Chrysanthemum Gabbro |
Sorry forgot the will save
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Good thing I don't need that to keep hitting. Might be the reason I stop though. SP 22-23, 0 SP, 40/41 HP. +11 SP -> 11/55 SP, +1 EP for damage taken
That last smack makes Chrysanthemum's eyes cross (all three of them) and one of her legs buckles slightly. But she gathers herself again and lashes out once more, before taking a step backwards.
Entropic strike, get 'em, EAC: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 = 12 for Acid Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
"My friends, I do not wish to alarm you, but this creature is quite powerful and you might wish to prepare to flee very quickly." The formal words belie the stressed tone in Chrysanthemum's voice.
1 EP, +1 AC, 11/55 SP, 40/41 HP, 6 INT
DM Kludde |
Khubelu plays the chrysanthemum theme song. Chadrah adds further inspiration, then fire a shot wide.
Velorum scores a tiny hit, while Toknomonicon lays down cover fire, without coming close.
Chrysanthemum stays on the front line, facing off with the orange menace, but not being as lucky this time around.

Could somebody post an action for Rilynn, please?
Toknomonicon |
Botting Rilynn, who should still have 1-2 slots left for this.
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) + 3 = 11
Chadrah |
How hurt does it look at a glance? Chadrah might agree to run away and rest to try again if it looks like it will require a lot more damage to bring it down.

I've updated the map with a health bar
Rilynn fires off another volley of missiles, further weakening the monster.
Chrysanthemum still stands close, and take another hit from the orange danger.

Rilynn Rae |
Apologies.
Rilynn cannot believe the thing still lives. This is certainly the most hardy enemy she has ever faced, and she has hunted Ursaur on Castrovel with her father.
Though her supply of magical energies dwindle, she summons another volley of force bolts and sends them unerringly at the monster.
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 1) + 3 = 12
Down to my spell cache and charge spell, then I'm out of cheaters and will have to actually roll to-hit. Hopefully it dies soon.
Velorum Knight Errant |
Hopefully, we can get this things down.
Seeing the situation is getting desperate, Velorum goes for the sure hit.
Damage from Shooting Stars (per Magic Missile): 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) + 3 = 8
Toknomonicon |
"It's on the ropes! Keep up the pressure!" Tokno cries, cheering on his allies (get 'em) before taking another shot.
Inspiring static arc pistol + get 'em: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 = 25
Damage (E, nonlethal): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Khubelu |
Khubelu is out of friends to yell at, so yells at the monster some more.
Clever Feint: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 10 + (6) = 21 vs. 10 + Sense Motive bonus or 15 + 1-1/2 × CR
> success - target is flat-footed until end of my next turn
> failure - target is flat-footed against me until end of my next turn
Static Arc Pistol: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 vs. EAC
Electricity Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Chadrah |
Tactical Semi Auto: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24
Piercing: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Chadrah unloads her Semi Auto and calls back to her comrades with mindlink.
"If this doesn't drop right now, we gotta run."
And suddenly she gets an idea and throws her telepathic voice. "First Seeker! Are you here!? Can you hear me? We have the creature distracted! Come out if you can!"
Chrysanthemum Gabbro |
Chrysanthemum goes to one knee as she takes yet another massive hit. She shakes her head and launches herself at it to punch one more time.
-5 damage for Mitigate, -1 EP, 0/55 SP, 37/41 HP, +1 EP for damage
Entropic strike, get 'em: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 = 23 for Acid Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
At this point, I think we're committed to high tier instead of low, but I hope we finish this soon or Chrysanthemum is going to be a sad monkey.
DM Kludde |
Rilynn is almost out of juice as she fires off another volley of missiles. The familiar sound of magical bolt streaking through the air is echoed by Velorum.
Sensing an opening, Toknomonicon and Chadrah land solid hits, and a final entropic pummeling by Chrysanthemum send the creature crashing to the floor.
Combat over! Well done, everybody, that was a very scrappy fight...
Chadrah |
Chadrah sighs in relief.
"Chrys... I can try to patch you up in a bit, let's just make sure if Jadnura is here. I didn't hear him answer."
Chadra will take to listen through the door if possible, before opening and looking in side.
"First Seeker? Are you here?"
If there's nothing here she will do treat deadly wounds with her Medkit for whoever needs it but asks for AID from the others. She's a bioengineering lab technician, not a doctor!
Velorum Knight Errant |
I can contribute a little healing to whoever is the worst off.
I assume Chrysanthemum is the only one into HP damage, but he could potentially cast Mystic Cure on others as well if needed.
Mystic Cure on Chrysanthemum to bring them up in case we get into another fight: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 HP Healing
Chrysanthemum Gabbro |
As the creature collapses, Chrysanthemum does too. Breathing heavily, she smiles thanks up at the halfling. "I am most grateful, friend Velorum. That was rather more painful than I have experienced of late."
She kneels down and closes her eyes, allowing the accumulated stress of the past few minutes to drain away.
I hope we have enough time to spend the resolve for stamina. Assuming this is true, she's full on stamina and hit points, -2 resolve.
DM Kludde |
"First Seeker? Are you here?"
There's a groaning sound from the adjacent room, like the voice of a million hangovers calling out at once.
Toknomonicon |
WHen the creature falls, Tokno says, "Good job, everyone! That was...unpleasant." He seems to be breathing a bit heavily himself, not being as accustomed to close-up deadly fights as the vanguard is.
He directs Wanda to move away from the door behind her so that the team can more easily check on the room to the east. He joins Chadrah in looking to see if the groans come from their missing First Seeker.
Rilynn Rae |
Rilynn shakes her hands out, then rushes to help Chrysanthemum.
Medicine: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
"You did what the rest of us could not, and saved us all. Glad you survived!"
Once the vanguard is stabilized Rilynn joins the others investigating the door behind which she expects to find the object of their quest.
DM Kludde |
A single door to the west allows entrance into this spacious stone room. Rubble blocks what should have been a second door to the north. A wooden bedframe, chair, and footlocker take up much of the space here, while a bath basin sized for a Medium creature stands along the room’s eastern edge.
In the middle of the room is a groggy-looking Kasatha, nostrils hidden behind a colored scarf, who fits the description of Jadnura.
Jadnura, First Seeker of the Starfinder Society, listens intently, though his eyes look as if he is peering off into some long distant memory. He eventually says, “Thank you Starfinders. In my meditative state, I was unaware that this alien creature was assaulting my mind. In my meditations, I have seen many truths. It is time that I return with you to the Society. I will not forget the service you have done for me.”
Mission success! Please make your day job rolls if you haven't done so, and I'll move onto reporting and wrapping up.
Chadrah |
"I was starting to get a bit nervous there and thought we were over our heads," Chadrah confesses. "But this show how Starfinders can overcome great trials when working together. I'm glad you are coming back First Seeker, I'm sure Luwazi would appreciate your counsel."[/b]
I dont remember if I rolled for dayjob...
Chrysanthemum Gabbro |
"I am pleased to meet you, First Seeker. And I am quite thankful that we arrived before the creature had time to complete it's assault."
Chrysanthemum shakes out her limbs as they prepare to leave. "It is quite obvious that I need to spend more time in practice. The creature nearly defeated all of us and I do not wish to feel that way again. My thanks to you all for your aid."
Can't remember if I did a Day Job beforehand, so am rolling one now just in case.
Profession dancer: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Velorum Knight Errant |
It is good to meet you first speaker. We should have a good meal on the way back.
Day job check for profession cook: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
It's a pretty good meal, I think.
Khubelu |
Profession (Dancer): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Khubelu's dress rehearsal isn't great, which she knows is considered good luck.
Profession (Dancer), Reroll, 2 Novas: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 16 + 2 = 34
<It is an honor to meet you, First Seeker. The creature should trouble you no more. I hope you would share some of your revelations with us as we travel home, as we can update you on matters of the Society during your absence.>
Rilynn Rae |
Rilynn is at a loss for words. Being in the presence of the First Seeker in this context is almost disappointing. But here he is.
"Indeed."
But for her, the mission was complete. She intended to take that sabbatical and to live for some time as a foreign citizen of the Idari. Hopefully she could convince her sister to join her.
Profession, Spy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Toknomonicon |
"It is good to finally meet you, First Seeker," Tokno says, not bothering overly much to mask his relief after the bloody battle. "I think we will all welcome a restful voyage home after this mission, before we face new challenges."
The feychild gnome spends most of the voyage back to Absalom Station entertaining the crew, including by providing appropriate music to show off the skills of the two skilled dancers on this team.
Profession (musician), Day Job: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
42 x 2 = 84, x3 for Known Quality = 252 credits earned.
(And yes, his bonus really is that obscenely high: 6 ranks, 3 class skill, 6 Cha, 1 racial, 1 theme, 2 Tune-Bot, 4 tools; +2 to Day Job for holographic sashimono.)
DM Kludde |
I've noted all of that., thanks! I'm traveling today, but I'm hoping to get reporting and wrap-up done later.
DM Kludde |
The pleasure is all mine, Khubelu, Toknomonicon, team. A restful voyage would indeed help to recover from this unintended excitement. A stark reminder that all things have a beginning and an end, which is followed by new beginnings.
With Jadnura retrieved, the Void Scholar makes the short journey back to Absalom Station. Jadnura remains in isolation during the trip, emerging from his quarters only shortly before the ship arrives at its destination. I have had ample time to meditate on past events. I see now that my inactivity in the aftermath of the Scoured Stars rescue must come to an end. He states and then adds I would request that you keep my return a secret for the time being. I will likely to call upon you soon for a future assignment involving the fate of the Scoured Stars. I believe that there’s still much to learn about the Scoured Stars and the jinsul attackers who’ve reclaimed the system, but I do not want to rush into action - I need some time to put together a few more plans before I can assign you that mission.
I also given each of you a great deal of thought. You show potential, and I hope to follow each of you in your continuing careers. I shall assist you wherever I can. Best of luck to you!

Please let me know if everything is ok. I've now managed to find a workflow to fiddle in those photocards, so please show the abadarcorp trainees lots of love!
Thank you for playing, everyone. This was definitely a fun game to run!
@Rilynn: while I'm all for sabbaticals (having personally just had one - great!), Zoey is still hoping for a Team Knockout reunion of sorts. She even went to far as to sign a photocard for you.
@Chadrah: I saw you requested 1-33. I'm happy to give this table first pick of the seats. It's a dataphiles 3-6.
