Sorry for being slow to get to this one, a lot on my plate of late.
I figured since I was coming in near the end of this I'd keep it very self-focused, and not rely on good timing for back and forths, but these are mostly thoughts that Pava would be fine at this point sharing with the rest of the crew some night by the fire or what haves, so don't feel like you shouldn't know this in character or anything (and feel free to respond or ask for a flashback conversation or anything too of course!)

It's alright. I liked what you wrote. I think Audria would have a lot of questions, but I think I'll save that for later.

Hope you have a great time. The setting certainly looks amazing!
Feel free to narrate the resolution to our encounter with the "tax collectors", Elric was just itching to test both Galewing and his new bow in combat.

I'm gonna level with you, I thought they were 100% real tax collectors, but in the 'we get to assess what you owe on the spot' sense.

Audria |

There's something that I find funny and endearing about that. :)
Elric's player is in a game I'm running, so I had a bit of a heads up. Even without that, though, I thought it was pretty obvious that we were being sized up for a shakedown.

Elric Rivers |

Oh, I 100% just assumed they were bandits based on the description of crude badges. They may be real tax collectors for all I know, but since we pretty much decided to be rebels anyway, Elric really had absolutely zero f***s to give any which way.

Audria |

Hey all, not post tonight, I'm just not up to it.

Shane Driscoll |

GM, feel free to ignore or alter any of Shane's plans if they don't suit the storyline :)
Though I do like the idea of Majenko throwing parties for his fellow House Drakes while the group is away :)

Elric Rivers |

Not to rain on your excellent idea, but Majenko went with us to Harse. He was flying overwatch with Galewing and Tally.

Audria |

He could have flown ahead on the way back, maybe?
Or this could be while Shane is out an about one day.
Post incoming, by the way. Just need to figure out what Audria does when she gets back.

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

Just checking in to say I'm working on a post to briefly cover the rest of Shrike's downtime and a response to Audria. Assuming the retraining succeeded, she'll be staking out Eel's End/the Dragon's Breath for 'Jenny,' so will be making some Gather Information checks that could be relevant to Audria's plans. Should have it done by tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

Apologies, I was not able to post during my trip as I could not log into the Paizo site at all. I'm back home now and will post shortly once I catch up with all my games.

Elric Rivers |

I’ll get something up for Elric soon too

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

Of course, I don't know yet how (if at all) what Shrike has found out by staking out Eel's End on a separate but related matter can help Audria. But, she's certainly in and wants to take down Halvara. I believe at some point there was some discussion about sneaking in to leave her a nice note. I imagine if we could do that infiltration, we could get some proof of her crimes instead if we wanted.

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

Don't hold things up for the Audria-Shrike conversation, GM, but is there anything Shrike can tell Audria about the Halvara situation from her stakeouts?

Hey GM, I was wondering how many days Audria would have to earn some coin? It looks like 4 or 5 days.

Audria |

Day 1 Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Coin (Silver Pieces): 1d10 ⇒ 6
Day 2 Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Coin (Copper Pieces): 1d10 ⇒ 4
Day 3 Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 Coin (Silver Pieces): 1d10 ⇒ 1
Day 4 Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Coin (Silver Pieces): 3d10 ⇒ (4, 3, 8) = 15
22 sp, 4 cp

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

Oh okay, so they get back from Harse on Toilday Sarenith 9, the meeting between Audria and Merula could be Wealday Sarenith 10 (also after a performance), and then a few days of downtime for everyone in Korvosa, and the next call to action happens on Sunday Sarenith 14? Sounds good, I'll just resolve the week of 6/10-6/14 of Merula's earnings with the Farrago here.
Oathday, Sarenith 11, assuming take 10 with a total +16 modifier for 26: 1d6 ⇒ 4 gp
Fireday, Sarenith 12, assuming take 10 with a total +16 modifier for 26: 1d6 ⇒ 5 gp
Starday, Sarenith 13, assuming take 10 with a total +16 modifier for 26: 1d6 ⇒ 4 gp
Sunday, Sarenith 14, assuming take 10 with a total +16 modifier for 26: 1d6 ⇒ 2 gp
Total of 21 gp added to Shrike's expenses tracking.
Also, welcome back from your trip, GM! Don't know how I missed that. I hope you had a good time.

Thank you, I had a great time! The castles we visited were very interesting, and we found some really good food - including my first quesabirria tacos! In a small town in Portugal, of all places. :D

Elric Rivers |

We should make sure to get Abella caught up before we move on. She has not posted at all in August.
You still with us, Abella? Anything we can do to help you back in the action?

Audria |

Would it help to take a break and come back when things calm down? Now seems like a good place to duck out until things calm down. I've done that before.

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

Please stay if you feel you can, Abella. We would miss your voice greatly if you left. Real life comes first always, but if it would help you to take a break, I'm sure that would be fine. Let us know what you need.
I don't think any of us have any spells or skills that'd be useful in treating and curing an illness like this. Abella has a +8 to Heal and Elric has a +6, but they're the only ones that have it. We also don't have anyone that can cast Remove Disease and Audria doesn't have the mercy that can do it, either.
As a level 5 shaman, Abella actually can cast remove disease, as far as I understand it. Unless there's something about her archetype that prohibits it, she just has to choose to prepare that spell in the morning, like a cleric. Of course, in character, Audria might well not know that, because Abella is a pretty nonstandard magic user in the first place, and we haven't been level 5 for very long.
@Shane, as far as the necromancer's books, Shane looked through them and told the party what they were, and I declared Shrike putting them in the handy haversack to take them out of there way back when. (At least, she took the ones he and Abella thought were important, as Shrike would not have known what to take, herself.) They have been in the treasure sheet since then, listed under your name as their carrier, since Shrike would not have kept them herself in the handy haversack for very long. Presumably they're heavy. I think it would probably be fair to say they ended up at Zellara's with Shane. If you and GM Harrow agree, anyway.

Audria |

Oh, derp, I forgot that Abella is a shaman.
And I would miss Abella and have been missing her comments. I fully expect her to twit Audria on her and Elric becoming an item whenever Hrothdane can post on the regular again. As you say, real life comes first, and I know from personal experience that deciding to step away for a little while and making it clear when you'll be back, if for no other reason to than to check in, can be a big help in stressful situations, like this one seems to be.
I don't want to see Abella go either, but I would much rather Hrothdane get things sorted and come back when they aren't under so much pressure at work and dealing with so much pain than to get stressed out about posting and keeping up.

Shane Driscoll |

I’m in a lot of pain right now and work has not been letting up. I feel bad and am debating whether I need to drop, but I really don’t want to. I’m just so overloaded right now I’m having trouble keeping up with anything
Sympathies. I hope you get a reprieve from both soon

I'm so sorry to hear that. Please, take all the time you need and do whatever you can to alleviate the stress. You'll always have a place in this game, so don't worry if you feel like you need to take an extended break from posting.
As Shrike points out, if Abella can prepare and cast remove disease it could help us out in the next section, but I'm sure we'll manage. We can either let Abella fade into the background or have one of us bot her until you feel better.

Figured it'd be better to have this discussion here than in the game thread.
I figured that any actions against Halvara would be more of a long term thing unless we wanted to go full assault mode. I think for now Audria will join Shrike in her vigil and try to learn more about how to plan an infiltration, disguise herself, play a role, etc. Some things Shrike might notice are the hardness in Audria's eyes whenever she spots Halvara, the lack of self-doubt, and maybe a slight blush and smile whenever she talks about Elric.
As for plans, I've got two, kinda.
1. Infiltrate the House of Clouds
This one was the one that I was thinking about and the one that used Audria as bait. The idea was that she'd be hired/bought as a serving girl and spend some time quietly gathering information and scouting out the place before causing a ruckus that would let the others come in and haul Halvara and any evidence we can gather off.
2. Nab Pilts' Errand Boy
This one's simple, we grab Pilts' dwarven associate and try to get him to sing. Maybe we even try a honeypot or something to get him to confess to some crimes or something else before we do it.

Abella, I'm so sorry that you are still dealing with the pain, and the work overload on top of that. Like the others said, if taking a break would help please do so, you'll always be welcome to return when you feel better. I would really hate to lose you as a player and to lose Abella's unique voice.
Books: since Shrike took them out of the catacombs, I'm fine with her giving them to Shane and Shane stashing them at his new house. A wizard needs a library, after all.
Halvara: I have plans for you to encounter her later in the books if that helps. The events of the current book might keep you too busy to enact the first plan, anyway. :)

Unless someone objects, I Love this, and it keeps things simple. Clearly, the real treasure was the collectables we hoarded along the way :)

Audria |

No objections here. :)

I'm going to be traveling from Saturday the 21st through Monday the 30th. I'll have my cell phone during that time, so I should be able to do at least some shorter posts, but if I'm slow, please don't hold anything up for me.

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

I'm back to a real computer as of late last night. So, are we slow rolling the next plague plot development until we get word from Abella?

Audria |

Sorry, thought I posted. Dealing with a pet death now, on top of everything else. I’m good with the extended absence and coming back when things calm down, whatever that looks like. I wanna be caught up and stay caught up
Oh man. I know that's not easy. Had a friend who had to put his cat down a couple of weeks ago. You've got my thoughts and prays.
Maybe Abella's got an apprentice now with Brienna?

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

I'm so sorry, Abella. Wishing all the best to you and your family. We'll be here when you get back.
It's up to you how to handle it, I guess, GM, unless Abella has a preference here. (In terms of full botting vs. unavailable for adventuring but available at 'camp' somewhere vs. missing/sick herself/unavailable completely.)

GM Harrow |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I was thinking that Abella would either keep visiting the Soldados or bury herself in research for a while (or both). So I will not bot her, but she is still around outside adventuring.

Lania 'Shrike' Fordyce |

For our purposes, the relevant point of distinction is whether we know if we can call on her spells and research/knowledge, is all. Like, in-character we still don't know that Abella can even cast remove disease, but still, the first thing it would make sense to do if we had a disease problem is go and ask her about it because she's positioned herself as an expert and has been spending the last two days looking into this disease specifically. I have a feeling that's about to get extremely important.

Elric Rivers |

I think that would be a reasonable assumption once it becomes clear that we have an epidemic on our hands. Character-wise, she would probably want to hole up in her own apartment or at Zellara/Shane's house.
