There is nothing to drop on your laps - you are masters of your own destiny! :D
The disturbing part, my experience in the 'Lost Lands' tells me a lot of those destinies could end badly :)
On a separate note, now that we've started gathering loot, how is the party going to carry it and how are we, as players, going to track it?

Gubble |

Gm, do you have a spreadsheet format that you'd like us to use? For tracking loot. I have no problem doing my best to keep the sheet up to date, or sharing the responsibility with others.

Guthlag Hardfoot |

If there's a link to a doc that's made publicly accessible, maybe at the top of the campaign info tab, I might occasionally contribute if I'm the first person to see the list of loot received and it's not already listed.

Robert Henry |

putting this over here instead of cluttering up an 'interest' thread.
Hey GM - Obermind, you got me thinking about Rory. I initially created him as a cavalier, a halfling mounted on a wolf, but the "Giantslayer" recruitment wanted one of each 'role': Full BAB, Skill Monkey, Divine Caster (9), Arcane Caster (9) and one 'other' caster (6). I didn't figure it would be likely for a halfling to be selected as the Full BAB so I altered him to the 'other' as a hunter. I had a fun time playing him, that's why I mentioned him in the 'interest check'
So now, I'm digging through the core rule book to see how to get closest to the actual character: Hunter, Druid or ranger/druid. It's fun to see what feats and items are actually available.
I'm leaning ranger/druid but not sure yet.
If the game moves forward, I'm not positive I'd play Rory instead of Ivar or Boram, but depending on the other applicants I'd certainly consider it.

GM - Obermind |

Thanks for sharing Robert - I like Hunters a lot, I find the class really flavorful.
I have always found it unfortunate one needs to choose being Small, to be able to play a ‘rider’ character without gimping oneself. I think if most published APs would have a better balance between outdoors and indoors, there would perhaps be a bigger attraction to playing characters with mounts?

Robert Henry |

I've only played the one hunter, but I don't do a lot of 3/4 casters, literally I've played one hunter, one warpriest and a couple of bards. I agree about the mounted characters, I've got a couple med. size characters who have mounts, but I tend to save them for 'Kingmaker' or other obvious sandboxes.
I love the idea of halflings riding wolves or wardogs. But when you compare the numbers to other 'Crunchy' Full BAB's they come up wanting. Maybe with 'core only' it wouldn't be so extreme.
Just for fun I'm sitting here putting together the crunch on three or four second level 'core' characters, just to have options. The worst part is making sure the gear is available.

Gubble |

I did not realize you all were in sight of the fort. Makes Gubble's worry about his bird a bit silly :) Oh well. MUCH better that we are so close

Gubble |

Understandable completely. Gubble's lack of seeing you can be explained by his glasses needing to be cleaned. Now we have to fight SPIDERS. GM you made the description really nicely creepy.

Guthlag Hardfoot |

I thought they were out of sight, too, since they had switched from gathering wood to getting food. That being said, I guess Gubble's bird flew up pretty soon after we arrived, so it would make sense for them to have just struck out. Although in that case would they have had time to find the berries?

Naomi Chadwick |
I thought they were out of sight, too, since they had switched from gathering wood to getting food.
Elgrin had talked about gathering food and Jalros volunteered to go with him, but I don't know how far out they had intended to go. Naomi mentioned a couple of times gathering wood, so I just imagined her going to the edge to pick up what had fallen nearby.

Since you are all moving as a group, I will wait for everyone (or at least a majority) to tell me what their actions are. Except for Guthlag who already did. Also Guthlag, I assume Cann is with you, right?
As they were approaching, Naomi loaded her crossbow, that's a move action. Does it count as her action? I will get another post up to at least be part of any in game discussion, but I thought I should ask.

Naomi Chadwick |
I've been trying to wrap my head around an 'in game post' but I'm struggling, so let me get this off of my chest.
"Odd that..." He says to those awake tilting his head toward the lone crow. "Crows tend to flock together, especially when they roost at night. There're times back home I've seen hundreds of the things circling and calling in a great feathered swarm as they settle in for the night along the docks or atop some temple or stone-crafted government building."
He looks to Gubble who has his own feathered companion. "Can't help but wonder if maybe that bird isn't a spy for some other wizard or witch." He adds switching his crossbow for his blade.
I found the post a bit of a stretch, Hamish doesn't have any knowledge (nature) skills but crows roosting together at night is a fairly common fact and it would reenforce Hamish's suspicion.
But when the 'Allergies' came up.
"Sorry." Hamish sniffles, eyes watering as he reloads. "I haven't had an allergic reaction like this since we ran into a bunch of gnoll river pirates. Blasted creatures always send my sinuses into a tizzy of...."
His eyes go wide as the soft yips and yaps continue outside the stockade.
He wipes his nose with a handkerchief and looks back up at the crow with narrowed, suspicious eyes."Say we were expecting spiders, but I'll bet tomorrow night's chores, there's a pack of dog boys outside." He says tapping a finger against his nose before he sneezes again. Fortunately, this time his finger isn't poised over the trigger.
It feels like an excuse to reveal Hyena-like animals being near, without making the 'nature' check or having knowledge (local) for identifying gnolls. It is really over the top for me.
Sorry if it's not my place to say, but that's enough like metagaming that it's put me off my post. Having said that, I will try to have a productive 'in game post' today.

Gubble |

Depends on how common gnolls are in this game. In pathfinder proper, something like pointed ears alone might have you guess elf without a roll. Little green, goblin, so on. Treating it as delightful fluff until one of succeed on a knowledge check makes the most sense to me

Gubble |

Can't see them, don't even know what they are, have very limited bit to work with as well, so completely understand if Gubble's roll isn't good enough to decipher, but hopefully he can tell if it is language. Comprehend language is being memorized tomorrow!

Gubble |

Glad it went so good you are sad it is over! That is something at least.
Question... waking is a move action, but we'll still be on the ground, so standing would be another move action?

Naomi Chadwick |
For the first round, except for Jalros and Guthlag, everyone just woke up, and now has a move action left (as per my previous post ;))
So Hamish and Naomi, let me know if you want to change your actions.
So the problem is that I was posting too much, first I posted
and then postedSound asleep, Naomi doesn't initially respond to Guthlags warning. Hearing Jolros baritone voice bellowing 'Get up' Naomi blinks squinting her eyes as she turns towards Thistle, realizing the wolf was on her feet, growling staring off into the woods. Blinking her eyes Naomi gets to her knees, tossing her blanket off. Blinking again she remembers the crossbow is on her other side. Resting her right hand on the crossbow, she pushes herself up, lifting the crossbow with her. Blinking again, keeping her eyes wide she turns the direction Thistle is now growling towards, calling out "Jalros what is it?"
Two move actions, pick up crossbow and stand
'Large insect-like creatures flying towards us.' Nodding as Jalros explains, "Thanks Jalfros." Naomi cocks the crossbow loading a bolt from the quiver on her hip.
As she raises the crossbow to her shoulder, she moves her hand casting a spell, سبک" The end of the crossbow illuminating, she smiles at Gubble's comment. Responding, "Yes it is Gubble." Then looking down at Thistle, she tells the halfling. "Gubble why don't you stay near Thistle and I; I'll have her guard you." Thistle, hearing her name, starts to wage her tail and gives a light 'woof' when Naomi tells the wolf, "گابل نگهبان خار". Thistle Guard Gubble
So let's assume the first action took place. she stood up, holding the crossbow, is that ok? or is picking up the crossbow one action and standing a second. I've seen GM's do both. So if only one is aloud. She picks up the crossbow, and is prone.

Gubble |

Okay, so in Gubble's previous post he woke and then got up. Then he had started working on opening his banner, so that will wait til next round.

Hamish Macrae |

I guess I'm confused, I thought we already did the wake up/get up round. So I thought this was a new round. If not, then I'll just stick with my first post of get up/grab rapier.

Gubble |

We all jumped the gun a bit in waking and doing things. Got us out of turn order a bit (and our GM was on a much-needed vacation so he didn't jump on and stop us).
So We are back to the waking turn.

GM - Obermind |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

So let's assume the first action took place. she stood up, holding the crossbow, is that ok? or is picking up the crossbow one action and standing a second. I've seen GM's do both. So if only one is aloud. She picks up the crossbow, and is prone.
I think in these cases I will go with allowing 'drawing your weapon as part of a move action if your BAB is +1 or more'. Unfortunately for Naomi that is not yet possible, so she will remain prone, with crossbow in hand.

Naomi Chadwick |
@Naomi: Did you just copy/paste "Jalfros" again? (Kidding, kidding. Just giving you a hard time) ;)
Yep, clearly the worlds laziest post. Since her actions would not change, I copied-and-pasted part of my previous post; not worrying that you had already answered her. And worse, I did not realize I had misspelled Jalros' name.
But thank you for reminding me to not only spellcheck my posts but to read them as well. Between a couple keys on my board sticking and being a horrendous speller, I really should double check everything!

Javell DeLeon |

Lol!
Man, I know the feeling. And I HATE spelling some of these weird words because I'm always spelling them wrong and the computer attacks me with that stupid red line!
Gosh, I hate that red line with a passion. I'm like: "That is TOO how you spell it, jerkweed!" But of course... it's not. Then I just get angrier. Lol! ;)
