I went and checked and I DO have SoD! I bought BGEE, way back when, and it apparently came with it. I've just never played it. Dumb me. :P
@Elena: I believe if you buy BGEE, that SoD will come with it. I think all the DLC comes with it. I think that's right, anyway.
Both GOG and Steam will have it.
I never used Safana either. Uninteresting. I used Hexxat for a while, but she was just too lame for me. I like vampires, but she just wasn't interesting. You're not kidding about her, Grumbaki. She was just no good.
And that's interesting to hear about Khalid and Jaheira. I typically let Khalid get killed because I don't really like him. He was annoying to me. Plus, it's the only way to keep Jaheira. Same with Dynaheir, so I can keep Minsc. Just don't like those two. They're lame.
I'd like to keep Viconia, but she's evil. She won't hang around with me having a 20 Reputation. She'd be better than Branwen. Who's very annoying. But I have to use her until I get the dwarf cleric.
I'd like to see those maps you're talking about, but I just can't play evil. Not in a video game, anyway. I've tried. It's TOUGH. :P

Grumbaki |

yeah, it is tough. I too find it very hard to play evil. Luckily his quest had enough options for humor in it that I could get past it.
Of course they look much better when playing it. But the heaven one especially was a nice change of pace. Plus…I got to modify the heavenly book of vengeance, and have the angelic hit squad get sent after Noober instead of us. :) Though it’s a hard choice between him and Saemon Havarian.

Javell DeLeon |

Lol! Noober! Man, that dude is annoying. I so wanted to throw rocks at him. So funny though. :D
I don't know Saemon Havarian. Never heard of him.
And those maps are cool. Especially the Heaven Map. The Resurrection Gorge? Does Hexxat get "resurrected" or something? That'd be kind of interesting. Probably not, but if so, that would be a neat twist.

Grumbaki |

Ah sorry. It’s Dorn’s BG2 quest.
In BG1 it’s personal vengeance. His old gang sold him out to the authorities and he wants help hunting them down. It’s a fun quest, gets elven chainmail as a reward (chain armor wearable by rogues and fighter/mages). You can kick him out after the quest is done and you don’t need to do anything evil.
In BG2 it starts off with his demon patron demanding that you kill a cleric at a wedding and then slaughter some paladins. Then he demands dorn goes to Resurrection Gorge. It turns out that the demon is trapped there, and the druid tree is corrupted. Wonderful map, somewhat creepy. You can kill the patron’s rival (and get a devil killing sword), betray your patron and get a new one (and get a demon killing sword) or kill them both and lose all of his blackguard powers.
The third map? Heaven is sending a hit squad after Dorn due to all of his crimes. So you plane shift into Heaven to change the book. When you succeed you can swap the names. Saemon is an NPC who keeps screwing you over and teleports away to safety no matter how angry you get. This option kills him as a Planetar shows he to destroy him. Likewise if you choose Noober you meet him again and see the Planetar come down to destroy the ‘great evil.’
Yeah…Dorn’s quests are evil.
Hexaat has gorgeous maps as well. But her quest line is so g!+ d@!n stupid. She is a vampire and doesn’t want to be one. So she is doing quests (teleporting to random tombs getting unexplained macguffins) so a liche can kill her. I lost IQ points forcing myself to go through with it.
——
Interestingly enough, Viconia in BG1 can be given the Helm of Opposite Alignment. It’s found after beating Durlag’s Tower. It makes her alignment good. This works for any evil companion you want to use.
In BG2 if you play as a human or half elf you can romance her. It can shift her alignment to be neutral. I think she is the only evil companion that has an alignment shift.
I’d also recommend anyone in BG2 keep Korgan (CE dwarf berserker) and Mazzy (LG halfling barbarian). Korgan is a horrible person all around. But with Mazzy you get his actual backstory, find out why he is the way he is, and get to see a side of him that is hidden beneath the anger and trauma. It made him one of the best written evil characters ive seen.

Javell DeLeon |

Note to self: Hexxat is a bust. :P
And I think I actually did Dorn's quest in BG1. But I never have in BG2. Now I'm gonna have to. At least, try to. Tough to kill paladins and a good cleric. That's gotta kill your reputation to some degree, I would guess. *shrugs*
But that is interesting about Viconia. Durlag's Tower IS A BEATING. Fun, but man, it is magnificently tough. Gonna remember that about the helmet, though. For some reason, I never thought of doing that with an evil npc.
And I love Mazzy. She's awesome. And I'll keep that in mind. Korgan and Mazzy on the same team. Got it. An interesting pair. CE and LG. That's funny.
They do mention Aerie getting irritated with him because he is constantly talking trash at her. And then you have to get rid of one or the other, I would guess. Probably shouldn't pick up Aerie if that's the case. She is pretty handy, though. Hard not to pick her up with all the spells she gets.

@Bharak you were prebuffed with Bit of Luck, you can roll your attack rolls twice and take higher!

Axton Vendian |

"Surprisingly attractive mummies!" Axton exclaims.
Cutting his narrowed eyes toward Axton, and wondering if the mustached man has finally lost his mind, I knew it was coming. Just a matter of time,
Okay, but did you see the map icons DBH used on the map? He used this image.

Javell DeLeon |

@Axton: Yeah, I got nothing either.
OH MY GOSH! FREAKING HOTTIES! I did not see that. LOL!
Wait, why are we killing these chicks?! Shouldn't we be asking them out on dates, or something?! Crap, I'm playing the wrong guy in this game. Where's Lothan when I need him? He would totally hit these chicks up for a date. All 3 of them. And then he'd ask if there were any more? ;D
I have this guy in another game(Lothan, obviously) who was pretty confident - he always is when it comes to him ;) - that he was about to get "lucky" with a vampire hottie. Yep. He was ready to rock and roll.
But you know what happened? Yep. You guessed it. She tried to eat him. And he wound up screaming and yelling - and banging on a locked door - for his team to come save him. Eventually they did. They had to think about it, though. Initially they were thinking the noise was due to "events" but realized that wasn't quite the case. He's kind of a snobby fellow. ;D
Did I mention he was buck naked? And with no weapons? And all he could do was run around the room when he wasn't banging on the locked door? LOL! (Strange Aeons. Man, that was funny. She just about bled him dry). LOL! :D

Elathras Narcinal |

Just something that came to me randomly. Who hasn't used the Tome of Clarity for the +2 intelligence yet?
Elathras hasn't, but no rush

As a heads up. I’ll be traveling for 2 months. Will have an eSIM, WiFi and my phone. So I’ll be posting regularly, but if I’m slow please forgive me.

![]() |

Gm, should i roll the confirm rolls for those 2 nat 20's you rolled against yourself of the ants' AoO's?

GM_DBH wrote:Both the demons attempt to summon more Vrock'sAlso, a moot point, but my understanding is that summoned creatures can't summon further creatures.
Not actually summons but close enough so I had them vanishing when killed.
They were bought here using the Planar ally spell and their combat tactics said they try to summon on the first round.

![]() |

Gm, what does it mean that Elena and Axton recognize this statue? It it a religious figure or diety? Is it someone they actually know from the area/our travels? As if it is a statue of an acquiantance, i think Elena is smart enough to suspect there might be an unknown source of petrification nearby.

GM_DBH |

Sorry I should have put that in there.
Axton and Elena met this person briefly on the first day of joining the Pathfinders.
It should have said the third statue is of a beautiful half-elven woman armed with a sword and a hooked club.
The third statue, of course, is Koriah Azmeren, as any PC who met her during the start of the Shattered Star Adventure Path can immediately recognize.
You met her in passing back at the Heidmarch manor, and yes suspecting a source of petrification is very wise.

![]() |

Okay, thanks.
You asked for any ongoing effects; Elena currently doesn't have them other than the performance. She can, however, dismiss the performance to grant one person in range a saving throw reroll and she has her daily luck domain ability to reroll a d20 once per day as a free action. She will hold into both for when we face whatever might have/likely caused the petrification.

![]() |

Oh, I forgot to mention: if Elena suddenly has to roll against an effect that is likely to cause petrification (she probably would know from her knowledge if she sees it coming?) she will also use her lucky horseshoe daily ability to add a +3 bonus to that save.

Javell DeLeon |

Also, @Vhane you can assume she either has performance still active or that she will reactivate it before firing. You should have the +5 hit/damage and +1d6 sonic damage from her buffs on attacks when you shoot.
Got it. Except for the 1d6. I keep forgetting about that one. Did get the others, though.

Elathras Narcinal |

A4 is the only area you haven't opened. Very tough lock. Has a permanent Arcane lock spell on the door making it DC40. Also the outer walls are smooth and impossible to climb without magic.
I was thinking it was A4 and A10, or maybe you mean places other than A10, I'm not sure. Obviously, I need to drink more coffee, I'll get a real post up once I've done so.

Lvl 12:
Savage Technologist Barbarian (5)

Saves: None
BaB: +1
Skills: +5
Stat: +1 Str (19)
Rage: +1 (FCB) +2 (Class) = +3

All in all? Not much. But it’s a good building block for future levels.

1d8: 1d8 ⇒ 8 :O First time above average in 9 levels!
+1 bab, +1d6 channel, +2 6th level spellslots (mislead (D) and heal).
+1 wisdom.
FCB: +0.5 use of bit of luck per day. (10.5).
Skill points: I'll do this later, want to check the total ranks first.

Bharak Slagsun |

Made a mistake. It’s Barbarian 6 this level. Therefore… +1 all saves. Also got a rage power. “World Serpent Spirit (Your weapon counts as chaotic, evil, good, lawful while raging)”

Axton Vendian |

I forgot to add my favored class bonus this level-up, and I'm not confident that I did it last level, also. I'll need to go back and re-calculate when I get a chance, so I may add a couple more spells to my spellbook.
Add one spell from the arcanist spell list to the arcanist’s spellbook. The spell must be at least 1 spell level below the highest level the arcanist can cast.

Javell DeLeon |

I was gonna help you Bharak, but all I rolled was a 7. Obviously that wasn't gonna get it done.
I couldn't even come up with a reason as to how it would even be legal or what I would do to aid you that sounded good. Even if I would've rolled way better, I felt stuck on how to go about it.

Bharak Slagsun |

It’s all good! Sometimes there just isn’t anything that can be done. :)

Axton Vendian |

Gang, I'll be travelling all day on the 27th, and will be unable to post, most likely. Once I get to my destination, I expect to be able to post as normal or close to it.
I've restored Axton's spells assuming we're resting in the tower overnight. I've also healed him up to full hp assuming we'll get healed. But if I'm wrong and need to roll that back, he was at 67 hp.

Bharak Slagsun |

Question…Bharak is immune to both fatigue and exhaustion. Does that mean he no longer sleeps? Because sleep only comes when you get tired…

Axton Vendian |

Elena, why do we want Koriah to come with us? Is there a story reason, or are you just hoping for a sixth person in our party? I'm not against it, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Ooc, I'm curious to see what happens if she accompanies us rather than immediately disappears from the story by escorting her father out. She offered to stay if her father was safe, so why not? She is apparently a level 12 ranger too.
Ic, Elena feels sorry for her and wants to see/help her regain her confidence. Also she is a female pathfinder and the group has been a saucage fest since Uma left :')
That said it is mostly for my curiosity. If she is outvoted and we rather have her away from us then she would accept that.

Elathras Narcinal |

I'm cool with it either way. It's a busy weekend and will try and get a post up soon, but didn't want anyone waiting for a response.

GM_DBH |

Koriah is happy to stay with you. All she wants to make sure of is her Father being safe.
She does relent a little and suggest getting him to Sandpoint will satisfy her. Sandpoint is 60 miles south of the Abbey.
Ok, looked at the gameplay thread and have posted there.

Bharak Slagsun |

Neat idea, I wouldn’t have thought of it. :)

![]() |

Well, that's a really nice chunk of cash! I dont think a wand of cure critical wounds will see much use in this party, though. Is there anything the group would have wwnted me to get while in this city? One option perhaps is to sell that and instead buy a fully charged wand of haste or fly.
