My apologies, but while I saw you write concealed, I don't see where that's coming from? I've been so busy since before Secrets of Magic released that I'm not yet super familiar with magus focus spells/abilities yet, nor am I familiar with monk focus spells.
From what you wrote in your last post, it appeared that you took 1 action to move with accelerated speed from a focus spell then 2 actions to disable the rune...right?
I used the monk focus spell Ki Rush to Stride twice for one action. It also makes you concealed. Sorry for not linking it before!
Menas Redwall |
So we don't wait on my actions, I'll post them here and allow the GM to roll them depending on the outcome of concealment.
If the troll deals no damage to me:
Menas strides over to the rune to his right and attempts to disable it.
Acrobatics +18+1
If the troll deals damage to me:
I will stride to halfway between my current rune and the rune to my right, draw a free lesser healing potion, and drink it for 2d8+5 healing.

Ah ha! NO worries! Rather than re-order all the rolls (since that would shift everything down by 1 for the whole post, let's find out together here!
Flat Check: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Hm, my eyes must be bad, I didn't see that...
Flat Check: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Looks like it missed you! :P
Menas Redwall |
No, but I definitely slowed things down a little because I saw the post about not being able to update before Monday and didn't check the threads all weekend.
I'll admit that I missed that during the conversation about concealment.
The Dire GM |
Okay...a day later than planned due to other stuff, but I am back. I'll check the gameplay thread and get a reply started in a few minutes! Sorry about that!
The Dire GM |
Recall knowledge might reveal more, too :)
Menas Redwall |
That is one heck of a Searing Light. 38 vs frightened 1 for a ton of damage. You might have just blasted him into dust. Now I wish I gave you flanking in case you're 1 or 2 points of a crit.
Yendi Ionescu |
Well, I gambled that fort DC would be lower than AC (it seems likely without a body), so it wouldn't matter if I could flank. If it's still standing, though, I think Ukh might have a decent chance of being able to change that.
Menas Redwall |
Oh, I guess that's true that penalties to AC wouldn't apply if you targetted a non-AC defense regardless of it being a spell attack roll. I'd be willing to bet that you're probably right about targeting the fort save.
Yendi Ionescu |
Well, I'm pretty confident about it being a better choice than reflex or will. Whether it's better than AC is a lot trickier to guess, but I enjoy the little meta guessing game of spell targeting from description, so I try to play it. Occasionally it goes wrong, but that's part of the fun.

Okay, that's 2.5 crises and a charity livestream through with, aaand now we're back! Post coming shortly!
Menas Redwall |
At the beginning of the scenario, I meant to hand out a Snapleaf to everyone, but I don't believe I ever did. I carry 6 at all times specifically to give out since most characters don't have an armor talisman.
In case it comes up, hopefully, the GM allows you to have one. They have saved the life of a few party members previously.
Menas Redwall |
To be clear, I'm delaying for now in case I get healed. I don't think my free healing potion is going to cut it. It I don't get healed, I'll probably cast my last mirror image spell to hopefully not die
The Dire GM |
Your GM's only hint to you at this juncture - be heroic! You have other Pathfinder agents out there, and you don't know when such an opportunity as this might happen again! :)
The Dire GM |
Thank you all very much for playing! I hope that you all enjoyed this scenario, despite the rocky start! I plan to get your chronicles together in the next 24 hours or so, and will send them out via email. Feel free to roleplay as you see fit in the meanwhile, and feel free to hit me up with any questions you might have!
