Sounds good. I'll see what happens, it looks like there's light at the end of the tunnel but I'm not holding my breath just yet.
It's been a pleasure.

The order that I put things in my list is pretty much the hierarchy of what I'd like, with the one exception that anything cool that the GM likes should be at the very top, instead of the bottom!
An animated shield might be nice as well, although not the most cost efficient way of boosting my AC! In terms of numbers, I usually just spring for +1 effects across the board, with the exception of my armor, which I usually like to make spell storing, that way the baddies get punished for hitting me.
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Abnaki approaches Kylen. It was going to be hard to talk to him about this, especially after the events of this morning, but he had to swallow his pride and try.
"Kylen. I'm sorry about this morning. In fact, it's because of that absolutely disgraceful display I put on that I need to ask something of you."
Waits for an affirmative
Kylen, I'm sure by now you've heard that there's going to be an event of sorts tonight. Moonfall, Moonrise, whatever you want to call it. And I'm also sure you've heard that I will be on the front lines, fighting against it. I need to borrow your Sikke.
Waits for an outraged reply, or stony silence.
"I know this is a lot to ask for, but strictly speaking, I'm not strong enough. I need to have every edge if I'm... we're to save this city. My performance this morning proves that. You know that I'm better than that, and the Sikke provides consistency, power, knowledge, all in one parcel. You're in the Swords. I know you care about people. Help me to have the strength to help everyone."
Diplomacy, which I do through perform oratory, so if I had the hat I could take 10 on it :) .: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
Hubristic Efreeti |
Kylen sits through your speech, subtle signs of boredom and contempt on his face behind his bland attention.
"The words you speak are true, Abnaki v'Cardi. Yet I cannot consult myself on the matter, having been so recently slighted by your actions. Instead, I will consult the gods." He pulls out a small bone that has been whittled into a triangular prism. Divine Benthic runes decorate each of the three sides.
"If it lands on the Giant or the Mother, then I will give you nothing. I give you a single chance- the Depths." He shows you a side carven dire warnings and ugly faces.
3 is good for Abnaki: 1d3 ⇒ 3
As the strange die rolls and stops, Kylen's face sneers for just a moment, then returns to normal. "My servant will bring it to your tent within a quarter candle. Good day, Abnaki v'Cardi." He looks away from you, and begins to play his đàn bầu.

I'm fine with the party splitting - we might even get a day's worth of activities done in a reasonable amount of time this way :)
As usual, I'm not going to bother using spoilers, because a) I think it's more fun when everyone gets to see all the different things happening and b) nothing "secret" is typically happening. If there is an important or personal piece of info, then I will likely put that part in a spoiler.
Hubristic Efreeti |
Ok, so basically I want to make sure you guys are getting your WBL as we eventually transition from 8th to 9th level, so:
1) Each of you: Pick out 15,000 gp of equipment. If you are upgrading like a cloak of resist from +1 to +2, just pay the DIFFERENCE between the two.
2) The things from the previous list this guy does NOT have available: spellstoring enchantment ; page of spell knowledge ; book of loremaster
3) If you are still look for those last two Abnaki, you would be able to find a different vendor after we get done at Old Owl Eyes.
Hubristic Efreeti |
And this includes Gabriel, even though you are not in the scene. This can be RP'd as Samen "finding" a few items that will work nicely for Gabriel that gets added to the store credit.
And this doesn't have to be done right away. All 3 of you can take the weekend, talk it over, you can also use Samen's 10K, etc. This guy will have all the basic enhancements to weapons, armor, most potions, etc.
Abnaki, if you are still looking for those other 2 items, that is what we can RP next once we are done with Hoot, but again no rush.
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Dervish Sikke is 10000, so I'll cap it off with a wand of CLW, a traveler's anytool, a cloak of resistance +1, gloves of reconnaissance, and 5 pieces of soul soap, which I'd distribute out amongst the party.

Boots of Striding and Springing and upgrading my dueling sword to a Keen dueling sword. with 3500 leftover
Samen Vloe Firenze |
Sorry it took me a while to respond, the website kept eating my logon attempts.
10k - upgrade staff from +2 to +3
3k - upgrade chain shirt from +1 to +2
3k - upgrade cloak of resistance from +1 to +2 (using 1k banked cash)
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Confirming! Also, I spent a few hours today looking at past campaigns you've run in this setting, and I want to say I think it's incredibly impressive that you both created this unique world just dripping with character as well as integrating both current and past characters so well into the world. Thank you for letting me be a part of this campaign/world!

Unrelated, but I'm trying to plan for the future:
-An amulet of constant airbubble should cost about 4000 gp, but is a custom magic item. Thoughts on that GM?
-Secondly, does anyone know a good way to get immunity to fire through feats/items? (Or at least enough fire resistance to not need to worry about lava?) Closest I can find is through a ludicrously expensive item set. RAW, 1 point of fire resist is enough to make you immune to lava through an artifact of the rules, but I think we can all agree that seems a bit ridiculous!
Hubristic Efreeti |
It depends on where you want to use your air bubble I think :) Then I'll let you know reagents and costs. Hoot would be a good person to talk to.
As for fire immunity, RAW I can think of a few random transformation spells that might do it. In game, that's another thing you'd want to talk about to your local spellcasters. Likely getting an audience with a high ranking priest will do the trick.

The reason I ask is that someday, I'll get earthglide. I think you can see where this is going, but I'd like to be able to breathe while underground, and as earthglide specifically states that it works in lava, I'd like to find some way to leverage that without immediately dying :)
Gabriel Izalith |
other than magic items, nothing that would work into your build, oracle of fire gets the immunity by 15, sorcerer as well gets a lot of access to resistances
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Found the two items that might help. Very pricy, but the ring in particular is very flavorful!
Might that ring have something to do with Abnaki's mixed heritage?
Hubristic Efreeti |
Hi All!
Long story short,
-When I ended my previous campaign (A New Beginning), we all agreed to check up in about a year (which is about now)
-I PMd them, and 3 PCs (Kallik, Sequoya, and Ibinu) will be joining us at this table -- at least for the "Moonrise" encounter for the short-term. We'll see how schedules, etc line up in the long term.
-I also think I will be botting Inam (the 4th PC, the one who scolded Abnaki before)
Samen Vloe Firenze |
Sounds good! Let's hope they're not bad guys!
Hubristic Efreeti |
Wow time moves quickly. Rechecking my notes everyone should be Level 9 by now. You did an epic battle of mirrors and golems ; foiled one of Moon's plans ; stole some riddles and caused a little chaos ; interrogated an inquisitor ; prevented a riot in the streets ; gotten the attneion of the Council ; and, perhaps most importantly for the upcoming battle, inspiring the whole of Hearth with a tale of inspiration and courage.
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Very neat! Admittedly level 9 is basically a dead level for me, but it is a prerequisite to getting to level 10, which has a bunch of cool features that I want. On the plus side, I do get an actual burrow speed at this level, which is nifty!
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Leveling complete, not a whole lot to do! I got a burrow speed, the ability to cast glibness, a new bardic performance I'll never use, and a point of fort. What did other people pick up?
Gabriel Izalith |
i wont be able to level up until my day off on friday, but suffice to say gabe gets A few things this level
Samen Vloe Firenze |
I haven't taken the time to do a deep dive, but I get a feat, a magus arcana, and a point of Reflex.
Abnaki v'Cardi |
I might delay the burrow speed by one level to grab a feat I just found called Fey Performance. Thoughts on that Hubristic? I feel like if anyone would qualify, it's probably Abnaki.
Hubristic Efreeti |
Abnaki, I feel like you should just HAVE that feat now for free, especially since you lost your AC bonus. My one change to it: the tremor/etc part of your bardic performance will still never be greater than 30 feet, since adding AC negative AND attack bonuses in a huge range it just too much :)
So feel free to use your feat on burrowing instead.
Samen Vloe Firenze |
I could use my arcana to get a familiar, and the feat to get improved familiar and make Abby my familiar.
I don't know what it would do mechanically or even narratively, but it seems like it would be interesting. Would that even be allowed?
Abnaki v'Cardi |
Do you use spell recall at all Samen? I don't know if this fits your flavor at all, but I think my favorite magus archetype (hexcrafter) overlaps with your other archetypes without conflict. A couple of witch hexes could really put some pep in your step, or some evil in your eye as it were. I'm sure that there are some hexes that would fit your mad experimenter theme more than a magus arcana?
--
All that being said, isn't Abby basically already an improved familiar? I just always kind of assumed she was yours.
