Katra Ironfist
Sorry about the delay. I'm catching up now.
Katra swore and said "This is what we get for ignoring solid tactical plans." as the Hobgoblins called out to them. she then moved up behind her brother.
Turn 22:
Watching the Elf fall, Katra moved up to the threat and swung her hammer at his knees.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage Roll: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Turn 023
"Lets to it then. Two enemies remain." He looks toward the refugees "They should storm the bridge as we meet the enemy. Once clear we can blow the bridge."
Katra Ironfist
As the Hobgoblin falls to their assault and the others begin looking at the plans, Katra starts stewing. She had messed up her own plan, but she would never admit it to herself, much less anyone else. After a couple of minutes, Katra slammed her fist into the wall and stormed towards the bridge, summoning her hammer as she went.
The healing potion landed in the grass behind her.
As she crossed the bridge, she started bellowing: "Hey, you ugly sack of puss. Ya, you, on the wolf, you sack of Kobold excriment. First, your filth decides to attack my home, depriving me of my family. Then, you decide that isn't good enough, so you ruin the only place they let me run a tab and spill my beer? Get the f#$k out of here! You disgust me you coward!"
Gazul Ironfist
In mid sentence Gazul stopped, for his sister had already walked on. He cringed as she roared her challenge. Looking at the others with embarrassment he said ”She is the chosen of Angradd. I’d have a better chance of asking the mountains to move.” even as he began walking out with axe in hand. If the worg rider charged, he would be ready.
Kudvathalas
Kudvathalas watched the Dwarven woman as she taunted the wolf and rider. He approached behind her to pick up the healing potion, and took position behind the Dwarves.
He pulled our his longbow, nocked an arrow, and waited for it to react before fired.
I'm hoping to fire an arrow now and cast frostbite once it starts charging us. If it doesnt look like there is time for both I'll just ready a frostbite.
Cheshire Silvanshee
"I like that . . ." He looks a little flustered as Katra calls out the hobgoblin and the wolf, "Oh we are starting now. Do the refugees know to make a go for it once we have started the fight on the bridge. A single signal to the host in the center of town and our escape becomes much more intense."
Do the refugees know to storm the bridge and head for the forest once we attack the enemies on the bridge.
Sarya Vanitahr
|
Sarya got up quickly and cleaned her face of hobgoblin blood before going into the cabin. After reviewing the plans with Cheshire, she was glad a gnome was giving an opinion as well. She didn't trust her engineering knowledge that much and a second opinion was welcome.
Once outside, she noticed Katra yelling her challenge to the mounted (?) soldier. She drew her sword and stood in front of Katra and said "Let me take the charge. My magic will take most of the blow."
Use Second Wind for a heal up. Also, the round prior to the coming of the soldier, cast Blade Ward.
Second Wind: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Game on!
Cheshire initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Gazul initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Gazul initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Katra initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Kudvathalas initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Sarya initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Enemies initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Sarya Vanitahr

Looking around Sarya decided that there was no real advantage to fight on or off the bridge. She moved forward and shot an arrow with her bow at the soldier. She looked to the invading soldier and wolf trying to figure out if they had heard Katra's challenge.
It seems that two rounds will be necessary for the two parties to meet. So move forward and shoot.
Shoot the soldier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Advantage if by now they haven't realized we're here: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
She, then, said "If we fell the soldier, the wolf might turn and flee."
Gazul Ironfist
”Shield wall.” Gazul said in common, coming shoulder to shoulder with his sister. ”We got this. Advance as one and watch each other’s backs.” He really hoped she would listen. The elf almost certainly would. But Katra? He was ready to throttle her. The warpriests of Torag had tactics for nearly every situation, and she was throwing all of them into a pit and pissing on them. He had to beg her to heal her wounds, and even then she threw a perfectly good healing potion into the dirt. And now they were facing a melee fight when they could have picked the foe off at range, and time was of the essence. If this took too long then they’d all die. He gave her an angry look but fought it down. Words could come later. Right now they all just needed to survive.
Fabian Benavente
OOC: this is tricky here because of the split initiative at the beginning.
This is what I will do unless I hear otherwise:
Sarya will move forward 30' and shoot
Gazul will move forward to stand next to Sarya
No one else can move because it's not their turn to act yet.
I will then act for wolf and soldier and then everyone can act 'at the same time' (or at least without being interrupted by the wolf and soldier).

Game on!
I intend to recap a little after 4:30 pm.
Cheshire Silvanshee
How far from the bridge is the trees that the refugees are hiding at. Are they straight north of D or the larger group of trees in the northwest of the map.
Fabian Benavente
Cheshire Silvanshee
Given the proximity then a signal is not out of line once we have engaged the enemy?
Cheshire Silvanshee
”Shield wall.”
Utred son of Utred is that you?
Kudvathalas
Seeing the wolf charge Katra, Kudvathalas fired his bow at the large canine as it approached.
This poor beast has been trained by these creatures for their vile purposes. Forgive me, but you must be put down.
Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
He didn't account for his angle of attack and missed.
After failing with his bow, Kudvathalas slung the longbow over his shoulder and moves at an angle to be in range to assist against the hobgoblin.
I move 2 spaces down, 5 spaces right.
Fabian Benavente
Given the proximity then a signal is not out of line once we have engaged the enemy?
OOC: Sure, they can certainly hear you if you yell at them but I don't think there was a pre-established signal that you were going to make.
I may have missed that though so let me know otherwise.

Spell Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Spell Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5
Cheshire moves back toward the refugees, "Now is the time friends while the enemy is engaged get across the bridge."
That will put me back behind the block. I wated to move closer before calling to the fugees.

With the refugees coming, it became even more important to finish off the soldier. Sarya pressed her attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Her thrust was true, but the soldier managed to dodge the worst of it, so it only drew some blood from his shoulder.
Cheshire Silvanshee
Turn 026 - Now Is the Time
Cheshire returns to the bridge hugging the wall. "Keep moving. Run."
Cheshire turns his attention to the wolf. He sends another mote of fire toward the beast. The smell of burning fur rising.
Spell Attack Firebolt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage Firebolt: 1d10 ⇒ 9

Gazul, I think his AC is 19
OOC: yep, his AC is 19. :(
BTW, I'm taking a terrible ego blow. I opened up another recruitment thread (for Wrath of the Righteous), which is a similar story to this one (small group of PCs going against all odds and making a big change in the world) but I got zero interest so far. :(
I know it's a popular AP and many people have played it, but I thought that the fact that it was popular would work in my favor.
Oh well, can't force people. :)

I'd be all over WotR, but with a new baby I dont know if I'll have time. I may whip up a character just in case
OOC: New baby? Congratulations!!!
And while I would love to have you on the WotR PBP, do not overextend yourself. The last thing you want is for these games to feel like a chore.

Thanks! This would never a chore, just may not have the time to dedicate to it that I'd prefer. Just an FYI, right around the time this started up, there were two other WotR campaigns using pathfinder rules, so people interested in the AP may have hopped on one of those.

Looks like my post from yesterday got eaten by Paizo.
I hope you choked on it you big fat doo doo head! =P Also, didn't see you opened a wrath recruitment Fabian. I'll go app =)
"Now's not the time to be walking Manlings. Move like you have a purpose that includes living through tomorrow!" called Katra as the refugees began to cross the bridge, but she couldn't afford to take her eyes of the snarling beast. She needed to keep it's attention so it wouldn't turn and go after the others. So, she hit it again.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage Roll: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
This time, however, her hammer ricocheted off it's tough hide.

Gazul didn’t see his sister go down, as he was far too engaged in his own fight. He swung with all of his might, determined to cut through the enemy’s armor. And against a less canny warrior it might have worked, but the hobgoblin soldier dodged to the side, and the blow hit naught but air.

Im officially at my limit for games that can be managed. Otherwise I’d have loved to join another one. Quite enjoying your gming
Yeah, I don't know how you handle all your games. To be honest, I was afraid you would not dedicate enough time to this game so I was on the fence whether to let you join or not. However, you have proven me wrong and I'm very happy you're here. :)
BTW, thanks for the recommendation on the recruitment thread.

Cheshire Silvanshee
Cheshire winced when the wolf bit and shook the dwarf. A gasp of grief escaped his lungs, even a tear knowing that she gave her all for a place not her home.
When the wolf regards him he begins to position himself to read for the likely charge. "You would have made a glorious rug kur, meet now the first fires of Hell." He begins a not familiar chant though heat still seemed to shift the air above his darkened bone wand and even the gnomes arms and shoulders. With the last movements his arms seem to be drawing up an unseen force from beneath him his hands shift his thumbs tough and his fingers flay out in a fan shape. A wave of fire cuts the air between the gnome and the wolf.
Burning Hands. I am making a point to use any movement to avoid hitting Katra or Kud with the cone and obviously to get the wolf in the fire. DC 13 Dex Save.
Burning Hands: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4) = 8
Wild Magic Check, no whammies no whammies: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Oh good lord. We have a surge.
Surge Result: 1d100 ⇒ 65 65-66 Up to three creatures you choose within 30 feet of you take 4d10 lightning damage.
Well thank goodness for the words UP TO. Which I believe means that I can target the wolf and not pick 2 more targets within 30 feet of me. The hobgoblin is too far away.
The fan of fire leaves Cheshire's fingers and engulf the wolf. As his thumbs separate a bit of spark transitions from orange to blue and it crackles arcing between the gnomes thumbs and his wand. He grips the wand in both hands as it seems white hot and crackling with pure lightening. The wand seems to have a pull to it like the gnome struggles against a great fish. He turns the wand down and a great arc of lightening strikes the wolf. He pulls away and turns so that the wand cannot hit any friendly targets. He still struggles against its pull. Unable to discharge its power the wand splits and cracks and is consumed in a shower of blue and white sparkle with a cold 'sheezt' sound.
Lightening Damage for the wolf: 4d10 ⇒ (7, 6, 1, 1) = 15
And thus ends my Bandersnatch Quill Wand. I have been waiting for a good moment to loose it knowing my Father's Lucky Coin can serve as a focus. Writing this as the random results enfolded was kinda exciting.
