Hi All! Please introduce your character briefly :)

We've got 3 players from the "Forged in Blood" table, and now 2 new players that have just joined.

This will be the spot to talk about characters a little bit, and work out a little shared backstory (I think the idea of Osna and Phon Vo being mercenaries will work well -- having you two be friends/allies would be good ;; and I think having Iniga as a shared contact would be good. She has been to many places in the Land and has spoken to Army, Temple, and mercenary alike, so it is plausible you've all crossed paths)

Just ideas for now -- we can iron it out here.

Background info copied from recruitment tab:

Though gifted with brute strength, Samen would prefer nothing more than to spend all his days holed up in a laboratory performing elemental experiments. He has a heretical theory that all elenity was cursed in some bygone era to possess the various elemental aspects. There is more that they have in common (basic physiology, language, emotions, etc..) than true differences. He has tattooed himself thoroughly with various elemental symbols to channel his magic and understand the impacts and interactions of the elements.

He started out the prior campaign as NG, but fell to true neutral when trying circumstances proved out his selfish nature. Performing gruesome elemental infusion experiments upon animal subjects, then incinerating them when finished probably didn't help ;).

Recently, he has developed the ability to communicate with extraplanar elementals to further his studies, as well as take on the form of elens touched by elements beyond the basic four. Most see him as monstrous (partially due to his 5 charisma), and with his willingness to corrupt his own essence, they might not be wrong.

It doesn't seem likely that Samen would've encountered either of them, unless they spend time in the library or magical reagent shop.

If they're mercenaries, would they have been at the winter meet, or would they have been in a division stationed in Hearth the whole time?

Also, I had a question. Since this is a new campaign, can we level-set our equipment to the 23k gp of the new folks? Right now I'm running at about 9k gp worth of equipment plus the communal 11k that we hadn't spent yet. I don't know what Ingia and Wamblee are at, wealth-wise.

Hi all,

Here is Osna, a sylph born and bred in the city of Hearth. Son of gifted bookbinders, he "stumbled" on a way to teach himself arcane magic without going through an academy. Armed with this unsanctioned knowledge, he made his career as a burglar to feed his destitute friends before being caught and put to work for the city's "good".

Since then, he's been working in the city mainly but also outside on occasions to uncover infiltration by forces from the Dark or unmask corrupted people.

He's very good at finding items or secrets and getting where he is not supposed to be.

As for common background, from where I had Osna in his background, he could clearly have been sent a few times to the front for rescue or scouting missions against the Dark, even if that's not the thing he prefers. He could also be sent to uncover conspiracies from within cities.
I'm not sure how mercenary companies work in this world but Osna could also have been sent to join one of them for the last few years as well.

I do not think he would have competed at the winter meet as he is not a true magus per say and does not wish to enter into competition with them or be noticed to much by them. However, Samen could have seen him in the library or at his parent's workshop.

Hey there, Phon Voss (Vo? Vess? Not sure yet, 9 more posts to decide). An Undine from a zealous family who decided that she was going to use her natural talent of weaving and unweaving magic as a way to protect others after losing someone dear to her. A specialized warpriest with a focus on countermagic, she hunts the corrupting influence of The Dark; a path that was given to her almost by blood.

Not knowing the fates that befall the others in her family who have done the same journey, she works as best she can as a mercenary for hire, hoping to fund her studies.

She is fairly well traveled and could easily have met others here. Whatever really works best into the story. I'm fine with working with Osna in advance if they'd like to, she doesn't seem the type to be moving about alone when she could be traveling with others and making her natural gifts work.

I was doing a little reading and saw that you dislike War Priests in the setting, what can we do to make this not be a sore thumb? Also what are the War Priest bonus languages and Favored Weapons of the deities here?

I'm still unsure on my second Blessing, but I'll decide once we get a better feel here.

It looks like there could be some interesting interplay between Samen and Phon. Our goals are very similar, to learn to understand magic/elementals and why they're disruptive, but our worldviews are very different. Samen is tends to think secularly, seeing the gods as just very powerful elementals, whereas a war priest presumably has a more religious outlook.

Is Phon a disciple of River, Volcano, or the pantheon more generally?

F Undine Warpriest (Disenchanter) - HP 17/59 - AC 21 - FF 20 - TAC 12 - CMD 22 - Fort +9 - Ref +5 - Will +13 - Init +2 - Perc +21 - Bless 6/6 - Fervor 0/8 - Sac Wep 8/8 - Sac Arm 7/8

More general pantheon I would say. I like to learn about the world as I play in it, so it would be a better way for her (and me) to get a feel for everything. That being said, she has the ability to channel all 4 major elements with sacred weapon and sacred armour so I can see the pantheon aspect making more sense. It's also why I took more general blessings such as Knowledge and Rune (which can again, channel all 4).

She is more on a warpath to figure out the Dark and what it is, I've always been of the mind that belief powering divine casters is a concept that isn't always explored too well. I've played a lot of religious characters built around providence, but I haven't done one in such a way where it is a general concept and a pantheon.

Also, what Knowledges do we already have? I did take Cosmopolitan to grab more Languages and Knowledges and can adapt to what we have.

I also realized that at 8th I'll be getting another Attribute boost but nowhere to put it. Might drop my Cha to 7 (rounding it up at 8th to 8) and put up Dexterity by 2 even though it doesn't do much with Heavy Armor.

I've invested heavily into linguistics. I think I know all the known languages and even a few unknown ones at this point.

Beyond that, I have knowledge: planes, history, and arcana.

So I was given the go-ahead to give a broad summary. This is condensing 4000+ posts into one, so there's a lot of details left out. This is just a broad covering of the important actors and scenes that might be relevant.

The campaign started out with Samen, Wamblee, and our other two siblings (Marianne and Samoon) on the run from an agent of the dark after our father had died under mysterious circumstances, leaving us each a highly enchanted trinket.

As it turned out, our father's murder was orchestrated by a wealthy man from our suburb of Forge. He gained some hint that elementals were going to start being more active and knew that our trinkets contained elementals. Meanwhile, he was dabbling with a different elemental that ended up getting the whole town destroyed.

We went to Forge to collect our father's estate, and we ended up killing the man (Rentwyrth) in the process, who was attempting to hinder us. The agent of dark ended up being his brother (Erret), who also wanted the elementals for the power they represented. He kept respawning no matter how many times we killed him.

Fugitives from Forge, and with our hometown destroyed, we went North to get advice from the Oreads. Along the way, we learned more about the elementals and how to communicate with them. Samoon had a Star elemental (I don't think we ever got a name), Marianne had a Smoke (Fire/Air composite) elemental (Abbigailwy), Samoon had a Mud (Earth/Water composite) elemental, and I had a Dust (Earth/Air) elemental (Stof). The Star elemental was generally reluctant to speak, Abby is capriciously homicidal and ended up killing off all three of Rentwyrth's children (Joseph, Bree, and Krissa) as some sort of demented favor to us, Obdurate is super wise and/or prophetic, but speaks at 1 word per minute, and Stof is pure hatred and wants to kill of all of elenity.

We make it to the Oreads, but Erret showed up with an army of darkspawn and forced the entire underground tribe into refugee mode. Instead of trying to kill him via traditional methods, this time we sicked Abby on him, and she basically ate out his brain, rendering him of animal intelect. She left and told us to meet her at the Breathless Valleys for answers. The best the Oreads could do was send us to the great library at Branch. We learned more about the elementals while we were there and met up with a mercenary company that was headed to the Winter Meet, where we thought we would be able to meet up with our Father's old tribe.

There, we met up with Iniga, who was investigating a secret organization akin to the illuminati (Efreeti Tango). Part of the initiation was to summon an efreet (basically a demon), and graft its skin onto your own. We encountered an ifrit inquisitor of that organization (his name escapes me at the moment) who had been sent to "negotiate" with the Oreads by threatening them with an artifact of massive fire damage (a severed hand of an old saint). First we foiled his scheme and took him prisoner, and later we had to save him from the mercenaries and Oreads who wanted him dead. There were also some Fey, characterized by Gem Magic, who had possessed some Oreads and were trying to start a war between the Oreads and the Ifrit of Hearth. We had to save him from them too. Samoon abandoned us at this point to go to Light to try to figure out how to penetrate the Breathless Valleys because he was convinced Bree (who was already dead) was waiting for him there. Meanwhile, Iniga ended up mastering the use of the hand and united the tribes into the "Tribe of Peace", Wamblee won a race and started dating a princess, and Samen won a magic tournament.

We went back to Branch so Iniga could learn more about the hand. While there, Stof taught Samen how to drain natural life out of creatures and infuse them elemental aspects. There were mixed results with the experiments, but they universally smelled bad when incinerated. Especially the Water-fish. I offended some naturalists with that one.

From there, we went to Light to try to catch up with Samoon. Joseph had beaten him up and stolen his Star elemental from him. We conspired on how to retrieve it from him, which was difficult because he was a wealthy and super-intelligent batman-like villain. Iniga started flirting with him to try to manipulate him.

Meanwhile, on a warning from Obdurate, the rest of us started investigating some strange behaviors around town. "Cwmwl", Maker Script for cloud, is an alchemical substance that completely neutralizes anything Dark related on contact. The secret to its formula had been discovered, and it was in mass production. Over exposure to it caused Sylphs to enter a trance-like hivemind intent on the production of more Cwmwl. We managed to convince the head alchemist of the danger. We met up with the inventor of the formula (Byron), and with his help were able to neutralize a football field sized stockpile of the stuff. An inquisitor, Ky La, showed up to stop us. He was unique in that he was an elen of Moon, not Earth, Fire, Water, or Air. He was a historical, religious, and physiological impossibility. We overcame him with much difficulty. Unfortunately, the stockpile we took out was only one of many. It achieved critical mass, and Moon himself entered the world as a new god, marked by a silver smiling face in the sky over Light. All of the residents of the city went mad nearly instantaneously.

Abby showed back up in Krissa's body (having hollowed it out earlier), informed us she killed Joseph and took the Star elemental, and suggested we get the Volc out of there. Stof was able to mass teleport us into the Breathless Valley, which is some sort of space/afterlife place where many elementals live freely. Stof's price was that Samoon had to stay behind, which he was fine with.

From there, we got teleported to Hearth. Samen started experimenting with infusing himself with various elemental essences, and has played with being a Smoke elen, a Moon elen, and taking the form of an efreet itself. He has chosen to get involved with Abby intimately, though it's clear both of them are using the other in hopes of gaining more power. Iniga has been trying to get the council of Hearth to buy into participating in the Tribe of Peace and rooting out more membership of the Efreeti Tango. Wamblee didn't really have a lot going on during this episode. Marianne left a note and a drop of blood saying that she had figured out that all powerful magic items existed only through sacrifice. She was being called out to by her god, a black raven, a remnant of Sky, and was summoned back to the Breathless Valley by him.

Thanks for the summary Samen!

I know there are a few questions in the thread -- I will answer tomorrow, but for now keep up the great conversation!

I think we will start by the end of the week -- a few more days of ironing out details, goals, etc, all that good stuff!

Hey everyone!

Iniga has access to Geography, Nobility, Local, and Religion knowledge skills. Nature is probably the main knowledge skill that we are missing I think.

Iniga bounces around / travels quite a fair bit. Technically, she was/is a sort of spy that was in charge of keeping an eye on any domestic unrest. For example, if a bunch of ifrits were causing trouble somewhere, she would head out to investigate. Currently she's off on her own sort of mission - trying to unite the races together against the Dark. Probably long term she wants to be political in Heath (her home) but that might be beyond the current scope of the campaign.

Also like Samen I'm kinda under WBL as well. I'm roughly at 9K.

Hello! I'll swap my History for Nature if you'd like, it's just extra studies and the natural world fits as well for her backstory and thoughts.

I will have to read that summary over lunch because it's a lot right at this moment. Thank you Samen.

Hi again,

Thanks Samen for the summary. I see you've been very busy and that the cosmology has changed a lot.

Osna has Knowledge local and limited Dungeoneering and Arcana.

Looking at Iniga's storyline in the sumary, I would propose that her and Osna have already worked together when she has been back to Heath before. Since she's been working at fighting for a better recognition of sylphs and that she has been busy trying to ferret out conspirators, they seem to have a lot in common. Specially about using means outside standard/legal channels for the common good. Osna could have been a contact recommended by the Temple or by Sylphs members of her organization.

I'm glad to see you all discussing skills etc. I am perfectly open to Osna and Phon Vo making minor changes like that so the party works well together.

1) Regarding wealth: I'm going to say that Samen and Iniga aren't going to get any new items out of nowhere, especially since you have party funds. I keep a "wealth" document to make sure I'm not short-changing you on wealth-by-level, and I include things like "Abbygailiwy's Kiss" as part of your wealth (since it is basically a slotless item that gives you invis once per day)

I'm always willing to listen though -- if either of you (Iniga or Samen) are feeling like your characters are truly deficient in items (especially any of the "big six") just let me know.

Edit: I forgot Marianne had a Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds, so she would have left that behind when she left. So that's another piece of wealth for the party :)

Aaand edit edit: I haven't given you guys new wealth for several months, and I'm reading your posts closer now and you are thousands of GP short of where you should be.

So here's what I'm asking for:

A) tell me a few items (like upgraded weapon or armor enhancement, etc) which will get you closer to appropriate WBL.

B) I will work it into a brief narrative, as you have spent about a week in Hearth courting contacts and making allies, etc.

Phon Voss, the warpriest thing isn't a HUGE deal, so don't worry about it :) Really the biggest thing is:

--Raise Dead and similar spells that bring the dead back to life won't be available.

I'll get back to you on appropriate language, etc, and more details about gods tommorrow!

Female Ifrit Skald (Fated Champion Red Tongue) 7 | HP: 52/52 | AC: 15 (10 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +10, CMD: 20 | F: +8, R: +3, W: +5 | Init: +7 | Perc: +9 , SM: +12 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: none

Looking at the big six items, Iniga really wants a Headband of alluring Charisma +2.

The Runes of Old Coven / Runes of Old Faith are a little out of her price range at the moment, so if I was looking at purchasing any other items, I'd probably look at a Circlet of Persuasion, and a Gauntlet of the Skilled Maneuver (Dirty Trick). The Circlet, Gauntlet, and Headband bring me up to about 21,000 gp.

Male Neutral Oread Magus (staff magus)(Elemental Paragon) 9 | Arcane pool: 6/7 | HP: 65/65 | AC: 18(+stf bonus) (12 Tch, 15 Fl) | BAB: 6, CMB: +11, CMD: 23 | F: +9, R: +7, W: +10 | Init: +2 | Perc: 2, SM: 2 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: None. | Spells: 0th: AS, Det. Mg, RoF, Arc. Mk, RoF 1st: (Elemental) Frostbite 3/3, Det. elem 2/2 2nd: bladed dash 2/2 Frigid Touch 2/2 Shatter 1/1 3rd: Infuse Self 2/2 Planar Inquiry 0/1

In addition to his current 9kgp worth of stuff, Samen would want to get a +2 staff (8.3kgp) and +1 chain shirt (1.15kgp).

Also, this amulet seems too on-brand to not ask for it, at 4k.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/a-b/amulet-of-elemental -strife

9 + 8.3 + 1.15 + 4 = 22.45kgp

Samen and Iniga, those items are approved, just so you can have them in your character sheet. I will provide a little narrative in Gameplay once that gets moving.

Osna, the outlines sound good of how you met Iniga.

Then later, you could have met Phon Voss in Hearth, when both of you were joining your current mercenary company. (which is currently in Hearth)

Phon Voss, I think it's likely you met Iniga in Hearth a few years ago, perhaps a shared social circle at the Temple.

Biggest thing to think about:

--Typically general pantheon worship is rare and not looked upon favorably. I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on how you work interact with the different faiths:

The ifrit Temple would likely be unfriendly (they can be fanatics)

The more religious oread tribes would not look kindly upon it

The undines would likely be more forgiving

etc

So if you are ok with being somewhat of an outcast (but not subject to violence or persecution or anything extreme), then it could work.

I'd like to hear more of why Phon Voss decided to worship all the gods in a land where "ifrits worship Volcano" and "undines worship River" etc is the norm.

(hope I'm not scaring you off the concept, just giving you an idea of what to expect. We can definitely make it work!)

F Undine Warpriest (Disenchanter) - HP 17/59 - AC 21 - FF 20 - TAC 12 - CMD 22 - Fort +9 - Ref +5 - Will +13 - Init +2 - Perc +21 - Bless 6/6 - Fervor 0/8 - Sac Wep 8/8 - Sac Arm 7/8

Let me see here:

Quote:

The ifrit Temple would likely be unfriendly (they can be fanatics)

I can see her not caring about being castigated by them, as it would remind her of her family, something she would be used to. While it would be difficult to deal with them, she would be able to acknowledge that passion and zealotry is but one part of a greater puzzle of what makes an el.

Quote:

The more religious oread tribes would not look kindly upon it

She would try to appeal to their more philosophical sides, that everything is connected. While she wouldn't really have a place among their higher religions, she is wise enough to know when to listen as well.

Quote:

The undines would likely be more forgiving

The respite would be welcomed but as a person who's whole crusade in tainted by a hidden, personal revenge, she would know that forsaking the other powers would be ultimately crippling her.

So when looking at this, the picture that I'm picturing is that she would take any power from anyone who would listen. She has seen some of the Dark and what it can do and has enough foresight to know that to ignore one part of the pantheon would be akin to going in to a battle with an arm tied behind your back. As a warpriest Class she has access to all sorts of cleric spells, the ability to enchant her weapon and armor with any element, so I didn't want to completely ignore that crunch aspect.

Besides, in order to disenchant, she must know about all of the types of magic that would need to be undone.

Apologies all -- we had my son's 6th birthday party, which ate up more of the weekend than I thought it would just playing new boardgames and such. Work went late tonight, but I'm still planning on making forward progress on this thread for the remainder of the week.

Tentative start date 1/18! :)

Real life happens of course, but I will always attempt to keep all of you posted on longer delays, especially when the Gameplay thread gets started.

Same here! Between this glitch and this being final exam week (I'm a teacher), I'll plan on updating over the weekend.

Still technically the weekend by a teacher's calendar... ;)

Phon Voss, your outlines sound interesting -- certainly I think you and Osna having a longer background together will help you have cohesion as two newer players to the setting.

Osna and Phon Voss,I propose that for some reason (perhaps your recent plans have been disrupted from all the chaos of the events Samen outlined, you can work out the details with me) you needed either quick money or protection of a group, etc, and decided to join this particular mercenary company which Iniga currently has a strong connection with (they met Iniga while escorting an ifrit priest far north to Forest for the annual Winter Meet of the oread tribes)

A fellow teacher I see... Does secret 6 foot distanced handshake

I'm definitely fine with having a working background with a new character also, it makes it easier and more believable than otherwise. Phon is a mercenary anyway so this works out fine, I'm trying to figure out the reason to be there but I can't imagine it being too difficult, maybe I'll wait on @Osna so we can come up with something together.

Male CG Sylph Unchained Rogue (Eldritch Scoundrel) 7 | HP: 45/45 | AC: 21(with Mage armor) (T20, FF 16) | BAB: 5, CMB: +4, CMD: 20 | F: +4, R: +11, W: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: 11, Sense Motive : 6 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: Mage armor(7h), Mirror images 4, 7 minutes|

I'm fine with that.
What I am proposing for Osna would be that his Temple aquaintances do not have any more resources to employ him with the new events. All their resources are concentrated with dealing with this new threat. So he had to settle with enroling into a company.
Do you have a name for that company? And for members of it? If it's in the previous game thread, you can indicate where about I can find the information.

Mercenary companies originated in the ifrit cities, so their traditions are mostly fritan. They have fanciful names such and "The Singing Blades" and the "Dancing Shields".

This company is called Lieto Lametta, or in Common, "The Happy Swords"

Margherita Crociuolo is the captain of Lieto Lametta (the same NPC that Samen and Iniga have met before, basically an NPC ally)

Name for individuals: likely other mercenary companies would call them a lieto (singular) or liete (plural).

Captain is the head of the company.

I imagine you two would both be lieutenants, and have a title like "Master of Magic" for Phon Voss and "Spymaster" for Osna. (titles are works in progress)

And finally, here are two things to think about:

1) Why do Osna and Phon Voss trust each other? Have you fought together, saved each other's lives, etc?

2) How have you been affected by the two major, recent events?

A) the collapse of the Inquisition in Hearth and the Champions of the gods that call themselves the Blessed have installed themselves on the Council ;

and B) Over the distant city of Light, the appearance of a hideous god shining ghastly, mercurial radiance over the hapless sylphs. It is called "The Smiler" or sometimes "Smiling Sky" or, by those who know such things, "Moon".

I know the questions weren't directed at me, but it's been a while since I've posted, so just checking in.

Samen's responses:

A: He was barely aware of the inquisition, but religious bigots are the cruelest of folk and he doesn't have much sympathy for them. That said, it remains to be seen if the "Blessed" are any better. Cult leaders tend to be even worse than an established clergy. He probably would've ended up in conflict with the inquisitors, and he'll probably end up in conflict with the Blessed, so it doesn't really matter to Samen who is trying to kill him.

B: Moon is a terrifying threat to all of elenity. If left unchecked, it will destroy life as we know it. Who knows how many other 'gods' with it, will seep into the world? Trying to take a shortcut to neutralize the Dark, the cwmwl, is what led to Moon's emergence. If elenity wants to remain, we must do it on our terms and not blindly sell our future to some other elemental.

I'll have Iniga respond to A just briefly because its kinda central to how she operates.

So background - Iniga is a Red Tongue Skald. Basically, its her role to keep an eye on the relationship between the Army and the Temple, so that no-one goes ahead and tries to make a power play or something. Recently, her role was expanded to keep an eye on other lands (oread / undine / sylph) to make sure there isn't any interference or disruption going on which is why she has been roaming around significantly.

Its technically a secret group that she is part of - but not a massive secret. Its just harder to do her role if everyone acts on her best behavior around her.

Anyway, so this means that technically Iniga doesn't hate the Inquisition or the Temple. It just so happens that some of them seem to be a part of this Efreeti Tango organization that tried to start a war between the oreads / ifrits. If there was a similar group in the Army, Iniga would be just as pissed.

I think Iniga is hated by some high ranking Inquisitors / Temple members though, because as a Skald (and arcane caster), she can Spell Kenning divine magic - meaning some spells that would be exclusive to the Temple are not for Iniga. so while Iniga doesn't really hate the Temple, I doubt she has any friends there.

Anyway the fall of the Inquisition probably troubles Iniga because its unlikely to help the fight against the Dark. Like, by the sound of it some / most of them were corrupt or tainted so it sounds like it had to happen, but equally its not a good thing that it happened (if that makes sense).

As for the Blessed - Iniga is kinda skeptical. It sounds like they have their heart in the right place but fundamentally they seem to worship Lawful gods - and the city seems to be in a pretty big mess at the moment or at least it doesn't seem stable. So, she doesn't hate them, but doesn't approve as to how they have run things so far. Thinks that there might be common ground though and wouldn't mind working alongside them if we had a shared goal.

Male CG Sylph Unchained Rogue (Eldritch Scoundrel) 7 | HP: 45/45 | AC: 21(with Mage armor) (T20, FF 16) | BAB: 5, CMB: +4, CMD: 20 | F: +4, R: +11, W: +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: 11, Sense Motive : 6 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: Mage armor(7h), Mirror images 4, 7 minutes|

Phon Vos and the group, this is a proposal to establish our relationship. If it does not suit you, feel free to amend/change.

Regarding Osna and Phon Voss relationship, I would propose Phon Voss was in the company before Osna arrived. Osna is not fully suited to the military/mercenary life as he was used to working alone or with a few friends outside any real organisation.
Phon Vos could have helped Osna settling in directly as a Lieutenant, and given him time to find his footing in the company. With Phon Vos talents, it's also not difficult to imagine he could have healed Osna during or after a tough fight or mission.

In Osna's system that would have made him indebted to Phon Vos and he would have kept an eye on him during missions or battle as well as in every day's life. Once or twice, Osna could have literally flown in or crossed a battlefield to give a hand to Phon Vos.

If we go back to the collapse of the Inquisition, Osna is very worried. He had developed strong relationships with one Inquisitor that employed him to root out corruption. He has not got any news of her since the Blessed took control, and is kind of worried both about her health but also about the loss of resources/influence that this implies.
He also does not trust the Blessed more than he did the previous masters of the city and worries that they will not look for corruption by the Dark hard enough and let its influence grow. He's waiting to see before he makes his mind.

About the destruction of Light and the apparition of Moon, he is even more worried. First because a lot of Sylphs have suffered or died and second, because treasures of magics seem to be lost, in terms of items but also of knowledge. Osna knows the difficulty linked to learning to practice arcane magics and the inestimable value of knowledge from the past or from more experienced practitioners. Elens need all the weapons they can find against the Dark, but the Moon God does not seem to be on the right side.

I need more than my mobile to answer these, I'll get to them on Sunday as I'm away most of the weekend working.

@Osna: That works for me, I don't mind playing up a once-superior in an organization if you'd like. The dynamic could be interesting and give some good direction to the character (Phon).

Phon is silently worried about this inquisition and those who installed themselves, not that she has a problem with authority but the over-zealousness of their cause. While she works and probably has some familiar relations with some, I could see her trying as best she can to stay on the outskirts of it as much as possible considering how near-heretical she is.

With regards to Moon, she's drawn to it and what it could mean. Whether or not she's right, she's convinced herself that her quest will end when she figures out the puzzle about that God. Letting something with so much power loom and judge seems to dredge up bad memories for her.

Thanks for the quick replies, all!

I will be double-checking character sheets, NPCs, backgrounds etc over the the next few days.

*Are there any questions any of you have for me in the meantime, before we start Gameplay? (time TBD, likely the weekend)

Thanks for your continued patience! Report cards are going out this week, so a busier weekend than I had anticipated.

Nonetheless, I want you all to think of meeting at Duke's inn (where Iniga and her cousins have been staying) to discuss matters. Think about how your character is feeling with the new threat (or opportunity!) of Moon, and what matters most to your character right now.

Thanks for the update. I will think about that.
Do you have any questions about our character sheets ?

@Phon Vos. Sorry for the late reply. I thought I had answered, but did not. I like the fact that Phon Vos was Osna's superior when Osna arrived into the company.

Osna has an history of working under the supervision of powerful women (from his background + with the company captain) and even if the hierarchical link is not there anymore with Phon Vos, There should be some lingering signs.

Another point I was thinking about.
Phon Vos should know, from discussion they had, that Osna is not the real name of the character but a nickname. It means "sigh" in Sylph (in Gaelic). This is a nickname he had before getting in the company and has kept. She would also know Osna's real first name to be Caolan (a real Irish first name meaning "slender")
On Phon's side, has she got a nick name in the company or is she strict on being called Lieutenant Vos?

F Undine Warpriest (Disenchanter) - HP 17/59 - AC 21 - FF 20 - TAC 12 - CMD 22 - Fort +9 - Ref +5 - Will +13 - Init +2 - Perc +21 - Bless 6/6 - Fervor 0/8 - Sac Wep 8/8 - Sac Arm 7/8

Will consider it.

Since we are outside the company, I don't see her as someone who would still demand titles from someone no longer in a hierarchy. Phon is usually what she goes by to those she has fought with, though if Osna wishes to use a title she would probably understand the reasoning and not be too upset or confused by it.

According to the reading:

Quote:

Undines try to take wayward sylphs under their wing (fin) to gently show them the ways of River (which can be beneficial, even without being an active worshiper)

While she doesn't actively follow the ways of River, I think part of this could work really well. She's experienced a lot of loss so she is protective of those who have the ability to help others, which I can imagine is how she sees Osna.

Character sheets look fine so far - I will take a deeper dive soon. For now, I'm satisfied that you all know your characters and the world and your relationships and we are ready to go.

I went ahead and posted in Gameplay, because it's already February and I want to finally stay procrastinating and just play already :)

I just realized that Improved Counterspell doesn't do much when focusing on Dispel Magic. Oops.

Is it to late to swap it for another of the Disenchanter's Bonus Feats? If so, I'll find time to retrain it later If permitted.

Definitely not too late. We just started, and I'd much, much prefer everyone is happy with their characters. I would so far as to say minor swaps can still happen after our first major comat, once you all see how the pieces all fit together.

Okay thanks.

After reading a little more into it, I swapped Dispel Focus for Spell Specialization (Abjuration) as well (as it works for both counterspells and for dispel magic, whereas Dispel Focus only works on the latter).

Quote:

HD 1: Combat Reflexes
WP 1: Weapon Focus (Lucerne Hammer)
HD 3: Cosmopolitan (K: Local, K: Nature, 2 Languages)
WP 3: Improved Counterspell Spell Focus (Abjuration)
HD 5: Power Attack
HD 7: Dispel Focus Spell Specialization (Dispel Magic)

This is what happens when I rush to get a submission in! Nothing has changed regarding the flavour or mechanics, except now its even more Core material (and I can make use of that 14 Int and not feel silly!)

Couple of questions for the GM

GM - status of the Hand? I believe some trails were originally scheduled to unlock further aspects before we restarted this and wasn't sure if I had since made progress in the last week or so I have been in the city.

Also whats the status of the Council / Blessed? Seems like they were happy for the Blessed to take care of everything w/ Moon before and now they want to send an army after roughly a week or so?

Also - do I have access to my upgraded Infuse Self forms as well? As referred to in this post?

Lastly - whats the topic of conversation here? I'm happy to lead it (people seem to be looking at Iniga for it) but why have I called this meeting exactly? As you have mentioned there has been no significant change in the last week or so (such as being unsuccessful in finding Efreeti Tango) so why have I borught everyone together?

Blasted server logged me out without informing me again. I wonder if the same thing has happened to anyone else?

Actually, let's switch it to -- Marg called the meeting. That would make much more sense with the scene.

I will answer these questions in Discussion eventually, apologies, just trying to post a few times a week while things are a bit busy at work.

Happened here too. Seems like some of my games have been dead since Monday due to it.

Iniga,

Infuse Self -- yes, you have the abilities listed here, and you learned the spell for your last level if you wished to:

me wrote:

Iniga, your Infuse Self would be:

--Lasts 1 hr/lvl

--Skaldic vigor is fast healing 3 (might get to healing 4 at higher levels)

--Strength surge can be used twice per rage instead of once

--You can use your full strength mod when using your claws (I think normally natural weapons are half str mod)

--Resist fire 5

--You are able to use your strength mod instead of your cha mod for the abilities of the Hand. (this effect will eventually become permanent, I just need to come up with some sort of challenge/trial for Iniga to complete, but that's farther down the road)

Hand:

"Calor" has been unlocked by now

You are close to unlocking the "use your strength mod for the Hand" -- 1 feat of strength was your victories at the orean Winter Meet ;; another feat of strength was wrestling a drake to the ground. 1 more feat of strength, and you feel it will happen.

For our new players -- Iniga basically has a preserved relic, the Hand of an ancient revered knight of Volcano.

---

Re: Council. Interesting dichotomy here -- you are right the Council of Hearth is more passive, biding their time, and trusting the Blessed. The leaders of Forge, however, do not have as much confidence and have been diverting a sizable force away from the Western Front, in possible preparation of action against Light and Moon.
