This is a thread for any out-of-character discussions. This scenario has the repeatable and starship tags. With five quests, it has the potential to run a bit long, so I will do my best to keep things moving.
Although we have some time before the encounter, it will be helpful to have starship assignments hashed out ahead of time. Starship combat will undoubtedly run a little differently than in the CRB given the asynchronous nature of PbP. I have played/run it in various ways, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. I haven't decided how best to handle it just yet for this table, but will let you know in advance.
I am looking forward to adventuring with you all!

One piece of information. From 31 of August till 5th of September I will be on vacation in a sort of remote place. I should be able to post normally, but if I stay silent please feel free to bot me.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

![]() |

@GM Valen the game that I was hoping to finish before the 1st of September got stuck due to availability (mostly of my teammates). If things go south, I will swap Aravon for another PC (lvl 4 mechanic :(, not a frontline but as a lvl 4 he can take a hit).

GM Valen |

Feel free to continue mustering over in Gameplay and make PCs introductions. I will start us off with the briefing on September 1st.

Im in the same boat as the others were. cant move my tokens
Should be fixed now.

@Waldergrave, you are correct good sir! I double checked the rules for trick attack, and it specifically says i cannot use unweildy weapons, which most snipers are.
Well, that sucks. i guess i need to rethink the build for the operative...
Thank you for the point out!

GM Valen |

Looking ahead to the next quest, it involves (potentially) starship combat. In an effort to save some time, please discuss starship assignments here in advance.

Oh wow. Starship.
Aravon is fairly limited in his options
He can be a decent Gunner +5
And a Chief Mate
He could take the Captain chair to intimidate you for better results (Intimidate +9)
and that would be it.
;)

![]() |

Impex might be the best for Pilot actually. It looks like they have a +8 (1 rank). I have a +6 (1 rank), so they actually have me on the better roll.
I can do science officer or engineering...or even Captain. I can auto-encourage by doing the DC 10 check for Engineering or Science officer. I can encourage by helping the gunner or pilot by rolling a 4 or higher....
Or I can be a gunner...

![]() |

So how about
Pilot: Impex
Engineer/ science officer: Weylin
Gunner: Aravon
And Rey can fill whatever we need at given time: Captain, 2nd Gunner, science officer, second engineer or whatnot ;)
With question play up or down, again I leave it to Weylin and Impex, Aravon is tanky enough to deal with any foes but they are at risk here

![]() |

Yeah, I am easy with whatever....as Weylin says...the play matters....

![]() |

@Impex. If you look at the map, we are the red ship the green is the enemy.
A dotted line is left by the GM to show their movement. So the green icon with a border represents where the ship was, and the green icon without a border where it is. By doing that GM allows other players to spot mistakes. (fan fact, I lost starship combat in 1-00 Quest simply because GM assumed that enemy ship had the better engine and turns making them shoot us with way powerful front guns. I tried to challenge him a couple of times on the movement of their ship, but as they did not leave a trail on how they moved it was very hard.)
So for round two, you need to select a maneuver and make a move on the map.
Your every round should consist of 3 things
- Select action as a pilot, Flyby, barrel roll etc. Almost all of them require pilot roll which you have to make for that round
- Move the red icon on the map, our ship has speed 10 hexes and can turn after every 1 hex. You can turn only 45 deg (1 hex).
- Do a pilot roll that represents an initiative roll for the next round. (if your result is higher than they move first and we last, if lower the opposite).
Does it make it clearer?

weylin looks at the screen and wonders where the enemy ship went
Weyling you are alright? I haven't seen you for awhile and then I spotted your post above. You know that we are in a fight in the gameplay thread right?

![]() |

yes. Ive been checking every day. I think weve been waiting on GM Valen to post. I saw he was posting in recruiting so thought Id post something here to jog things.
edit- I just realized I wasnt getting any notifications which is curious.

![]() |

Hey Folks, if you are short of weapons one of the cultists had pulsecaster pistol (small arm 1d4 electric damage).
Alternatively, Aravon has a tactical pistol (small arms 1d6 piercing) that he is not using at the moment.

GM Valen |

Thank you all for a fun run! That's a wrap.
As I need to report the game within the next several hours, I will go ahead and roll boons for those who have not yet done so.
Also, please post your Day Job rolls or other downtime activities (if you haven't already in the Recruitment thread). Once I have the rolls, I will be able get you all your chronicles!

GM Valen |

Impex, Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Rayburn, Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Weylin, Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 6
GM, Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Alas, no boons. We will simply have to play more games!

@Lysle, thanks for GM'ing this. I had a great time. That was my first scenario where I could use Smiley so extensively (moving around the map and all) and I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for making it such a great run. If you are ever short of players lvl 4 and lower let me know :D
@Team - good game folks, thank you for that!

Thanks GM Valen, and all..This is a good set of quests ...I do wish it had a little bit more variability, but it always is interesting to see how the guardian fight goes (most of the times I have seen, the guardian(s) gets killed before cleansing the alter), and the collecting of the items is always fun to see creative uses of trying to clime a tree and cut vines :-)
Sorry that I have been kinda off and on....stress of teaching and prepping labs this semester is about 200% harder. But if any of you need another person drop me a line (I have characters in level 2 to 10 in SFS).
Again, thanks all for the fun game!
GM...for the set of quests I did use a reroll...so the nat 1 I have for my day job stands....which is fine. Ray has been on an....anti-swarm kick, so he is probably also working on side projects dealing with swarm deterrents....

Chronicles can be found here!
Please let me know of any corrections or revisions. I will mark this campaign "inactive" once I have confirmation of receipt of chronicles from everyone or one week from now, whichever is sooner.
Thanks again for a lot of fun! I look forward to sharing a table with each of you in the future (if not, for some of you, the present)!

Valen it looks good to me. Thanks again for running!
