I once joined a WoTR campaign on these boards in book 3 ish, unfortunately the game folded a few months after. The GM cited issues with the mythic rules bogging combat down with very unwieldy stat blocks.

I love the idea of WoTR but wonder if GM Raven has any plans to streamline things if necessary?

I will be submitting Amelia here, She will be a very "sheltered" type, coming to the crusades alongside her uncle who was taking her up to the world wound despite her father having already told her no (several time, and, also, without his knowing)

Leaning archamage or trickster, depending.

Looking at either a full arcane caster, or a magus for archmage

and an eldritch scoundrel/ arcane trickster for, well, trickster.

Meraati We can adjust the Argent Voice to be demonbane, but keeping like for like, that would make it cold iron instead of silver. Unfortunately, the additional boost to an ability score was the one thing I said I wasn't open to in my post. A 22 in a score at 1st level is perhaps just a step too far, and you will be there soon enough anyway. You can reroll that selection, as it is void. Sorry. I will PM you shortly about some other options.

Jereru Yes, I allow archetypes to be refluffed.

CrisisChild Yes, I am open to VMC, though don't have much experience with it.

Storm Dragon While they may have interesting potential, the Occult classes are functionally 3PP to me - in that I have nearly 0 experience with them, and what little I have seen of them regarding balance and abusability (which there will be more than enough of to go around with mythic) was enough to make it easy for me to say no. Sorry. Also, I mentioned above that the game will follow roughly 80% of the AP, but there will be changes. I will not spoil what those will be, but trust me when I say there are certain scenes that I feel don't quite fit...

Storm Dragon / Fang Dragon My apologies, I addressed this in my Interest Check, but did not include it in the recruitment. We will be using Mythic Rules, but there will be some adjustments and dial backs to put some small measure of balance in place. I am still working on these and will likely not have them ready until the end of the first book, and even then, there may be further adjustments made during gameplay if something proves to be problematic. And it definitely will be a "numbers beast", but I have a background in statistics, so I am generally pretty comfortable with that.

Zahir Apologies, looks like I missed your first post in the shadow of my own post (you posted after the last post that I started responding to, but before my post actually went live, leaving it in a digital purgatory). I need to get to a couple appointments, but will post a reply to your question this afternoon.

Doot doot.

Not sure what i want to do with this. The stats arent spread enough for a 3/4 caster. Not sure i want to do a full caster or martial. And in terms of that only a paladin comea to mind here.

Ima need a good think.

Dawnflower dervish maybe? I can be more dex based then.

Thanks for the reply GM Raven, sounds promising, the Mythic rules are very flavorful but are quite uneven in power level so they need a little balancing here and there.

Anyway I think I'll stat up a paladin of Shelyn for this, got an idea for personality and outlook. An older warrior poet, slow to anger but through when necessary.

Edit: Let's roll some stats, hmm I can work with that.

3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2) + 6 = 14 13
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4) + 6 = 13 12
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) + 6 = 17 15
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4) + 6 = 16 14
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) + 6 = 17 15
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) + 6 = 17 14

3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) + 6 = 16 14
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5) + 6 = 18 17
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) + 6 = 18 17
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4) + 6 = 18 16
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + 6 = 17 16
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 6 = 15 14

....Yeah, I can work with this!

I'll be making a bloodrager so 1d10 ⇒ 3 I'll take average hp.

Range focused Fighter/Ranger for your consideration.

Corwyn Strongbow Male Human
Fighter (Skirmisher) 1, Ranger (Freebooter/Trapper) 1
NG
Mythic Path: Champion

Background:

Appearance: Corwyn is a short powerfully built man. He stands just over 5'4" with reddish-blonde hair and hazel eyes. As a scout, he dresses in drab colors that blend with the forest to include brown leather, medium greens, and gray. Corwyn typically wears a dark green cloak, soft leather boots, and a thin strap of leather around his head to keep his hair out of his eyes.

Personality & Motivation: Is a normally pleasant fellow who has a short fuse with those he deems to be rude or dishonest. He prefers to tackle differences head on and is not afraid of confrontation. His grandfather (papaw) was a scout for the military. Corwyn had great respect for this papaw and those who helped defend the kingdom. As far back as he can remember he wanted to follow in his papaw's footsteps. Corwyn trained with his papaw on fieldcraft and archery. Now that he is of age he is stepping out on his own to do what he can for mankind against the enemies of from the wound.

Allies & Associations: Corwyn is extremely close with his papaw who is now retired from the military scouts and his mother who is a laundress. His father was killed early in the last crusade and Corwyn barely remembers him. His mamaw (grandmother) is a baker. His papaw now assists her around her kitchen and keeps out the rabble.

History what was your character’s life like before today? He had a relatively good life given the proximity to the wound. His family has supported the crusades for three generations with the men fighting and the women providing support functions. He has friends in the area. Typical play growing up was fighting battles against the demons. When his papaw was available, Corwyn hung out with him to learn what he could. He started running messages for the scouts as early as age 10. He then took up making river runs and running wagon trains developing his skills with people and animals. Today, he is looking to take his place in scouting the War Wound and is ready to take the fight to the enemy.

FLAW: Corwyn assumes he is the smartest one in the room and will not hesitate to share his opinion if he thinks someone else is wrong. He understands his knowledge limitations but is often critical of plans of others if they do not provide adequate explanation. At the same time, he has a bit of a little dog syndrome and gets extremely angry when he feels a taller person is trying to use their size to intimidate those around him. He also is very competitive when it comes to taller people, tall people need to be reminded they are not special.

Freebooter's bane: At 1st level, the freebooter can, as a move action, indicate an enemy in combat and rally her allies to focus on that target. The freebooter and her allies gain a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against the target. This ability applies only to allies who can see or hear the freebooter and who are within 30 feet of the freebooter at the time she activates this ability. Replaces Favored Enemy.

Track: A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.

Wild Empathy: A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The ranger rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger level and his Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

Thank you for the change.

The question of good was in relation to the archetype's ability to enhance as if silver weapons, as that bypasses DR of devils.

Cold iron unfortunately does not for demons, only against fae.

Totally missed the rolling for stats-

3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6) + 6 = 17 16
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) + 6 = 22 18
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4) + 6 = 21 17
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6) + 6 = 16 15
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) + 6 = 21 18
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) + 6 = 14 13

Well, I won't say no to that!

Think I'll go for Magus, that or rogue/wizard into trickster!

3d6 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4) - 4 + 6 = 17
3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6) - 2 + 6 = 18
3d6 - 5 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5) - 5 + 6 = 17
3d6 - 1 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) - 1 + 6 = 10
3d6 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6) - 4 + 6 = 17
3d6 - 1 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) - 1 + 6 = 15

Not bad at all. May or may not be able to get something together but had to get the rolls out there just in case.

Weird. I understand not wanting to DM for material you're not familiar with, that's understandable, but I'm just wondering under what circumstances an Occult class could be abusable as written. My experience with them is that they are typically weaker versions of core/base classes. Psychic is a nerfed Sorcerer, Spiritualist is a nerfed Summoner, Kineticist is a nerfed archer, Medium is a nerfed...everything but this one actually makes sense because it's a flexible "jack of all trades" class, and Mesmerist and Occultist are solid, but basically nega-Bard and...Arcane Paladin, sort of? Respectively.

Combined with the fact that a simple Intimidate check is enough to render them unable to cast spells, and you have thematically cool but mechanically iffy classes.

I'd had some hopes of playing an Occultist who used artifacts of ancient heroes as his panoply (eg. a battered shield once used by Arnisant before he took up the Shield of Aroden, one of Arazni's old rapiers, stuff like that), but I wasn't too attached to the idea. I'll keep mulling.

I will be submitting Kevin Hurly I will need to update him to this campaign and decide if he will be going marshal as originally made or champion.

Been playing around with multiple builds, and couldn't quite find the historian Bard in a manner I was happy with. Played around with rogue some, but ended up with Inquisitor, not in the typical witch hunter role, but rather as a sort of church-based scout/defender. Almost a rogue cleric multi-class, but in a single class 20 level build. And my plan is for trickster for his mythic path.

It's technically a campaign trait from another AP, but would I be able to take Trap Finder to round out the rogue part?

My application, Kevin Hurly should be up to date and complete. I plan on going marshal as his mythic path.

Hm, maybe I'll make a particularly gish-y Druid, like a Nature Fang or something. I definitely have the stats for it. I never got to play a similar character "Hodawan Ashborn" in another campaign.

3d6 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 6 - 1 = 9
3d6 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) + 6 - 4 = 16
3d6 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) + 6 - 4 = 14
3d6 + 6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 5) + 6 - 3 = 15
3d6 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) + 6 - 2 = 15
3d6 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 5, 4) + 6 - 1 = 15

Interested. I'll kick around some ideas and see what I come up with.

Joska's appearance / personality / background sections are in place now. Sorry for going a bit long with them. It's a bad habit of mine.

I didn't directly state a particular flaw, but she has plenty of them. If you would like me to underscore a single flaw as the chosen one for the character I can do that.

Alternate roll instead of cha bonus: 1d100 ⇒ 9

Again the bonus. ^^

Attempt 2: 1d100 ⇒ 71, 1 a/day cannibalize a corpse.

I'll take option 3 from the previous, scent ability.

Having a closer look at the monk, it seems more difficult than I first thought. Not being able to take Vital Strike until 7th and Stunning Fist being dependant on two Attributes is a high hurdle.

Grappling, on the other hand, is boring to me, since I've played lots of grappling characters already in different games.

My initial idea (Warpriest+Myth Vital Strike) is already taken.

Any inspirational ideas, out there?

Meraati You rolled it twice? Damn! If you'd like to replace Shatter with something more appropriate, how about Hideous Laughter or Oppressive Boredom? My other thought was there is an alternate ability that is a bonus to diplomacy, would that be appropriate? As for the Devilbane to Demonbane, low tier Devils have DR "silver or good", mid tier have DR "good", and high tier have DR "silver AND good". Demons are built out the same way, but substitute cold iron for silver (to name a few: dretch, bremorak, incubus, shadow demon, succubus). So the cold iron option will definitely benefit you. And we can consider further options for evolving your bardic music if you are selected.

Oblivion Yes, you can take Trap Finder if you would like.

Zahir The short answer? No, there is no true way to know if I am in this for the long haul. Hell, I could be an agent of WotC sent to sow discord among Paizo's community. Corporate espionage!

I am excited about the possibility of embarking on running an AP on this board, with the knowledge that it will take several years. I cannot guarantee what will transpire in that time, but I am committed to trying to make it happen. You understand that, I mean, you ran a campaign that spanned 3 years and surpassed 4500 posts, but in the end you ended it because of life getting in the way. None of us know what the future holds, but I can promise a good faith intent with this AP.

Now, if you'd like to know a little about my gaming background and my short experience on these boards, read on.

a brief background of me:

I have been gaming for a little over 20 years. My first introduction came in the form of the board game HeroQuest. We were away for summer vacation in the mountains, and my older brother and his friend had this exciting new game they wanted to play, but there was only two of them. So I got roped in. I was already involved in youth theater and like any child had grown up playing make-believe with my toys. HeroQuest wasn't much different. When my brother and I were younger, my princesses and fairies would go on adventures with his GI Joes. In HeroQuest we had a mechanic for how they accomplished their deeds.

Very soon my brother and his friends got involved in D&D, and little sis got brought along for the ride. They were definitely boys only games that I was left out of, but as I went from being a kid to a teen, I was less little sister and more part of the group. Sure I was relegated to being the healer most of the time, but I didn't mind that. And as we got to know third edition more, my clerics became pretty darn powerful.

My older brother and his friends all went off to college, but by that time I had also pulled some of my other theater friends into gaming. Around this point we discovered Vampire, the Masquerade, and being angsty teen goth kids (I grew up on Anne Rice’s vampires, not those shiny Twilight things), we dove right in. I got my first experience storytelling then, and even though in the years since most of my GM experience has been in 3.5 or Pathfinder, I still view the role as more a storyteller than a Game Master. Throughout high school we explored a lot of systems, but focused mostly on 3.5 edition and vampire.

At 18, off to college I went, and so began the task of finding a new gaming community. I unfortunately ran into my first case of gamer trolls in the setting, where being a female meant either I had to constantly defend my place there as a ‘real gamer’, or I was simply there to be eye candy and the butt of lewd sexual comments and actions in game. Luckily I found other friends, again through theater, who were also into gaming, and abandoned that scene fast.

In the decade plus since college, I have gamed with a mix of friends spanning across all three of those groups, plus a few additions we've met along the way. In that time, I would say a third of my time has been spent as a GM, with the other two thirds as a player. I enjoy crafting a story and empowering my party to explore, challenge themselves, and be creative. Not everything has to be a slaughterfest (though those can be fun too).

After relocating for work in 2015 and having limited access to my past gaming groups (only one able to play via skype at the time), I made a foray into the play-by-post scene on paizo.com. I had known of its existence for some time, and figured it would be an easy way to play. Sadly, that was one of the periods when the website was auto-logging people out and going down frequently. So one of the games we exchanged email addresses for. One of my fellow players took it upon himself to make the gaming experience very uncomfortable for me, then pushed it further in emails. I requested he stop, he refused, so I blocked his email. He simply started bombarding me from other accounts, and doing the same to my mailbox on Paizo. So I closed that email and left the paizo boards, having been active for less than 3 months time.

In 2019 I tried to make a return to the boards, and within days, he popped back up in my direct messages. Sure enough, I turned away again.

Before returning this time, I tracked down his account and saw that he has not posted in over a year. Given that timeline, I have decided it may be safe for me to re-enter the water. Seeing that there weren’t many recruiting games, I figured I would throw my hat into the ring. So here we are.

I fail to see how a tiefling cannibal could possibly cause problems in this AP.

By the by, GM, if you find you're having an experience like that from some manchild again, you can actually turn off direct messages. It's a kludge solution, but one that could work.

Hey GM, would you be open to the possibility of fractional BaB? the premise is that each class gains a fixed BaB per level, d10 HD+ gains +1 Bab, d8 gains +.75, d6 gains +.5. You add these together to get your total BaB modifier (rounding down)

So, a rogue 1/bard 1 would normally have +0 BaB, however using fractional BaB they would have a +1.5, effectively a +1 BaB, a rogue 1/bard 2 likewise would have a +2 Bab under fractional bonuses instead of a +1.

Also, would you be open to allowing the bladebound archetype for the magus to work with a ranged weapon?

Why would someone waste their time doing this is something completely beyond my knowledge.

Now, if you want to know more...:

I started playing when I was 14 - a friend brought a copy of The Call of Cthulhu" and we tried investigating some weird mysteries... Though I have to say there were quite bloody and sexual games. I mean, what could you expect?

I got to play a bit of LotR and AD&D during high school, though I lived quite far away from my friends so what I did a lot was create game worlds and NPCs.

It was during University that I went all-in. Because, honestly, no one goes to University to study :p

20 years later, I keep meeting my usual gaming group, though with had some reinforcements and casualties over the years. We're currently on a Descent to Avernus Discord game.

As to my style, well... I like action, though action should always have a context and a development. Strength without control is useless (unless we're talking about Hulk).

Silver Crusade

It looks like you have enough submissions to choose from, but I've had this concept developing for some time
Roll 1: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 6 = 10 > 9
Roll 2: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3) + 6 = 18 > 15
Roll 3: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6) + 6 = 19 > 18
Roll 4: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4) + 6 = 16 > 15
Roll 5: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4) + 6 = 14 > 13
Roll 6: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5) + 6 = 17 > 16

This is fine.

HP at lvl 2: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Backround:
His parents were cultists and he began to find their cult disturbing as he grew older. He decided to run away into wilderness, but was discovered by leader of the cult who was going to sacrifice him. As the ritual was about to begin, a squad of crusaders interrupted and killed the cultists. Their priest recognized the plague-ridden teenage boy to match an ancient prophecy, which foresaw "fiendborn man", whose heritage was an offense to demons, joining the crusade. Scholars agreed that a foulspawn tiefling fulfills the prophecy. He was then raised by the priest despite objections of community. Short after he began having dreams of joining the crusade himself.

Personality: Sees himself as the "chosen one", kind-hearted, withdrawn. Due to his heritage, religion has always made him feel odd dissonance, like at the same time drawn towards worship and feeling of uneasiness and uncleanliness while in religious places.
Neutral good Life oracle, Deity: Lorris (Empyreal lord). Hierophant mythic path seems solid choice.
Appearance: Gaunt build, saggy and scarred skin

Variant ability instead of SLA: +2 to either acrobatics or diplomacy.

Flaw: Not just ugly but revolting sight to behold (thought this would work with wasting oracle curse)

My time zone is UTC +3 so posting times have usually been little behind in forum games. Started to play Pathfinder society regularly in Aug 2016, first PbP in late 2019. Currently GM in Scions of the Sky key -trilogy.

Scarab Sages

If we're sharing origin stories I'll paste mine from a thread over in the Pathfinder general discussion that was going a little while back:

I played a little AD&D back in the mid-eighties, junior high and early high school. It was plenty of fun even though the games never amounted to much as campaigns. I don't think we ever actually finished a module before moving on to another one.

I hadn't though about RPGs at all in decades afterward. But then I stumbled across an article in Slate Magazine: All I needed to know about life I learned from "Dungeons & Dragons"

It reminded me of the game, and it had been lots of fun. I sort of caught the bug again, but there was no way my schedule would allow for starting again. In any case I had no idea how to.

About a year later, 2015 I believe, I stumbled across a Pathfinder Society event at a game store down the street. When I realized what it was (a new version of D&D) I tried it out. PFS also worked with my schedule.

I switched to PbP games here later on for the story continuity of campaigns, which I prefer.

Im starting to want to make good on my threat in the recruitment thread and make an ulfen beast wrestler feral striker so i can tombstone balor and choke slam erinyes.

Endgoal is RKO'ing Demogorgon out of nowhere.

Hmmm but looking around ita a body builder contest as is.

I didn't directly state a particular flaw, but she has plenty of them. If you would like me to underscore a single flaw as the chosen one for the character I can do that.

Just went looking for a good support build, since support is the character type I've played the least. Saw Perfect Aid, and I knew what I had to do. Always got it to fall back on, even if I don't have any spells left.

Yikes that's awful GM Raven, here's hoping that pathetic creep is gone for good.

Anyway here's the background and appearance for Ser Michael of the Rose a human paladin of Shelyn.

Appearance:
Of medium height, Ser Michael has a light, athletic build. His short raven black hair is well kept and his face is always cleanly shaven no matter what. He has an easy manner, his chocolate brown eyes are sympathetic and his smile is infectious. His breastplate is buffed to a mirror polish and is engraved with Shelyn’s rose, similarly his midnight blue cloak is embroidered with a rose. In informal situations he is often seen carrying a rose rather than a sword. In combat of course he is armed with his glaive which is as well tended as the rest of his gear.

Personality & Motivation:
Ser Michael has a warm personality, although he’s prone to gallows humor when the going gets tough. He still views himself as an artist rather than a soldier. The demons are a blight on the land that needs to be purged but this is a serious duty and the glory is an illusion. As befits a follower of Shelyn he has quite strong beliefs about redemption, in the grand scheme of things there are very few who truly can not be saved.
His interests include painting, poetry, history and the arts in general. As for quirks he’s quite eccentric, battling demons one moment and picking flowers the next. Art is therapy for him and he often paints in the evening or after a battle.

Allies & Associations:
Historically his family have been associated with artists and their clientele. I.e. knights and aristocracy. It was always intended that Michael would get to meet them too but he got swept up in the crusades and his closes associations ended up being his comrades in arms.

Build:
TODO! I’m away from my main computer which has Hero Lab, but in broad strokes I’m thinking of cranking the Shelyn angle up to 11 with Virtuous Bravo Paladin using a glaive and Bladed Brush building towards Devoted Muse.
I’ll get the build sorted soon.

History:
A great many people form an army, but some almost never fight yet are vitally important: the camp followers, doctors, ditch diggers, seamstresses, prostitutes and even artists. Like my father and my grandfather before him I’m an artist. Three generations of painters catering to the needs of knights and the gentry: cameos of loved ones, stirring battle tableaux, portraits of officers in their parade ground finery, that sort of thing.

I trained in arms of course but I never really expected to fight anything harsher than a matted paint brush. Of course that was before Ser Vega's ill-fated campaign. The old man was quite famous at the time, still spry aged fifty and he looked resplendent riding his destrier in his mirror-polished armour! Ser Vega had seen samples of my work and wanted somebody to record the upcoming campaign for posterity. The pay wasn’t great but the opportunity seemed too good to miss and besides at the time it all seemed rather romantic, going off with shining knights on a grand crusade.

At first things went well and the company scored a number of quick victories against cultists and lesser demons from the world wound. Ser Vega was mostly pleased with my depictions of the battles but at times to my chagrin he insisted on alterations, more and bigger enemies, him at the head of the charge breaking his lance on a demon, the adoration of the troops. Lies, Ser Vega rarely left the command tent and he was none too popular with the rank and file.

As the campaign wore on, we pursued a horde of demons across a mountain range. Progress which had been swift before, slowed to a crawl, casualties mounted. Ser Vega took it poorly, becoming increasingly frustrated forthe demons never let him bring his superior numbers to bear. Always they retreated, raining arrows, dung and opprobrium down on the crusaders.

This had carried on for weeks until we came to a hidden valley where the ground was flat enough for cavely. Ser Vega, believing the enemy had made a mistake, was keen to mount what he described as a decisive charge. ”Michael” he told me, ”This afternoon there’s going to be a glorious battle. Take your easel and follow the pioneers, they’ve scouted the best vantage point you can imagine. The juxtaposition of the snow clad mountains and the lush valley grasses provide the perfect backdrop for a wide canvas with the cavalry smashing into the massed ranks of the enemy.”

Ser Vega explained his plan in detail and I could picture the scene in my mind, it sounded glorious. Naturally his battle plan didn’t last the initial engagement. As some of his officers feared we’d been lured into a trap. The sides of the valley were vertiginous, topped with a scree field thick with boulders. As the caverly charged the retreating force, all of a sudden cow horns brayed and with a sound like rolling thunder an avalanche smashed into the cavalry sweeping them away like rag dolls. To make matters worse a fresh force of demons we hadn’t seen marched up behind, threatening to trap us in the valley.

From my vantage point I could see this all too well, far from documenting a glorious victory, I was about to witness a rout. Something snapped within me, I couldn’t bear to just stand and watch. I’d borrowed a glaive to help anchor my easel in the blusterous wind and I snatched it up and raced towards the fighting. I found Ser Vega on a grassy knoll beset by demons. Around him was a pile of corpses, men and demons alike. The old knight was making his last stand, pressed by the emaciated form of a Babu with several lesser demons snapping at his heels. He was outmatched, outmanoeuvred and on his last legs and he knew it, yet stubbornly he refused to yield. Hollering to grab their attention, I charged the knot around Ser Vega and by pure luck I managed to skewer a Dretch with my Glaive. The Babu screamed an obscenity at me, a fatal mistake it had taken its eye off Ser Vega who ran it through. A Babu doesn't die easily though and it raked Ser Vega horribly before it died.

I snatched up the fallen standard and ran to the old man’s side. He was mortally wounded but managed to converse for a while before he died, saying "You are a man of hidden talents Michael, where did you learn to fight?"

"On the way sir, from watching you fight. Your squires helped too, they thought I ought to know how to defend myself."

He nodded weekly, "You've acquitted yourself well but the day isn't over and the situation is dire, my folly has killed us."

Floored I begged, "Is there nothing to be done sir?”

By now a sizable crowd of foot soldiers, many of them wounded, had rallied to the standard.

Ser Vega was coughing blood but managed to master himself enough to address the men, ”Not an officer among you… Never mind, Ser you are now in charge, your orders are to fall back to Mendev.”

I blinked in surprise, "Me Sir?"

"A field commission Ser Michael. You've got the gift of command, I've seen it, the men will follow."

The old man had a sudden sharp intake of breath and his face contorted but he spoke his voice was steady, ”Some of us, myself included, will never make it down the mountain, we’d be a hindrance. I want ten of you to volunteer to stay behind to buy Ser Michael time and take down as many demons as possible while we still breathe!”

Ser Vega asked for ten, he got fifteen. In private moments later their courage moved me to tears, not all of them were wounded although several couldn’t walk. I glanced up the hill, the demons were massing and I spoke to Ser Vega for the last time, ”Good luck Sir! I think we should be off, the demons look about ready to charge."

"Aye that they are”. agreed Ser Vega, "Oh and Michael, do a old foolish man a favour, burn the worst of those paintings, the ones where I made you lie. When you're back in Mendev, draw me that canvas of this battle but don't hold back, tell the truth of it."

”Uh I guess so sir…” I was troubled by this, destroying art was an anathema but many of the paintings were indeed lies and this last commission was an opportunity to set the record straight, so I reluctantly agreed.

A cry went up from the demons and then there was no more time for words, I had fifty men to save. We hurtled down the mountain as fast as we dared, and time and again I had to call the column to a halt to pass awkward terrain, a fall would kill just as asuradly as any demon. I can only assume the rearguard fought stumbonly for they won us ten minutes which in the end was enough. The demons had their victory and didn’t seem interested in pursuit, I can only assume they wanted us to live and spread word of the loss, ruining morale.

I was determined that not to happen, I wanted Ser Vega’s story to be known. So weeks later in Mendev I bought the largest canvas I’d ever worked on and I drew the battle of the hanging valley. With the charge of the lancers, the avalaunch and of Ser Vega’s noble last stand. It was the best work I’d ever done, but when it was done I couldn’t bear to look at it, too many lives had been lost, where still being lost. Something had to be done, or the cycle would drag on forever.

So I, a painter, decided to hang up my easel and go to war.

Flaw:
Ser Michael cares too much, he knows he’ll never be a good commander, he’s over protective of his friends and anyone in his care. A good commander is willing to spend the lives of the few to save the many, like Ser Vega did in the end. Deep down Ser Michael knows he would have hesitated and gotten everyone killed.

Amelia Yes, I am a fan of using the fractional bonuses for multi-class for both base attack and saving throws.

Jereru started with Cthulhu? Oh, that will twist a soul. Now I am concerned about what you may submit! J/K

Wow, I am very excited to see all the applicants thus far. Keep working on your ideas, and everyone please take note of my "flaw" request under 'character fluff'. Thank you.

I am mostly finished with my build. I'm just waiting for you to get caught up with your PMs before I can post my character with its changes. I'm certain you have a lot!

Alright, cool, as it stands, I've narrowed down my potential biulds to-

Rogue1/Magus(staff magus)10(possibly wizard, but leaning magus because I love the class to death)/Arcane trickster X? (trickster or archmage)

or

Bard(arrow song, magician, or regular), possibly into arcane trickster trickster mythic path, Possibly with a cheeky paladin dip for RP. (paladin of Shelyn)

despite other builds being potentially better overall (such as eldritch knight instead of trickster) I don't see Amelia being what one would call a "melee powerhouse"

Shes very much (originally) designed around being rather timid in combat to start, I'll likely keep that aspect at first, as I enjoy the concept of a character coming into themselves so to speak. Though she -is- fairly confident in her magic possibly more than she should be, and loves to put on small theatrical shows. Though the latter she isn't as confident in.

Even with all of that, I don't see her as someone that would run to the frontline/melee unless others were in danger. Even then, she is hesitant. I'll continue working on her.

If anyone wanted to give their thoughts/input on Amelia and which build may prove better in the long run (I've never played with mythic nor WotR) I welcome you to do so!

I have known my fair share of Agents of WOTC over the years, so that wouldn't be a bad thing.

Let me see what I can put together.

Ok, this is Ouachitonian's submission. I think he should be done, but if you see anything that needs fixing or further fleshing-out, let me know. I’m aiming for the Archmage path, though I’m also planning to take Dragon Disciple and be more of a gish than a pure arcane caster. If you’re aiming to have the normal Fighter, Mage, Thief, Healer, you probably don’t want me to be the only Mage. I know that probably hurts my chances if you’re only picking one for each Mythic path, but I’m willing to live with that.

Okay. So I think I have the crunch together. Just need to work on backstory and the like. I'll also roll for my hp.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Favored Enemy At 1st level, a ranger selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures. At 1st level, a Tanglebriar demonslayer must choose favored enemy (evil outsider). At 5th level and every time he advances his favored enemy bonus, the demonslayer must advance his bonus against evil outsiders. In addition to the normal benefits of favored enemy, a Tanglebriar demonslayer gains a bonus equal to 1/2 his favored enemy bonus on saving throws against spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities of evil outsiders. This ability is otherwise identical to and replaces the favored enemy ranger class ability.
Track A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow or identify tracks.
Wild Empathy A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time. The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.
Combat Style Feat At 2nd level, a ranger must select one combat style to pursue. The ranger's expertise manifests in the form of bonus feats at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites. The benefits of the ranger's chosen style feats apply only when he wears light, medium, or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style feats when wearing heavy armor. Once a ranger selects a combat style, it cannot be changed. If the ranger selects crossbow, he can choose from the following list whenever he gains a combat style feat: Deadly Aim, Focused Shot, Precise Shot, and Rapid Reload. At 6th level, he adds Crossbow Mastery and Improved Precise Shot to the list. At 10th level, he adds Pinpoint Targeting and Shot on the Run to the list.
Rapid Reload Choose the crossbows or thrown group listed under the fighter’s Weapon Training class feature. You can reload such weapons quickly. The time required for you to reload a weapon from the selected group is reduced to a free action (for a hand crossbow, light crossbow, sling, or halfling sling staff) or a move action (for a heavy crossbow). Reloading no longer provokes an attack of opportunity. For all these weapons but the heavy crossbow, you may fire that weapon as many times in a full-attack action as you could attack if you were using a bow.
Precise Shot You can shoot or throw ranged weapons at an opponent engaged in melee without taking the standard –4 penalty on your attack roll.
Rapid Shot When making a full-attack action with a ranged weapon, you can fire one additional time this round at your highest bonus. All of your attack rolls take a -2 penalty when using Rapid Shot.
Stolen Fury You were forced to take part in a demonic ritual as a youth after having been captured by cultists. Whatever the ritual’s purpose may have been, it didn’t work out the way your captors envisioned—rather than corrupting your soul, you absorbed the ritual’s energy and made it your own before you escaped to safety. Ever since, you’ve been haunted by strange nightmares about the ritual, and have long felt that the energies it bathed you in have changed you. Recently, those energies have changed— it’s as if you’ve finally managed to come to terms with your past and have turned the ritual’s aftereffects to your advantage, following the old adage of what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. You’ve been unable to learn more about the ritual or what it was for, but the question lingers in the back of your head to this day. This nagging has instilled in you a fury against demonkind. Today, when you face demons in combat, those energies bolster your fury, granting you a +2 trait bonus on all combat maneuver checks against demons.
A Shining Beacon You carry a burning hatred in your heart for all things demonic, and have studied their weaknesses carefully. You deal an amount of additional damage equal to your weapon’s critical hit modifier when you score a successful critical hit with a weapon against a demon. This damage is added only after the damage is totaled, and is not multiplied by the critical hit multiplier.
Faith’s Hunter When you confirm a critical hit against a favored enemy, you may extend the duration of any divine spell affecting you by 1 round. The benefits from multiple critical hits stack. Divine spells with an instantaneous duration can’t be extended in this manner.
Skilled Dravan gains 1 additional skill rank at 1st level and 1 additional rank whenever he gains a level in ranger.

I love WotR, like I mentioned in the interest thread.

I parked the character idea I mentioned before as I would actually rather build him as an evil character, should I ever get the chance.

Instead I'd like to submit a Half Elf Unchained Summoner using the Soulbound Summoner archetype and the Stolen Fury campaign trait. She'd actually take the Dual Path feat as her first Mythic feat and will be a mix of Guardian and Archmage.

The idea here is that the ritual my character was exposed to nestled within her, haunting her dreams. In time she managed to hive it form so she herself could better deal with the nightmares until that form become so real that it started to manifest as a physical being. As such her eidolon is a Demonic in form yet it's alignment is the same as my character, Neutral Good. A side effect for my character is that when she is excited for any reason any word she utters turns into Abyssal, sometimes without her noticing (Extending the Pactbond Curse of the archetype into a flaw, if that's ok).

The character herself is a bit of a grump and a cynic, at least at the start. While she understands that her affliction is a scary one so close to the Worldwound she would have expected that the locals would have gotten used to it by now. She was the victim of kidnapping by cultists and was then exposed to some demonic ritual, she still suffers the scars from all that and yet, somehow, she's the bad guy. She has been arrested and interrogated by the local Witchhunters several times despite them knowing who she is and what happened to her. In fact she has gotten so fed up with it all that she intends to leave Kenbres after the coming Armasse (the event going on when the campaign starts).
Her reasoning being that while she wants to support the crusade they pretty much make it impossible for her so she's better of leaving.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Oh well. After much research, I think I've finally accepted that I'm taking many, many sub-par options.

But it doesn't matter, because that's what The Iron Fist is all about.

Human Unchained Monk (Invested Regent)

Mythic Path: honestly, whichever no one wants. Champion would be perfect, but there's already like 400,000 champions, so... maybe Guardian, for the resilience. Or Trickster for the flexibility. I could always trade the powers for mythic feats.

He will charge his powerful fist attack and one-shot (yeah, what else) the enemies of the Crusade! (through Vital Strike and Stunning Fist)

Now, one question: do you allow the feat Ability Focus to be applied to Stunning Fist?

Jereu wrote:

In mythic campaigns that's almost certainly the right thing to do, IMO at least. Imagine how broken Ishta for example could be with all the mythic metamagic feats.

actually, I think I'm going to go back and go arcanist, school savant for extra spells. As the more I tweak the backstory, the more I think keeping her very much bookish, well read, and magic focused fits the character better. Despite likely lessening chances for selection.

Hmmm... I would love to have her find a sentient grimoire for her mythic stuff, but I doubt thats anything remotely close to what happens. Though, maybe I could flavor it something similar somehow.. thoughts for later.

Though if we really need a support type, I can probably swing a magician bard.

Nazard's submission: Ryarg Gravemaker, dwarven Bear Shaman Druid (and possibly also World Walker haven't decided yet) who will go onto the Green Faith Acolyte prestige class. He will follow the Hierophant path of course.

Ryarg focuses on summoning bears and later wild shape into bears, with a bit of blasting in reserve. His 3 16s and a 17 allow for some buff physical stats for getting into the fray.

An extensive backstory can be found in his profile, but the short version is: born on the day the Worldwound opened, his people were forced to flee and keep fleeing as demons expanded outwards, eventually falling in with some druids. Neither party liked each other but mutual protection and all that. Ryarg fell in love with nature worship and his people kicked him out for wanting to be an elf (their words, not his). Still, he was happy until the Third Crusade came along and tried to burn him at the stake. Some bears saved him and he fled, bonded a bear, and established himself a reputable business crafting fine fruit and berry wines, which he's in Kerendas delivering for Armasse. Oh, and his animal companion, the grand sire of his original bear companion, is a hopeless drunk if Ryarg forgets to lock up the liquor.

His flaw is two-fold: a vicious temper whenever confronted with anti-druidic bigotry and a need to prepare his spells in a combination of underground and natural wilderness environments (or a nice cave in the woods does double duty).

Cuan interesting concept, I look forward to seeing how it comes together.

Amelia from what you have written thus far, I agree that arcanist is a better fit than rogue/magus. Excited to see how it comes together.

Ryarg damn bears, always getting drunk when the world is coming to an end...

Jesus Christ there's a lot of competition here... Good competition. I get the distinct feeling I may wind up not making the cut.
