Even without his magic powering his strike, Kondai lands a powerful punch against the lion's jaw, which snaps the great neck back with a crack. Jaxon moves in and pounds down on the king of beast's head, knocking him out cold.
With the cats incapacitated, you have time to tend to your wounded and search the cave. The cave itself is filled with the remains of goblins, men, and other animals. Mixed among them are bits and pieces of equipment and a good number of assorted coins totally thirty six gold in all. This must have been how the lion was paying the bandit leaders.

Fran skids a bit but keeps her feet. She heads over to where Dyner lies unconscious, pulls out her healing potion and pours it down her beak.

It takes several seconds for Alaric's vision to even remotely begin to return. Several blurry forms are all around. "Is it over? What was that light?"

Standing near Alaric, Kondai's wounds close up. He crosses his arms and scowls.
"Your healing could have been better timed . . . but at least it is effective."

Jaxon stands over the lion's corpse and spits on it. "Good riddance. Now this turf belongs to us." He glances around at the parts of men and goblins. "Though it looks like you had a good run."
He searches through the lion's lair, finding the small amount of gold. "Hey, not a bad bonus. But it looks like the goblins can finish their project now."

After falling on her rump and watching the lion get killed, Samna scrambles to her feet.
"Well, that was undignified. I feel much better about killing him now." She glances around the cave. "Obviously a menace, if the goblins are going to set up trade in the area. I wonder where he learned to talk?"

Fran walks over to the lion's corpse as well and sticks her rapier into it, feeling satisfied that she managed to stab something... She glances around guiltily, hoping her companions didn't see that.

Between the potion and Alaric's spells, Dyner is quickly back on her feet and ready to give some lion's ass a freezing. She takes a moment to realize that the fighting is over and instead focuses on making sure that there's nothing else deadly in the area.
When she's satisfied there's no more threat, she does move up to the lion and take a look at his corpse. "Now what kind of lion can talk? And is this honking big?" She tries to see if it was some druid turned into a lion or a lion that gained intelligence and speach or if it was something that just looked like a lion.

Dyner is certain that this is not a druid or other shapeshifting being but a lion. Kondai can sense the lingering traces of magic within the lion's corpse, which he recognizes as the results of a ritual to awaken the intelligence within an animal. However, how the lion learned magic is something unknown.
You gather the valuables that you've found and make your way back to the goblin camp. "Excellent!" Zig says as you relay your success in slaying the beast and the other cats. He sends you back with the empty wagons. In Katapesh, you return to Yigrig with news of your success. "Perfect! I knew the Pathfinder Society wouldn't let me down. Here. Take this back to your superiors."
He hands you a bag full of gold. "You have my heartfelt thanks!"
