Hello. I created this character (Human (Tian-Min) Bard: Lotus Geisha) for another Jade Regent recruitment (20 pt buy, "romantic version" of the AP) but was unsuccessful in getting selected. I am eager to play this AP and would like to put forward Kasumi for your consideration. I've made her level 2. If I need to amend any of the other crunch for your game, I'm happy to do so.

Can we have an overview of the rest of the party?
Like, what do they lack, brawler, skill monkey, spellcasting etc?


Looks like the current players are an unchained monk, cleric of Sarenrae, and ninja. I did not go so far as to decipher any deviation from traditional builds. Arcane caster seems to be a mostly what they need, followed by a tank.

I'm on the fence about applying. I did in the original recruitment but one of the draws would be playing with Caine, whose leaving prompted this recruitment.

Hello, Mightypions suggestion here.

Urban Skald, which should synergize with everyone, add arcane magic, lots of knowledge rolls, spell kenning at level 5, UMD as class skill, face abilities and will be build dex-centric-dodgy so can stand in the front lines reasonably well, although her DPR will be lacking until she picks up agile weapons.

She is kind of themed on being a female Edgar Alan Poe/ Alexandr Puschkin, and will likely run down the spirit totem line, because pounce is boring but friendly spirits are imho pretty fun.

I have the following questions:
--HP? According to PFS?
--Any variant rules such as elephant in the room/Background traits etc. active?
--Number of traits, are drawbacks allowed?
--Can be narratively difficult to put in existing relationship with an NPC character, as mine would be an Urban Skald, perhaps she becomes something akin to a chronicler for Ameiko?
--Average WBL for level 2?

I have built an Elven Arcanist to put in for this. I will wait to see the answers to the questions Alexandra asked before I post.

Question- Do you want us to pick NPC's that we are involved with using the Campaign Traits or leave that open until after you select? This kind of effects how much backstory you may want.


Prospective spell list:

--Grease because of course.
--Moment of greatness due to it being really good, since my inspired DEX bonus is morale.
--Tears to wine because its quite the sizeable skill bonus and the long duration, I believe party is struggling here?

Prospective skills:
--Perform oratory for Diplomacy and Sense motive, to include bluff later (level 7)
--UMD
--3 levels in acrboatics for better defensive fighting
--Knowledge skills that are currently missing.
--A bit of perception

Character quirks:
--Partly based on Puschkin, so she will generally accept duels, even if it is a bad idea. Puschkin participated in 30ish or so, and famously died in one.
--May have been exiled for unflattering poetry on ruler figures, ended up in sandpoint and hooked up with Ameiko? I do not know jade regent and have never played it.
--Gets displeased when called a necromancer on account of her spirit abilities she will pick up at level 3.
--Will occassionally make "I see dead people" jokes
--Will seek to Monkey Island style insult duel intelligent enemies who earned it. Cannot guarantee that it will rhyme much.


Yeah, I might change the backstory up if we need to be connected to an NPC.


If you don't necessarily need a bard archetype, I'm happy to withdraw Kasumi Kiku and create an Unchained Rogue to help with trapfinding. I'll put something together for your consideration.


With a Skald on the list would you have any interest for an Eldrith Scoundrel too? Additional skills and magic? I've been wanting to try building one.

Alright--Tazo here with my submission. Please meet Muziel Moreau, Dwarven Wizard and his friend Trogs the Skunk!

I swear that a Dwarf Wizard is not as suboptimal as it sounds. Muziel is an Wizard specializing in Earth magic, with the Pact Wizard archetype. The Earth element is a nod to eastern themes, based on the five-element system (Wood, Earth, Water, Fire, and Metal). Dwarves have a trait that increase the caster level of Earth spells by 1 level. And the Mountain patron (through Pact Wizard) means he will be able to spontaneously cast various Stone spells as the game progresses! He'll cover all of the knowledge skills well, aided by the good-old Breadth of Experience feat. And he has a ton of HP for a Wizard, increasing survivability.

Missing knowledge skills:
Arcana, Planes, Dungeoneering, Engineering, Geography, Local, Nature.
All other knowledge skills are only at +5, with no option to assist, so I would say they are not really "covered".
Party has +7 on 2 face skills, lacks intimidate (imho not a big deal), no option to assist Mrs. Aiko in it.
Survival and UMD are both lacking, to a degree, survival can be done via knowledge nature and handle animal. UMD lack probably more of a big issue, as the only caster is currently a cleric.


Note that Aiko uses the family name-personal name format. The family name "Hattori" is swiped from the historical figure Hattori Hanzo, who is frequently cited as the most famous example of an actual ninja.


I would like to offer The Magician, Zomeraand for consideration as your replacement party member.

He was originally created for a Rise of the Runelords PbP that sputtered out shortly after the Swallowtail Festival.

I will flesh out his backstory once I have done a bit more reading on initial PC knowledge from the player's guide.

He wrote books for all three stories eventually, although you know the last one as 'The Traveler’s many affairs,' which is the name it was published under.”

“I was conscripted by the Magnimar military a little over...a decade ago now when I was 17. Served with the 'Endworld Fiends', a kind of special teams unit. I was originally posted in the east country, in the Mushfens." Khatín cracks her neck, taking another long pull on the cigar. She flexes her left hand, looking at it. "We had run-ins with bandits, some tribes of goblins, and...other things. After one engagement, I was knocked unconscious in an explosion. Still haven’t gotten back to the peak performance I was at. Still don't know what caused it.” Her hand trembles slightly.

“While recovering, one night I was on a ship in Varisian Bay. I’d gone AWOL the night before, found myself a pretty half-elf woman who liked it rough. They’re still trying to punish me for that. Going AWOL, not the woman. Like that matters anymore. Like any of it matters. She and I stayed up, and I read her passages from his book, my brother's book, 'A forgery of love'." Khatín smiles wistfully. "A stupid romance about two androids from Numeria on opposite sides in the war between Issia and Rostland - before they became Brevoy, mind you - discovering each other and falling in love. Eventually, they meet each other in battle on the slopes of Mount Veshka. It was never published.”

“We...we woke to silence. A messenger found me with...the news. It seems so surreal now. My brother was in Korvosa, I guess. I don’t know. And he just...he’s not dead. He once wrote I carry death with me, like a dark memory I have yet to experience, like a deep depression over what might happen.

Khatín grew up a bastard of a noble in Magnimar - a well-to-do bastard, but a bastard nonetheless. Her mothers' sigil was a valknut, two triangles in a knot, meant to signify freedom, family, and glory. Her father's family was an ancient Elder tree, signifying the roots and the pedigree of the house. Khatín took these and combined them with an ouroboros, hand-painted over the top of the tree which she turned upside-down, growing out of the stone valknut. The tree is upside down to represent the fact the family is old and "dead", and that she is a bastard. Unseen. Invisible.

Khatín Kuron Xinivane is a Mwangi human of 27 years. She is a spiritualist and will take classes in Slayer, as she regains her confidence. She cares less about rules than individuals and values others over herself. (CG).

Khatín likes the comforts in life. Not necessarily money, she believes a lot of wealth comes from corruption. For her, being true to one's self is the most important. Being genuine. "I don't care what you believe, believe in something. I don't care what you stand for, stand for something. I don't care what you fight for - fight." She is a true believer in the untested power of democracy. She does not like roughing it, or towns that lack certain amenities. She can be quite dismissive.

Khatín has the left side of her head shaved, and the rest of her dark hair is dreaded. Her eyes are like deep green moss. Her body is lean and strong.

Her phantom appeared on the day the news of her brother disappearing arrived. Who the phantom is (could be her brother or someone else), or even if the phantom communicates is a mystery up to the GM. We can discuss if I roleplay what the phantom says, or if the GM (or someone else even, lol) roleplays the phantoms' personality. She is wanted by some over-zealous Magnimaran leaders for desertion, and wanted by the half-elf woman, possibly.

Khatín wants to do all she can to stop innocents from being hurt, and find out what happened to her brother.

Khatín is largely defined by the trauma of the loss of her brother. She fought hard to defend her city, despite feeling lost and alone. She carries plenty of scars - on her body and on her soul.

She adventures because you can’t think of anything else to do. She can’t just go back to her place of birth...it all seems wrong if he is not there. She hasn't spoken to her mother in years. Adventuring seems like the only option left to her, and it offers the opportunity to continue using the skills she learned in the service of Magnimar.

The fighting and eventual disappearance of her brother savaged her soul far worse than it could ever hurt her body, and she remains bitterly wounded. Her life is a contradiction. Violence is a language she is fluent in. Still, she can never shake the waves of disgust that course through her when violence is necessary. But she lives by violence, and she's not sure she knows how to give it up.

She clings to this ghost, this haunting because it is comfortable and familiar. No one but her knows it exists, and she secretly both hopes and is terrified it might be her brother. While she is a bit chaotic in her choices sometimes, she finds comfort in a regimented schedule, though she wouldn't admit that.

She has a rich vocabulary influenced heavily by her brother's writing. She loves reading, but nothing is as good as what he wrote.


So, other than maybe tweaking my 1st lvl feat between now and start Scera is done.


Here is Seinneadair's application, Jasper is an investigator that can serve as an arcane 3/4s caster and a skill monkey, he has trap finding, an assortment of knowledge, and is a competent frountliner. considering I wasn't really sure where the game is starting I kept my backstory pretty vague, as I learn more of where we are I may add to it if chosen.

Possible character commonalities:

Alexandra and Zaraleva:

Sarenrae-ites and someone very strongly hoping that Nocticulas Redeemer queen thing is not just a plot (meaning Alexandra) do have some joint interests. Alexandra is Chaotic Good, but not that certain about her own goodness, and will lap up any praise from a clerically certified "do gooder".
Alexandra does pay her debts, if healed/saved she will get fiercely protective.

Alexandra and Aiko:

Both are performers, both are pretty pragmatic about using their looks. Should be a good source of banter. Also, stealth and face buddies.
It could also get interesting because Aiko is the person most likely to guess that Alexandra has some rather unusual motivation to keep Ameiko alive.

Alexandra and Adrian:

I think she will try to make him less anxious/awkward, but in a fairly mischevious way because of course she would.
She will likely figure out he has a crush on Ameiko, figure out that a strongly motivated extra bodyguard for Ameiko is a completely excellent idea from her perspective and try to play matchmaker/Cherub. She is Irriseni, so it would certainly involve Booze on her part.

Class Abilities:
Studied Target: A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move action. Background:
Byron Vhiski was born in Sandpoint. He is the younger brother of Sandru Viski. Sandru would often take Byron out into the wilds and would show Byron how to hunt. When Sandru left town for several years Byron did start to fall into some bad crowds even with Koya trying to shelter him as she had for Sandru. In the end Byron turned out to be more of a hunter and avoided joining the Sczarni guild just as his brother had.

When Sandru eventually returned with tails of his adventures Byron thought they sounded amazing and would be a great way to get out of the backwater town he had lived in his whole life. So he began looking for a group of adventurers similar to those his brother had found to travel with.

What he brings to the table:
Byron is a front line fighter/rogue. So he can handle the magical traps that we may run into the in the future while also helping to hold the line.

He can also track and help with finding places as I believe this campaign has a lot of traveling involved in it. He is not great at the knowledges for the most part, but will be able to act as a guide.


For some reason my girl's stats weren't right as I stuffed up the point buy calculations (I was rushing and didn't check properly, I think). I've now fixed up the crunchy bits on Nish's sheet. Sorry about that and thanks!

Five magnificent characters have lost their way. We just reached third level and the town of B**********. We need a DM to guide us the rest of the way through the A.P. please.
