I'm locking onto their ship. Fire at will and often!
Lock On (Computers): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
If you have at least 6 ranks in Computers, you can lock your starship’s targeting system on to one enemy vessel. You must spend 1 Resolve Point and attempt a Computers check. The DC equals 5 + 1-1/2 times the tier of the target starship + its bonus from defensive countermeasures (see page 298). If you succeed, your starship’s gunners gain a +2 bonus to gunnery checks against the target for the rest of the round. This action can be taken only once per round.

Jack spins the vessel in space, trying to evade the point blank range enemy
Bluu uses the laser net aggressively, chipping away at the enemy shields
Sefel locks your weapons onto the ship right in front of you, it surely will be hard to miss there from here...
The enemy ships own laser net burns through your front shields, lightly scorching your hull.

Chivix Velloro |

"Come to papa! Don't think you can challenge Chivix Vellero and his crew without consequence!"
As he slid sideways in the gunner's chair, Chivix called out, "Hey, Jack, buddy, mind not trying to throw me across the deck every time I line up a shot? This will go a lot easier if you let me kill him before you run us into an asteroid!"
plasma cannon: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

If I'm not mistaken, engineering happens before weapons so it'd be cheating to divert power to shields now. If I am mistaken then I'll send power to shields, otherwise:
{Keep lighting them up!}
Divert to weapons: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27

![]() |

I was talking more about the enemy's weapons. Seems kinda cheesy for me to try to heal damage that didn't technically exist when I would've rolled.

![]() |

@BugfaceYour shields were below strength to begin with, so you could have diverted power to shields any time this round.
@Chivix, I assume that +12 doesnt include the lock on and captain bonsues (I'll assume the captain bonus goes to your plasma cannon rather than the nuke which is not fired this round
The plasma cannon slices hard into the corpse fleet ship.

The 'AoO' is just from one weapon, yes? If so, take it Chivix! You shoot better than I.
Also, Seems like turning in place or flip-and-burning could point up right up thier rear!

![]() |

Yes, please do divert power to the shields soon! And now that we're hit in front again, time for another rebalance...
Balance shields (Computers DC25): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34
0/17/17/17 ⇒ 15/12/12/12; Divert power may affect this

Jackojare will do a flip and turn piloting: 18 + 1d20 ⇒ 18 + (3) = 21 and moved ourselves 4 hexes to the right and changed arrow direction 180 degrees.
keep getting low piloting numbers, not sure the 21 pulls it off.

Bluuuuu |

This might be a good time to use the Crypt Warden's one-time reroll feature (since we're using it in a Tier 7-8) if people are cool with that. Getting it in our front arc instead of our rear (on a failure) is a big difference, plus keeps us facing a good direction for future rounds.

![]() |

Nope, that would be a DC 25, so you move forward half your speed. Looks like it will be your rear guns and turret that can fire normally. Might pay to use the Plasma cannon for your AOO
Divert power last turn restored 10 shield points, which probably would have gone into your forward shields.
Options for shields after divert last time.
10/17/17/17 -> 16/15/15/15 or
10/17/17/17 -> 21/6/17/17 (pick which ever quadrant you wanted to sacrifice shields on).
Of course, the Congregation of Perpetual Agonies is not looking in especially good shape at the moment. Especially with a free attack against it. Note the free attack has to be from a direct fire weapon (such as your plasma cannon). It will be against the COPA's rear arc

![]() |

Let's go with 16/15/15/15

![]() |

I forgot crypt warden had a reroll feature..assuming noone objects, I'm going to put the new roll in spoilers, please don't look before deciding
Jackojare sees the future and decides he should wait 1 second later to give the ship enough thrust and maybe it will flip
Also, piloting init for next round piloting init: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28

Of course Sefel. I would not want to disappoint you
Attack via Nuke: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 2 = 23 for damage: 5d8 ⇒ (6, 7, 7, 6, 4) = 30

![]() |

Man my brain is fried. I rolled to patch earlier and still somehow thought we had taken no damage to shields. I would've powered shields on that last roll if I had been alert. I'll do it now too.
Divert to shields: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31

Nuke and Plasma cannon tear into the corpse fleet ship.
It keeps going, trying to get away from you.
Ship is fleeing now, you can have a free round of attacks at it, or try to follow, or just let it go. You must stay on the map in order to maintain your download of data

![]() |

I suggest we let them go. We need to keep on that signal!
Sefel suggests, still self-conscious that he unleashed it.

![]() |

It takes more than just a few hours, but you eventually get a full copy of the beacons transmission. Then it is back into the Drift for a return to Absalom station.
Once there you are ushered into the Lorespire complex, and the office of Radaszam. The vesk looks at you expectantly.
"What did you find?"

Chivix Velloro |

"Quite a lot, actually. There was another ship already there, filled with ghosts and videos of lover's trysts. Then we found a beacon and got the information off of it before chasing off a corpse fleet ship that had come for the dead ship. I got to hit things and shoot a plasma cannon, taking HUGE chunks out of that Eoxian ship before they turned tail. It was glorious!"

Bluuuuu |

There was A beacon as well, but the information within was significant. Bluuuuu adds. The Crypt Warden did not have the resources to be able to fully decipher it.

![]() |

Yes, the beacon transmitted a signal before it could be stopped. We were able to recover it in full, and so we get to discover it's message together, here with you.

![]() |

"Oh this is very exciting. Historia-7 is taking some, uh.. personal time. But when she returns I'll show her this! I'm sure she will be as excited about it as I am."
A worried expression crosses his face as Radaszam leans in conspiratorially. "Actually, I'm quite worried about Historia-7. I hopes to someday learn and be of assistance to whatever she’s currently dealing with or investigating - but it must be important and it certainly is... well.." he shrugs.
"What did you say the ship you found was called? That other signal that got sent is a worry. We might be in a race for the next beacon."
When you mention the corpse fleet vessel he looks a little alarmed. "Probably best you let it go. Well done on surviving the battle, that must have been tough. I wonder if their captain will forgive the defeat? I'll let the Stewards know about it, as Corpse fleet activity in that area is.. unexpected."

Bluuuuu |

Yes, we certainly weren't expecting for Corpse Fleet members to also be looking around the beacon. Bluuuuu broadcasts concerned.
Hopefully it was just a coincidence, but we can't count on that. Racing with the corpse fleet for a lost treasure, I have a very bad feeling about that... :)
The barathu is also taken aback by Radaszam's news about the Dataphiles leader. First Jadnura, now Historia-7. It seems a lot of faction leaders are going on sabbaticals lately. He looks at the vesk. I hope if you need to take some vacation days you will feel secure enough to let us know in advance Radaszam. I would not wish to worry about you.

![]() |

"I think you misunderstand..." smiles Raz.
"It is this other ship you found... if the corpse fleet that was sending the extra signal... why would they wait until another found the beacon. No.. I think we may be in a race with one of the ahh, less salubrious familier"
-=-=-
After a few weeks you hear back from Razaszam that the stewards reporting finding an abandoned Corpse Fleet base in the system. What they were doing there is anybodies guess.
