Idk if that even works on undead. Nothing else I have will be effective at all this fight. If the stare works it takes a -2 to Will saves and I will activate Painful stare to cause 1 hp of additional damage once per round when it takes any damage as well.

Mary Kay's Arcane Bolt slams into the Poltergeist. It totally ignores Eustice but Fang is able to get a light hit on it and then Rhysfar lands a hit on it. Maslow goes towards the Poltergeist with a flurry of punches but with no effect on the creature.

The poltergeist picks up the statue again and hurls it at Mary Kay

You guys notice that the cloth covering that is over the altar is not a table it seems to be a large box with religious carvings on it and you also notice that there is a panel that you would be able to slide it open.

The piles of ashes seem to have been books. If you want to examine the books it would be a Knowledge Religion for one book and Knowledge History or Local for the other book

Rhysfar now that you are in the room you can see that there was a struggle in the room and it was never straightened back up. You can see a trail of dried blood leading from the altar to the front entrance of the building. You know from the lack of tracks in here that no creature has entered this place in the last few weeks, possibly even a month.

Also now that you all are getting closer to the altar notice a lingering smell of rotting flesh.

Fang will come off as a bit brusque on the ship, but after a few days he opens up a bit. ”Been on and around water for most of m’ life. Been haulin’ line and diving since I was just a tiny minnow. Now, cap’n says I’m gettin too old ta be out on the seas. Says I’m losin m’ edge. He wants a younger crew and says I should go get in on this island building thingy. Fah. He’s putting me on dry dock is what it is. But I’m here, and I’ll pull m’ weight. Once this is over, I’m gettin m’ own ship and sailin wherever I damn well please.”

Fang stands at around 6’ with grey hair and sky blue eyes. While not rippling with muscles, he does seem quite hearty and spry. Skin has that tanned/weathered look. He’s usually wearing just breeches on the ship, but for dinner, he cleans himself up and has a nice shirt to go with it. In the off times when the ship has to stop, he is usually fishing during the break, but otherwise, he tries to help out on the deck.

Mary Kay Ponzi is a half-elf in her mid-20s. Completely average in size and weight to others of her kind, her only redeeming feature are eyes the color of sunset.

Rotating the same 2 outfits, she keeps an array of masks that cover the upper half of her face. She is usually found trying to get fresh air, and keeps a teapot that she will flavor and heat water to sit and chat.

Scents and texture are her main passion. Willing to talk of aromas for hours of the new plants she hopes to find. Exporting as perfumes to the mainland for society to wear, at a tidy profit.

Eustice, Hucklebone to his friends, is a Cecaelia, a fairly rare amphibious creature with the torso, arms, and head of a human but the tentacles of a squid from the waist down. He's friendly and curious, though a bit absent minded at times. He explains that he is always looking for a new adventure and has been exploring new horizons since he was just a lad. For obvious reasons, he chooses to visit locations close to the water, and when he heard of this opportunity he couldn't resist.

His constant companion is a creature he refers to as his brother. Brother is almost the exact opposite of him, with the body of a human but a squid where the head should be. Brother's skin is a pale sickly shade of green and when he speaks, which is rare, it comes in a whisper. There was something very unsettling about being in Brother's presence when first disembarking, but you all grown accustomed to it and aren't bothered now.

Eustice has made it obvious that he is a spell caster and that Brother is a powerful, otherworldly spirit in his service.

Alchemy guide:

There's a ton of good alchemical items. Some of my favorites

Alchemist's Kindness - No hangover!
Antitoxin, Antiplague - +5 to saves vs. Disease or poison, or a reroll if already affected.
Acid, alchemist's fire, bottled lightning, etc. - Anti-swarm requirements until higher level when AoE spells are better
Meditation Tea - +2 to the most important save for a good length of time
Sooth Syrup - Situational, but being sickened or nauseated sucks, and a +5 is a hefty bonus
Blood Boiling Pill - Initiative boost with minor side affects
Smelling Salts - Wake up people you've knocked out with nonlethal
Soul Stimulant - Ignore a negative level for abit (expensive)
Potion Sponge - Let's you drink potions underwater.

(Alchemical Reagents)
Cold Iron - bonus to dispel checks
Magnesium - increases duration of transmutation effects
Cytilesh spores - increased duration for charm and compulsion effects
Quicksilver - increaed duration for mind affecting
Salt - increased CL for effect for necromancy
Silver - Increased DC for saves vs Illusion (excellent if you focus on that)
Spirit of wine - Increased caster level for duration of summons

Barbarian Chew - Extra round of rage, good for barb/bloodrager dips
Red Flame Torch - Light source that can't be seen at a distance

Leveled. Big level up; Rhys (and Esgidiau) now have pack flanking. As long as they are adjacent, they count as flanking any enemy they both threaten. With outflank, that's a +4 bonus to hit, and any critical hits from either draws an attack of opportunity from the other.

Esgi gets a nice combat boost with the dex/str increase and more natural armor. Also picked up the Sneak trick on him as a bonus trick, which should allow me to start stealthing more frequently.

Leveled both Rhys and Esgi. Esgi going with the +1 Intelligence to a 3, and spending downtime to learn to understand common.

If we sold everything we have it would be a pretty substantial pay out, but a lot of the items are definitely worth keeping.

Rhys is interested in the ring of protection for Esgidiau and the ioun torch for himself.

leveled up as well. nothing big changes this level, though i do now have Air Cushion. "You cushion a fall from any height. You are constantly under the effects of feather fall, and you count as one size category larger for the purpose of determining how you are affected by wind."

Oracles are great. You have lots of spell slots and learn cure spells for free, so you can heal when needed, but also have the ability to cast buffs, debuffs, damage spells, etc.

The Lore oracle gets all knowledge skills (an area we're struggling in currently), can get Charisma to AC/Reflex saves (so you can dump or not prioritize Dex), can get Charisma to Knowledge checks (although you're limited on skill slots, so I wouldn't necessarily suggest dumping Int, especially if you're non-human. Also, see the Mental Acuity revelation here as well), and Arcane Archivist, while once a day, can give you a ton of versatility with access to the much better Sorcerer/Wizard spell list.

Metal Oracle gets lead blades, can get proficiency in all martial weapons and heavy armor, and are solid combatants without needing to dip to a martial.

Life Oracles are the best healers (your already going to have a good charisma obviously, so you'll get more channels pound for pound than an equal level cleric.) Combat Healer gives you swift action heals so you can use your standard for other spells or attacks, and life link can be very good if you build for it, especially if you're willing to dip into Paladin.

Lunar oracles are a favorite, Charisma to AC/Reflex, animal companion at your level. Also, Mantle of Moonlight can ruin a casters day.

Any combination of Oracle that gets access to Charisma to AC/Reflex and that worships Desna, thus opening up Desna's Divine Fighting Technique (Cha to attack/damage with a starknife) can be a ridiculously efficient combatant, with all of the buffs you muster, high Charisma and Con, and access to the various starknife style feats.

My thoughts on the loot

Meridian Belt. Sell. We don't have enough rings to justify it, and honestly even if we did there are almost always better belt options, its an extremely niche item.

Minor bag of holding. Keep. Not sure who wants to carry it, I've got carrying capacity to spare, as does Esgi.

+1 Trident. Sell, as Atlan already has one.

+1 Seaborne Glaive. Very cool, but I'm hesitant to grab an effectively +2 weapon that doesn't work with my build except when I'm under water. Either Atlan if he can finesse it or sell.

Ioun Torch. Keep. Atlan or Rhys.

cloak of resistance +1. Atlan or Mary Kay.

Ring of Protection +1. Esgidiau, Atlan, or Rhys.

wand of mage armor. Mary Kay

saltspray ring. obscuring mist shuts down (non-Unchained) sneak attack, which can be useful. If anyone needs to stay wet on land, I say they keep it, otherwise, i'd say sell, it's worth a good chunk of change.

Selling everything else (not including the saltspray ring for now) would net us 1946.08 each. I don't have gold values for the recording gems, if they're sellable. We also found a steel flask and a set of dice in a leather cup, but they're likely worth negligible value and someone might want to keep them for roleplaying purposes.

Selling remaining loots nets each character 2,398.58 gold each, and puts 2,399.1 silver in the party treasury. Since we've gotten our wand of cure light now on the last shipment, we're in a better place on out-of-combat heals, and with a cleric or oracle incoming, we're going to have a lot more party staying power. For party loots, my only recommendation would be things like scrolls of lesser restoration. Scrolls of haste might be worth grabbing to give Mary Kay another option after spell slots run out.

Tony, I'll have a final purchase list by this evening. May cancel some of my other purchases and just get Esgidiau a set of +1 leather lamellar barding.
