from distance or healing (if I need to prepare one). I can also happily summon in a flanking yellow musk thrall to assist/speedbump. Post combat healing Eddie gives out goodberries and uses natural medicine.Once we are all here and have a mission briefing I can adjust spells and maybe get some scrolls. Its hard to spend gold as a caster at lvl 2.
So I think we should be alright with respect to healing. I have divine font for four healing spells plus healer’s kit and Battle Medicine.
Sounds like we only have the two melee people, Jinglemane and Zak. I’m taking Forbidding Ward and thinking about if I should take Guidance as well.
Think I am going to trade out Ray of Enfeeblement for Command. What chaperone wouldn’t want that spell?
If Eddie can take a summon, I think that would work well.
Kaz, Kobold Summoner |
Kaz knows heal as well. I don't think he's actually used a spell slot yet (though to be fair half his XP came from GMing so he hasn't been played that much) because I keep holding it in reserve in case that heal is needed.
Second level brings a second spell slot--and a jacket cleric in the party, too? He's suddenly spoiled.
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Eddie also has guidance, but I don't typically use that in combat, just for skill encounters. Combat is typically cantrip spam.
Sounds like I'll pick up a heal scroll for emergencies and keep a summon prepared instead. Now to try to find an appropriate lvl 1 spell for dealing with kids...

...healing font. How...
Jinglemane |
Because a healing font is like a warm, fluffy jacket!
Qitarah al-Tabib of Sedeq |
Hopefully we will not need it.
I’ve had other groups where there was almost no healing, that was an ‘interesting’ challenge.
This character is mostly about healing, almost no offense. Guess this will be a good test of if I need to pick up the Adapted Cantrip feat from the human side of her heritage.

"Electric Arc would be fitting for a cleric of Ranginori!" Jinglemane bounds around in excitement. "I could bite them, and you could zap them! Bite! Zap! Bite! Zap!"
Jinglemane |
Also, I thought the GM might like a picture of the Woodsedge Lodge in his slide deck!

Ok I updated Eddie with their Fistful of Flowers Chronicle. It didn't change anything other than a bigger pile of shinies in their pocket.
Browsing through the primal lvl 1 spells I prepared alarm instead of heal. Should be useful keeping tabs on those children and the restricted areas!

I really like the idea of putting an alarm on the door into the restricted area!
Only potential problem is any Pathfinder Agents there to do research. You will probably want to coordinate with someone there and give them the password.
I’m betting the password will be: Fun Guy!
GM Zoomba |
So Eddie: Grelta, Alec, and Hari don't seem to have taken to any of you. You're already-done-in-the-spoiler roll can apply, but feel free to mention which of those you'd like to make an impression on.
Jinglemane |
Did the rest of us hear Alec say, "Cooperate is one of your tenets", GM?
Or was that only Eddie?
GM Zoomba |
Just Eddie: this would have been while you(Jinglemane) was over chatting with Tels
GM Zoomba |
Also just to confirm: our table is solidly in the lower tier, with 14 Challenge Points

Just a heads up, I am going to be away from my computer from about midday today (so ~12noonEST 12/24) through Monday 12/26 afternoon. I'll irregularly be able to check in and could make some quick posts, but likely nothing especially complicated.
Enjoy the holidays! (or at least just enjoy a weekend.) And stay safe and warm: it be cold out there (in pretty much all of the States at least)
Jinglemane |

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!
Jinglemane |
If Hari had a chance to move back towards the library, did I?
Jinglemane |
Alright. Wherever you move Hari, I'm right next to her. Or wherever you move me to.
Jinglemane |
Jinglemane rolled his saves right before your post, GM, and used a Hero Point in the process.
Jinglemane |
"Anything Kit likes, I like too!" Then Jinglemane considers. "Except fire, because fire is scary!"
Thanks for running this for us!
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Its been a nice little time, enjoying the fast pace while I have the time on my hands over the holidays. Enjoying the RP as well, most of my pugs lately have not had all that much.
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Any suggestions for future gear purchases once I hit lvl 3? I don't really have any casters yet and upgrading a weapon that isn't likely to be used. I would like to get a staff but not sure I want to focus on going down the road of a staff of fire at lvl 3 or wait til 4th for a staff of heal.
Any good other maybe not combat, nonconsumables to pick up that are super useful and item level 3 or less?
Qitarah al-Tabib of Sedeq |

Pearly White Spindle Aeon stone to heal yourself.
Coyote Cloak to help your Survival skill.
I am also fond of scrolls of spells that are not commonly needed like Resist Energy or Waterwalking.
There is the Serene Mutagen that can give a bonus to Nature, but the drawback is pretty bad for combat and even at 3rd level (moderate) it only lasts for 10 minutes.
If you had an animal companion, I would have told you to check your chronicle sheets. There are a fair number that list the Animal Staff which would give you Magic Fang.
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Thanks. Hrm, that cloak screams Scratch.. I did look at Animal staff but ya, no AC.
I do try to get some of the emergency scrolls.
Qitarah al-Tabib of Sedeq |
I have the Cloak on one of my wizards and like it a lot. The wizard has Survival at Expert and plans to keep increasing it.
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Scratch rolls with survival and forager, mostly just an RP thing at this point but, fits his look as well.
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Its my goal to try to use as many RP flavored, and different spells on Eddie as possible.. while still being somewhat effective in combat.
Jinglemane |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Yeah, that is always the balance to be found. I am so happy that I found a weapon that allows Jinglemane to 'bite' people while still being mechanically sound.
Jinglemane |
Um, if Yellow went down, shouldn't Kit be up again too?
Kaz, Kobold Summoner |
I suspect it won't come up, but if an Eidolon is Stupefied does that affect their spell DC? It's not based on their own ability scores since they just use the Summoner's DC.
Obviously he'd still have to deal with the flat check, so it makes sense to just avoid it (also, his only offensive spell would do more harm than good since they're sharing allies' spaces); I have many action options.
