Galadhan and Leon check the northern door. Two nat 20's, nice!. Checking the door out, neither Leon nor Galadhan think it's trapped nor do they hear anything on the other side. The stone door is likely unlocked and probably leads deeper into the tomb.

Both Kal Drak and Aleks head east to investigate the rubble. From their current position, it just looks like natural erosion is at work here.

Hmm... This looks to be just natural erosion. The heart of the hoard is always at the bottom of the dungeon. Let's head down the stairs.

Aleks gives Kal Drak a slightly quizzical look, but shrugs and follows the others.

GM Screen:

As suggested by Kal Drak, the group heads down the western set of stairs. Throughout the room are eight stone tables which stand between several shallow alcoves. Each of these tables bears ancinet, dusty relics such as scrolls, armor, carved figurines, and jewelry; all are in various state of disrepair. Details carvings of a furious man engaged in battle adorn the alcoves between each table.

Though the light is dim, anyone can identify Haramil in numerous places in the alcove carvings. In each, he is a furious-looking muscular man clad in chain mail and armed with either a sword or lance. His enimies and allies alike seem to fear his presence, and in many scenes, it's hard to tell friend from foe as Haramil hews through them all with a fearsome rage. In every scene, Haramil clutches a small black sphere in one hand that shrouds him in coils of shadow.

DC 20 Knowledge (history):
The people of Haramil's time often offered personal belongings or memorabilia as final gifts to the departed.

If you enter this room, please roll a Perception check! You can also investigate the items more closely. Please let me know which one of the stone tables/items you investigate (e.g. the southeast table).

Are these offerings? Relics of his enemies, like a tribute? Farrar follows Leon into the room, scanning to see what's on the closest table and examining whatever's on it, brushing aside the cobwebs and dust of ages. Shrugging at the ruined demi-gauntlet he'd picked up, Farrar hums a few bars and his eyes flash a bluish-silver as he scans the room...

Amazing all these grave goods buried with this warlord. Truly people must have both loved and feared him back in his time, it is incredible so much honor done to him. But was he slaying friend or foe in these carvings, or is the intent to show he was indomitable...?

The Elf then looks about for anything of interest or suspicion…

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25

The group wanders in to the room and inspects the items. Indeed these look like offerings as final gifts to Haramil. But on closer inspection, each gift is fundamentally flawed in some way. A helmet that is flimsy and lopsided, a ring that contains an obvious fake gem in its setting, a figuring of Haramil that has comical and unflattering exaggerations. The passage of many centuries have also worn these offerings so they are practically worthless. None seem to have any magical value.

DC 20 Sense Motive:
These offerings are intended to be a sly insult. Perhaps they did not like Haramil all that much.

Beyond the few items scattered about on the table and the murals, this room is quiet. Shadows seem to flicker throughout the room.

Farrar scans the room for anything magical. He gets a ping in the northwest corner. The bard pulls up the item on the table - the ring with a fake gem in its setting. Picking up the ring, he quickly realizes that the ring is not magical. But Farrar can't seem to pinpoint the source of the aura beyond the general area of the table.

Farrar looks around the room thinking a moment,
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
These are left as an insult or to lessen his memory, not honor him. Apparently the people left behind when he died didn't think very much of him beyond his reach. That's a good sign for us I think?

Staring into the corner, Farrar approaches it, and tosses the ring back onto the table, Something over here is magical indeed, but its not that piece of junk - I wonder what it is... Kal, any ideas?

Aleks enters the room with the others, nodding sagely when they talk about the history of laving gifts in tombs, though that's not something he was actually aware of.

Perhaps its just the shadows masking the magic or maybe its something else, but it's nearly impossible to make out where the magic is coming from - at least without completely desecrating the tomb and tear out the table.

What do you guys do now? Continue to try the source of the magic or move on?

Kal, who was just getting ready to knock over the table, sighed and follows Leon's suggestion.

The group heads east to get a closer look at the rocky debris. The debris and loose soil have obviously fallen from cracks and crevices in the ceiling fifteen feet overhead. There are several niches and hollows - all are filled with massive cobwebs infused with writhing shadows.

A worked stone wall to the north bears a life-sized mural of an ancient warrior standing with a shield and lance. The curled-up corpses of four human-sized spiders lie on the ground floor of the cavern, casting strange shadows across the floor.

Kal Drak bounds in to the room, parkouring over the various webs throughout the cavern. Upon closer look, these spider creatures do not look alive! Perhaps it's the animated husk of the creature or the thousands of tiny (living) spiders that climb in and around the creature, but it's not a living, breathing creature anymore.

But that does not stop the dragon disciple! With one fierce swing of his claw, he digs into the husk of the creature, tearing it open. Small spiders skitter away and climb back inside. But several stick around and bite at Kal Drak! In fact, anyone who sticks around these undead spider creatures will likely get bitten by the infestation of smaller spiders.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Kal Drak takes 4 damage! He must make a DC 17 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. Then he must make another Fortitude save versus poison.

@Kal Drak, yep, both Escape Artist and Strength are standard actions. You can read more on web attacks here

Kal Drak unfortunately looses his breakfast. But luckily, it could be much worse. The dragon disciple manages to shake off the effects of the poison, perhaps by smashing enough of the small spiders that not enough poison enters his body.

Galadhan moves forward to get closer into the dungeon and lines up his bow. Though there is some of the cavern blocking his shot, Galadhan is able to shoot fairly precisely and nail the spider creature dead on! Not his best attack, but still does a fair amount of damage.

Though Akku hasn't had much experience in the world, something deep in his mind slowly floats to the surface. Maybe its Pharasma herself encouraging these memories. But he knows these creatures to be deathwebs. Once living spiders, these two monstrosities likely died from a catastrophic event while pregnant. Thousands of it's babies still live inside the rotten husk of the deathweb.

The deathweb in itself isn't too dangerous, just a moderate severe bite, the worst thing about these undead spiders are the infestation of living spiders within. These spiders will bite any creature that stands nearby (Any creature ending its turn within 5 feet will take 1d6 damage). Anyone who takes this damage may also become nauseous, as seen with Kal Drak. In addition, anyone who is damaged by these living spiders are also affected by a strength draining poison.

The best way to deal with the living spiders within is an area effect attack dealing enough damage - though it's only temporary!

Never thought to mention it before. Kal is confident enough in his supreme toughness, that he doesn't really mind being caught in a AoE spell if it helps wipe out the enemy.

Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 19 ⇒ (7) + (2, 6) + 19 = 34
Self Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

AC vs the spider is now 27 & Leon has concealment vs it from shadow smite.

Was waiting on Galadhan to post, but will post an update!

Aiyana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Aiyana dashes in after the group, lines up her shortbow, and let's one fly! But she's a terrible aim - may be her nerves. The arrow flies and hit the wall.

Leon manages to withstand the thousands of tiny spider bites, brushing off them before any serious damage could happen. With a mighty swing and another, he manages to cut the creature in half! The thousands of baby spiders scatter, climbing into any small crevice, no longer a threat.

Will delay Galadhan for now!

The deathweb isn't too smart. It sees food for its thousands of babies, so it bites down on Kal Drak! Yum! It chomps down hard.

Bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
damage: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (3, 2) + 12 = 17

Alchemist Fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Akku casts guidance on Siiska, and nods to her in agreement, as if answering an unspoken question...

Standard: casting guidance on Siiska; Move: steps out of Leon's way and squeezes to the northwest against the cave wall...

Squeezing:
Each move into or through a narrow space counts as if it were 2 squares, and while squeezed in a narrow space, you take a –4 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to AC.

Siiska takes off to the north into the other cave, then veers back to the south, phasing right through the cave wall and appearing creepily and quietly behind the monstrous spider, lining up an umbrella smack carefully...

Double move; movement through the cave walls is at 1/2 speed via Phase Lurching ability (squares shown in pale blue on the map); Kal Drak now has a flanking position.

Farrar begins to sing again, his voice inspiring his comrades against the giant spider monsters.

Inspire Courage +2 4/24

Farrar manages to sing. The sound of his voice echoes throughout the room. His companions immediately feel inspired!

Akku briefly touches his sister. Siiska feels guided in her actions as she sneaks through the rocky wall. What a cool ability!. The deathweb doesn't seem to notice her immediately.... but the thousands of tiny spiders do! They slowly start to swarm over the phantom...

Siiska is subject to the Infestation effect.

Infestation, Siiska: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Siiska then must make a DC 17 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. Then must make another DC 17 Fortitude save vs poison.

Then Galadhan comes gallantly in and fires off an arrow. It lands square in the side of the undead spider. Solid hit for sure!

@GM: 2 dmg does not punch through her DR 5/slashing and magic, as far as I know, therefore the poison does not enter her system, as per linked damage reduction and swarm rules. Let me know if this assumption is wrong though i.e. if there's something else in the monster's stats that goes beyond this.

In the shadows, Siiska smiles as the tiny spiders climb all over her and further obscure her presence from the giant spider...

Oh you are right! One day, I'll remember that Siiska has DR! Though it's not a true swarm (it's the infestation ability of the deathweb), looks like you wont take any damage, which means no Fort saves needed. Sorry about that.

No worries! I still forget about this every time I GM a game... the only reason I'm not forgetting about it now is that Siiska has DR when in ectoplasmic form, so it's pretty central to her abilities and 'reckless' RP behavior... PS: there's still a risk here, as you could roll a 6 on the infestation!!

Leon is OK with the 'pull Kal Drak out' plan, but he doesn't even have room to get adjacent to him. So he'll delay until space is available I guess. Would he need to do a reposition to pull that off, GM?

So the Entangled condition doesn't prevent movement. Here's the details:

Entangled wrote:
The character is ensnared. Being entangled impedes movement, but does not entirely prevent it unless the bonds are anchored to an immobile object or tethered by an opposing force. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

These webs aren't immobile or tethered, so Kal Drak would just have some difficulty with moving.

Don't know the exact rules, but if Leon does want to move Kal Drak, let's say it would either be a reposition or a drag maneuver.

Oh! Thanks, I was assuming I was immobilized. Kal will definitely stagger away on his turn.

Male Fetchling Fighter (Gloomblade) 8

I'll presume hat Kal Drak is no longer providing the deathweb with partial cover, since he's moving away. If that's wrong, modify as necessary.

As Kal Drak clears his line of sight, Aleks stabs at the deathweb.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Damage, Magical Piercing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage, Magical Piercing: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

@Kal Drak (and Leon), you're up! Are you going to attack first before stumbling away? Deathweb is still up.
