Hello everyone this is my construct profile, as part of the playtest I have come across some questions but so far these are more flavor/lore than actual mechanical questions and I'd like the GM input here.
How smart the construct can be portrayed? I like to role play my pets, like my familiar with the speech ability and is a lot of fun, but how much of a personality a construct companion can have? Can it make funny commentaries or jokes? I don't think so, can it even speak? In no part is stated what languages it can talk but common sense tells me that it at least understand it's creator first language.
Would it get smarter? While it becomes more autonomous by getting a single action even when no commanded it's intelligence score never rises, so it actually becomes more alive? Or just more efficient? Both? Is up to me the player to decide how to role play it?
In a more mechanical level, it's trained in perception so it may spot something that it's inventor didn't, if so can it communicate that to the party? How? As per written it can't speak but may it point things out with an appendage?

I'll move us on tomorrow, give time for Frayley to introduce themselves.
As for the construct, I guess you can add whistles or any other attention making noise you like, it's expressions can be created any sounds or gear like motions it makes. Any old sort of Steampunk thing or if you know of 'Wallace and Gromit', short animated film characters, they had some fun machines...

@GM - I am playing at another table with Ms. Bloodrive and they did not show up after the Paizo forum failure last weekend. Long story short I found out that Ms. Bloodrive also is playing in SFS game where they shared their email address with GM who send them an email.
So far no news, writing just FYI and that we might need to bot Erika short term

Yeah, I had to delete my Paizo cookies to log back in. Had to email customer service to find out that's what I needed to do.

Can everyone tell me their default Exploration activity, I forgot to ask for it in the beginning.

Elanna will use the avoid notice exploration activity. She also has the terrain stalker(rubble) feat which may help somehow. But I'm not sure how the activity and feat combine, as I've seen nothing in the rules for that.

If Anjo finds tracks, he will Track. If he doesn't find tracks, he Scouts.

@GM - Get better mate!

Sometimes you just have a bad day and your brain just feel cloudy. I kind of try and take the pressure off and relax. Those days are not the best for thinking about what to do in games.

![]() |

Happy to let Frayley try the Survival or Nature check. Because Rangers get ZERO bonus to tracking, my 2nd level Ranger is no better than a 1st level Monk.

![]() |

1st level Monk or a Swashbuckler ;) It seems like a fun class to play but so far Makai is the most selfish PC that I ever had. He is useless outside of combat...

![]() |

Happy to let Frayley try the Survival or Nature check. Because Rangers get ZERO bonus to tracking, my 2nd level Ranger is no better than a 1st level Monk.
It doesn't help that my level 1 Monk is more like a ranger than a monk anyway. I took a kind of sideways build with them between the Monastic Archery and the free dedication feat for my ancient elf heritage.

![]() |

Well, in 2nd edition, a Ranger no longer does much that is Rangery. Add to the fact that Paizo went and added a bunch Survival/Nature based skill feats that anyone can take, and a lot of classes can be more far more outdoorsy than the Ranger.
Really, 2nd edition has reduced the Ranger to a combat gimmick: Flurry or Precision. That's it. That's really what a Ranger has become, Flurry, or Precision. Then saddle the class with Hunt Prey which becomes a repetitive collar and throw in one or two unique feats (that you can probably get with a Dedication).
I'm hoping that the class somehow blossoms at some point, but I'm not seeing when that's going to happen. I was thinking it might be at lvl 10 when Paizo has clearly expected people to retcon er...retrain into Master Monster Hunter. But I had Monster Hunter all of 1st level and it was essentially pointless. Even with it firing all the time, I'm not sure it's worth three feats.
I will say....the addition of Focus Spells does add a dimension, despite how pitiful they are.

Another night of GMing ... so many games so little time ... will post tomorrow.

I thought you were targeting the one on tyop of the mound, its the only one you had direct line of sight to.

Just as a note, on the other table, the characters had a much harder time, not only with the trip down, but also in the fight, several getting very close to falling, however they prevailed. The persistent damage was much more scary as characters failed their checks to stop it. Sometimes it's just the dice!
Your stealthing into the cavern for the fight was really the redeeming feature as it enabled you to get much closer than just storming in, that plus the duergars bad rolls.
Hi I rolled Earn income for you .... and it's a good one!!!
Earn Income Legal Lore (Int) - trained 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Downtime is after the quest so you earn 2 days income.
On a scenario you earn 8 days income.
Essentially 4 quests is equivalent to 1 scenario, in terms of XP, money and earned income.
Thanks for playing the quest, hope to see you all around the boards again. Really enjoyed your characters, special liking for Mikai for getting tangled in a bola bolt .. :-)
The certs are now available here
Please get back to me if there's a problem.
I will archive the campaign on Friday.

Thanks for the game, it was a lot of fun.
I didn't realize quests were so short but it makes sense as it suppose to last just one hour at a table.
And Elanna got to use Undercommon which is strongly linked to her background, so that was cool.
I've checked the chronicle and it looks fine for Elanna.

@GM thanks for the game, the chronicle looks good. However I noticed that I think I never rolled to earn income for Makai, but I couldn't see other rolls as well :(
Earn income(absalom lore), DC14: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 I can add this value to the chronicle.
Thank you all for the game!

After giving it some thought, I will be rebuilding Makai to something else. I like the swashbuckler class but I feel like this is a very 'selfish' kind of PC. He brings very little to the team besides fighting capabilities and some CHA skills.
And I think due to that I did not enjoy it that much. I have another concept and I will make Makai a warpriest where she (yeah Makai will be a dwarven female ;)) will be in the thick of battle but on top of that, she will have religion, medicine, and some other skill on top of that. As well as a tiny bit of extra healing and spells. Playing around with religion will give me also more ideas for RP.

![]() |

Yeah, Makai didn't get to use the skills that much in this quest, but there are others that would make Makai shine more, which do more with charisma based skills. Having said that, battle priests seem to be a pretty good option to stay in the thick of battle and also have helpful skills.
All quests are different and because they are small, (4 quests = 1 scenario) they often don't give the options for different classes to shine. They all do a bit of skills and an encounter.
I liked the quest Grehunde's Gorget, if you haven't done that.

![]() |

I actually did play Grehunde's Gorget and I liked it a lot. To be clear I did not make the decision to change Makai based on this quest only as I know that sometimes you will be a wallflower when providing flanking is the best you can do ;)
I played Makai as a swashbuckler in 2 quest and I analyzed his skills while finishing 2 other scenarios. And I basically wondered what I could accomplish in those. And the outcome was not satisfying ;) So I decided to go for something more useful for the team ;) I still have plenty of games to play before Makai hits level 2 ;) So I will experiment how I like warpriest.
BTW. I really liked the fight in this Quest, The setup is really good, where the enemies have the high ground and solid range weapons. I can totally see how this fight could have gone south. Finally relying on darkvision and possibly using stealth I loved it!

Thanks GM. Out of curiosity, how much downtime gold do you get if you roll a 22 as a 2nd level on a Quest?

![]() |

@Anjo 1 silver piece.
You can find job of level (your lvl -2 ) => so task level 0 in your case (just like on 1st lvl). Following the table Earn income DC is 14. 22 is a success which means you get 5 cp per day. Quest gives 2 days => 2cp x 2 = 10 cp = 1sp
