Sorry. I had a flaky weekend.

@Malaika: Where is that confusion Hex from, by the way? Given that my 'flagship' character is a Witch, I'm surprised I missed that one.

I played with a guy who was an urban barbarian who had the profession "gentleman at large" as it were and wore a sleeve of many gaents for any occasion...

Yeah you have a few days. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
happy birthday to me!

Happy Birthday!

So, I'm trying to get ahold of the theme of this scenario.
We have about a week to evacuate before the remains of a mountain teleport atop of this town. The governor needs to be convinced this threat is real and she needs to take action.
We tried to seek the army and the clergy to gather support, but they trust the governor fully.
Did we find her son (or nephew, I forgot?) Maybe we need to convince him.
Or should we just chronicle as much as we can?

Please excuse this moment but I will be losing a family member today and will be out for three days of mourning returning on Mon or Tues. Please bot me as necessary.

You didn't find the nephew. (Thats not actually in the scenario just a role playing thing I threw in. He's a clerk in the governor's office)
Yeah Amara Li wants you to document everything.

I'm sorry about your loss, Maudril. Take all the time you need.

My condolences. Do you mind if I ask why you say that in the future tense? It's not normally the sort of thing that can be foretold ahead of time (at least, not with to-the-day accuracy).

![]() |

Because we removed life support on Friday morning and just after 1pm he stopped breathing and life left his body so that all his earthy suffering ceased. That is why I used future tense.

GM, a question on Ogren's Spirit Bond ability (the dynamic casting part). By your reading, is there anything that would keep me from using it as a swift action for Instant Enemy? I think the standard action spells are pretty clear.
APG rule sets are such a mess.

Yeah that would work.

I apologize for my absence; I've been busy with other things. :/

![]() |

Hope everyone's having fun. My work has been getting unexpectedly busy the past few weeks and I haven't really focused on the game.
I'm going GenCon online this week. I'd hope to have it done by now but I guess it's ok.
Sorry if the plot seems to have gone off rail but you're doing fine. Let me know if you're having any questions.

I like how Malaika's/mine/Ogren's respective reactions to the governor's plan with the clockwork were kind of a demonstration/parable of "Charisma/Intelligence/Wisdom".

GM, looking for a detail on our previous clockwork combat. Did the clock work wizard 'cast' spells like a normal caster or were the spell like abilities. Trying to figure out if silence seems like it would be an effective suppression mechanism.

They were using wands with a SU ability.

Is there a graveyard or something around here I could levy some high-HD corpses from?

![]() |

High Definition corpses! You can see their rotting nose hairs... in 3D!

In a home game, we once had small magical creature with high DR and regeneration that we couldn't seem to hurt enough to finish off.The wizard put up a wall of fire. The cleric cast protection from fire on the monk. Then the monk just picked it up and stood in the wall of fire while it was biting him until it died. I couldn't stop chuckling about it.

![]() |

Oops, I didn't realize the red lines was a wall of fire. I'll definitely hang back and delay.

![]() |

Hmm, how do we want to handle this? Looks like they aren't entering the wall of fire and just pelting us from range.
I'm going to wait a bit, but otherwise I'm going in to melee and telling Ilvan to stay away from the fiery wall.

![]() |

I have displacement going did you roll for that when attacking me? I also have fast healing 2 so I will auto stabilize and finally I am blood raging so my normal 85 HP is augmented by more.

![]() |

Is it just me, or was that final encounter SERIOUSLY anticlimactic? It was -at least- as easy as the other Clockwork fight.
I expected those self-destruct mechanisms in the elevator to matter; I expected treachery. I expected SOMETHING.

![]() |

Well, those spell slots weren't going to burn themselves!
Day Job Reroll: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 4 = 28

Thanks for the game, GM!

There wouldn't happen to be "a named NPC scholar, knowledgeable spellcaster, or similar figure" around whom I could try recruiting to the Dark Archive, would there?
If so, I would automatically succeed on the DC 25 Knowledge (Arcana) check to do so!
Similarly, I hate to say it, BUT that Exchange Faction-only Boon should be crossed off my sheet.
Also, you forgot my Day Job gold.
