Special Abilities

Dual Talent Some humans are uniquely skilled at maximizing their natural gifts. These humans pick two ability scores and gain a +2 racial bonus in each of those scores. This racial trait replaces the +2 bonus to any one ability score, the bonus feat, and the skilled traits.
Scholar of the Ancients Growing up with your nose in books, you’ve had a great interest in past cultures and ancient history. Furthermore, having grown up in Varisia, you know the monuments dotting the landscape belong to an ancient civilization known as Thassilon. From your life of study and dogged research, you’ve pieced together the language and partial history of this once-great empire. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (history) checks, and begin play able to speak and read Thassilonian.
Magical Knack You were raised, either wholly or in part, by a magical creature, either after it found you abandoned in the woods or because your parents often left you in the care of a magical minion. This constant exposure to magic has made its mysteries easy for you to understand, even when you turn your mind to other devotions and tasks. Pick a class when you gain this trait—your caster level in that class gains a +2 trait bonus as long as this bonus doesn’t raise your caster level above your current Hit Dice.
Underlying Principles You’ve spent a large amount of time around magical items, and understand the similarities between many of them. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Use Magic Device checks, and Use Magic Device is a class skill for you.
Arcane School Void (opposiition: fire)
Void Magic Add the following spells to your wizard spell list at the listed spell level: 1st—keen senses, 3rd—twilight knife*, 4th— wandering star motes*, 6th—true seeing, 8th— moment of prescience.
Void Elementalist Wizard Spells
0 - guidance
1st - gravity bow, keen senses, shield, true strike
2nd - continual flame, haunting mists, invisibility, masterwork transformation, see invisibility, share memory
3rd - arcane sight, clairaudience/clairvoyance, dispel magic, nondetection, seek thoughts, tapestry's embrace, twilight knife
4th - minor creation, moonstruck, wandering star motes
5th - fabricate, major creation, mind fog, telepathic bond, teleport
6th - dispel magic, greater, legend lore, mage's lucubration, true seeing
7th - simulacrum, teleport, greater, vision
8th - mind blank, moment of prescience, orb of the void, whirlwind
9th - foresight, mage's disjunction, time stop
Void Awareness (Su) Your ability to recognize the void allows your body to react to magical manifestations before you’re even aware of them. You gain a +2 insight bonus on saving throws against spells and spell-like abilities. This bonus increases by +1 for every five wizard levels you possess. At 20th level, whenever you would be affected by a spell or spell-like ability that allows a saving throw, you can roll twice to save against the effect and take the better result.
Reveal Weakness (Su) When you activate this school power as a standard action, you select a foe within 30 feet. That creature takes a penalty to its AC and on saving throws equal to 1/2 your caster level (minimum –1) for 1 round. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence bonus.

Description:
Scera is a pale human woman with long black hair, a curvaceous figure, and dark red eyes. She wears a black corset, over a shoulderless dress that hangs down in front and behind her leaving her hips and the side of her legs uncovered. She wears black hose that covers her legs and hips and either shoes or boots with low heels. She pins her hair partly up with a pair of hair sticks and carries no visible weapons.

Scera can often be seen with a book and sometimes pen, ink, and vellum. When she is writing she wears a pair of soft leather gloves that cover her hands to avoid ink stains. She is accompanied by a raven that perches on her shoulder or pack and she has been seen holding conversations with it on many occasions.
Scera

Personality:
Despite her dark look Scera is actually a fairly kind person even if she can still come across as standoffish at times, especially when she is reading. Just because she has her now in a book it doesn’t mean that she isn’t listening to what is going on around her...ok, so she is oblivious then, but only because she enjoys reading. She likes to pick up new languages and wishes she could learn the healing arts but so far she has no skill with such things. What Scera is good at is casting magic and studying, her mind is as sharp as she is beautiful, and she has a good retention of information.

Background:
Scera was born in Chelliax twenty-four years ago to a Chellaxian noblewoman names Novenia Fullonna and her paramour, a Nidalese man names Skender. While they never wed Novenia did become pregnant and Skender was made to disappear as the scandal of just who Scera’s father was turned out to be significant. When Scera was born she was quickly sent to live with a branch of the Fullonna family in Magnimar, her aunt Aspexia.

Aspexia was an outcast of the family due to her radical views that people should choose what they want to be, the kind of person they want to marry, and so on. None of this was grounds to disinherit her but they did exile her and so where better to send the unwanted daughter. Scera always considered Aspexia to be her true mother and, eventually Aspexia's lover the half-bronze dragon wizardess named Sineskella her Mama Sine, and never met her birth parents, it didn’t bother her much after she was old enough to understand. She didn’t have many friends, the other kids wanting nothing to do with the Chelliaxian girl and her crazy “moms” so she instead focused on her studies and absorbed a lot of magical knowledge about wizardry from Sine leading to her having a knack for wizardry when she later began to study it.

Scera proved quite capable of learning things, particularly the subjects of magic and religion, and learned how to read and write early on. She was eventually apprenticed to a scribe named Herb and there found herself able to excel at her work. As she reached adolescence and started to develop as children due the kids who used to avoid her suddenly wanted to be around her as she quickly began to develop into a gorgeous young woman. Scera eventually realized this and began to take care of her appearance. Sure, it took a lot of time each morning, and she tended to be late for her apprenticeship but her Master, Jacobi, didn’t mind as having her there brought all sorts of business to his shop.

Scera eventually stumbled on a book that spoke of wizards magic and she began to read it. The book was influenced heavily by traditions of Tian-xia and spoke of a different means of viewing schools of magic. She found herself interested in the five element style and, particularly, void magic. It was a unique concept and one that resonated to her even if she never understood why. She began to study the book and found she had a problem due to the language it was written in. She needed someone who could teach her the Tien tongue so she could decipher it and it so happened that she learned of someone in Magnimar who could teach her, When Ameiko Kaijitsu left Sandpoint to adventure in 4701 AR one of her household's servants, Kiko Aterasu, who followed her and maintained a place Ameiko's group could use as a base of operations when they were in Magnimar. Scera learned the basics of the Tien language from Kiko and actually became rather close to her, but they fell out of touch when Kiko moved back to Sandpoint to Ameiko run the bar she opened after retiring from adventuring only communicating by letters.

Scera learned enough to decipher the book and began to learn to be a practicing void wizard. As she studied one of the other things she learned from the book was a different view on magical theory on the underlying principles of magic items that, when combined with her knowledge from Sine gave her a solid grasp of how to use them.

Her time studying magic had expanded her repertoire and ended with her learning about ancient Thassilon as well. This turned into another subject of study that Scera couldn't help but get interested in. It had been five years since she last saw Kiko and Scera finished her apprenticeship and entered an agreement with her Master Herb to run a scriptorium in Sandpoint as a branch office of his own in Magnimar. He had gotten the place purchased and all the necessary products ordered and Scera said farewell to Magnimar, promised her mothers (who had finally married leaving Aspexia completely disowned by the family in Chelliax and Secra right along with her, though neither really cared about this fact) that she would visit when she could, and left for Sandpoint early in hopes she could see Kiko before the festival and open the shop after the festival was done. Little did Scera know that she would not get to open that shop anytime soon as terrible things were about to happen to the town of Sandpoint and her new shop.
