Nikko pummels the last merc, while Twila fires an electric shot - the merc sees it coming, but doesn't manage to evade it. Cavaler then lands a shot, and takes down the merc before Shaq can rend him to pieces.
Combat over!
Clap. Clap. Clap.
Datch claps her hands slowly, a grin creeping across her face. “Excellent, Starfinders! I knew you were the ones for the job. Now, you’ve got to hurry. Kebzec’s got the disaster machine set up in an old university building, a few miles north of here. If you’re quick, you can keep Izdria on the map. If not… Well, you know as well as I what the machine’s meant to do, right?”
Suddenly, there’s a rumbling sound and the floor shakes slightly. In the distance, the crash of rock, the honk of horns, and the screams of panic herald another quake. Datch tips her head toward the sound, and shrugs. “Like I said, time is short.”
Datch turns, clicking away at the computer. “I’m sending you the address. Kebzec will keep the weapon underground. I’d check the basement. There’s an enercopter on the roof. I recommend you take it. I hear the traffic’s murder.”
Datch makes no motion to move. “I’ll stay here, of course. I’m preparing a data packet for Celita—all the information you’ll need to expose the Order’s operations. I’ve got about 15 minutes before more of Kebzec’s goons show up to check on me. I’ll finish in time. Then we’ll be even!” She fumbles a bit with the tools that Nikko threw her, “Thanks for the assist, I'll make sure to make it worth your while.”
I'm on holiday this week, so I might be a bit slower/less frequent to post.
Twila-5 |
'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' At least for now. Twila-5 gives her a quick nod, ready to move out with the rest of the group. She wishes there was time to thoroughly search the mercs and the area, but time is short. Failure means death, and death makes loot worthless.
As they move out, she'll watch for traps and ambushes.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Cavaler Traleth |
"Datch, you'll have to answer for your crimes against the Pact Worlds even if you did call us here to save this planet."
Cavaler knows letting Datch get away will come back to haunt the Starfinder Society, but the team has no choice.
He quickly reloads his dual crossbolter, but this time with deadly crossbow bolts made of blight quartz and then follows Twila-5.
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Datch grins I know I will have to answer, but none of that matters if we all die here, does it?
As promised, an enercopter is parked right on the roof of the building. The ignition key is missing, though, which is nothing that a good Pilot, Engineer or Hacker couldn't fix.
Piloting, Engineering or Computers to activate!

"Let's get this thing in the air as quickly as possible."
Computers (Aid Another): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Piloting (Aid Another): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 That's a +2 bonus to whoever tries to activate the enercopter using Piloting.
XHC-5 |
Shaq smiles at Datch as she sends them on their way. "See you around. Or not," he says with a laugh as he waves goodbye. When they get to the copter, he squeezes into the back. He could really use a bit of a rest, though he could also fly the thing if no one else wants to.
Don't think we want to take our front-liner into the next fight at 1/3 of SP. And looks like Cavaler could use a rest, too.
@GM, I presume we didn't have 10 minutes to reset Stamina, but will we have it on the chopper ride?
Twila-5 |
Twila-5 is happy to give the others a chance to rest after that fight--after all, they did most of the hard work. She slides into the pilot's chair and begins toggling controls.
Piloting, with Cavaler's Aid: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 15 + 2 = 24

Twila-5 manages to activate the Enercopter even before Fussoa could no doubt do it. The rotors start moving with a whoop-whoop-whoop- sounds that echoes from afar! There's a second enercopter closing in fast, and it looks to be quite unfriendly!
You probably either want to destroy that enercopter or escape it!

Nikko Fifty-Niner |
Nikko bumps into the co-pilot's seat & auto-aids (Piloting +18) Twila's efforts.
the assists are +2 bonuses, right?
Cavaler Traleth |
Cavaler almost falls out of the copter as Twila maneuvers it violently. He gives her a stern look, but then turns his focus back to the enemy.
"Aim for the engine compartment. Let's try to slow it down."

Not sure if he can Aid on this check, or if I've gotten him out of sequence and am Aiding on the Next round each time. But since he can auto-aid Piloting (+14), and can't shoot worth a bean, you can just bot him as Aiding Twila unless something else presents itself.
"You got this," Shaq says as encouragement to boost Twila's confidence in her flying. Thankfully she can't see him closing his eyes.
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Shaq: I'll just make it count for this round, just to be in sequence
Twila tries to evade the traffic, but actually rams into an incoming hovertransport, scratching the underside of the enercopter. The vehicle becomes a bit more wobbly to handle, but so far it seems to be holding up.
Damage: 6d10 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 10, 3, 8) = 32
Fussoa and Cavaler fire at the enemy 'copter, which is hot on their tail. Both shots hit, and the engine start spewing moke...

The enemy navigator fires the onboard artillery laser, which just hits the new enercopter in the tail.

The enemy enercopter enter the zone just that slightly earlier, and fails to avoid a swing by the huge construction crane, which nearly clips a rotor blade off!

Cavaler Traleth |
Cavaler reloads his crossbolter and fires for the engine compartment again.

Delea manages a good shot on the enemy enercopter, but her weapon is just to weak to make a dent in its armor...
The 'copters fly on, and the next zone is an even worse idea to enter than the last one. It's a restricted government area

Twilas manages to evade the enemy's shots, and just avoid the automated defense system. The lasers soon firing on the chasing enercopter, and show their destructive capacity! With a single shot, the enemy 'copter is sent into an uncontrollable, and soon crashes into a building with a big explosion!
Chase over!
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Safely landing at the indicated university site, the group arrives at a six-storey building that looks to be under construction. The windows are all boarded over, and the building’s interior is lit with dim light.
The building’s lobby is mostly complete, with a tiled floor, functioning doors, painted walls, and a sleek, built-in wooden desk and reception area. Plywood on the ground provides a path from the entrance to other areas of the building. Plastic sheeting at the south end of the room marks the transition to other incomplete areas, partially obscuring the view. (Into B4)
A pair of dirty work boots sits on the plywood in the northeast corner. A water bottle and stray food wrappers on the reception desk indicate that someone’s been eating in this room. Somebody also left their cloak here.
The boots are Boots of gliding, the cloak is a displacer cloak

XHC-5 |
Shaq surveys the room and the gear, but first things first. He plops down into the chair where the previous occupant had taken their lunch and lets out a big sigh. "Nice flying, Twila, but now we get a break, right Boss?" he asks looking at Cavaler who looks even more worn out than the big guy feels.
Taking 10 minutes for Stamina, please.
Shaq doesn't need the boots of gliding as he's got a jet pack and other movement tricks. Nor would he need the cloak.
Fussoa Tolzien |
Those boots look good but I have the feeling others may need it more than me.
Twila-5 |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Don't everyone jump on them at once. But seriously, who leaves magically enhanced items lying around like this? ... I sincerely hope it's because they're absent-minded, and not that these are low-level pittances to them." Twila-5 muses. She'll wear whatever no one else claims.
If no one cares otherwise, I propose Delea and I use these items, since we're the lowest-level characters and could use a boost.
Nikko Fifty-Niner |
I'm fine with Delea & Twila snagging the gear. Also good with the 10-minute rest.
