Familiars come with so much random rules baggage, I would probably say no.

Do you have a specific goal in mind? She's never going to be someone you can order around, regardless of what feats you take, but if you are looking for a specific kind of "feat-like" or "arcana-like" effect that features Abby, let me know and we can hammer something out.

edit: yeah, looking at the arcana list, there's a ton of effects to base your "basic power level" on, so if you want to pitch an idea for a new arcana that uses Abby, let me know.

Alternatively, if you DO want a familiar, I'm sure you could scoop up something amusing from the floor of a Fey-infested Tree.


And to pre-empt the other conversation, I wouldn't want Samen to add an archetype that changes his character mechanically and narratively without a huge story reason (it's funny, everyone calls him a "warlock" in the sense that he traffics with suspicious elemental powers, but he does not have a patron like a ordinary witch/warlock is assumed to have), so no thanks to hexes :)


Unless Samen, you want to do something crazy like bind her to your soul and get some spell-like wind powers but she would also control you sometimes, we could make that work. But I don't think Samen is quite that insane(?)

I believe our companions from my previous table will be joining us in discussion soon - we may have as many as 3 or as few as 1, depending on RL schedule.

Some of these PCs are the Blessed you've heard about. It's amusing how different the varying impressions are concerning the Blessed - what you guys think, the population at large thinks, what "really" happened, etc. Just want to be clear from the get go, one of my steadfast rules is:

A little bit of IC bickering is fine, but ultimately the Avengers (or whatever example) come together to fight on the same side. No PvP. More discussion/ conversation / etc is always a good thing, especially when groups are changing. My goal is for all to feel welcome and have fun.

So for my feat, I'm just going to take skill focus (spellcraft). Samen doesn't have a particularly elegant fighting style, and it seems like his role is 'magical expert' right now, so as boring as it is, this seems like as good an idea as any.

As for the magus arcana, I'm really struggling, since almost all of them are "spend an arcana point for a short term combat buff." How would you feel about rebranding Arcane Scent as Elemental Scent, whereby I could smell the presence/direction/power of elementals instead of casters?


Haha, yes I like that a great deal. So it will be more long-ranged (I'm not going to specify, but definitely more than 60 ft like vision-based detection spells are), but less precise.

Oh the axe has the option to learn a new language since its int went up.


In the same vein Kallik, I think you had Creak before, so the axe would be appropriate to learn Rasp now. (let me know if that is accurate)

Egret is no longer directly accessible to you. After the kidnapping attempt, you have ways of contacting Bian, and she can set up an eventual small meeting for you in a public place, but Bian is essentially the caretaker now, unless Kallik decides to give up the axe and the adventuring life for good.

Hi Kallik -- the last you remember, you were all trying the diplomatic route with the inquisitors of Moon in the city of Light, but things went wrong (and this part goes beyond what we did in PbP) and you did some damage to their magical / alchemical facilities before you came baco to Hearth.

Tonight, it is expected that the forces of Moon will approach / attack Hearth (Moonrise / Moonfall)

Currently, you are all making last prepartions for the battle tonight, and inspiring the populace, etc.

The powerful tiger beside her, striped in green and deep brown, with the occasional deep violet flower sprouting from his thick mane, matching her own lush verdant hair intersperse with the odd deep purple iris, watches each of the elen present, occasionally glancing back at the huntress, almost as if reading her thoughts.

Having felt somewhat overwhelmed by the teleportation process, she was content to remain silent, learning as much as she could of the strangers. Now resting quietly before they moved forward, she looks over at Kallik, sensing the volatile oread’s emotions were in turmoil.

Khallik and Sequoya get the last two potions (he gave his own one to Sophia). Inam should be fiiiine (pally saves and volcano backing). Does anyone, including the other group, want to ring? And was he able to get some alchemical potions from the mithral makers.

The moon madness seems to mostly impact Sylphs and Undines, so I figure I should probably be fine, barring natural 1s.


yes, you were able to get a generous crate of will-enhancing potions from the Makers. They trembled at your presence.


Someone with a high Spellcraft should take the ring. That would be the most effective user.

Kallik, your arcana and spellcraft are high enough that you don't need to roll:

Ghost-touch would be very effective against the general illusion / blurring / trick tactics Moon would employ.

And yes, I would think casting from the axe is a standard action.
