Need to update the character for 8th level.
SRO Envoy with Expanded Attunement.
Could we delay start until Monday? I have an in person convention that I am preparing for this weekend.

Sure - no worries.

Recruitment Thread.
Please add your details in the following format
1) Player name: Hmm
2) Character name: Trusty Trashbot
3) SFS#-Character#: 820-706
4) Character Class & Level: Operative 8
5) Faction: Second Seekers LE
6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle: There is no slow speed in Starfinder Society.
7) Dayjob Roll: Profession Maintenance Worker: 1d20 + 16 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 5 = 29
8) Anything else you wish to add:
I think we already provided the above information in the sign-in spreadsheet. Double data-entry seems inefficient.
"Hey everyone, I am Trusty Trashbot, and I'm here to take out the trash!" Trusty has a mouth on him, which is why it makes perfect sense to send trash-talking bot on a diplomatic mission. He's a spy operative, which means he can disguise himself as any small race -- though he usually turns himself into trash cans and maintenance bots when he's spying.
Other special notes: I will be at the same convention that Bret is. A Monday start sounds great.
Trusty Trashbot |
Also note to everyone else: there is a handout from Ehu Hadif on SLIDE ONE that I found that explains why we are here, how we arrived and what our mission is.
Kultainen Vaimo |

2) Character name:Kultanien Viamo
3) SFS#-Character#: 100387-701

6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle: regular
7) Dayjob Roll: [dice=diplomat]1d20+
8) Anything else you wish to add:
If botting me, Kultanien tends toward use of inspiring words on those injured and get-em on which ever target is the center of attention.
phaeton_nz |
Yes, I suppose it is double entry but it does help to track who doesn't dot in after registering on the signup sheet - also as a backup if, somehow something bad happens to the sheet.
Good luck with your weekend con. I've got one as well I'm supposed to be GMing Starfinder at this weekend, but there are a current lack of signups :(

I need to update DJ's profile - been a few levels since he's played PbP.

Profile finally updated. Will likely find a few things that I missed.
Added Get ‘Em improvisation.
Skill Expertise (Sense Motive, Medicine, Engineering)
Envoy Improvisation (Inspiring Boost, Expanded Attunement, Don’t Quit, Hurry, Get ‘Em)
Kultainen Vaimo |
From the description, I'm thinking it is the number of distinct skills that we get successes with that matters. But that is just a guess. Sometimes scenario designers could be more ....open... about the underlying mechanics for these types of encounters. As they often are in stark opposition to other very similar encounters in different scenarios.

Game mechanics should not be hidden. They are the mechanism used to determine the results of a series of actions, sometimes in a very abstract way. There is no reason to hide the rules from the players, and at least one very good reason not to. It runs counter to the cooperative nature that society games are supposed to have. Tough to cooperate when we don’t even know how we are supposed to mechanically achieve success.
Shifty |

Not sure I read it the same way.
"Here is an opportunity to impress the two diplomats. You can attempt one skill check per diplomat to influence their attitude towards you. For Azosin it is: Bluff, Diplomacy, Culture or Profession(Archaeologist). For Myza it is Engineering, Life Science, or a relevant Profession check for biosheres and nanites".
Looks like the usual classic grab bag of 2-3 skills per NPC you can roll, as opposed to needing to hit all of them as individual skills. The more successes the better.
Yes it mentions Kultainen doing Diplomacy, but that could be because the Diplomacy to influence was rolled by Kultainen before it was cued and the GM has allowed the roll to carry forward - Kultainen can now roll the other 'grab bag' on Myza (Engineering, Life Science, or a relevant Profession check).
Personally, my view is that I could do with far less 'impress random NPCs' in scenarios where it seems a bit meaningless to do so. "It isn't MY planet going to hell in a handbasket - it's YOURS and we've been sent here to save it - why do I need to impress you pal?".
phaeton_nz |
Shifty is essentially correct. I took that straight out of the module but not mentioning the DCs.
Dr. Mech Coy |
I'm totally getting a DPRK feel!
DPRK?
Only hit I can find on that is Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea).
Kultainen Vaimo |
That is the one. Massive buildings that are all but unused. Big shows of popular happiness for important visitors.
Kultainen Vaimo |
It's my fault. I was playing Settlers of Catan with my family last night. And even though my starting towns were... not-ideally located... the die just ran hot for me the whole night. I was trading away resource cards for chocolate and still ended up so far ahead of everyone else.
So I think it is dice karma coming back.
Dr. Mech Coy |
So can the emitter be shut down from here so it is no longer jamming signals, or do I need to go to it?
Would it be a Computers or Engineering task to fix the emitters? Obviously the systems are interconnected, otherwise one failure couldn’t cascade to other locations.
I think you said the emitter was the purple thing at A1, but am not sure.
DJ Event Horizon |
The emitter is definitely the thing at A1. I think if we get the emitter working again, it will stop the jamming, and start effecting the goo (I hope)
phaeton_nz |
The module doesn't say so I suspect you can reset the emitter from the control room with a Computers or Engineering check, at least enough to stop the jamming and call for evac.
Dr. Mech Coy |
Trusty also determines it will take the emitter about a minute at least to reboot, but you can now call for emergency evac.
Since we have the codes, couldn’t someone with a Comm unit just send the codes to shut the nanites down?
As for evac, would 4 enercycles be enough to get the group out? I believe it should be.
phaeton_nz |
That might work if you know the frequencies and, assuming enecycles can take pillion passengers, sure.
Dr. Mech Coy |
I would assume we know the frequency because of finding the information. I would suggest making it happen could be a Computers check, although an argument could also be made for too trivial to require a check or an engineering check.
The actual vehicles are Motospheres, a set of four marbles that can each turn into enercycles for an hour. Each enercycle can carry two people, the driver and a passenger.
Dr. Mech Coy |
and a transparent barrier slams down to protect Bitic.
Can we see the barrier? Is it more like a pane of glass or a force wall?
phaeton_nz |
More like transparent aluminum but yes, you can tell it is there.
Dr. Mech Coy |
With regards to the regeneration on the robot:
Viper-6 - Magical fire should do the job.
Viper-6 has a called fusion on her laser pistol. Having any fusion makes the weapon magical.
Is that sufficient?
Dr. Mech Coy |
Trusty and I will be at PaizoCon this weekend. Updates will likely be a little slower.
phaeton_nz |
In person huh? You lucky people.
Twich |
I'm sorry, I have a lot going on right now, and cannot wrap my mind around what is going on in this fight. Can someone please bot Twich? She solves every problem by casting spells or using sciency skills.
Dr. Mech Coy |
1) Player name: Bret I
2) Character name: Dr. McCoy
3) SFS#-Character#: 141981-707
4) Character Class & Level: Envoy 8
5) Faction: Wayfinders
6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle: Regular
7) Dayjob Roll: [dice=Profession (Doctor), toolkit and clothing] original roll was 21
8) Anything else you wish to add:
Could I please change the faction to Manifold Host?
Now that the new season has started, I could use some additional reputation with them in order to reach the top tier.
Thanks!
Dr. Mech Coy |
Is the dragon really only a medium sized creature as shown on the map?
I would have expected it to be size large or huge.
phaeton_nz |
It's huge. Fixed.
Dr. Mech Coy |
Updated position now that Twitch has acted.
phaeton_nz |
Ouch - I empathise.
Twich |
I'm sorry, everyone, but I'm in a really bad place right now. I'm going to take this weekend entirely off from PbP to try to rest and heal. Please bot me if I would otherwise hold the game back. Feel free to use comsumables or limited use abilities.
phaeton_nz |
Yeah ... best wishes
Dr. Mech Coy |
So we were told that the dragon is vulnerable to electricity and Trusty has used an electric weapon on them.
The thing is I can’t make sense of the reported damage to the dragon. It went from -39 hp to -59 hp after taking 30 electric from Trusty plus presumably falling when it fell through the floor after landing on it and breaking it.
It would really help me follow things if each update you gave the current status of at least the beacon and dragon.
Quick question as well, does the glass floor block hearing? Looking at doing an Inspiring Boost which is language and sense dependent. Need to know if that will work through the glass floor since I can see the target and can either try to yell or send a message via integrated Comm unit.
——
It looks like Viper is barely up. Has everyone else updated their status either in the header or someplace else I can easily find it?
phaeton_nz |
Oooops. I goofed badly. The dragon should be a lot more damaged. And yes, thank you for that suggestion. I'll do that on the next update.
The glass floor would block hearing but given that half of it on the top floor is currently missing, you can inspire anyone on both top and middle floors. Although sending through the comm units should work.
Viper 6 |
It looks like Viper is barely up. Has everyone else updated their status either in the header or someplace else I can easily find it?
Yeah I have been doing a great job of absorbing the boss-mob :p
Trusty Trashbot |
I am sorry your little one is ill. I wish them a speedy recovery!
DJ -- Do you think that you can supercharge my weapon? I'm doing the most electric damage, maybe I can at least take the dragon out.
