GM Derek |

I've updated the loot sheet on Roll20 with the Corla loot.
With the clarification on the split, it looks like Nasir, Ayita, Frantino, Doc, and Roscoe will each get 1,262gp and 6sp from selling the items of known value. We'll still need to negotiate the bejeweled silver peacock feather with an open eye in the center. Who has the skills to do that?
We can also easily sell off Viralne's chest containing fine clothing and jewelry for 1,500gp. So that would mean that everyone would get 250gp, Ezranadir included.
Are there any other items on the loot sheet that we want to sell off? We have a bunch of consumables (the Peacock crew really like blue whinnis poison!) and some weapons and armor we can sell off. Speak up on what we should sell.
@DM Derek, is it okay to just hand wave the offloading of the goods? Or do we need to haggle?
Handwave the offloading of goods, sure. But the Diplo and knowledge (local) roll are necessary for the bejeweled peacock feather.

Frantino Kaddren |

Frantino takes a look at the jeweled feather with the eye of a merchant as he adjusts the occasionally itchy peacock feather cloak he took from Alden.
Appraise: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Knowledge local: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 (untrained) = 10 + circumstance bonus for being an actual local?
Does this seem related to the Peacock Spirit? Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
He'll then pass along this information to those who are better negotiators than he.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

In order to make the accounting easier with the addition of Ezranadir, I'm also clearing out our cash. The First Five should add an additional 19gp and 9cp.
Splitting Corla's cash evenly, everyone, including Ezranadir, gets 4pp, 9gp, and 5sp.
After all that, we will have 2cp left in the pool. I've deleted the rest of the cash off the loot sheet.

Frantino Kaddren |

Roscoe is the only one of the appropriate body size to wear Corla's +1 studded leather (unless we can transfer armor runes a la 2nd edition), and coincidentally he's wearing nonmagical studded leather right now. Roscoe, do you want an upgrade?
Other than the potions and handy haversack, I think we sell the rest of Corla's stuff.

Ezranadir wrote:Regarding the items the party gathered, Ezranadir asks,"If you can hold off on selling the spellbook, I would like to take the opportunity to copy some of the spells out of it."
The spellbook contains:
3rd: *invisibility sphere;
2nd: *cat’s grace, *mirror image;
1st: *color spray, mage armor, shield, *vanish;
Cantrips: acid splash, dancing lights, detect magic, ghost sound, mage hand, message, prestidigitation;
4 additional 1st level spells;
4 additional 2nd level spells;
4 additional 3rd-level spells.
GM Derek, what are the additional spells?1st level spells: Shadow Weapon, Obscure Poison, Erase, Aphasia
2nd level spells: Callback, Disfiguring Touch, Slipstream, Elemental Speech
3rd level spells: Campfire Wall, Phantom Driver, Sleet Storm, Tongues
Captured spellbooks can be sold for an amount equal to half the cost of purchasing and inscribing the spells within.
Corstela's spellbook:
Spellbook = 15gpCantrips = 5gp x 7 = 35gp
1st level = 10gp x 8 = 80gp
2nd level = 40gp x 7 = 280gp
3rd level = 90gp x 5 = 450gp
The spellbook's value is 860gp, so selling price is 430gp.
Dolland's alchemical formula book:
Spellbook = 15gp
1st level = 10gp x 3 = 30gp
2nd level = 40gp x 3 = 120gp
The formula book's value is 165gp, so selling price is 82.5gp.
That's another 512.5gp, or divided five ways is another 102gp 5sp each, unless we see a need to keep either one? After Ezranadir gets free access to Corstela's spellbook, of course.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

He's going to need a few days to do all that scribing, so we probably aren't selling the spellbook it right now.
We might be able to sell the formula book unless someone intends to craft alchemical items.

Yeah, there are 17 spells he does not know. That would be 17 hours to decipher & learn all the spells & 33 hours to copy them into his spellbook & cost a total of 750 GP. He does not have that much gold right now and not sure if he needs to record all of the spells. Have never heard of half of them so I would need to read up on them to see if they are even worthwhile.

In that case, it might make more sense to simply buy the spellbook outright from the party. You spend 430gp instead of 750, the rest of us end up with the same amount of gold either way, and you can use the "borrowed spellbook" rules (CRB 219) to prepare spells from it rather than spend all that gold copying them into your own spellbook. The Spellcraft check is already almost assured for you and will be guaranteed successful in another few levels. However, the math for you does depend on how many of the spells you actually want.

Frantino Kaddren |

We might be able to sell the formula book unless someone intends to craft alchemical items.
This formula book isn't for crafting alchemical items, it's for an alchemist or investigator to whip up extracts (spells-in-a-bottle) every day. An alchemist can decipher spell formulas from a spellbook and write them in their formula book, but without a certain feat (I can't remember which book it was in) a wizard cannot reverse engineer a formula back into its spell format and write it into a spellbook. (That's an illogical rule that the GM could waive, wink wink.)
If someone intends to multiclass into alchemist or investigator, keeping the formula book would be of value to them. Personally, I LOVE the 1e investigator class, during character creation I was down to one or the other. I might take a look and see if a small dip into investigator would be beneficial, especially since occultist and investigator are both Int-based. Getting an inspiration pool to add 1d6 to all knowledge, linguistics, and spellcraft checks and some saves and attack rolls might be worth it, plus be the backup trapfinder when Ayita is busy.
Ooh, thematically the cartographer investigator archetype in Ultimate Wilderness seems to mesh well with the occult historian and ruin reading, plus lots more class skills...

A cartographer investigator sounds really neat!
Not sure if Ayita is the best at negotiating, probably not; Diplomacy +6, Appraise +4

GM Derek |

The bejeweled peacock feather is an interesting item. From Frantino’s examination, he knows it is a Thassilonian holy symbol and likely of great interest to the right collectors.
Doc and Ezranadir combine their wits to find just the right curiosity shop in Magnimar to sell it. The bargaining is sharp, but fruitful. Oddly, the shop owner closes up and pulls the curtains once he sees the peacock feather.
”I can give you 300 gold sails, but only on the guarantee that you don’t speak of it to anybody. But bring your other treasures to me!”

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

Question about purchases. I would like to make my sword a +1 scimitar. It is already a masterwork piece, so I would just like to make it magic. How long would enchanting it take? I have to admit that this is one thing I really like about how they did enchanting weapons in 2E.

Two days of work.

GM Derek |

Safe travels. Going anywhere fun?
Nashville to scout an event venue.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

Bring good masks and stay safe! Luckily the flooding is in eastern Kentucy, not anywhere near where you are going.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

Okay, with Roscoe's takes and the sale of the peacock feather, here are the new numbers:
The Cove 5:
- 1,304gp for the sale of fungible items
- 19gp & 9cp for Cove cash
- 8gp & 7sp for the sale of the misc gear that no one wanted.
Total Party: 4pp, 9gp, and 5sp from Corla's cash.
Grand Totals:
- Cove 5 - 4pp, 1340gp, 7sp & 9cp
- Ezranadir - 4pp, 9gp & 5sp
There is still quite a bit of gear and magic to be claimed, so please speak up if you want any of it. Also note who is heeding Frantino's recommendation to take a set of the lesser talismans (arrow protection, freedom & warrior’s courage) so I can delete the quantity from our loot list. Ezrandir is also welcome to them as we have plenty.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

@GM Derek - for the cash, can we choose what type of coinage we want (pp, gp, sp)? Looking at my character sheet, I have over 45lbs in coins alone.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

If there are extra talismans, then Ezranadir would gladly take a set of 3. Thanks.
Alright! Have at it. I've already deducted the 3 talismans from our inventory.

A moneychanger is available. Select any coinage for a 2% fee.

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

What kinds of coinage could we have asked for when we sold everything?

Frantino Kaddren |

Good thing we have a bag of holding and a handy haversack to help hold our piles of coins!

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |

Thank you for the bag of holding reminder!

Ezranadir will spend all of his free time trying to learn & transfer spells into his spellbook. Let me know how much time he can take since it takes 1hr to learn (DC: 15+SL) & 1hr per spell level per spell to record so he can make spellcraft checks. Cost for writing a Cantrip through 9th Lvl spell would be 5gp, 10gp, 40gp, 90gp, 160gp, 250gp, 360gp, 490gp, 640gp & 810gp.
If someone can pick up a Rapier for him then he will hand over 20gp.

Much of Ayita's money will go to the 2000 GP the +1 addition to "Social Control" will cost.
Looking at options for the rest...
Oh, and Ter says,
"Blackberry brandy, Ayita!!! Blackberry brandy!!!"
Is any available?
Yazhi wants more treats too.

12hrs of spell-learning time per day. You have four hours left today.
Arms and armor enchantment are going to take today and two additional days, so... you've got remainder of today (4hrs), tomorrow (12hrs) and the following day (12hrs). You can forgo tomorrow's council meeting in favor of spell-learning. Total: 28hrs
Tell me which spells you're trying today, tomorrow and the following day. If anything comes up tomorrow, you'll be absent (unless the team alerts you and interrupts your learning).
After you've listed which will be attempted each day, please roll Spellcraft for today's spells only.

The 1st day (4hrs) Ezranadir tries to learn the 2nd Lvl spell Slipstream & transcribe it. (DC:17/-40gp).
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
The Council Meeting is going to take up all 12hrs of tomorrow? He wants to attend so will forego learning any spells if it takes all day.

OMG that meeting sounds like something from my workplace

GM Derek |

For my seance, can I still pick any spirit while in Magnimar?
Yes.

GM Derek |

Sorry, I'm a little confused. I thought I was coup de grace'd and failed the save--did I miss a retcon or did I dream dying?
YES! You missed a post. A very important post!
Ezranadir used his Time Lost ability to force a GM reroll of the bad guy's initiative. The rerolled initiative was WORSE than Ayita's, so she and her animal companion, Yazhi, were able to go first and attack the assassin before he had a chance to coup de grace you.

GM Derek |

I could not move Ezrandir's token out of the room as you have the doors locked.
Fixed.
